A wonderful open world sandbow full colourful characters, vast wildlife and plenty of outposts to capture. Addictive and pure fun. The gunplay feels smooth and the guns themselves are fantastic. There was always something to do in Kyrat. Side missions and main missions could feel a little repetitive at times, nevertless this is the best entry in the far cry franchise.

I think what's particularly good about having a protagonist who's really laid back and not outspoken, is that you can put your own characterization on him, and choose whatever you want to do without contradicting the characters morals or motivations. He just wants to spread his mother's ashes. Brilliant. I think they took that concept and fully implemented it into Far Cry 5, but that's another review.

Aside from the Himalayan setting and co-op options (which are admittedly great fun) this is basically the same game as Far Cry 3. There are fewer dull missions this time around and the minor additions, such as new take-down moves, all work to improve the formula however meaning that fans of the series will undoubtedly enjoy this latest addition.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Far Cry 4 is a good game, but not really any different to FC3. As has been said before it's more like FC3.5. The graphics are the same, gameplay the same, which is not a bad thing, but there is nothing really new in this to report. They have tweaked a few things like the watch towers so they are not a pain the butt, but apart from that, it's nothing exciting.
But TBH, the worst thing I found out about this game is the story. They have obviously put a lot of effort into the story, but no matter what paths you choose to follow, you feel like a jerk. Whether it be follow the religious nutter or the drug dealer, when you choose which mission to do, both make you feel like, Actually no, I don't want any. Small hint, look for the third alternative ending, as the main 2 suck.
The multiplayer suffers from the same problems as a lot of games that have fan built maps. It's inundated with children building stupid maps where you get infinite ammo, invulnerability and then have a mission to kill 50 blokes who are stuck in a room. 1 rocket launcher and it's done. why?? It's not fun or challenging. and this was one of the highest rated user maps!! Needs some kind of quality control. Even the official Multiplayer maps have serious problems like huge maps but only 10 players, one side who are invisible with explosive arrows. Just sit and wait for someone to turn up, pop up, shoot, dead...que a half mile run back into the action as they spawn you so far away from the main areas you spend most of the time just running. Not exactly exciting play.
Overall a good core game from a playability POV which is the most important part, but a few things you look at and go..."why did you do this??"

The cutscenes are decent, nothing too flashy but at least the people in the cutscenes look real. The protagonist is annoying enough to make you want to kill him. A lot of the story felt like fillers but there were great moments and twists, which surprised me well. The side quests however, started feeling like a chore very quickly.

I got this game at a killer price and ultimately thought that it was worth the price given the large swath of content in it. Unfortunately, the lack of an endgame makes a lot of the content feel irrelevant after a certain point, which killed this games momentum. That being said, I enjoyed the gameplay and wingsuit gliding all the way through. 7/10. Definitely worth a try.

Surprisingly I found the story of Far Cry 4 even more shallow than Far Cry 3. The choice feels extremely unsatisfying Just to hear both sides of an argument and to actually get an idea of what the hell you're meant to be choosing between you have to accept one character's just to hear the plan so to then cancel out and then accept another characters idea jsut to hear their pan only to cancel out and go back to the first plan is really poorly done, and the fact you have to accept a plan before hearing it even thought you can back out is pretty bad design..

The characters are very two-dimentional especially the main character you play, which massively goes against the character you played in Far Cry 3. The boss f the game feels far less fleshed out and less intimidating that the one in far cry 3. In fact you barely see or interact with him at all. Sometimes he'll just call you for a chat, but it's always randomly when you're in the middle of a side quest or distracted by doing something unrelated so I could barely pay attention to it.

Some of the side quests are pathetic, such as 'fashion week' that almost seems self aware at how stupid it is. I found the shangri-la side quests far more original and beautiful than the main story and just kinda of wish it was made into a more fleshed out DLC like Blood Dragon was.

The environment is beautiful and there's lots of items to collect, and lots of quests, though they are repetitious, and honestly I didn't enjoy doing a single quest, or mission in this game. But did have a lot of fun just roaming around and hunting.

The xp and 'karma' systems adds very little to game. It really doesn't seem to matter what you do in the game as long as you progress through the story and loot a lot for money.

Far Cry 4 continues to feel like a sandbox game with a story tacked-on for the sake of having one. Which is a shame, as it really isn't that hard to have characters you are actually interested in, or a story you actually can get involved in, it's just like they decided not to pay much for the mocap or voice acting so each character has such a limited screen time, and the story never seemed to be developed more than a few initial ideas scribbled on a cocktail napkin.

Fun game, poor story. Far Cry in a nutshell.

What is this game?!: FAR CRY 3 set in a fictional India/Myanmar esque country torn apart by civil war. What that means is that is a first person shooter with loads of sidequests, big open world, stealth, random events, hunting, crafting, outpost capturing, and the all pervasive tower climbs to unlock the map.

    Pros:
-Combination of stealth and action is well done and largely up to the player.
-Capturing outposts, though repetitive, remains fun. Scouting the enemy, planning your attack, disabling their phones so they can't call for reinforcements, and then deciding to silently kill everybody or just go ham is still as fun as it ever was.
-The overarching story is decent and Pagan Min, the main villain, is likable. He and the radio dj are responsible for the only good dialogue in the game.

    Cons:
-Friggin wild dogs and wolves. I can't tell you how many times I've been scouting a group of enemies only for some wild dogs to start attacking me leaving me little choice but to shoot them thereby alerting the enemy of my position and ruining all my work. ALSO EAGLES! The amount of times you are attacked by wild animals in this game is the most annoying part of the game. You can throw bait at them but this doesn't work as well as you want to especially if you are scouting an enemy and have to remain in the area.
-Random events are so numerous that they cease to add that spark of life and spontaneity to the world and just become a nuisance.
-The motivations of your character and the characters around you are, at times, non existent. Why do I keep going back to people who constantly drug me and leave me in dangerous situations? Why am I fighting this civil war? Why do the main characters in this fictional indian country have no accent while everybody else does? Along with a whole bunch of other minor parts where the question why comes up again.

Conclusion: Fun game with many annoyances. None of which are game breaking but they are there. It's a great sandbox world chock-full of stuff to do but so many minor things hold it back from being on the level of red dead or a GTA game.

    Cons:
    1. Poor writing in lore, journal, collectible entries. Feels like a middle school kid wrote it.

    2. Not enough of a motivation to clear the map, do side missions, activities, etc. Wildlands had a strong plot cos I really wanted to bring down the drug cartel and the missions/activities in Wildlands felt grounded in reality. FC4 felt too artificial, with stuff like Karma Events, convoys, animal hunts, fashion hunts, that felt contrived and not a natural part of the setting. After 10hrs, I lost interest and motivation to continue. I frequently asked myself, why am I doing all these stuff again??

    3. Gunplay lacks the weight and punch that are in games like Destiny, Wolfenstein, Doom, Titanfall. It felt very COD like which if you enjoy then this will be a plus for you. Gun sounds aren't impressive, and shooting feels light with minimal recoil or impact. Aim assist is too generous so I turned it off. Enemy detection is crazy annoying. Everyone will know where u are right away, and the game isn't built for stealth unlike Wildlands where u can go prone and take cover.

    4. Too many unnecessary collectibles and activities that are uninspired. Take down 150posters, find masks, find lost letters. The number at the end of each collectible fills me with dread cos it makes the game like an unending list of chores. Discovery of the world doesn't feel fluid and natural which leads to my next point.

    5. Bell towers. This mechanic MUST be abolished. No game should ever have this evil tedious mechanic in them. You need to climb 17 towers to unfog the map, and each time u climb a tower, the game SHOWS you locations to visit which all feel and look the same after my 8th tower. No sense of exploration and discovery. Just ubisoft handholding me every step of the way. Poor game design.

    6. Treasure boxes, "loot", economy, hunting of animals to upgrade wallet/ammo/etc. Gets old fast. Annoying to have these animals attack u, and they are definitely placed at towers instead of being peocedurally generated.

TLDR: FarCry4 isba supremely annoying and frustrating game to play with minimal story motivation but maximum list of chores to do.

Fairly similar to Far Cry 3 to be honest, but with better graphics. Both great games so that's no insult.
I did find the Antagonist in this one was inferior to the one on Far Cry 3, just didn't seem to have much of a presence at all.
All in all a fun game, especially when you use the bow for most of the game.... every kill is satisfying

Another one to tick of the list for Far Cry fans while people who are sick of Far Cry should probably steer clear. Expand

Far Cry is a rich beautiful open world game with so much to do. The action is great, the graphics are great, there is heaps of content and is an all round great experience. The co-op is disappointing and should have been split screen instead of forcing you to buy 2 copies and 2 consoles just to play with a friend.

If the campaign was split screen it would have given this a 10, because

Just like its predecessor, Far cry 4 offers a stunning environment and innovative villain but does absolutely nothing with them due to a sub par story.
Far cry 4 cant seem to decide weather it was to be taken seriously, as shown in its pretty serious main quest. Or if it wants to be goofy, which is shown in its side missions having you kill endangered animals just to make a coat.

This time around they do try and give the main NPC more personality, but the actual main character is never fully fleshed out, which left me confused and I stopped caring about the overall goal pretty early on.

Far cry 4 seemed to lack a lot of Far cry 3s charm and survival aspect. Hunting animals and picking flowers for boosts seemed more of a chore and something which just got in the way.

Its not a bad game by any means, i just wish in future installments more time is spent on story telling.

AMAZING game. This is the first Far cry game I ever played and I loved it.

So much to do, so many places to explore.

The map was really easy to understand also. Some other games I've played, the map makes no sense at all.

Fairly easy to plat if you're a trophy hunter. Still LOADS more to do even after you plat.

Recommended to all if you are stuck on a game to buy!

Far Cry 4 is a typical rushed Ubisoft product that should have been better. At least this is a sandbox game that is made to be finished. The problem is the quality of the sand.

This is my second review here on Metacritic. My first gave the game a score of 6 and lamented on the limitations of the gameplay and tacked on RPG system. Playing through the game, none of these problems disappear. Not only does this game hold back some fun weapons until the final missions, it hold back the best weapons until after the final mission. However, if you do strategically play the game (using a guide) and unlock the best gear immediately, the game loses much of it's challenge. I also want to make clear that in a country full of guns, cars, and helicopters, you shouldn't have to craft your own holsters out of wolf hides.

The cut scenes are clearly the worst content in the game. I hated every one of them and wanted to punch nearly every NPC in the face. I have no complaint against the voice acting except to note that some of them were using very British accents and others were trying for an authentic Indian accent to match the fictional locale. At the end of the game someone asks the protagonist if he is going to finish the mission that brought him to war torn Kyrat. He says "it doesn't matter anymore". Indeed, hardly any of it matter.

The missions themselves are always "go to X and kill Y". There is hardly anything spectacular arising out of the sandbox. Some of the later missions are simply broken. One mission has you chasing an airplane in a wingsuit. If you touch the plane you will die, but the mission doesn't end until after a lengthy animation that shows you succeeding. Then it's back to the loading screen to try again. That mission took me 6 tries and I was ready to smash my controller. The loading screen is the most sadistic enemy in the game, especially when the enemy throws snipers, mortars, helicopter, and armored solders at you.

The combat in the game is on the cusp of being best in class AAA material. You can run and gun, perform "takedowns", and drive vehicles. Hiding and sniping also works well as enemies no longer have X-ray binocular vision. The combat fails thanks to a few design decisions. Enemies will knock you back with their weapons if you try to perform a takedown while they are looking at you. They also do this if you unlock the ability to chain takedowns. Enemies will also never fail to shoot you no matter how fast you move, dodge, and weave. This is especially annoying if you are fighting against a sniper and see the laser beam perfectly track you. This leads to fighting using the two best stategies: 1) sniping from a distance with a silenced sniper rifle and 2) firing grenades down at enemies from a helicopter. Indeed, the second option unlocks when you are given a free grenade launcher during an escort mission. Find a helicopter, fly above a location, and rain down grenades until all enemies are dead. The games tries hard to push stealth as a viable gameplay option, but stealth is hardly ever a viable option. The bow, for example, is the worst weapon in the game and I never even bothered to use fire or explosive arrows. Typical run and gun gameplay devolves into constantly using health kits and then retreating behind a rock when you have run out. In a not shell, traditional combat in the game is not fun.

The game has a 7 out of 10, so something about the game is fun. Riding elephants and stomping enemies is fun. Some of the climbing puzzles are fun. Hang gliding or wingsuit gliding is fun. Explosives are fun. Grenade launchers are fun. Luring a tiger into an enemy outpost is fun. Running at unsuspecting enemies with your knife is fun. If you like all of this, then I heartily recommend Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. That game was brilliant. Perfect game, in my opinion, and easily completed in 7-9 hours.

In summary, Far Cry 4 is a game that does not live up to its potential. The last gen look of the game doesn't do it any favors. The lackluster efforts of developers is unfortunately a growing tread especially for Ubisoft. It's as if game publishers are tired of having to make good games all the time.

This game has pro's and cons like any game i ever played. I do like this story more than FAR CRY 3's which was ruined by that whiny jason brody(I still say his brother grant should have been the main character!)
but even though it is a better story i still don't think it was all that great of a story, (we know they could do much better. get a famous hollywood movie writer to do the damn story if you have to!)
But overall FAR CRY 4 is still a great game( i have played much ,much worse!!!) has great feeling weapons, awesome graphics, excellent audio(gun sounds/feel is real good and explosions are great, etc) so i gave it a 8 and just hope that FAR CRY 5 does what it really needs to be a perfect FAR CRY game.
As for this review i will say what i always say,
My best advice is for everyone reading this to not take my word for it or anyone elses that reviews a game o but just try it yourself or do what i do and watch some high def gameplay on YT.
I have found from reading reviews it is basically a waste of time, many times i have loved a game even though the majority said it sucked and of course the opposite has happened as well, i hated the game but it was a best seller and high rated game :/
It all comes down to your own personal feelings and thoughts about any game because what i like you may not and what i hate you may love?
That's what makes up each individuals,we can't all like the same exact things thats just the way it is.
I actually prefer to watch the actual gameplay on YT to see if i would like a game or not!

Stealth is a very big part of this game and taking over outposts feels more awarding when stealth is used instead of gun blazing. There are also lots of vehicles to drive and as well as a day and night cycle. Hunting is also very useful in this game because you can skin the animals and use there skin to craft things like bigger wallets and gun holders. You can alsp harvest plants and use them to make syringes to heal you or let you see through tress and bushes to make hunting easier. When the player does not feel like doing the story missions, they can do side quests like murdring targets or hunting rare animals. If the player has to get to an objective but does not feel like going around the mountain, they can use the grappling hook to climb it.
Multiplayer is also very fun and competitive. Players will have to be smart and choose what vehicles to drive or whether or not to ride an elephant to help their team. My favorite feature is the map editor which allows the player to create their own map with their own objective and upload them so other players can try them. I love to look up the highest rated map and play them. I never get bored playing other player's map.
In conclusion , Far cry 4 is a must have for shooter fans who also like open world games but are tired of GTA V. The Map Editor and Multiplayer is like the icing on the cake for this game because the single player was more than enough for me. Buy Far Cry 4!

I think Ubisoft is going the wrong way betting in quantity of games over the quality in all franchises. With this beautiful environment the story deserved a better imagination and integration. There are excess of influences between the structure and mechanic of Assassin´s Creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry and Splinter Cell. And i´m not saying it´s a bad game because it isn´t. But it´s surely time to stop, think and start to innovate.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 2014 was an off year for gaming. Many high profile new IPs didn't live up to the hype with Watch Dogs and Titanfall disappointing with their lack of great innovation. Destiny fell short for many people as it wasn't the persistent, world building MMO imagined. Many games were dead on arrival due to their broken online components, as was the case with Driveclub and (for some people) Assassin's Creed: Unity. It's been hard to find a game of the year, with no true standout efforts like Grand Theft Auto V or The Last of Us. But Far Cry 4 is the one game of 2014 that has really stood out to me. The story is gripping, the gameplay almost perfect and the world massive and highly lifelike. It feels like a proper next gen effort and has somehow trumped the heights of the truly amazing third game.

Far Cry has recently become famous for its twisted villains. Vaas was highly memorable and while the second foe of Far Cry 3 wasn't quite as captivating, Hoyt was still a nasty bad guy. This time we get Pagan Min- an extremely charismatic and actually kind of likeable antagonist. He was more interesting than Vaas for me and when you first meet him, he takes a selfie with your character after killing one of his guards viciously with a knife. The opening section is well designed and really sets up how truly crazy this guy can be, but he isn't insane like Vaas and is a generally better character, mostly due to the performance of Troy Baker. While Min vanishes for the few starting hours after his introduction (keeping in contact through radio), when he does show up again he hasn't lost any of his entertaining persona.

The story is actually a little simple and removes the whole "White Savior" metaphor of FC3. You play as Ajay Ghale- a Kyrati man who returns to his fictional home country to spread the ashes of his recently deceased mother. He grew up in America, but he is still in touch with his religion and his interactions with the inhabitants of Kyrat feel realistic. After escaping Min, he meets two rebel leaders- Sabal and Amita. They have warring ideals and your path through the narrative depends on who you side with during various missions. They are always bickering and I almost wanted to jump ship and side with Pagan, but I understand that this is supposed to happen and the varying missions and different endings add a lot of replay value to the whole experience. I wish there was a New Game Plus option (or even just a New Game option that doesn't remove your old progress), but I felt like I received one of the best endings. It's a much stronger narrative than that of the previous game and this is not only due to the more intriguing characters and themes, but also due to the better mission design. I blew down a tower, used my wingsuit to fly through the Himalayas and jumped from a four wheeler to a plane in the 25 hour run time.

While the story is great, everyone knows that you play Far Cry for the open ended exploration and the giant, beautiful worlds. Kyrat isn't much larger than the Rook Islands, but it is more detailed and the high mountains, red toned landscapes and areas of snow add a lot of variety and there are hundreds of locations that can be discovered, each holding new secrets and hidden treasures. Of course, the place is dotted with distractions, ranging from hunting and assassination side quests, to propaganda destruction missions and supply runs. The cool radio towers from FC3 also return and they're even more puzzling this time around. The outposts are still the best part of the game though and silently infiltrating a base and killing everyone without raising an alarm is tense and enjoyable for many reasons. New fortresses are also included and they're about four times the size of an easy post and are guarded by traps and snipers. There are four in total and the strategy required to bring them down is cool. If you don't want to progress through the campaign for the best odds, best pick a friend in co-op. This new feature only extends to the side activities and open world distractions, but it feels like a perfect fit for the game and can craft even more memorable moments. Best keep that Share button at the ready!

Gameplay wise it is pretty similar to Far Cry 3 and the only real new features are a grappling hook, shooting while driving and new types of takedowns. You get the wingsuit almost at the start now as well and new driving controls take a while to get used to, but make moving combat smoother. Shooting is still the best in the business, with every gun feeling great and the levelling, crafting and money systems return but are now much easier to navigate. Grappling makes climbing mountains easier, but you can't use it everywhere. Still it looks very cool!

Far Cry 4 also includes a big map editor, a competitive horde like arena mode and PVP that casts players across two different sides. All of this is welcome and doesn't feel crammed in, but the massive singleplayer is where it's all at. GOTY'14!

Far Cry 4 offers more of the same liberating fun and a beautiful new landscape in which to have it. The Himalayan setting is gorgeous on the PS4, it is unfortunate however that it's filled with flat characters and mediocre story, and the sense of progression you feel as the protagonist goes from hapless tourist to resourceful warrior is absent this time around.

I loved the previous Far Cry games but must confess I couldn't get into this one, felt the graphics where a huge let down plus the shooting wasn't great. I also didn't buy into the story which is the biggest turn off, I jst felt it was corny and similar to past iteration in the series.

I have only spent approx. 1-2 hours playing it and I don't feel the urge to put the disc into my ps4

Far Cry 4 has a lot to offer, story that is interesting(unpopular opinion) and a "funny ending"(the ending was a surprise to me like they did on Far Cry 3). The characters is okay, the character of Amita and Sabal are dicks and a**holes while the villain is more interesting and much better than them, Pagan Min is just amazing, yes not as scary and as insane as Vaas but Pagan is just conflicting, conflicting if he is the good guy or the bad guy throughout the game because of the other two who behaves more of a villains than the good guys.

There so much to do in Far Cry 4 but sometimes the missions can be very repetitive. the game is much easier than Far Cry 3, the hardest version for Far Cry 4 is a normal version for Far Cry 3. The villain even if he is conflicting and lovable (at least for me) is given short amount of time. The main character, we don't get emotional attachment or any interesting things to say and feel about him. The game gives a feeling of the same, if you play too much of the far cry franchise with just a little amount of updated game mechanics.

Far cry 4 is a good game and sure you will enjoy this.

I am generally not a fan of first-person shooter games. Most of them are just trying to be a bit too edgy in my opinion. I am generally not a fan of first-person shooter games. Most of them are just trying to be a bit too edgy in my opinion. Far Cry 4 breaks away from that stereotype by giving exploration, story, involvement in the characters, and side missions a focus and not just mindless shooting without any real gameplay.

By far my favorite part of Far Cry 4 is the open world. I sometimes didn't touch the story for days and instead ran across Kyrat, taking down the Royal Army and just seeing what I could discover. I may not see the same locations or people every day and I may not get into the same situations. The amount of variety on display is simply staggering. It's fun to just mess around in the open world before returning to the mission-based narrative.

That's not intended as a slight to the story. In fact, I found the story to be much better than Far Cry 3's cliché-driven, over the top drug fest. The protagonist, Ajay, is much more likable than Jason. I actually felt as if I was having an effect on Kyrat and its people. Far Cry 4's story was also much more my style--it is morally grey as opposed to 3's black and white story. Sometimes you may like the leaders of the Golden Path, sometimes you may prefer Pagan. I also really liked the choices dynamic where you decide whether or not you should side with Amita or Sabal. I wish that the writers took it one step further and allowed us to side with Pagan on some missions though. That would've been a real treat.

I found the gameplay incredibly addicting. The map is simplistic and straightforward as opposed to games like AC: Unity or LEGO Force Awakens (a niche example, I know) where you are flooded with so many things that you don't even know where to start and you don't know what's happening. The sense of progression in the game is very well done as well. You always feel like you can get better. There's almost always skills and weapons out there that are better than what you have now.

Far Cry 4 is a very, very good game. Though the gameplay is not changed much, the overall experience is a massive improvement over Far Cry 3. It simply cannot be argued.

This is called the "character introduction" phase of story telling, and FarCry just decides to pretty much skip it. But you know what? Screw it. We know what we're all here for - let the chaos commence!

This game is a lot of fun. It jumps straight into the action and you immediately get a lot of freedom to roam about. The addition of eagles is also a terrible idea since they are one of the most annoying things I have encountered in a video game.

Co-op is fun but I found it to be unreliable, I frequently lost connection to my partner even though multiplayer works flawlessly with other games.

Overall I would say that it's not a bad game but it's not particularly good either, if you enjoyed Far Cry 3, you will enjoy this since they're basically the same game.

Far Cry 4 is a great game as it truly is pure fun. Where Far Cry 4 fails is where 3 succeeded: in its surprise. While 3's level of quality came out of nowhere, 4 just feels more of the same. That is not to say it is bad, in fact it is probably a better game than 3 as it creates a bigger, more interesting and beautiful world.

The beauty of the world is extraordinary and more than ever the world feels alive with pop up Karma events and the sheer volume of animals roaming the land. The draw distance and processing power of the PS4 really make a big difference and the mountains in this game look outstanding. Key to this world is traversal and the game nails this. From buzzer helicopters to wingsuits and simply grappling up mountains, travelling across the map is an enjoyable experience and often a thrilling way to take in the scenery. The auto drive system introduced into the vehicles is a stroke of simple genius. Fast travel is also there when needing to get across the map quickly.

The characters of Far Cry 4 are very hit and miss. The playable character is very forgettable and perhaps would have been better silent or radical different. Your allies within the Golden Path are very run of the mill characters. The show is stolen by the wonderful work of Troy Baker as Pagan Min, one of the most memorable villains in recent video game history. Far Cry 4 faced the almost impossible job of living up to the iconic Vaas of Far Cry 3 and some how they did it. The only downside of Pagan Min is that he could have been utilised more.

The story is interesting but not extraordinary, it fails to reach the heights of the world and the villain but does have its moments. Where it success most is in its meaningful decisions which can shape the story and the future of Kyrat. I found myself agonising ver decisions and regretting choices which is a great sign that the choices are implemented effectively.

The game is filled with additional activities. The variety of side quests are great and often challenging and interesting, especially the Kyrat Fashion Week activities and the racing challenges. some activities get a bit repetitive however such as the hostage scenarios. Perhaps less would have been more in ths=is case and with some other areas such as towers. Its not a Ubisoft game seemingly unless you have to climb a tower to unlock the map and 17 towers is simply too many as after 5 its just not that interesting. Furtherore the amount of drug infused 'trippy' missions ruined the effect, they were impressive stylistically through sound and vision but that effect wore off after a few times. Moreover the Shangri-La activities seemed to fill the same goal of these missions of changing up the style and gameplay. By having these activities too there was simply an over saturation of visions and trips.

On a performance level the game is pretty faultless. the only annoyance was se failed respawns and often respawnng far away from where the death took part back to the last camp. This is a great and extremely fun game that just didn't really surprise or raise the bar enough from the previous entry.

Yes the scenery is great but honestly I think I saw better on my XBox 360. However in terms of playability I'm not convinced with this one. You run around, back and forth, collecting things and running into people who have maybe half a dozen words to say then run back again. What's the point? Where's the interest?

I wish I knew why this game has rated so well among the critics.

Brilliant game.... visually stunning and tons of fun. Big improvement over Far Cry 3 and good multiplayer too. The worst part is the radio announcer who comes on way too often, swears too much, and is too vile, making the game almost impossible to play with kids around. What a great game. The gameplay is great, the scenery is amazingly beautiful, there's so much to do that you'll be playing this for countless hours and the hunting is exhilarating. I can't describe the feeling I get when I stalk a black bear in the woods at night... or it stalks me. I love this game.

Far Cr 4 is Farc Cry 3 with a weaker story. The gameplay is the same. It's a different island. I don't think this game deserves the high praise it has gotten. It's a very good game if you haven't played FC3.

Far Cry 4 has nice graphics,(only on PS4 and Xbox One) but that's all that Far Cry 4 has going for it. Apart from that, FC4 is a blatant rip-off of FC3. The story is just like Far Cry 3, except dumbed down and much less interesting and compelling. The gameplay is exactly the same, except for the world you're in. And the villain is just a plain Vaas wannabe. Don't buy this game, buy FC3, orFar Cry 4 has nice graphics,(only on PS4 and Xbox One) but that's all that Far Cry 4 has going for it. Although it sticks too closely to the Far Cry 3 Formula, Far Cry 4 is a welcoming entry to the Franchise and whats missing in story it makes up for in the open world gameplay which is more breathtaking and even more fun and varied than 3 (riding Elephants is a lot more fun than you'd think) , the story and lack of originality hold it back from being great game or even as great as Far Cry 3.

Admittedly my opinion of this game might be slightly skewed as I have a hard-on for Indo-Himalayan culture, but I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The only let down was a slightly generic story. Yes it was almost identical to Far Cry 3 in gameplay and functionality, but if it ain't broke, why fix it?

A wild and varied sandbox shooter that dazzles with sublime scenery and delights with a thriving animal ecosystem. Frosty fun guaranteed. [Jan 2015, p.75]
