Guilty Gear -Strive- is a superb entry in the 2D Fighter genre, and has the looks, sounds, and stability to back the claim. While smaller compared to other titles, the initial roster of fifteen fighters feels distinct, and most picks have a fitting theme to complement their personality and playstyle. The Story Mode does a great job showcasing who these characters are, while providing a good narrative to boot - and while the act of getting matched with other players can be a pain, the online play experience is incredibly solid. Let's rock!

The soundtrack is easily one of the best I have heard for a fighter. All Guilty Gear games have a beautiful rock soundtrack and Strive certainly does too. The game has many lyrical rock tracks. If you’re the slightest bit curious about this game be sure to give it a try. I’m not even really a fan of Guilty Gear, but I instantly loved Guilty Gear Strive when I first started to play it. It’s easy to tell a good fighter when the game feels so fluid and easy to pick up and play from the beginning. In this day and age, fluid online play means a lot for a fighter and Strive definitely has you covered there as well.

Guilty Gear Strive is a strong fighting title, with a surprising story, a deep and rewarding combat system and bold visuals that extol the best of Anime. Arc Systems first next-gen title is a clear winner, with the studio following its crusade in a genre where it continues to stand out. Although the series may not say much to many players, just give it an opportunity and surrender to one of the best fighting games of our days.

Guilty Gear -Strive- has proven to be the game that extends the hand to those who would otherwise avoid a fighting game, while at the same time remains a glorious entry in the franchise's long history. With a deep story mode to intrigue the player and butter-smooth learning curve, helped by an innovative difficulty system, it guides them to a full and successful online experience. Despite being a little short on content and having a few minor issues with some of its new features, it definitely is the fighting game every newcomer should dare tame.

20+ years after the first ever Guilty Gear game, and the series moves closer and closer to perfection with this latest release. Every round of the game, no matter if you lose or win, is a great, satisfying experience that offers almost anything you would want from a fighting game.

Despite some delayed modes and some missing features, Guilty Gear Strive is still a masterful fighting game filled with brilliant moves, perfect controls and some of the greatest art I’ve ever seen in a fighting game. All it takes is watching one fight in this game and you’ll need to own it.

Guilty Gear Strive is a real triumph for Arc System Works, fast becoming the gold standard of the genre, and it is going to be extremely fun to see how it plays out in coming months.

The talented Japanese team has created its greatest work and, beyond what will be the reception of the general public, has given shape to a stylistic and gameplay masterpiece, capable of synthesizing the needs of players with almost opposite characteristics. Guilty Gear Strive is the new beat 'em up paradigm, by art sector, online infrastructure and balance between the various elements of the gameplay. The few defects found are mostly a consequence of too short development times, and will probably be fixed over time. A title suitable for beginners, but challenging for experts, with a solid online infrastructure and a non-playable, yet smooth and well-written story mode. We are undoubtedly facing a milestone in the fighting game, a product to be appreciated and loved in all its facets. Put aside any reluctance and let yourself be taken by the hand by the rich tutorial modes, you will not be disappointed.

An outstanding fighting game that manage to simplify its entry barriers without making it easier for experts. You may miss some more characters, but beyond that this is an extraordinary game. Arc System Works has done it once again.

Guilty Gear -Strive- has the opportunity to establish itself as one of the best fighting games today. Its systems are dynamic and offensive-oriented, which results in spectacular and aggressive fights that exploit technical fundamentals in battle. At the same time, it invites new players with simple and easy to understand commands, however, it fails to captivate them in the long run. Guilty Gear -Strive- shy away from perfection as there is unbalance and feels incomplete.

While a bit low on content at launch, this is definitely another great fighting game by Arc System, with enormous potential and exhilarating gameplay.

Guilty Gear Strive is undoubtedly another great entry in the series. It’s incredibly intricate yet friendly gameplay, attractive character designs, and inviting next-gen visuals are but a few of the reasons you should pick up this game, especially if you're a fighting game fanatic.

You can't oppose Guilty Gear Strive front a technical or artistic standpoint, but the most conservative part of the community might not enjoy its gameplay, more accessible but also less open. Still, Strive is a great entry door to the Guilty Gear saga.

For those curious about this franchise and are looking for a great way in, there's no better time to do so than now as the fighter is more welcoming than ever. Guilty Gear is back, and it wants everyone to party.

Arc System Works tried to turn Guilty Gear -Strive- into more accessible game, that can be enjoyed by newcomers. But Strive still have plenty of gameplay depth, great visuals and cool music. If you ever wanted to try Guilty Gear, now is definitely the right time.

Guilty Gear Strive proves there’s still some fight left in 2D gaming. Between the gorgeous visuals, rocking soundtrack and highly-polished gameplay, Guilty Gear Strive delivers the total package when it comes to making a great fighting game and is one of the best modern 2D fighters. A lot of care went into making this a contender for gaining a strong online presence, but the developers also didn’t skimp on single player content. The cinematic approach to the story mode was an unusual choice, but something longtime Guilty Gear fans will likely appreciate the opportunity to sit back and watch the story unfold in a visually-stunning cinematic experience. Guilty Gear Strive makes subtle tweaks, but for the most part follows the formula that made previous entries great.

For new players of 1v1 fighting games, this is the one to pick. With a command input system that’s slightly easier to grasp than many of its contemporaries and a brilliant visual style, Guilty Gear Strive is a solid first foray into the genre. You’ll still need patience though. If you’re desperate to get good, this game will allow you to, but if you’re looking for a super casual experience, Strive still falls into the same pitfalls as other games of its type.

The fighting system of Guilty Gear Strive requires tactics and precision, and the solid soundtrack full of roaring guitars supports the epic battles. What we liked most about this fine fighting game is the distinctive graphic style of the cutscenes that is carried through into the game, making you feel as if you are playing the lead role in a great anime.

I am totally obsessed with this game and will likely continue to be obsessed for months, if not years. I've always wanted to get into fightingI am totally obsessed with this game and will likely continue to be obsessed for months, if not years. I've always wanted to get into fighting games, in the past I dabbled casually in Street Fighter IV and V, Skullgirls, Dragon Ball Fighterz, and Granblue Fantasy, but I never quite got in at the right time to be able to learn them properly. Fighting games are really strengthened by the complexity they allow in competitive play, but this complexity can also feel like an insurmountable obstacle to an unexperienced player, particularly a complete newbie. Strive refines the format down to the essentials, which is not to say it's easy, far from it, just the quantity of information required to be learned by the player to actually engage with the game has been lessened dramatically. I got in on day one of the pre-release, and have been steadily learning and growing as the game itself grows and develops, and I can easily say it was one of the best gaming decisions I ever made. I'm now hopelessly enthralled in the fighting game community, and knowing all that I know now, I'm confident in branching out into other titles as they release. Absolutely recommend this title to anyone like me, who has always been interested but never felt truly capable of breaching this complex yet rewarding genre. Full Review »
