This game is great for a $20 purchase! It has a classic arcade feel to it and all the characters play differently enough to accomdate replay value. The local co-op is a great feature, it reminds me of tossing quarters at arcades with friends back when arcades were still popular in America

I found the game fast pace and fun. Especially fun when others join the game for co-op mode. Each character has his/her own abilities and working together as a team is sometimes the only way past a level. I highly recommend getting some friends together and killing some beast.

This game is so fun (PS4), controls are fluent, gfx and game-play rock solid, excellent coop (couch mode or online) madness. I do enjoy the humor this game has compared to Diablo III, they don`t take it too serious and not as complex to micro manage inventory , skills, stats etc... Well worth the pre-order! Lots of replay value and fun for everyone!

I remember when I'm a child, Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is a great to play with your friends... It´s hard for me, in some level we need to try 10 times, but finnaly I pass the game.
Good time for spend in this game.

The game works 'out of the box'. It plays like the original gauntlet just with modern graphics. For those too young to remember Gauntlet Legacy isn't like the original in any way shape or form. The Local 4 player works just like you'd expect on a console which makes it the Superior version compared to the PC version which is painful to get to work local 4 player.

This is a great game to get for the family. I'll be playing this with my daughters just as I did with my father, and brothers in the 80's. I'm sure extra controllers will be under the tree this year.

The only thing that seems to be missing is the color coding. It hasn't said anything like "Red Warrior Shot the Food". It does make commentary about the warrior destroying the food, but I do miss classic phrase just a bit.

Note: I did get this for free with a PS+ account, and may be why this seems even more acceptable to me then paid versions.

A solid single-player dungeon crawler that gets even better with friends. The hack n' slash can be rather simplistic on it's own, and there isn't a huge amount of abilities. With levels part procedurally generated there is a little something to keep you coming back to it's relatively short campaign.

The game is all about getting gold. You'll use it to buy new abilities and outfits for whatever class you choose to play as. It's a little disappointing that there isn't a loot system, which adds to the more simplistic feeling the game has, but overall that doesn't really ruin the game for me.

To also help extend the life of the package, there are two other modes in the game. "Endless" is about what you would expect given the name. You (and preferably some buddies) just try to get as far as you can while collecting gold and slaughtering your way through the dungeons. "Colosseum" offers more brutal challenges for co-op teams looking for a fight. A new challenge pops up daily. As you might expect from the game, the higher the difficulty the greater the reward.

As far as the actual co-op aspect goes, it all works great. You get local and online co-op. All of the classes work together well. I personally enjoy the slight competitive nature of the teamwork. It's always a race to get to the gold first. Screwing over your teammate by destroying or eating that piece of food when they're low on health could give you the opportunity to help yourself to their gold should they get killed. Teamwork is the focus on the game, but giving players the option to screw each other over adds a little bit more fun to the experience. Fighting over those crowns (which give you extra gold when you complete a level) can be quite fun.

It might not have the depth of it's peers in the genre, but when it comes down to it the game is still a lot of fun. If you're just looking for some simple, hack n' slash dungeon crawling fun then this is a game worth checking out. There might not be too much content, but what's here is worth playing if you are a looking for even more co-op fun for a relatively cheaper price.

Most fun I had in years. Hack and Slashing has never been this exciting - there seems to be a lack of characters however, but what makes this a really fresh experience is that each player is totally different with a unique game-type, and depending who you choose will determine what type of experience you will have.

Plenty of hack & slash in both solo and a multiplayer format. Good price, kept me entertained for hours. 4 different classes that all feel entirely different to play. I'm not sure how interesting the Necromancer DLC is, but it's there to check out.

A solid entry in the Gauntlet series. Isometric RPG-wise, it'll feel like you've been here before. But the nature of Gauntlet lies in its arcade style and I think this release embodies that well. Local and online co-op has been a blast.

I would've liked more levels and more enemy variety, but still a good purchase. Especially if you find it discounted below the $20 pricetag.

A super fun dungeon crawler and nothing else. Satisfying gameplay and fun co-op ARE the real draws of this package, and i will gladly play a stage or two next time I am bored.

Hurrah! PS+ provides a good time filler.

Whilst Fallout4 still has me at it's mercy and most of my gaming time going to Bethesda, again, I have got the missus into Gauntlet as a 2 player game we can enjoy together. Given its not twin stick (such as Dead Nation) she can handle the simplistic controls. We've played a few hours so far and made our way through the vibrant and well

We've played a few hours so far and made our way through the vibrant and well designed levels. Alike the original series, this PS4 rebirth has kept to the swing and slash button bash fun that the original was made on. This true Coin-Op feel is something that's been missing I feel from modern games, and whilst I imagine the re playability may not be there particularly for Gauntlet, who cares. As a free game it's really fun, not Rocket League fun, but not that far off either!

The graphics are pretty, the controls are very responsive and the local multiplayer mode is great fun - online seems pretty cool also.

For what it is, this is a little gem of a game and i think it would become repetitive after some time - but right now it's pure fun to play

Short Review - Good Graphics, game play is like Diablo but it have a funny story and more arcade felling. Fun to play with friends. Need characters mixing their powers in the next.

Gauntlet is pretty good, I am surprised at all the low user scores. It really depends on your expectation of what the game is I guess. This is not a AAA game or an RPG, it's just arcade isometric combat, and for what it does, it does very well. It is also "free" now on PS+, which is how I got it.

I was most pleased by the gameplay mechanics of combat, there is a lot of enjoyment to me

I was most pleased by the gameplay mechanics of combat, there is a lot of enjoyment to me with the archer mechanics especially, the bombs and firing sticky bombs is very well done with a ton of depth.

And to top it off there are great local co-op options, a rarity these days.

My only real complaint is the font size is incredibly small, and not really designed with proper couch play in mind.

It’s not so much fun when you play on your own, but when you play in a group- it’s great. Gauntlet is good for coop fun. In you can’t play with friends you miss all the fun.

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is a passable action-RPG for those desperately looking for a dungeon crawler to play with friends but it doesn’t offer much in the way of replayability or unique concepts to really recommend past that.

There are moments in Gauntlet: Slayer Edition that shine. Whether it’s successfully taking out a room full of enemies with your three co-op partners or, even better, single-handedly, because your friends already died and now they owe you a debt. These are the moments that people will play for despite its repetitive nature, but that repetition is ultimately the deal-breaker and the other issues only serve to reinforce that there are other games in the genre that do it better.
