The fact that so little needed to be done to modernize it only reinforces its place as a classic of the genre.

One of the very best point and click adventures made by Lucas Arts fully remastered and with some interesting extra features. It's best opportunity to relive Manny Calavera´s adventures, though we regret it wasn't a deeper revamp.

Grim Fandango… One of the most legendary games. Manny and his HD Texture friends visit us one more time on PS4, PS Vita and PC. LucasArts' classic adventure is still very entertaining with new features. If you call yourself a “Gamer”, you must play Grim Fandango Remastered.

Grim Fandango is back, and, unlike The Longest Journey, it’s gotten a bit of modern spit and polish for its console/PC debut, and it goes without saying that for fans of adventure games, this is a must own title.

Grim Fandango is undoubtedly one of the greatest adventure games ever made, and, a few niggles aside, this remaster does its legacy justice.

When released, this game rightfully found a seat among the Gods of the Gaming World. If you've never played it, it's time for a ride, despite some small technical issues.

For almost twenty years, hundred of gamers, experts and fans have been keeping Grim Fandango at the Olympus of the playable masterpieces for a reason. Now we have it here, in the next gen, remastered but not remade, showing again why it truly is a classic and way ahead of its times since the day of its launch in the late 90s. Not perfect, but almost, exactly how the legends need to be remembered.

It took seventeen years, but Manny Calavera is back and he's ready to show everyone why graphic adventures were all the rage back then.

Told with a very unique film noir story and engaging characters, Grim Fandango Remastered just oozes with charm all around. While quite complex, the style of puzzles found here is something that gaming is missing today and works just as well now as it did back in 1998, though the controls can get in the way at times.

No matter if you're new to the Land of the Dead or a returning visitor, Grim Fandango Remastered is a must-play.

Fun and clever, Grim Fandango stands to this day as one of the most original adventure games ever created. The remastered version features most welcome developer commentary, new controls and graphical improvements. Lovers of the Día de los muertos and the film noir genre should not miss this cherished adventure.

It feels like an update rather than a remaster, but remastered or not, it's a masterpiece you shouldn't miss.

Grim Fandango is back as Grim Fandango Remastered. Finally, as one of the best adventure games ever is now available for a bigger audience who can experience the adventures of Manny Calavera and his companions.

Nostalgia, dear old friend... How have you been? It's a blast to see you're still as awesome as we remember, though we could have done without the glitches and disappointing backgrounds.

Like watching a classic old movie, Grim Fandango Remastered feels like a hearkening back to the golden days of gaming, when PC adventure games ruled and games didn’t have difficulty settings so easy that it seems like the game is playing itself. Grim Fandango Remastered is something both those who played the 1998 original game and newcomers who want to experience one of the best ever graphical adventures will enjoy. However, there is a slight lack of visual enhancements and work in this remaster.

Even though its old-school puzzle design may be offputting to many modern gamers, Grim Fandango Remastered still boasts an engaging story and a memorable world to explore.

Grim Fandango returns from the dead with a bittersweet taste in its mouth. Graphics have been improved, but the backgrounds remains low res and grainy, topped with an ugly 16:9 screen mode that stretch all the visuals, not to mention the bugs that will freeze the game. At least it delivers new content that will make fans happy, like a new control mode and audio commentary from the creators. Fans will love it, but the rest?

Grim Fandango’s greatest triumph, however, is that you needn’t overflow with nostalgia to appreciate its greatness.

Unfortunately the gameplay aspects of Grim Fandango have not aged gracefully. Even saying poorly is being kind. Yet the world, the characters and stories it contains are still top shelf. Go for the adventure, stick around for the laughs.

Grim Fandango is a work of art but the remastered edition leaves some things to be desired. The original is worth every praise - the remaster is not. It's still a great game but when a developer tries to freshen up old classics for the younger generation it has to be done right. In other words - it's almost the exactly the same case as with Heroes of Might & Magic III HD.

Nevertheless, Grim Fandango Remastered is a must-have for fans of the original, adventure game enthusiasts and those who simply want something different from the norm accompanied by top-notch storytelling.

We can barely say that Grim Fandango Remastered is not disappointing. Some will say it's nice to be able to enjoy this mythic game on the latest hardware, with a perfectly suited gameplay. But if you came for a visual remake, then you can forget about it.

We are once again faced with a fairly quick remaster of a masterpiece, and then once again we can not promote it in its entirety, having to evaluate not only the quality of the original game, but also that of the restoration.

Grim Fandango Remastered is a successful attempt to make one of the best games ever playable on current gen PCs and consoles. But that is about all, as the improvements on the source material are minimal: the reason to buy this game is only because of the comments of the makers and the big collection of artwork.

Grim Fandango was a fantastic adventure game 17 years ago, and it's still the same today. We just hoped the remaster to be up to it, and it's not totally the case.

Grim Fandango is still one hell of an adventure, even after all these years. The problem with this remastered version is that Double Fine has done very little to make it tastier for the modern player. The result is a very nice game with very poor visuals and a “remaster” that tastes like easy cash.

Grim Fandango is a tough game to evaluate, because it comes with so much baggage. If you’re already a fan of the game, the few new additions are nice – but aside from the commentary, they’re far from indispensable.

It's the swan song of a genre and a generation, and that bestows this remastered version with an incredible added value. When it comes to the quality of the polish though, you won't find much effort put into resuscitating the old glory, and that's a shame.

It makes it all the sadder that this remastering shows little love or respect for the original and fails to gather in the new audience it may deserve.

Grim's lack of availability may have helped it achieve sainthood, so its baffling puzzles may comes as a shock to many. If you can tolerate frustration, though, Schafer's final LucasArts production provides one of the best adventure game stories ever crafted—just be sure to keep an FAQ nearby.

It's clear to see Grim Fandango was a great game in its day with superb characterisation and humour shining through. Getting through its logic-defying puzzles though is like staying in hell for a few days.
