    The best word to describe this game is "grandeur." It takes the phrase "go big or go home" to heart. Not in just the combat but in the environment as well which is arguably the most stunning feature of this game. I can confidently say that I've never experienced a game with as much lore connected with its environment. There are grandiose statues everywhere which all have stories to tell and reasons why they are there. Even some of the creatures have an enormous sense of scale. It felt like I was really immersed in the world of Norse mythology.

    The characters are all unique and enthralling. Even just standing around or riding in my boat had me engaged in the conversations that everyone was having. This, mixed with the environment, made the story immersive. Don't go into this expected an oscar-worthy script but, nevertheless, it delivers on the feeling and emotion behind the father-son relationship.

    While the battles and cinematography felt amazing, there were some animations that soon became stale. Specifically, the execution animations, and especially for trolls. I really wish they could've come up with a few more execution animations to keep things interesting. Additionally, I delved into the harder difficulty (not the "give me god of war" difficulty) and was sadly greeted with the classic sponge mechanic. The game is harder just because the enemies have more health. You don't feel nearly as lethal as on the "balanced" difficulty. If they had left enemy health untouched but made their damage more lethal, then I think the hard difficulty would've been more engaging.

    Aside from this, I thoroughly enjoyed this game and believe it to be the defining game of the PS4. It will stand as an example for all semi-linear story games to come.    … Expand

    One of the greatest reinventions of a franchise in gaming history. This game has the best direction in a game ive ever seen, the "no cut" camera work was the best decision that director Cory Barlog could have made for the narrative. Game play wise it is another stellar reinvention in the closer 3rd person perspective and much more visceral hard hitting combat.

    Não gosto muito desse estilo de jogo meio Souls-Like, mas a narrativa é muito boa e tocante, os cenários do jogo são bem bonitos. Um 9 merecido.

    I was sceptical at the begining with the change to north mythology and the change in the gameplay. But I ended loving the father and son story and the more rpg oriented gameplay. I enjoyed crafting the armors, trying different sets and fighting the bosses in God of War mode.

    I really liked the direction they took with this new God of War. The story and characters are well written. The inversion is very intense. But the gameplay was not as enjoyable to me as in other games like Spider-Man, so only a 9 to me.

    The polished combat combined with an amazing story makes for a fantastic gaming experience. The beautiful open world with its many hidden secrets is the cherry on top which makes your journey that much more enjoyable. Highly recommend.

    I was a bit sceptical when I saw that they had completely revamped the combat and now had an escort mission vibe but after borrowing the game, I loved every minute of it. If you loved the previous games you should definitely give this one a chance. There is something here for the new and old fans of the franchise. The story is excellent, combat is good, Graphics are amazing.

    The gameplay is soo good better than TLOU2 gameplay which is already pretty good 10/10 but the worst about this game is that we can't use these amazing gameplay mechanics on diffrent types of enemies or bosses a series lack of bosses and enmy types of eneimies and also the lackluster half open world it aint perfect like most games but    Overrated AF the story is fine ill give it a 7/10

    Santa Mónica supo perfectamente cómo revivir una saga que ya lo había dado absolutamente todo en el Hack and Slash espartano y convertirla en un juego de aventuras nórdico. Me quedó como una espinillita el no poder viajar a todos los mundos que te presenta. Vale que ahora en la secuela se puede, pero joder, no me los presentes y los bloquees, que te quedas con ganas de más.

    God Of War is in my opinion one of the best Playstation 4 exclusive games out there. The tone is much different than its predecessors and the gameplay is fun and engaging. The story and the way Kratos and Atreus build their relationship until the final climax is truly remarkable. I would prefer if there were more bosses, but ,while not being many, the bosses are very good and fun with muchGod Of War is in my opinion one of the best Playstation 4 exclusive games out there. I have one problem though, the enemies are very repetitive and not that interesting. Still, despite its flaws the game is very-well crafted with much detail being put on to it. Cory Barlog did an amazing job with showing how Kratos wants his son not to become this angry, simple-minded person that his father once was. The game gives many references to the other games and respects their role in building this franchise. I'm not saying that the other GOW games are not good, they are excellent games with fantastic set pieces, but this games takes that and goes a step further by being a mindblowing single-player experience with many more power-ups and gameplay mechanics.… Expand

    Amazing story. Great stunning visuals, graphics is decent. Animations and cut-scenes are really good. Combat system is a bit cumbersome, especially on hard or max difficulty. It’s worth playing just to see this story.

    An absolute Santa Monica Studio's opus magnum. Great gameplay, story and rewarding combat. Like every slasher game, regardless of difficulty you gonna go like through butter near the game's end but beside that: the game that every ps4 owner MUST play!

    I've only just come across this game due to covid lockdown...its great...especially at only £10! Great fun to play, decent graphics, storyline is ok, though some of the narrative from Mimir made me laugh out loud! Battles are great, though the very last Valkyrie, Sigrun, is tough! I liked the open-world-ish nature of the game, though if you can see it you should be able to walk over it!I've only just come across this game due to covid lockdown...its great...especially at only £10!     En termino de diseño, el diseño de enemigos esta bastante    genialidad pura, esas son las palabras con la que definiría god of war, la premisa parece bastante sencilla, un padre y su hijo que se disponen a ir a la montaña mas alta para esparcir las cenizas de su difunta esposa/madre, pero son los suceso que complican este sencillo viaje lo que le da la chispa de emoción a este trayecto.

    En termino de diseño, el diseño de enemigos esta bastante bien aunque e de decir que la variedad esta regular, mismo enemigos pero con un color diferente y elemento diferente, los escenarios son bastantes coloridos y llenos de flora y fauna (dependiendo de la zona en la que te encuentres), una paleta de colores bastante atractiva y con un detalle sublime,

    mirando mas a la jugabilidad, se nota el cambio extremo que hicieron en la cámara y en la jugabilidad misma, al principio el cambio se te hará incomodo si vienes de jugar los anteriores títulos la cámara situada un poco mas arriba del hombro de Kratos da como resultado una perspectiva mas intima incluso sintiendo la fuerza de cada golpe de Kratos, no encontraras la variedad de armas con la que estarás acostumbrado no obstante las que encontraras en el juego tiene variedad en movimientos, permitiéndote hacer las combinaciones que mejor se te acomoden a tu estilo de juego, hay enemigos que no le hará daño cierto tipo de arma por lo cual tendrás que cambiarla obligándote a jugar con ambas, la dificultad del juego la encontré un poco baja (jugando en la dificultad difícil) pero lo suficiente retador como para no aburrir

    notaras la evolución de Kratos con su hijo mientras avanzas en la historia encariñándote con ambos
    la banda sonora es bastante buena, poniendo los temas precisos en el momento preciso.

    para concluir god of war es un juego que podría considerarse arte, buenos gráficos buen gameplay, buena banda sonora y con una historia que te enamora mas y mas mientras avanzas en el juego    … Expand

    La dificultad y la progresión están muy bien medidas y planteadas,
    Todo el tema del plano secuencia, la cinematografía es espectacular, el movimiento, las animaciones, lo visceral que es, está todo tan bien hecho que es una maravilla.
    Los personajes secundarios, las tramas secundarias, los giritos para contar la historia de Kratos, y bueno, el giro final es espectacular. Cosas buenas:    La dificultad y la progresión están muy bien medidas y planteadas,
    Todo el tema del plano secuencia, la cinematografía es espectacular, el movimiento, las animaciones, lo visceral que es, está todo tan bien hecho que es una maravilla.
    Los personajes secundarios, las tramas secundarias, los giritos para contar la historia de Kratos, y bueno, el giro final es espectacular.

    I loved this game so much. I have never played a God of War game, never having had a PlayStation. But I finally got a PS5 and this is one of the games that topped the list of what I needed to play. And I'm so glad I did. I feel like I got a perfect idea of Kratos' character (I also watched and read a bunch about backstory before playing). I loved his relationship developing with Atreus andI loved this game so much. I have never played a God of War game, never having had a PlayStation. But I finally got a PS5 and this is one of the games that topped the list of what I needed to play. And I'm so glad I did. I feel like I got a perfect idea of Kratos' character (I also watched and read a bunch about backstory before playing). Kratos actually feels like a well rounded character now rather than some one dimensional caricature and I can't wait to see where his and Atreus' story goes next.     This game is a masterpiece. It contains a great story with interesting characters and plot, an engaging dark souls-inspired combat system and an amazing atmosphere, having a rich world with incredible visuals, accompanied by a lifting soundtrack. My only complaint is the lack of enemy and boss variety, though it is a minor flaw which hardly makes the experience any less enjoyable.

    I have no experience with the God of War series but I am an avid gamer. I've played every genre and my favorites are the Souls series and action RPGs. GoW is undeniably awesome, with great combat, storytelling (albeit simple), and flow. My only gripe is that I wished I didn't have to wait so much.     My first introduction to God of war which led me looking for videos to dive deeper into the story. The game has great atmospheric music a great combat system witch is both fun and challenging, the ending leaving me eager for the next release. Overall a great game and a must play.

    One of the best or maybe even the best game for the PS4. However, I also think that the next part could be even better.
    For example, with even more types of enemies and more animations of finishers!
    Very very good game. Level design, sound and battle system are almost perfect. However, I also think that there is just a bit more in it to make it flawless.

    I'm a little late to the party, but man was this a great experience. Excellent world building coupled with visceral combat and loveable characters, this game certainly still holds up after 3 and a half years. I played on Normal difficulty, and still felt that there were plenty of challenges to complete even once I beat the main story.

Okay I'll start by saying that the game is definitely good, but it has a lot of cinematic climbs that just take away from the experience, a lot of parts that the game does not let you run just to show the world that the developers built
    (I can see the world even without the game letting me run), lest you misunderstand the world the developers built here is just amazing, you can go anywhere on the map and discover new things to find upgrades, and magical accessories, and in short the world in God Of War 2018 is just perfect. The gameplay in the game is just fun, it's true that in the previous review it took me a while to get used to the new gameplay style, but after I got used to it it will just be fun and more varied than the previous games (even though they are not the same genre). Spoiler) also the swords from the previous games, which you get towards the end of the game. The plot in God Of War 2018 is simply interesting and sweeping. But I did not so much connect the main thing that you go on a journey, to scatter the ashes of Kratos' wife and mother of Atreus on the highest mountain, but it does not matter so much because the characters are written so great and the relationship between Kratos and Atreus has often made me shed tear. Another thing that really annoyed me in this game is the last battle (spoiler for the end of the game), the last battle is just boring and not fun at all, it's just annoying that the whole battle you touch nothing and just see Kratos and baldur
    (I have no idea what this name is called in Hebrew) Beats go cinematically almost the entire battle, and only sometimes cross the square to see it satisfying, and defend when Baldur gives you punches. Only at the end there is a fight that at least lets you really fight against it but it ended up so fast it kinda pissed me off.
    In conclusion God Of War 2018 is a great game but it is not really a perfect game (at least in my opinion), and I am very much looking forward to the next game in the God Of War Ragnarok series that will add more bosses
    (Because I felt like this game was almost empty of real bosses), and that would give me more control over the game than seeing cinematic stuff.    … Expand

    The game has very good graphics and musics. It took some time for me to get into the story but it might be because I did not play the other GoW games. The only thing I didn’t really like was the sudden change in Atreus’ personality halfway through the game, I know why it’s there for story reasons, but I was really loving him as a character until that point, but in the end I still loved him. As someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with their dad at ALL, so I guess the main relationship dynamic at this game’s heart doesn’t really resonate with me for personal reasons, although I loved every bonding moment we got to see between Kratos and Atreus. I just couldn’t relate to it and that’s perfectly ok because this game isn’t about me, obviously. Everyone already knows this game is a masterpiece, so if you somehow haven’t had it grace your console yet, fix that please. So the story for this game might not be as good as Ragnarok, but it's still amazing primarily of what was established in the previous games since the main character was been through a lot and that's not something him and you don't want your kid to go through all over again because your past will always catch up with you but before I get into the bigger picture, I wanna talk about the other great parts. This game looks amazing on a PS4 Pro not necessarily for the graphics, but for the art style as it helps the graphics stand on it's 2 legs and ensure it looks great evennowadays, the combat might feel strange especially since this is coming off of a franchise with fixed camera angles, absolute chaos, and especially MASSIVE boss fights to help you feel satisfied you did it, in this game, it's pretty much an over-the-shoulder one shot camera so you're up close to the action and I would argue this improves upon the franchise since it helps you feel like Kratos with how the camera never cuts and you're up close meaning you feel like you're there when creating a massacre on the battlefield. Actually creating a massacre is pretty damn easy with how well the combat flows since it can feel incredible to understand the combat and make your enemies look like pathetic obstacles in your way. The level design is great since it's complex enough for there to be decent puzzles that aren't solvable immediately and you need to genuinely think about how you're gonna deal with it. There was also this one time when I was opening a crate and there was a jumpscare and it genuinely got me, so much so that even though it only happened once, it was enough to the point where I took a step back whenever I saw another crate even during the entirety of God of War: Ragnarok. The side quests are great since they are connected to the lore and not just filler to increase the run time. The dialogue, performances, soundtrack, and writing are top tier and ensure you are incredibly immersed throughout the entire game and the boss battles are good just enough to remind everyone they're playing a God of War game. Now while there are some sections of the map that are locked behind a certain wall meaning you'll have to come back later, I would argue this comes to the games benefit since it means you'll come back later with the equipment you need, but then you'll also find something else on that same island you initially missed you need to get closer to full completion. But all of this is just an extension of the bigger picture since there's more to this story than just the characters, graphics, combat, side quests, story, or even the destination itself: it's the entire journey. Throughout this game, the journey you go through feels relateable since it feels wonderfully paced and helps a father and son learn to trust each other no matter what which in turn helps you relate to these characters even further. Now there are some problems like the enemy variety since most of the time you will face the exact same mini boss over and over again and this easily gets repetitive, the end game is good but not great since you need to do a decent amount of grinding but that personally never bothered me, but the main thing that bothered me personally was how it tries to tell a story similar to The Last of Us but doesn't quite succeed with how the stakes don't feel high and instead you only feel improved in those stakes instead of stripped down and desperate. But with all that being said, this game is absolutely incredible and succeeds on all fronts to ensure it's a genuine masterpiece. If you happen to have a PS4, why haven't you ever picked up this game when it first came out? But now that it's on PC and even verified for the Steam Deck, there's no better time to pick up this masterpiece than right now.… Expand

    It's an awesome game, great gameplay and combats, deep well rounded characters and beautiful graphics.
    It doesn't get a 10 from me because of the exhausting number of collectables. So many mods that it gets super overwhelming and makes you loose hours and hours in the office to basically do nothing.
    Next one, please simplify the collectables and mods.

    PS4 banger, the gameplay bossfights and nordic ancient worlds and creatures excuted perfectly with such a graphics, Kratos ofcourse is wiser now and more responsible but not less destructive, everything in this game is perfect yet the plot was more of a link than it’s being the thing, Ragnarok so it seems will be the epic sequel, God of war 2018 is a 9.5/10 for me

    Beautiful game, much different than GOW 3 which was very inferior. GOW 2018 is a top game with similar interaction and gameplay like Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Last of us and other games. I didn't like GOW 3, but I liked GOW 2018. BUY IT !

    This game does everything it tries to do masterfully, the combat is one of the best, most nuanced ones I've ever seen, the story is externally simple, yet internally clever and complex, and he visuals and music are absolutely stunning. Puzzle elements can be obnoxious and bog pacing, as frequent as they are, but don't take much away from the brilliance.

    Played on PS5. The game ran well and the story is very engaging.

    The game doesn't drag on and makes you want to keep playing.

    Felt the puzzles could have been more difficult and the hints should be able to be turned off.

    The game devs took a big chance with this game with it being a lot more slow and story based but it paid off. This game is up there in my top 5 of all time and the next game in the series is just around the corner, i can't wait...
