Wow... This game was a perfect 10/10 for me. Great story, great gunplay, great replay-ability, great graphics, etc. The story missions were not too repetitive and the side missions were great as well. Must buy for fans of this series or those looking for a good game to pickup.

After 50 hours of pure, unbridled fun I am still only 40% complete and have many more places to explore and people to kill with a golden AK-47, pink handgun and tiger-striped sniper. On top of that, there is an entertaining and brilliant map-editor and browser, where you can make preposterous battles and play them as many times as you want, alone or in co-op. there's even an incredible multiplayer that I got hours of fun out of, with perks, customizable guns and even the opportunity to be brazen bow-and-arrow killing machines. What's not to love? My only complaint is a very slight graphical issue with pop-in, but that is to be expected in a gigantic open-world game like this, and does not hinder the game in any way. A must-have, and a masterpiece of the gaming world. Expand

I really don't see how a professional reviewer can honestly score this a 50/100, it comes off as petty as there is no major issues in gameplay or controls.

Let me start off by saying that I was a big fan of the first Far Cry game. Far Cry 2 was fun amidst it's pacing problems. Far Cry 3's setting and gameplay didn't entertain me, so I never continued playing that game. As for Far Cry 4 (the little footage online I had seen), I never wanted to buy it until the Yeti's DLC intrigued me. You jump right into the action in this game.

Far Cry 4's gameplay is fun and even though you do some of the same things again, it never feels repetitive and boring. I love the fictional land with breathtaking views. The quests are diverse, but the real fun begins when you start doing the main missions associated with the story. The characters are great and memorable throughout. I love the villain in this game. The opening of the game made me laugh and pumped me up for what was to come. There's not very many games that do that right. I was ready to learn more of what the land of Kyrat had to offer.

Explosions are exhilarating and there are a plethora of weapons to choose from and unlock. The hunting is great as well. I've never been a big fan of stealth, but in this game it does require you to be stealthy at some points in the game. It doesn't take away from the overall experience and I'll condone it for now. I have never gotten a 100 percent in a game before, but this game makes me want to continue playing.

    PROS:

    - Huge and beautiful vast world to explore (The first use of my PS4's snap a pic feature) So pretty.
    - Gyrocopters and many other exciting ways to traverse the landscape.
    - The Villain is fascinating. Memorable characters
    - Fun weapons and gameplay
    - Story is intriguing
    - The Shangri-La and the Yogi and Reggie missions are great additions. They provide a change of pace and scenery.

    CONS:

    - Needs more variety in quests.
    - There's no use for the sleep feature. I haven't used it once.
    - Audio logs would have been a better and memorable use for the countless notes you come across.
    - Driving is awkward since you use the same stick for forward and reverse.
    - Would love to have different structuring in the radio towers. They all look and feel the same.

I judge a game by how entertained I am and what I like to call the Mistress Factor. Mistress because I find myself torn between my fiancee and putting time in on this game. Mistress Factor is at a 10 right now. I'm only about 3 hours in and this game is going to have me wrapped up for a while.

It's a beautiful game graphically first and foremost. The landscape they used is breathtaking. I'm a big FPS guy so the game play is right up my alley. Exploration in the game is amazing. You can just doing whatever quests you want and you get drawn in no matter how small it may seem. The crafting, the progression, the skill tree. It is all amazing.

I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to jump on the Far Cry bandwagon but now I'm here and I plan on staying. I was so disappointed with the new games that just dropped and all the hype. COD and Battlefront are just so freaking disappointed but Far Cry 4 gives gamers hope.

I actually loved the large open world of far cry 4 there was so much to do and and you could do it in different ways. There were a few brilliant characters e.g. pagan Min, Amita, Sabal and Longinus other not so much. The story is similar to far cry 3 but more weaker with a weak protanganist(The story is still quite good though). But still it doesn't mean you should't buy the game. If you played far cry 3 (which I haven't) won't enjoy the game in a fantastic way. However for newcomers it will be a complete joy.
The AI is fantastic and more realistic. As random animals will chase each other or opposing sides will actually fight each other, this is even in outside the campaign. Even when you throw a rock multiple times to lure your enemy it won't go to that particular place but search the area. There is a range of dialogue of the enemies.

Final verdict: An outstanding interactive open world game with a decent storyline but with a few great character(but none are better than Vaas and Buck.)

I don't usually play first person shooters, let alone finish them. Far Cry 4 holds the title of one of the only ones that i can say i played all the way through and enjoyed. While it does not hold up to Far Cry 3 (another FPS that i finished.)

The game starts off with the same cutscene that we saw in the reveal trailer. Here, i could tell that the graphics weren't exactly going to be this game's strong point. You could easily tell this was cross-gen. So the actual game starts, and it feels just like a far cry game. The way you can see the character's feet on the pedals as they drive, the way you can turn your head around to look behind you while driving. It just feels so immersive.

The story is not too complicated. Something about a civil war between the dictator Pagan Min (voiced by troy Baker!) and the people of Kyrat. You play as Ajay Ghale who is the new martyr for the people, or something like that. The missions offer a nice variety, and are enough to keep you sticking around if you don't care for the story. My favorites include the arena mission, and some of the missions up in the Himalayas. There is a huge variety of guns to choose from, in which i enjoy a good, silenced, long range sniper rifle.

Outside the story is is a whole lot to do. Maybe a little too much. I enjoy taking out the enemy outposts. (Once again, long range, silenced sniper rifle.) There are also hunting challenges, crafting challenges, convoys, drug trips, arena survival games, and a whole lot more. After he story i only had about 19 percent of the game done, including a few side things.

A gripe of mine with the game is the characters. None of them are really interesting, including Ajay. Also, a good majority are really badly acted. Troy Baker is excellent as Min though. Oh, and concerning Pagan Min, he's not Vaas. I could really tell that they were trying to make a villain better and scarier, but in the end turned out like a copy. He was still entertaining though, although has a thin presence throughout the story.

Far Cry 4 is most likely the best First Person shooter on the next gen systems. I would highly recommend it, granted it's flaws. 7/10

The graphics are excellent and the gunplay is fun and firm. Kyrat is absolutely a beautiful Himalayan country but lacks geographical diversity. Most of the places are simply forests or grasslands. I understand the dangerous wildlife is one of the main focus in the series, but adding some sorts of settlements like those in Just Cause would definitely make the game even more fabulous.

Far Cry 4 is a game that takes many of the good things from Far Cry 3 - the gun play, the large and beautiful open world, and the satisfying feeling to sabotage an outpost of murderous radicals by releasing savage beasts from their cages, among multiple other good factors - and tries to refine them. You'll have funFar Cry 4 is a game that takes many of the good things from Far Cry 3 - the gun play, the large and beautiful open world, and the satisfying feeling to sabotage an outpost of murderous radicals by releasing savage beasts from their cages, among multiple other good factors - and tries to refine them. A lot of the time, this makes playing Far Cry 4 a grand experience! You'll have fun traipsing around the Himalayan scene, climbing the bell towers to scan over beautiful vistas (which you'll see at least ONCE from the back of an elephant, with a platoon of angry soldiers on your tail) and raining death upon outposts in a miniature chopper, or soaring over a mass of trees in your wing suit. You'll spend many an hour running supplies for the Golden Path, freeing hostages, killing high officials of the Kyrati Army, racing across the countryside (with incredibly floaty driving controls, sadly), and participating in more than a few hunting challenges to better improve yourself.

    HOWEVER.

At a certain point, you may find the content of Far Cry 4 to be lacking in substance. Yes, liberating outposts and killing rhinoceroses with explosive arrows is fun! As is sneaking around multiple troops, right before you stab each of them in the stomach, taking all of their Maxi-Pads and old Cell Phones to sell on the black market. But... well, the motivation behind it all feels very lax.

Far Cry 3's story was nothing brilliant - poor character development/utilization, poor plot, and lackluster reasoning for massive explosions (which we often did not need) - and all of those traits have found their way into Far Cry 4. You WILL find some characters and plot points that are very intriguing, many in fact! But if you ever expect those characters to be given meaningful depth, or have their storylines expanded upon, you will more than likely be disappointed.

Also, as this is an open world game, you'll find multiple bugs and glitches that will inhibit your time in Kyrat. You may be climbing up a sheer cliff face, only to be dropped by some invisible force into a maw of rocky rapids below, or you'll try to jump over a gap, caught by geometry, plummeting to your death. Thankfully, because Far Cry saves rather often, your progress will not be inhibited TOO terribly, but ten to fifteen minutes lost to a glitch will be a rotten experience.

Honestly? As long as you don't expect to find a story like Bioshock: Infinite or The Last of Us, and you can ignore its many comparisons to Far Cry THREE, you should have a very fun time with this game. Just... don't overload yourself on it. It's a fun game, yes, but it's very simple to have so much Far Cry at once that it becomes mundane. Y'know what I mean?

A word of warning, however: for some reason, by default, the Playstation 4 controller has a touch pad functionality that brings up the weapon selection wheel with a swipe. This will be a problem if you have as big of thumbs as I do, because it's a very sensitive function. SO! Turn off that functionality in the options menu before you get too far into your playthrough. Otherwise, have fun in Kyrat! Say 'hi' to a Yeti for me.

The story missions are well paced and different, sometimes you have to push all in with a pumpgun and right next you have to sneak around, this makes the game enjoyable. The weapon/animal arsenal is huge, well ballanced and works well, ther´s a ton to discover and unlock. After 20+ hours of the main game, you can easy play the double of the time to discover caves, new spots and unlock to 100%. A very good game and one of the big franchises that Ubisoft not crashed.

This game was seriously disappointing. After Far Cry 3, I expected this to be even better, but it wasn't. The story didn't move me like Far Cry 3, and while the graphics and gameplay are definitely improved, it was just so boring (Probably because it's completely recycled from Far Cry 3). Pagan Min is a terrible villain compared to Vaas, by the way.

This is a great game! Far Cry 4 was my first installment to play in the series; and what a time to jump on board! The story is engaging and characters are very interesting. My only complaint would be the repetitiveness of the random side missions set throughout the world. One of the most massive and gorgeous game worlds I've ever experienced....this is a game that cant be missed.

If I decide to just walk around the vast landscape of this open world, I never get tired of the beautiful scenery. Kyrat is well realized, so many things to do and discovering undiscovered locations of the countrys is kinda bit dissappointing, you only discover caves and houses, which is really a disappointment with all the beautiful landscape the game has.Animals are fun to hunt and very frustrating at the same time. The game has fun vehicles to ride and it has an autodrive.Outpost is a bit more polished here than in Far Cyr 3 but clearing the outpost is easier than the previous game. The interface of the game is much better and easier to navigate. Gameplay is good too.

The story is kind a interesting but not well realised. The conflict between the two is interesting but it felt short, the characters are again interesting but we have limited time to focus on them especially the villain, what a great villain too bad his screentime is very short. The main character isn't as good as Jason, Jason is such a dork,I love him, Here Ajay is more a man and not a whiny son of a **** Jason but the Jason, I can feel his improvement or he grows throughout the game, he become more of a warrior, Ajay just starts off and kills bunch of guys and I don't feel any connection on him but hey atleast his voice isn't as irritating as Jasons.

Far Cry 4 is a fun game with a lot of borrowed elements of its predecessor but here some of it are improved and much better. It's addicting even if gets boring.

After Far Cry 3, I was really excited for this game. But unfortunately Far Cry 4 is a minor step backwards and never quite matches it's predecessor in terms of story telling and it's environment. Even so, it's still an above average game that you will get some enjoyment from. Just don't pay full price for it and pick it up second hand.

I can't think of anything prettier. It really is a work of art. So much so it actually surprises me sometimes when I remember it's a Ubisoft game. Gameplay

Gameplay is excellent and really smooth. It's just downright fun. That's surely an essential element of any game.
I'm generally more of a fan of 3rd person games, but this has made me rethink that.

Massive open world, a really solid campaign. Loads of side quests, which can be ignored, if you like, and I ignored plenty. Personally I enjoyed the story. Good characters with some good twists. I like buddhism, in general, and I loved the contrast between the peaceful environment and ideology and some good old ultra violence! Not sure if it was intentional or not but it provoked thought in me.

First Far Cry game I've ever played, so can't comment on the progression from Far Cry 3. Ignoring that it's a solid game in its own right. I will give Far Cry Primal a go when it comes down in price.

Played a little multiplayer lately. It was ok. I'm more of single player, particularly with a game like this.

It's not cool or the critically acclaimed thing to say, but for me, it's easily on a par with GTA5 and The Last of Us.

    First-Person Shooter

    Was it fun?

Yes, I did enjoy this game.

    Are there any similar games?

Its hard to talk about this game and not bring up Far Cry Primal. The map itself is identical and a lot of the side quests are similar.

What did you think of the story?

I actually think the story itself was really well done and very enjoyable. Essentially the goal is to join the Golden Path so you can bring down Pagan Min who is the games villain. Pagan Min is the country’s king and you want to bring him down so you can spread your mothers ashes in a specific place on the map that is locked.

    Favorite Character?

My favorite character in the game was actually the villain-Pagan Min. He had this charisma about him, it just made him an funny and enjoyable character. In the end you do have the choice whether to kill him or let him live. I let him live because I just liked him too much.

    Favorite Mission?

The Campaign Mission is called “The Mouth of Madness.” Basically you’re thrown into this battle arena and you have to kill these waves of enemies. Its just a fun thing to do and the end of it, you end up meeting the Noore.

    Would you play it again?

    Probably not, no.

    Any Complaints?

Initially I hated the driving, the controls were wonky and hard to use. As I played the game, I got use to the driving mechanic and I was zipping around the map just fine. So if you’re struggling with the driving, keep playing and it’ll get easier.

The way I play games like this is, I run around and I unlock all of the camps and bell towers. So I run around and do all of that and then I focus on the story missions and crank them out, one after another. What sucked about doing this is, there were like 4 or 5 stealth missions in a row. I don’t mind stealth missions every once in awhile but that was too many in a row.

How many hours did you play it?

Probably around 25 hours. I know the game tells you but I didn’t look.

The low point for the series, while combat is as solid as ever and the new villain Pagen Min is great if you have played far cry 3 there isn't much new here apart from the story which at best is above average.

Far Cry 4 is the series high point as far as exploration goes, giving us a world that is nearly infinitely expansive not because it’s wide, but because it’s deep. Doing these things just got me to venture out into the gorgeous worldFar Cry 4 is the series high point as far as exploration goes, giving us a world that is nearly infinitely expansive not because it’s wide, but because it’s deep. Collecting Lost Letters, spinning Mani Wheels, destroying Yalung Masks, reading Ghale Journals, and burning Propaganda Posters offered a dozen hours of fun. Doing these things just got me to venture out into the gorgeous world and see it my own way, a task that was not only endlessly rewarding but also just a damn fun time. Unfortunately, the story is not as deep as the world it takes place in and ultimately falls short of the quality of even some of the side missions that turn out to be entirely optional.

Protagonist Ajay Ghale is perhaps the weakest character of the bunch as his background is unknown, personality is dry, and purpose in the game is simply to support the story of Kyrat. Ghale is simply a thin puppet controlled by the supporting cast, to do the will of the Golden Path. While Amita and Sabal are decent characters, they have no growth and only offer the same things throughout the entirety of the campaign. Side missions such as Yogi & Reggie offer, or the Thangka quests, and even a few of the campaign missions grow old as they send you into psychedelic trips which all end up blurring together and rewarding very little. Now, Far Cry 3 had missions which sort of did the same but they were not only unique but inventive each time, and they served a purpose. Here, they just seemed to lengthen some of the missions and provide some sense of progress, a facade that ran thin. Also, Far Cry 3 got away with it because it provided us with a protagonist that worked. A protagonist that, mind you, grew throughout the story as he became a warrior to save the island from pirates and mercenaries. That sounds similar to what the story in this game ended up being but the difference between Ajay and Jason is that Jason had a distinct arc from So-Cal rich boy to selfless leader, acquiring skills along the way that helped him save people. Before Kyrat, Ajay was…somebody and after Kyrat he became…somebody else. He not only didn’t grow as a character but he shrunk, abandoning the one quest he came to Kyrat for.

Safe to say, the story was not what I hoped it would be. However, the world of Kyrat offered me nearly 22 hours of wonderful gameplay, much more than I could have expected. The side quests absolutely stood out as a high point, asking me to rescue hostages, assassinate mercenaries, hunt animals, defuse bombs, race cars, save citizens, and so much else. Really, the heart and soul of this game is the world, and the smaller characters inside of it. Playing Far Cry 4 was a great experience up until the final mission and it’s something that I will remember fondly. It is far from being the incredible video-game experience that 3 offered but it was a great time all the same.

The problem is that Far Cry 1-5 games are contemporary setting and contemporary weapons. Far Cry Primal mixed up the setting with ancient local and ancient weapons. Blood Dragon had a sci-fi comedy theme and was the most hilarious game I have ever played. Which lead to both games being a breath of fresh air outside of the usual Far Cry contemporary format.

Don't get me wrong I am enjoying FC4 for it is a casual open world shooter. It just doesn't wow me like the spin off’s like Primal and Blood Dragon.

The developers trust that the open world will be engaging enough to keep players playing but frankly its mostly just getting from A to B. I would call this a travel simulator with some shooting and stealth in between. The characters are weak and you feel no connection with them and the story feels plaster on like a band aid.

Far Cry 4 was my first ever Far Cry and is now one of my favorite games of all times. This Far Cry game is such a good experience. The story isnt that good, i mean its okay, but the your gonna spent most of your time, running around killing bad guys and riding elephants. I loved the game when it came out and i still love it today. I really recommend this game

Meu favorito da franquia, porém há diversos furos no roteiro e tem personagens mal aproveitados.

This game really had potential. It is not bad but it could have been way better. After the completion of the story I had no more motivation to do all the other stuff. Coop and Online need also a bit of an improvement.

Es un buen videojuego, aunque la historia es demasiado sosa y muy repetitivo al far cry 3. De todas formas el mundo de far cry 4 es interesante.

It is a good video game, although the story is too bland and very repetitive to the far Cry 3. Anyway the world of Far Cry 4 is interesting.

Because of the soundtrack alone, I think this game is beautiful. I keep silent about the atmosphere, Kirat is filled with harmony, nature is magnificent. I passed this game 4 times, and I'll go through another, the plot is interesting. Score 9 out of 10 just because of some bugs, for example the remainder of the showing arrows on the target after completing the tasks.

it is the same that the rest of Far Cry, I have enjoyed. If you have played Far Cry 3, it't the same but in the mountains.

30 fps on a fps is very bad. Boring and easy game even on hard difficulty, the story is not even that great.. The artist develop is very good but it's not challenging, and so it's more of the same.

After playing FC3 and Primal, this is a great game!
Yes, the story was not as compelling as FC3 but the playability, side missions, all the things they added were really welcome and entertaining additions.
Best weapon for me: The Bow and arrows. So many possibilities with the additions of Fire arrows and Explosive arrows (who needs a rocket launcher?)
Just bought FC5 and can't wait to try it

Game is almost the same as Far Cry 3 with very small additions. Main antagonist is sort of boring the same as the whole game. For 15 hours I played it game generated two or three interesting moments. It's not a lot for an AAA-game.

It's like far cry 3 1.5 version. However I am perfectly fine with this. The gameplay is far cry 3 but improved. The world IS MUCH BETTER but sadly the story is a little worse. The bad guy is not as good as Vaas. Anyway it is an improved far cry 3

I bought this game for like 10 dollars, didnt even thinking about playing it,but one day i was like lets give it a try. After just few hours i was hooked. Story is fine, graphics are good, but gameplay is where this game shines. Taking camps and killing guards on many different ways is so fun. One of most fun games i have ever played,it just dont get boring.

Few things improved from far cry 3 but also some annoying things like eagles always attacking, and all the characters are unlikable, meaning i ran through the game not caring about my decisions.

Far Cry 4 for me is a sequel that manages to top its predecessor in most ways but also suffers from feeling a bit too familiar. All the bugs and problems I had with Far Cry 3 are still here - graphical mishaps, inconsistent fall damage, a story that easily falls into the background. We get a better main villain in Pagan Min but he also ends up featuring far too little similarly to Vaas.Far Cry 4 for me is a sequel that manages to top its predecessor in most ways but also suffers from feeling a bit too familiar. Thankfully the negatives aren't the only thing that made the jump from 3 to 4 - everything good has not only been brought back but in most cases it's improved. Gameplay feels tighter and you have more options for combat and traversal. The location is a much more interesting and beautiful choice this time and the plot, if a bit forgettable, feels like it has bigger stakes than the one in Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 4 is a better version of Far Cry 3 but it never ends up becoming anything more than "a good yet similar sequel".
