As a long time fan of the original God Eater I thought Resurrection was really good. The new mechanics added more variety to the combat and the addition of online co-op was great. There are a few minor changes that I didn't like, but they were extremely minor and didn't take away from any of the fun.

This game greatly exceeded my expectations. As a port of a PSP game, and having never played the genre before, I wasn't expecting much. Instead, I've been playing for a month and a half to the exclusion of other games. There are some rough edges, particularly with finding a crafting material in the giant, non-filterable list. This title is everything to me, its an amazing game, i played this game since his psp realease, God Eater Burst, and for those who arent aware, this game was released in 2010, and then remastered in 2015 with a diferent name (God Eater Resurrection), its story is actually amazing and immersive, the soundtracks are great, some reasonable bugs, the game has good mechanics.
    A funny thing i

A funny thing i wanna share, everytime you play with scythe weapon and your character says "lets give them some slashes" (i dont remembre the right sentence, it happens when you use ur special melee abilitie), well, i was the one getting slashed or "hit by a truck", but yeah, be aware of that o.O
Sidenote: The second title after this game, its more of the same, bcs they used different characters with the same backstory as this one, a full repeat in my opinion, but graphically worst and not a bit emersive.
Hope i helped, and you can check my review of the second game also.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game's opening is very good, but it has spoilers so I don't recommend watching until God Eater Burst is cleared. This game has been released 3 times, each with new additions. And because of that the story is basically divided into 3 arcs, God Eater, God Eater Burst and Ressurection.

The first arc is really good. The beginning of the story is really cool, it makes you curious about some mysteries and the way you introduce the characters is okay (except for Alisa, which I thought was better done). In the first two or three hours there is even a very heavy moment (the death of a God Eater and then shows his family at the base and everyone in 'mourning') that I found very interesting but the problem is that the character didn’t have time or to present yourself properly. Another thing was that they tried to make a 'sentimental' moment for Lindow too soon, if they had waited another chapter and made more interactions it would have been a lot better. I divide the first arc into 2 parts, pre-Shio and post-Shio, pre-Shio I found the story very good post-Shio it is weaker even though it has some really cool things like its character development. My problem with this part was Shio itself, I didn't think she was a good character despite the enormous development she provides to Soma and moreover most of the interactions between the party characters in cutscenes were exchanged for moments of interaction with Shio ( if she had half the focus and it wasn't something so important to the story I would have liked it more). But the villain and his whole plan and its consequences I thought were really good and his motivation made total sense. The outcome was very cool even though it was open. The world that the story takes place is very interesting and its lore is very good. Something that surprised me was the characters, all of them developed during the story and add to it. Even the secondary characters I found nice and some even realistic. HQ conversations between missions are very good.

The second arc is cool (certainly inferior and simpler than the first original arc / game), it is almost an epilogue. It shows some consequences of the events of the first one and focuses mainly on the dangerous routine of the God Eaters while the Lindow's arc takes place slowly in the background until it reaches its climax. This climax of the story is cool, mainly thanks to Lindow and his great ending (but when you stop to analyze the explanations / resolutions that the script created you realize that it doesn't make any sense). Aside that Rem was a 'Shio again', it could have been something other than sacrifice as a means of resolution. The dialogues between the missions are still very good. The number of cutscenes has decreased dramatically and their quality has increased slightly. Just a few new Aragamis, and they're all just reskins of the classics (apart from Hannibal and one more). The new characters are okays, I liked how the recruits interacted in the story but it was good just because they were recruits. The scene that the MC talks about is very badass, and because it is the first one so far, it gives one more emotion, but it definitely doesn’t make up for not having more lines from him. The outcome of this arc gives the impression of something much more 'complete' than that of the first (even though it still ends in the open lol). And when the wedding design appeared, I almost didn't believe it. :)

The number of couscous is lower than in the first arc here too, but higher than in the second and the quality of the animations is better (and most of them were done in a different way). Again only a few new Aragamis, but they are different and well made. Some new songs, but they are inferior to the original ones and most are just remix. The story and the script are definitely simpler than the first arc. This bow takes too long to engage in the story but when things start to get serious (after the cutscene that your team is defeated if I'm not mistaken) it gets good, it creates some tension even in hunting Aragamis and the resolution of this bow was the that I liked the most (even if nothing is too much, it's better than a cliché sacrifice). In this arc the recruits develop a little, stop being recruits and I started to like them a little (even though they are inferior to the other secondary characters). There is also some development of Soma in that arc. The outcome is really cool, the cutscene of the battle with the protagonist talking is badass and that farewell to Shio was cool too (but it's an open ending, humanity just keeps surviving).

The gameplay is very deep and I really liked it. The Predator Style at first does not seem like much, the game gives the illusion of being nothing too much at first, but throughout the game you unlock more movements and the predator style becomes practically essential and very badass. The variety of weapons is quite large, there are 10 types of weapons, each with a huge variety.

God Eater Resurrection is quite fun and enjoyable, but if you play alone it gets repetitive after a few hours. Still, its mechanics and core gameplay are good, so it's worth a try.

Released in Japan last October, God Eater Resurrection has given back to the original game the popularity it deserved. To this day is undoubtedly the best alternative to Monster Hunter.

There’s nothing here you haven’t already seen in Monster Hunter (and many games released since), but God Eater is nothing if not effective, and thanks to its strong premise, impressive Aragami and fantastic selection of utterly outrageous weaponry, Resurrection represents a genuine alternative for those who find themselves a little overawed by Capcom’s unforgiving equivalent.
