God Eater Resurrection

God Eater Resurrection is quite fun and enjoyable, but if you play alone it gets repetitive after a few hours. Still, its mechanics and core gameplay are good, so it's worth a try.

There’s nothing here you haven’t already seen in Monster Hunter (and many games released since), but God Eater is nothing if not effective, and thanks to its strong premise, impressive Aragami and fantastic selection of utterly outrageous weaponry, Resurrection represents a genuine alternative for those who find themselves a little overawed by Capcom’s unforgiving equivalent.

In the end, it can feel like a tedious grind. If you can round up buddies for online multiplayer and like the idea of a faster version of Monster Hunter, then God Eater Resurrection is a good way to begin your feast.

I largely enjoyed my time with God Eater: Resurrection. Even though it’s a little too padded with filler missions featuring the same roaming enemies over and over, laying into Aragami with massive hammers and swords that could cut dumpsters in half generally makes for some good times.

God Eater: Resurrection is a very fun hunting game, though it's not perfect. It's great that there is another alternative to the Monster Hunter formula available to us, though. Between this, and Koei Tecmo's rising Toukiden franchise, it's proving to be a really good period for this little genre.

A solid game, fun and showing a surprising amount of depth in both its story and mechanics. If you’ve been looking for a good monster hunting experience and don’t have a Nintendo 3DS, this is definitely a game you’ll want to check out.

God Eater Resurrection may not be a must-have game, but seeing that its genre isn’t over-saturated allows it to stand firmly on its own. Whether you’re returning from the PSP game or are just looking for a new Monster Hunter-esque fix, this game will definitely scratch the hunting itch for you.

As a standalone game, God Eater Resurrection is a decent time.

The game actually has a quality feel to it, especially in terms of voice acting, soundtrack and the overall graphics, and I can see a lot of potential in the game, but the gameplay really needs more variety in mission structure and combat.

God Eater Resurrection is a fun 40-hour experience that keeps you going with its gameplay mechanics and customization. The dark story falls flat at points, with the gameplay saving this game from a lackluster story.

The concept and the combat both give it a unique identity over Monster Hunter, and could lend itself to great things that help make it stand out. But the amateurish story direction and outdated control schemes hinder its chances to emerge from the shadow of Capcom’s multimillion dollar franchise.
