No bad game but what really bugs me is that it is so overrated from critics. Probably the most overrated game series of all time. It doesn´t bring the gaming genre forward as it is just a very good big update to previous GTA Games. I also think it was a shame last year as this game had a higher metascore than The Last Of Us as that Game really revolutionized storytelling in gaming. This year it is the same again and i played both games again and GTA just feels a lot more repetitive and aged where i had still almost the same amount of fun with TLOU as last year. It is a good thing that metacritic has a user score but it is bad that it doesn´t get as much attention as the Metascore from critics. I think there should be a Meta-metascore where both are brought together because then we would finally see the real winner of 2013... Expand

With over 400 hours of GTA Online on the PS3 version, the PS4 version isn't radically different, although deathmatches, races and jobs seem fresh if playing the in first person and it is just as fun as it ever was to go on a rampage with like 5 buddies in free mode. Incredible attention to detail in the first person perspective is crazy, and each car and phone and whatever you interact with, is different in its own way and keeps your surroundings from becoming boring. This game is just as good, if not better than it was before and I am having a lot of fun reliving the Los Santos Heists, even though they STILL aren't in GTA Online. I would give a 9.5 out of 10 because I think full price for returning players is a little unfair, but all the same the game is fantastic. Expand

As if we were expecting anything more than a sheer masterpiece, Rockstar has managed to recreate 2013's Grand Theft Auto V with stunning visuals, a reinvented first person mode, and loads more to do. My only issues come from minor, minor drops in framerate in large areas, and driving in first person mode being a little stiff.

I also just want to say I'm sick of false reviewers who did not buy this edition of the game but come on throwing 0's 1s and 2s because they feel they have a right to throw mud at something. Useless people who probably get grumpy when the sun shines.

While overall a good release of an existing modern classic, it needed more optimisation. The frame drops while driving fast cars in the city are almost constant on the PS4, and since that's one of the main activities in the game more people should really have called them out on it.

This is the review of someone who bought it on PS3, and again on PS4. And yes it's a 10/10, and I'm not giving 10/10 easily

I'm now 20 hours in on PS4, I had already finished the game on PS3, and the first thing to say is that the First-person mode changes everything. They didn't just add a camera angle, they created many animations, it's a real first-person mode, and it's well done.

They didn't just add a camera angle, they created many animations, it's a real first-person mode, and it's well done. Playing the storyline in first person is a whole new experience. The story hasn't changed but we were aware of that.

There are more cars, more animals (including cats and dogs), but only in singleplayer mode. The online mode loads faster, there are 30 people on it, and it runs smooth. The graphics could be better but let's be honest, we're talking about a huge open world game, no loading screen when you enter a building, tons of npc's, tons of little details, and new easter eggs (check the peyotl plants).

Another good point nowadays : Rockstar. They learned from the online launch fiasco, there were some problems the first day but everything is gone now, They really solve your problems, with that little extra (I had not received my 500.000 cash bonus, they solved it in 3 days and added 200.000 GTA$ for the inconvenience. What else ?

This is just how a game comapny should behave. No DLC's but free updates and new content during the whole year, and comprehensive support team. 10/10

Most of the negative reviews are coming from the "PC master race", and they haven't played it yet, so there you go. I'm sure they'll do amazing mods but they need to calm down on the console reviews. If you haven't played it yet, go for it, you won't be disappointed. If you already played it, I would say it depends on how you feel with the first-person experience.

First person is a really cool addition, but you'll still be experiencing the same missions and locations just from a different perspective. There a few small reasons to pick it up though, new animals roam the wilderness and oceans, a few new missions and sidequests are available, along with new weapons and vehicles that you can use.

Multiplayer is very much the same, with the only improvement being the player count. 16 people was trouble enough but now you'll have to deal with 30 other sticky bomb throwing a**holes, which should create some interesting scenarios, especially because the same player count is available in races and deathmatches.

Overall it's very much the same as the original, with a few new cool gimmicks and additions, although i still feel there a obvious things missing that would make GTA V the complete package. None the less a great game and a good purchase to make if you've ran out of things to play on your new system.

But if you were going to buy this re-release for the long forgotten heist's....... you'll be disappointed.

Amazing game, if you bought the previous generation version, I don't see enough reasons for you to pay full price to upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One versions. As for PC, modding is a good reason to spend the money. I own the PS4 version, it runs and looks great, but has some Online connection hiccups, which brings it to a 9 out of 10 in my opinion.

Then i noticed how much more vibrant it is compared to last gen. The colours pop more and the lighting effects are way better. The next thing i noticed was the level of detail has increased. Its lots of small details that add up to a big change. For instance. The cars are now shiny and reflect light. They are also more detailed. You can see more detail in break lights and such. Even chrome wheels look chrome and reflect light. Road surfaces etc have more detail in the way of cracks, moss, dirt etc. Its all had a texture bump to look more realistic. There is now more litter laying and even blowing around the game world. Plastic bags and things blow around. There is also bits of foliage and other debris blowing around all the time. It makes the whole game world feel more alive. The foliage system has been increased dramatically right across the game world. There are now more trees, flowers, grass and such. Some of the trees and foliage is the same as previous gen but with bumped up textures, but then there are a lot of new trees and foliage too. It looks great. Water has had a texture increase and now seems to be a bit more erratic in places. The waves seem more wild and the crash and splash against rocks is now more so. The rain effects have seen quite a drastic change. It looks much more realistic and even floods the game world by leaving puddles all over. And thanks to the new lighting system, lights, fire etc cast reflections in the puddles and ocean. You can even see rain droplets in the ocean. It looks very impressive and is probably the most drastic change of all. There are now more cars than ever before. Even cars from previous GTAIV and Episodes From Liberty City have been added, plus lots of new ones. The traffic has also been increased, but not so much it makes it difficult to get around. Its just about right. There is now an in car view too. Each car has its own in car dashboard view and interior. Some have gages, and some have digitial gages. It even shows the radio station and the name of the song that you are listening to on the radio. They even light up. It all looks great, but just don't expect the same level of detail as say Forza or Project Gotham Racing. You can see gages, lights, text on the radio, leather effect seats etc in clear detail though. There is also a first person view which makes it a whole different game. You can aim down the sites of your guns in different ways, roll, cover, everything. It makes for a new GTA experience. Personally i only really use the first person mode while driving and stay in 3rd person when out of the car. But you can do as you please. So its nice to have all the extra options. Character models, especially the main characters, all have a new level of detail and look even better than before. You can see scars, hairs, pigmentation and wrinkles in the skin. It makes them feel more alive. There are also more animals and insects than before. From cats, dolphins, moths, killer whales, hammer head sharks and more. Even older animals like dogs have been increased. Pedestrian numbers have also been increased. There are now more with more variety. AI of pedestrians has been increased too. They will try and steal your car and all sorts. Sounds have also seen a big increase and make the whole thing feel more alive and realistic. And 100 more songs have been added, as has new radio chatter. Damage to cars has also been upgraded a bit. I'm sure there is more that i've missed. The only problem i have with this game is that the story and missions are the worst in the GTA franchise. As a technical achievement it is a 10/10. But because of the story and missions i give it an 8. Expand

    PS4 VERSION:

Upon first impressions, I thought technically it's quite impressive that GTA5 runs reasonably well on PS4; however, not being able to maintain 30fps is a bit of a joke in this day and age. Yes, the map is large and there's stuff going on all around you, but when driving down a road and witnessing 22-23fps (which makes it's virtually impossible to drive well at speed) it's not impressive, it's actually irritating. The PS4 (and XB1) simply cannot achieve a solid 1080p/30fps with GTA5. Rockstar clearly had to make the game 1080p, otherwise it probably wouldn't have looked a significant amount better than the PS360 version.

It's no surprise to me that the latest generation of consoles can't manage 1080p/60fps in the bigger games, but if they can't run a game at a solid 30fps, then turn down effects; remove details; dial down draw distance; whatever, to maintain a SOLID 30fps. It'll still look better than the previous version and a SOLID 30fps (as exhibited perfectly by Forza Horizon 2) plays well enough.

So, if dipping frame rates bother you, driving anywhere slightly busy on the PS4 version of GTA5 will be an irritating experience.

Apart from that it's typical GTA fare. However, GTA5, to me, feels like the fun and interested stuff in GTA3/4 (you know, the things you could spend time on when not wanting to play the main story) have been stripped out and replaced with nothing. Maybe I've simply had my fill of GTA games (I'm 39 and been playing computer games for 30 years) and the childish repetition has finally smacked me in the face. I don't honestly know.

Whatever the issue, I find the game boring. Same old, same old. Nothing new here. Maybe the online gamers will find more pleasure from it.

As a newcomer, GTA5 is probably an amazing experience. I find it an average timewaster.

I also must admit I've yet to play the online mode of this particular port of GTA5, so if it sucks or is laggy I wouldn't know.

The graphics are considerably better than previous-gen versions of this game, but there is still some noticeable pop-up and pop-in from time to time. Which has been an ongoing thing with pretty much every GTA game since GTAIII, so most GTA fans won't care. Also, any people who have already decided they don't like the GTA series based on the gameplay and somewhat repetitive nature of the missions will NOT be won over by this game.

However, I still recommend this game if you do love the series and want to play the best incarnation of it yet. Especially if you never played it on previous-gen consoles.

Good - Not very much, but the 3 characters are well designed and the map itself is adequate in size. The overall gameplay is solid and there is definitely some fun to be had with some of the set piece missions standing out in particular.

Bad - Where to start? No ambient hiests, severe, almost criminal lack of interiors, no character progression, development or empire building of any kind, unable to buy houses, unable to enter owned businesses (lack of interiors!), awful, awful story, only around 30% of the map is actually used for anything useful, the frined 'like' % has been ditched so doing any activity with any other character is pointless, the girlfriend system is awful, unfinished concepts (Trevors meth business) and in general just terrible design decisions everywhere. There is a total lack of anything meanignful to do in this game; I mean ist all well and good being able to play golf but where are things like dealing etc that can be used to run a criminal empire?

Verdict - The most overrated, overhyped game ever made which is a shame because it could, and should have been great. If you like driving around aimlessly with the option to play a pointless minigame this could be the game for you. If you have a brain though, you will be left bitterly disappointed by an average game thats a 6/10 (generous) and one of the worst games in the GTa series, FACT.

In some cases, such as diving out of a car, exiting a vehicle that has been submerged or getting hit by a car, this can be disorienting, but that is part of what makes first person realistic. the textures are awesome, the damage to the vehicles, the inside of the vehicles, the clothing, the cracks in the streets, the thugs standing on the corner smoking cigarettes and following you with their gaze over the tops of their sunglasses as you walk by. Gives a whole new meaning to constantly looking over your shoulder in a game. I very much enjoy the added animations and skins added for first person mode, such as new cell phone animations and vehicle interiors (that include working speedometer, tachometer, radio screen, etc)
~The online mode has been improved and has a lot of substance to it. I enjoyed designing my character and playing online with a friend. It is very immersive, almost like another complete game in its own
~The graphic and physics/movements are extremely crisp and vivid. Characters in cutscenes look life-like.
~The lighting is very well done - the way sunlight reflects off buildings and the way streetlights reflect off of rain puddles is amazing
~Added some cars and guns to the already large selection
~Rockstar Social Club allows you to design some cool stuff for your online "Crew".
~Vehicle damage seems to have gotten even more accurate and in-depth
~A large amount of new material, overall. Not just a rehash and re-release

    CONS:

~In first person mode while in a car, the rearview and sideview mirrors do not work correctly. They look blurry and distorted
~I have noticed very slight texture pop-in on some buildings while driving (probably happened twice in 10 hours of gameplay)
~You are required to complete the GTA Online Tutorial before you are allowed to invite friends or join up with friends online. So, if you click "SKIP", you will be forced to delete your character and re-create him/her. (Could not find any way to re-do the tutorial)

Overall, I would recommend this game, even if you have already played it on the previous generation of systems. GTA V is a masterpiece of a game, and with this remastered version, Rockstar has made it even better somehow.

Anyway wow. The game is great. I cant believe it but there is some great graphical improvements over the first. The water looks amazing and they definitely sharpened some smaller details. I think these small things certainly make the already great game even better.
Another small thing that is small but makes the experience more enjoyable is the Dual-shock 4 features, from flashing rend and blue during cop chases to police radios and phone calls coming through your controller. I love it, sometimes it make you jump and say what the f*ck when you are playing but whatever.

The new first person feature is pretty cool, to me its nothing amazing. It is not bad for gun fights or just walking around although there are some minor bugs that could be patched. Driving cars on the other hand is nearly impossible. There is little to almost no way of keeping the car somewhat on the road. They should also make the side mirrors reflect everything behind you. It would make it easier to drive and add realism.
One thing they did really well was the focus during gun fights. the graphics look really cinematic in first person and the zoom ability to be able to look down iron sights adds to it greatly.
Although I do not love this feature it is okay, it does not make or break the game for me and it shouldn't for you. I mostly don't like it and don't mind not using it because I am used to GTA being third person along with all other games similar.

As far is the story goes, I like it. Unlike the other reviews here saying its horrible and you cannot follow it, you can. It is not hard to follow at all... It isn't anything gripping or amazing it is meant to be more entertaining and that it is. I laughed my ass off a few times already and i'm sure ill have many more laughs to come especially online with my friends. Oh and lets be honest, I do not play the game for the story I play it to cause mayhem and make the experience great for myself and I am sure i'm not the only one. So make the best of the game think of things you can do to make it great.

As far as online goes I am yet to play it on PS4. I will today with my buddy and ill be sure to update everyone.

Overall the game is amazing and it packs a lot of fun in a small package. Solo is great with or without the story. Graphics are improved. Some small bugs but nothing major. I would recommend the game to anyone. It gets two thumbs up from me. I will be doing a video review soon on my channel in about 4-5 days so I get more gameplay and footage. My channel is the same as my name here.

GTA V was arguably one of the most anticipated and best games of the last generation and it's re-release on the PS4 is highly welcomed but I wouldn't say it's an absolutely essential purchase for everyone, even those who particularly enjoyed it on the PS3.

Firstly; the game looks absolutely astonishing on the current gen with improved textures, additional effects and greater draw distances. The city looks and feels simply incredible and with a greater number of cars and people; it really adds to the atmosphere. There is also a new first-person mode which adds an entirely new dimension to the gameplay and is implemented very well although it wont appeal to everyone as GTA is easier and preferred in 3rd person for many players. These factors however do not warrant an immediate purchase. The game is pretty much the same as before and some may feel GTA V belongs as a memory of the last gen and a fitting finale of what was once possible. No doubt the step up is jaw-dropping in places but this doesn't enhance the story or its missions in any which way.

Committed players may opt to hop onto the multiplayer immediately where they left off but I find this aspect rather shallow. Rockstar will certainly add new and free content down the line but unless you are completely dedicated and enthused by this; you'd probably want to overlook the game for something else especially if you don't have the desire to experience the story again.

Overall; GTA V is still one of the best and most memorable games ever made. Die-hard fans who are still engaged with interest in the MP aspect should certainly purchase but others who aren't so excited should happily look to the future. The game looks staggering but this doesn't constitute to a must-buy even in today's graphics-emphasised era. This game costs full price and even more than the original did on release day. Many won't feel value for money in the product despite the games representing a very generous price for what is on offer. I think gamers will feel a bit burnt out after the time they spent on the game previous and unless you're as excited for the game as you were just over a year ago; you could probably happily avoid this and look at other fantastic titles out now and on the horizon. This however doesn't take away anything that Rockstar have achieved with the game in its time and regardless; GTA V on the PS4 is still a wonderful achievement in gaming that deserves another release.

GTA V was great on current gen, but now in next gen it is shows and proves how amazing a virtual open world is. Now with the smooth game play and "first-person-mode" WHICH I LOVE!!!!!, you can really get to grips with environment, and get completely lost in THEE BEST open world-adventure game ever made!
BIG UPS Rockstar! You guys have delivered us the means to break free and enjoy.

First of all, if this were the release of last year for the PC I would say applause and rate it 7. As this is the re-release and R* decided to take the $ milking route there is no reason to up-rate this game. When before did a company managed to sell a game 3 times in different resolutions which obviously existed from day one? I cannot remember.
So the game is a bit overrated, cannot

So the game is a bit overrated, cannot grasp the uber-valued scores of all the so-called professionals.
The graphics are good but don't make GTA V a new game. The first person view is quite nice feature which they adopted from the modding community. Still the game lacks the fantastic ideas of the series.

Most annoying are the very few assets one can enter. So one gets the feeling being excluded from the game and restricted to the role of the audience.
Los Santos is very small compared to it's predecessor. And the streets are limited by heaps of signs and barriers. While driving one gets the sensation of staying in a cage, like in a hamster wheel.
Unfortunately there is only this one small city and some negligible estates. The whole map is encircled within less than a quarter of an hour. The countryside doesn't offer much.
So all in all GTA V lacks the possibility to merge with the game. There is no way to develop your character.
These 3 shallow guys have nothing like-able, the family of Michael is disgusting, Franklin boring, Trevor a psychopath.
There are no restaurants like before, no gyms, no girlfriends, nearly no secrets to discover. Golf and Yoga is a bad joke. To value a game just by it's graphics would be too narrowly considered. The Grand Theft Auto series was already unbeatable though the graphics were low.
Hopefully GTA VI will re-introduce a lot of walkable assets and the role play elements of the predecessors. Maybe a future DLC can give back GTA V some of the old spirit which made the series world-celebrated. The actual release should be called: GTA V - Remastered

Hey-hey, Master Race, wait for your turn, than you can talk **** about "GRAPHIX". You can even hate game, because it's poorly optimized. And spend another hundreds of dollars for awesome "1 month upgrade".

Now about the game. First of all, FPV it's great, but you need get used to it and I don't recommend driving a car in FPV (but it's cool sometimes). Also you can configure camera

Now about the game. First of all, FPV it's great, but you need get used to it and I don't recommend driving a car in FPV (but it's cool sometimes). Also you can configure camera angle. Story is average, but Trevor makes story better and more entertaining (I didn't saw new story missions yet, but I heard they not bad). Loading still a bit long, but 10 times faster than past-gen. New music kinda good, kinda not, because I'm more in Metal, I can't really say anything about it.

Multiplayer... well, it's nice, I don't know maximum number of people in one game session, but I don't think it's changed. Now there is lots of new fauna and flora, which makes world real and you want to explore it more and this factor important in open world game.

In the end, this big update for regular GTA V, which is worth money only if you've never played it.

Called Gamestop to check in on my preorder and they said I can get it at 9pm because Rockstar gave the go ahead to sell it matching the East coast midnight. Got lucky there.

    Best game of all time.

This is not merely a port , many new things have been added into the game , still filled with believe-able and powerful characters and a magical vibe found in Rockstar's masterpiece improved and remastered.

First person view makes this game WAY Different experience and I love it. I kinda wish you could make it 3rd person view for driving AND first person for walking around.

GTA V is still a awesome game, but I think the graphics could be better. Very excited about the PC version of the game. If you already played it on the old-gen consoles, I don't think the game is worth to be re bought

The definitive version of what is quite possibly the greatest game ever made. It's worth reliving. [Feb 2015, p.58]

The best game on PS3 is now the best thing on PS4. A loving, comprehensive remaster of such quality, it's damn near as essential as oxygen. But it. Yesterday. [Jan 2015, p.91]

An excellent remake of an outstanding game that doesn't merely come with cosmetic improvements. What does it mean? You certainly need to have this piece at home, even if you have the original version. [Issue#248]
