    Friday the 13th is one of those games that on its face, looks pretty bad. The game is glitchy, matchmaking is slow, and even the game play itself can be pretty "meh". But at the same time, it has given me some of the most hilarious moments I have experienced in a decade of gaming. The one kid we had on the team who would beg and plead with Jason every time he got killed. The guy who asFriday the 13th is one of those games that on its face, looks pretty bad. The game is glitchy, matchmaking is slow, and even the game play itself can be pretty "meh". But at the same time, it has given me some of the most hilarious moments I have experienced in a decade of gaming. The one kid we had on the team who would beg and plead with Jason every time he got killed. The guy who as constantly played "Walk like an Egyptian" on his mic whenever he was Jason. The guy who drove across the whole damn map in the 4 seater only to smash into a tree 3 feet from the exit. These moments easily make up for all the previously mentioned issues.     A beautiful train wreck. A project of love with the best of intentions ruined by petty lawsuits and a company that wasn't able to handle how popular their creation became. This game is a brilliant concept that is executed (pardon the pun) fairly well. If this were released by a triple A game studio it would be a masterpiece. It's a ton of fun to play with friends. The community, like almost all online games, is pretty toxic. Not anywhere near as bad as Dead by Daylights game community. The different Jason's look amazing and all play with a unique style. The maps are amazing and the attention to detail from the films is a true joy to look at. A real love letter to the series. If only the game could have continued with new content. It never reached it's full potential and was plagued from day one by a company that wasn't able to handle the issues of this type of game.

    That said, I still play it almost 2 years after launch weekly. It's worth a purchase or rental. I hope to see more asymmetrical games like this in the future.    … Expand

    Really fun game, its a must have for friday's the 13th fans. The music when jason is near you really build up stress. You can feel the power and immortality when you play jason. Bringing back memories!

    The horror and slasher fan in me was literally giddy with excitement as I sat down to indulge in Gun Media's love letter to one of slasher cinema's greats.

    For those not quite in the know (or for those who've grown up under a rock) Friday The 13th is a series of horror/slasher films starting in 1980 and centered around Jason Voorhees, a maniacal killer who drowned as a child in Crystal Lake while the camp counselors shagged like crazy. The first film saw his mother, Pamela Voorhees slaying the new camp staff one by one until she met her demise - and enter Jason.

    Jason developed from a lonely, psychopathic survivor who sought revenge for the death of his mother into an undead behemoth seemingly intent on slaying anyone who crossed his path.

    Anyhoo, the game!!

    Think Evolve crossed with Until Dawn and you're sort of on the right track with Friday The 13th. Seven players take on the guises of the camp counselors - all with their own stats and personalities, and one person becomes the eponymous Jason. His goal is to slaughter them all. The counselors have to survive or escape by repairing vehicles around the map, calling the police in or simply hiding until the time limit expires to survive the night. The only problem? Jason is out to eliminate them all.

    Jason has some pretty cool abilities he can utilize and they explain certain aspects of the way he seems to be everywhere or in the right place at the right time in the films. His "Sense" ability allows him to see counselors hiding places which glow a deep red. That might seem like a massive advantage but bear in mind that the counselors can switch radios on or creep slowly to minimize the Sense ability. Play the radio in a cabin and Jason's Sense shows the whole cabin glowing red which means that there is somebody hiding in there - he just can't pinpoint where unless he enters and searches.

    It balances out the fairness and means the protagonists have better odds of survival. Sort of.

    Jason also has some other pretty cool abilities such as the ability to teleport to a chosen point on the map and a first person POV hunt cam which works similar to the effect in The Evil Dead when the evil force is travelling to the cabin. It's very satisfying hurtling along through the woods towards a glowing red camp counselor and grabbing them as you emerge from the first person POV.

    So we move onto the kills. It wouldn't be Friday The 13th without some gruesome deaths and Jason thankfully has some awesome ones at his beck and call. The simple but effective choke and neck snap, ramming a machete down the throat, stamping on the face, ramming the head into a bird bath and then smashing a large stone over their head - the kills are lavish and beautiful and sound savage. It's particularly rewarding to use the hunt cam to fly through the map chasing a counselor and appear in front of them, grabbing them by the throat before uppercutting their head clean off.

    Glitches do make the game occasionally annoying - connection issues still occur where you sit waiting to connect to a game for ages. But the love that the developers evidently have for the franchise shows through and with input from Tom Savini, Sean Cunningham and Kane Hodder himself, Friday The 13th : The Game is an exciting and fun jump into the horror set piece.    … Expand

    I followed the kickstarter but missed out on actually supporting them and buying the game back then. Anyhow, the game is fun, it does just what it set out to do. You try to escape by the means available in the movies or you die. When you are Jason you feel powerful and you get to scare the sh*t out of the campers. The only thing I am missing is a few more maps and some fixed glitches. TheI followed the kickstarter but missed out on actually supporting them and buying the game back then. Anyhow, the game is fun, it does just what it set out to do. You try to escape by the means available in the movies or you die. When you are Jason you feel powerful and you get to scare the sh*t out of the campers. The only thing I am missing is a few more maps and some fixed glitches. The server issue was not a suprise and I can overlook that as it is a indie game. Bad thing for those who can't play at all though without a single mode (will come I know)

    I'll take 2 points away from a perfect score, but the game does exactly what it promised and gives you the feeling of the movies in a game. Not exactly something that happens frequently in the movie to game world. FUN!    … Expand

    Has very basic gameplay but its still fun. its very addictive I recommend it but it can get boring in singleplayer but in multiplayer oh god its like a party.

    Just got done playing and I love it although I do think the movements are really stiff at times overall a fun time chasing as jason is cool and easy to pick up but I think once everyone has played as jason once their hiding skills will change drastically.

    Calling all Jason Voorhees fanboys! (Or fangirls!) This is just about all you could ask for based on the IP that is Friday The 13th. If you are a video game whiner that can't stand minor glitches or internet serverload times - yeah... stay away. If you are a patient person that can support a product even in it's early days - AND you love to play as Jason, hunting down and eliminatingCalling all Jason Voorhees fanboys! (Or fangirls!) Then this game is for you. Yes, it is much like the Battlefield4 release back in the day when the new systems came out. Full of all kinds of buggy surprises. And for an IP that is as cheesy as it is... you have to kind of expect a cheesy game... These are not the guys at EA that have huge budgets to work with... You take what you can get. And considering the budget and work that these guys but in... I think it turned out great. Controls and graphics are not the best, but game play is fun... Audio is excellent, many different types of Jason models to use in the game... It is so awesome to see all the different Jasons from the movies. Different counselors have different abilities to use for different situations... lots of fun features are built into the game as far as counselors being able to communicate thru headsets IF they find walkie talkies... It is hard for the counselors to escape and win the game... but isn't that what you would expect in a Friday The 13th game??!!??
    If you love Friday the 13th and love anything Jason... you will love this game after a little bit of time to figure out the controls, maps and objectives needed to escape.. Its not TOO simple, and it is not TOO complex. You can use teamwork... or play lone wolf. CH CH CH AH AH AH. And down the road we get single player with bots. Hopefully AI is kinda decent. I prefer online server games with real people anyways.

The longer the match lasts, the more abilities Jason gets. As a counselor you have plenty of ways to hide and get away via items you find that can stun, distract or hinder Jason's abilities. I can see how the game can get old, fast with the the game as is, but it has the potential to be as addictive and endlessly fun as the original Left 4 Dead was. Here's hoping they add the needed additional maps, and further update the counselors appearance and abilities (some need to be curbed).… Expand

First, understand I have not experienced the database errors and connection issues I know are plaguing most of the community. I've played a few dozen matches, although have had to wait upwards of 12-15 minutes several times. I give IllFonic and Gun Media the benefit of the doubt- they're smallI'd like to give the game a 7.5, but rounded up to 8 since I've had more fun than not with it. I give IllFonic and Gun Media the benefit of the doubt- they're small studios who made a big game and I expect within the next few weeks these issues will be smoothed out.

    The gameplay itself is online-only, and as a camp horror fan since birth more accurately captures the hilarious horror tropes of the movies than perhaps any other game I've ever played. I could not put my controller down learning the ins and outs of how to escape from the fabled Jason, and taking control of the god-like serial killer is equally gleeful as I teleport across swaths of the map only to crush poor Chad's head like a grape, or snag an unsuspecting swimmer from the deep and seal their ultimate fate.

    Easter eggs abound, from the ability to don Pamela Voorhees' sweater and stun Jason as his mother's voice plays an overlay, to Tommy Jarvis' post-death introduction, and each time around feels frantic, funny, panicked and delightful.

    True 13th fans must get this game as an homage to their nostalgia, the fan-service is incredible and I can't wait to play with friends.

    However, it does hava its flaws. Unpolished is putting it lightly, as clipping, difficult controls and inconsistent hitboxes make it more difficult than it has to be playing as either "class". The concept of escape is difficult to grasp at first, and I've still never once escaped alive. I don't think I've personally ever seen a car battery in game.

    With only three maps to choose from you also feel a bit limited and the game gets mildly repetitive, but each game does have its fresh elements. I'm also not sure, given the wonderful level design, subtle graphical elements, and AMAZING score, that I'll ever be tired of Higgins Haven or Crystal Lake anyway. I've seen each movie dozens of times over, playing the game is just as fun each time.

    Additionally, yes, Jason feels a bit overpowered. However, that's kind of the point. His powers wonderfully capture the "how can he be everywhere" feel of the movies, while constraining him just enough to usually allow 1-4 counselors their escape. True fans will WANT to encounter the maniac and the frantic chases are often the highly intense moments you crave. You can also add RNGed perks to your counselor choices (there are several) and there are various versions of Jason to choose from, each with different weapons, skills, abilities, and certain drawbacks. The game feels just balanced enough to keep you coming back, determined to escape or cut the heads off the over-sexed teens of Crystal Lake.

    Server issues aside, this game is a true testament to B-Horror fans everywhere. It is an absolute must-have to me already, and I highly recommend it-eventually. I say eventually because it is true connectivity is a problem, so consider waiting a few weeks for server patches before doing yourself a favor and falling in love with this gem.    … Expand

    Friday the 13th definitely brings something to the gaming world that I have always hoped for. Their goal was to bring to life the on screen horror we watch and they did just that. You never know where Jason is going to pop up and you get the same suspense you would from watching one of the films. The game really can be very enjoyable both solo and with friends. There are a few updates that could be made, but it seems they are working very diligently to continue updating the game. I really look forward to the single player and hope it'll be a story based mode to relive even more of our classic Friday the 13th moments.… Expand

    I'm writing this review as of 6/6/2017. Friday the 13th is a good game, yeah sure it has its flaws but what game doesn't? The sever issue, glitches, etc. is something that can be fixed. Overall I am having fun with this game and I can't say that with most games these days. This game isn't going to be for everyone, I see it as you either love it or hate it and there's no in between.     Although it´s not a perfect game, visual aspect is pretty average and engine is a bit creepy, you can have good fun in this game .... The best thing is a good made atmosphere of fear when you are in really bad situations .... Playing as Jason is very overpowered and if you are not stupid, you can kill all counselors very easily ...     made by a small team of developers, the game actually surpassed my expectations. ill be honest, i did not have faith in this kickstart project and thought it was nothing more than a cash grab due to selling a disk and steel case for $120, due to this i did not back this project.

    ive been playing since release day and have experienced very few of the problems users complain about because i started this game by hosting private matches. most people had problems getting quick match to work, which for the majority of the time ive played i have avoided. over all alot of care and attention was put into jasons character, and it does a very good job making you feel like this is how jason would be.
    i am not going to go into detail on what the game is about, or how to play..this review is late and you can look up videos for gameplay. over all the game is awesome as long as you are playing with honest/fair people who dont use glitches, though the developer is patching issues fairly quickly. if you like friday the 13th it is worth the purchase, its fun and content will continue to be developed (more maps/single player vs bots/skins/clothes). over all i have played nothing but this since release, and it is a refreshing break from traditional games like first person shooters, and it doesnt fail where games like evolve did. awesome game, worth $40. buy it if you love the franchise (digital only right now, disk version will come out later).    … Expand

    Gran juego, recrea muy bien los escenarios de la película, te mantiene en tensión cuando huyes y disfrutas cuando eres Jason y asesinas a los monitores. Está en desarrollo y poco a poco van aumentado el juego y su catalogo de manera gratuita.

O jogo tem como por objetivos sendo um dos monitores.. conseguir fugir do mapa e para isso, você pode optar por tentar chamar a polícia para te resgatar, consertar carros ou barcos para fugir seja sozinho ou com seus parceiros. ficar escondido até o fim da partida (que dura 20 minutos) ou até mesmo tentar matar o Jason, ação que requer a ajuda e coordenação de vários jogadores além de muuuita sorte. Sendo o vilão, o objetivo é básico: matar todos os monitores antes que esses fujam ou que o tempo da partida se esgote. Se prepare para horas de nostalgia, diversão, momentos de tensão e medo. Se você conseguir jogar entre amigos a diversão aumenta muito.

If you gather your friends to play together, wait for hours of fun in a game that brings the elements of the cine-series Friday the 13th, portrayed with great fidelity to the console. The first times you play the game as one of the monitors, the feeling of fear, panic, terror are very great, much due to the excellent soundtrack of the game that makes a great immersion to the player. Knowing that you are being hunted by an almost immortal killer gives a sense of urgency that few games can. Playing like the famous Jason, you have the pleasant surprise of being able to use powers not seen in the movies but that explains for example he is always in front of his victims even walking most of the time. The game objectives: as counselours .. get away from the map and for this, you can choose to try to call the police to rescue you, repair cars or boats to escape either alone or with your partners. stay hidden until the end of the match (which lasts 20 minutes) or even try to kill Jason, action that requires the help and coordination of several players plus sooo much luck. Being Jason, the goal is basic: kill all the counselours before they run away or the time of match runs out. Get ready for hours of nostalgia, fun, moments of tension and fear.     This game is always a fun time. Sadly new content could not be made due to a lawsuit over the franchise in general, but thankfully that didn't stop the community nor the developers from totally abandoning it.

    The game is at its best when those online multiplayer matches make you feel like you are part of the movie.     The game is balanced enough. In games like these it is often the survivors that are OP and the killer is a bit weaker. This mostly avoids this trap. You could have a match with a dominant Jason or a match where the counselors are well coordinated enough to beat Jason.

    You will run into some toxic players or trolls from time to time but that is with any online game. The only major downfall is the bugs and glitches and how slow the team is to get them fixed. Thankfully as the game has been updated there hasn't been anything totally game breaking but rather an annoyance of sorts. They still have a two or three more patch updates to roll out so they will at least leave it in a playable state when they abandon the game.    … Expand

    Almeno si sono impegnati.Non sarà un capolavoro come The Last of Us o Death Stranding ma è un gioco godibile e divertente.La mancanza di Dlc diminuisce la longevità del gioco il mese scorso per fortuna hanno rilasciato il custom match.

    Had a lot of fun with this game over the 100 hours or so. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, it looks pretty bad graphics wise. That's part of the fun of this though there's some funny moments. It's the gameplay and working as a team to win that makes this fun. There's obviously points off for the time when game would end or servers disconnect but when you play a match start to finish it was prettyHad a lot of fun with this game over the 100 hours or so.     Friday the 13th: The Game is a very special game. It follows the movies very well to the point where it feels like you're playing one of the movies! The game is rough around the edges (some of the animations look very odd for example!) buuuut... it's still a good experience overall! Should you buy it? That depends.

    Only fond memories are associated with this game, it is beautiful, but because of Lawsuit The game cannot receive new content, the trial will end tomorrow, see if the content (hopefully yes) of such a game cannot be lost

    if i am going to be honest the games no scary it looks like the animations are dolls and the people are made of wood but the games great its fun to play as jason a kill the people the game is basically hide and seek if your innocent you hide if your jason you seek and kill the people.

    Friday the 13th: The Game is the closest you are ever going to get to being in a Friday The 13th movie. It's so realistic that I had goosebumps every time I saw Jason. However if you are playing alone it can get a little boring at times, and that makes me wish that there was a decent single player mode But with its authenticity this is the best Friday The 13th game that we may ever have and it will make every fan very happy.
