They deny scripting even though it is clearly present in the game, treating the players like fools. The career mode revamp is a joke, I hate it more than the old career mode.     Sometimes I just want to have fun playing career mode.
    But they simply abandoned the career mode.
    This is easily the worst Fifa ever made.

    DDA is sucks!
    You make 10 shots on goal= no goal
    CPU makes 2 shots on goal= 2 goals
    You find that you suddenly can't pass or rescue when the opponents in front of you!

    best FIFA so far. it could be better if they provide more options in offline modes (champions league etc.) rather then improving money trap FUT modes.. Apart from that everything is good: online mode is great comparing to PES and graphs are amazing.

    I've only played Fifa for a few weeks now and it definitely has degraded in a few areas, where 17 was better at. Mainly your AI team mates make ridiculously stupid runs and mistakes on defense. I've been playing it on legendary, I already adjusted all the sliders and am using a set up someone recommended. But I still find it ridiculously hard to score sometimes and it seems like theI've only played Fifa for a few weeks now and it definitely has degraded in a few areas, where 17 was better at.     First time I've played a fifa game since 14 and there seems to be barely any improvements to the game and a whole lot of emphasis on fut which is just another exploitative pay to win mode.

    THE WORST! they only make efforts to please those that play FUT cause there's so many suckers spending money to buy packs. The gameplay is so scripted and annoying. They do it every year give us a good demo and a completely differnt game when its released EA is the worst just go PES guys at least the gameplay makes sense

    The story is good and immersing. Graphics are awesome. I am pretty much hooked to the Ultimate team. And playing one on one with friends is always great.

    There are a lot of bad reviews about this game but most of them are pissed that there are hardly any changes from the last FIFA edition. But if you look at the game from a holistic point of view, FIFA gameplay has come a long way. I    The story is good and immersing. Graphics are awesome. I am pretty much hooked to the Ultimate team. And playing one on one with friends is always great.

I've played different versions of PES and FIFA over the years and not many have hit the sweet spot like this one. I dont have the problem that my players cant connect with a pass, i dont have a problem with stealing a ball from a superstar player. I hope some other gaming company creates a better football game. These critic reviews are 100 percent paid for. Because in reality, the USER SCORE is a true review of this terrible game.

    I know that this review is coming a bit late, but I just want to point out how every fifa game is pretty much the same now.
    Graphics of the game look like they come from fifa 14. The game play feels the same like all other fifa games. It's competitor Pes 2018, has much better graphics and game play (not to mention that it has lower budget than fifa 18). This just proves how greedy EA has become.

    While playing moves are more realistic, and 4k graphics are enjoyable, EA servers are often down, forcing you to re-login with lots of latency.

    Sadly, the game is also geared around in-game purchases to advance more quickly, and as a casual gamer, you won't be able to buy any high key players without either making huge in game purchases, or playing for literally years.

I loved the career mode, it is my favorite in the game now! I enjoyed creating my own character and playing him in a team of my choice.     I rated last year's game an 8 & this one is almost the same game, just more biased towards the attacking team. If you're gonna ask for my money again you've got to make it more worthwhile than this (only upgraded so I can keep playing against my bro/mates)

As a FIFA veteran I really loved to play the game around christmas every year, but this year I completely stopped playing the game because of how boring and unrewarding it is to play. I'll try to cover as much as I possibly can to give you a detailed review of this game.
    Career Mode:
    Yet another year    If you are considering buying this game, don't , it's more trouble than it's worth. As a FIFA veteran I really loved to play the game around christmas every year, but this year I completely stopped playing the game because of how boring and unrewarding it is to play. I'll try to cover as much as I possibly can to give you a detailed review of this game.
    Career Mode:
    Yet another year where EA failes to freshen up career mode, both manager and player career. Almost no gameplay changes compared to last year. It has some new cut scenes added, however, they soon get repetitive and boring and annoy you most of the time. AI is atrocious like every year. To give an example: Top teams would sign 3-4 world class players for the same position( Bayern signs Dybala, Lukkaku and Cavani, while also having Lewandowski at ST position). After a couple of different career play thorughs you'll notice the patterns behind top teams' signings even to an extent that some players wind up in one team 99% of the time( Dybala at Bayern).
    Ultimate Team:
    Although they added a lot of gameplay features this year, one being Squad Battles, one can't help but wonder what could've been if they actually polished the mode properly. Ever since FIFA 17, Ultimate Team is completely differen to other modes, gameplay wise. Players feel sluggish, like I'm controlling 300 pound sumo wrestlers, not professional and agile athletes( no offense to sumo guys). Also, there are way too many instances when the game adjusts the gameplay in order to favor one player. Sometimes I can see that my opponent is a lot better than me and he should win, but, with FIFA's help, I manage to scrape a win or a draw, the opposite scenario is also true.
    Ranked matchmaking( Weekend League) requires you to play 40 games on weekends against totally random opponents and your finish is determined by the amount of wins you got. Sometimes you would get e-sport professionals, and sometimes you would get 3 year olds who got into a match by mashing buttons and chewing their controller. You can actually search for examples where e-sport professionals would exploit the system to get easier opponents and finish higher.
    Gameplay:
    The game is automated way too much. Trying to manually defend with your defenders actually punishes you, so everyone is using high stamina midfielders and chasing your players with them, instead of trying to use their centerbacks.
    There's also a lot of input lag, even in offline modes, making the game very unresponsive and it's one of the reasons why the player feel like tanks.
    I really hope I have helped you make up your mind about this game. In my opinion is it not worth a penny, I would match rather buy PES 2018( you can always import real teams, kits and badges, it's very easy, google search it) as the gameplay is just that much better.    … Expand

In EAs case, it is clearly obvious, that FIFA 18 is flawed on many levels - They have made little or no effort whatsoever to improve a cult game despite the resources that they will have at their disposal. In fact I believe the game to be a major step backward from fifa 17. The reality of the user reviews compared to critics reviews, rubber stamps the obvious fact that you guys merely re-word the same old reviews without actually exploring the game yourselves and you are obviously too worried about ramifications of negative reviews from EA & Sony. There is little point in detailing the obvious flaws of the game; there are too many to list and we all know what they are. I have enjoyed FIFA for years , some versions more than others but I am shocked at the blatant laziness by EA to re-deploy the same themes & templates in different guises. Its almost as though they have dared to see how little effort they could put in whilst taking their loyal followers money. But the real culprits here are the critics - EA have just mugged us all off but the critics should have done the right thing and appraised the game for what it really is. EA will no doubt e laughing - they can clearly put out any old sh*t and they will still be lauded by the very publications that owes their articles to they readers andante their sponsors. Goes without saying that after literally decades, I will never buy fifa again ( and I do mean that!!) . I hope other follow suit. I have given 1 as the music is quite good..

    So in summary - awful game , def the worst ever. Let down by FIFA but more so by the publications that we rely on to advise us.

    On the plus side, if ever I really make it in the corporate world , its reassuring to know that collusion is still alive & well!!    … Expand

    Unbelievable how Online Seasons work. It's ridiculous how much the game will alter your players when you take the lead just to let the other player live. That's very unfair. Also, unbelievable that you can't mute the opponents online. This game is trash and I will play it no longer

    Not to even mention the gambling side of the Ultimate team, this game is pure rip off.

Everything could have and should have been brought in an update but instead was added to a whole new game which will run you another 60 dollars.

    FIFA 18 has brought a couple new things to the table such as Alex Hunters return in the journey. While i loved the opening hours of it, it slowly downgraded and fell victim to last years problem where you'd practice, then play a game. Rinse and repeat. Going a long time without having anything interesting happen in a story mode can really test the players patience. Especially if your like me and dont really find Alex that interesting to begin with.

    Ultimate team also got an upgrade with the introduction of squad battles. I actually really enjoyed this as it kept me playing and was a good way to earn coins. It does feel unbalanced however as there are times i'll smash a team that is way better than mine then get smashed by a team that is way worse.

    Those are what i'd say are the 2 big additions from last years FIFA. There are some things here that actually feel worse than last years game though. Defending being the big one that comes to mind. For the life of me i can't seem to defend good in this game and neither can the AI as they stare and watch the ball roll right past them.

    Overall its just another FIFA game, if you liked it last year you'll most likely like it this year and the same is true if you hated it last year, you'll still hate it this year.

    The game is very good. The vr, the graphics and all the games mods are excellent. But in FUT the squad battles and the online are strange, because even if the other has all teh players in wrong positions and with no chemistry, the play very well.

The only viable method of play is to collect fast, small, skill move players. The Kane, Ibra and Costa style players are made to feel like Sunday League players. A game that is supposed to be tactical is pointless when there is only one way to play.

    These balance issues are compounded by incredibly aggressive player fatigue, poor AI positioning for defenders, goalkeepers who fumble way too often, overpowered finesse shots and a player selection system that picks the wrong player when defending about 25% of the time. Selection is made even worse through a series of scenarios where swapping player is literally locked out to you to ensure the opponent will not be punished, such as high headed clearances.

    Overall it’s a big enough drop in quality to not recommend the game.    … Expand

And handicap is existing, no matter how good you are you can loose because of engine. Every pass is going to your opponent, player with 81 pace is taking your player with 94 pace in 1s.     Good game, enjoying it much more than I did FIFA 17. Always loved football games but I would love to see some more improvements to career mode. Maybe a bit more efforts to make you hyped to be a footballer again instead of the same slightly improved game every year.

    The pacing is stodgy, the story is frustratingly slow, the defending is near-impossible, and the game feels incredibly scripted, especially offline. Licenses, music, graphics, and other less important features have been improved, but the gameplay left this user incredibly frustrated the entire time.

The two main criticisms of the ones I named above are AI and shooting. Regarding AI, I understand that most of the game play should be controlled by the user, but in some situations the AI should compensate for minimal errors carried out in the flow of game play. Some of the situations I have noticed are such that a pass that is maybe half a foot off target may often make it is as if the player completely ignores the pass altogether as if he isn't apart of the play or another situation such as an attacking player has beaten a user controlled defender but runs directly into the path of an AI controlled defender and this defender does nothing to stop the attacker. Shooting is the other criticism that is unrealistic at times. Players should not be able to do a complete 180 and be able to get perfect contact every time or be able to pull off unrealistic wonder shots from ridiculous angles with pressure on them. The only reason I am giving this game a 3 instead of a 0 is because all of the available game modes, graphics, and overall presentation of the game are just as great if not better than any other FIFA in the past. If it says anything, I have played FIFA for about 10 years and this is the first time I have wanted to stop playing or looked into playing PES as an alternate to FIFA.… Expand

    This year a new version of the game has surpassed all it's predesestors. And a huge part of the community received a completely broken mode Pro Clubs. Critical bugs that not allow to play friendly games between teams and stopped all the international tournaments held in every country of the world. Hundreds of thousands of players spend 2-3 hours of their time to play only one game each evening struggling with the broken mechanics.And these efforts do not always guarantee success. Almost 2 months as EA sports knows about this issue. It released 4 patches to the game, and not one of them did solve this problem. Players tested all possible reason and the occurrence of this error, reported all this information to support, but they do nothing.

    They spend their resources to repair the small problems of the game modes which bring them money for the donation. But it seems they forget that we already paid for the game, and had to get a quality product. We will do our best to make our voice heard and make executives who are responsible for what is happening respect their customers and players.     "FIFA 18" was a horrible game, really worsened a lot, and I did not like this game made me horrible goals, and THAT WITH ALL RESPECT I DO NOT FORGIVE THE F*****G CREATORS OF FIFA, I DO NOT LIKE IT!!! IT IS A CRAP!!!

    By rebuilding the animation system the developers managed to significantly improve footballers’ responsiveness, which results in more fluent gameplay and lets you perform tighter maneuvers. That makes attacking a real joy, but in my opinion turned defense into frustrating chore that requires too much precision. [12/2017, p.42]
