Its one of the best games of 2014, its doesn't innovate with gameplay when comparing with Far Cry 3, but its still a good gameplay. It has an interesting story and is a fun ride that everyone who wants just get fun from a video game needs.

The story was alright nothing award winning but that was not expected, a nice touch was the ability to make certain decisions in the campaign which was pretty cool, the online portion of the game can be fun at times but nothing that'll keep people up all night playing it. Overall it's a good game and a must buy for fans of Far Cry 3. Expand

I got this game when I purchased a PS4 and have logged in about 50 hours in the game and honestly, Far Cry 4 is far too similar to its predecessor to warrant a $60 price tag. However, that is not a bad draw back per say, the gameplay is smooth and competent, the graphics are stunning, (Thanks next gen) and the story is impressive if a bit bland. Not a bad game, but it's better than the money hungry games that have been coming out recently. Expand

At its core FC4 is a good game, it takes the easy approach and doesn't stray from the excellent path that FC3 lay down. The core mechanics all feel familiar to anyone who has played FC3 before, but just a bit more tweaked.

I appreciate the extra customisation of your loadouts and all of the skill trees, crafting and looting that you can do. There are seriously huge amounts of activities to keep you occupied in Kyrat.

Kyrat itself is a great location offering some moments of exceptional beauty... is it a true 'next gen' game? no... but it is a step up. The verticality of the map is difficult to get used to having come from FC2 & 3 which were huge open vistas, and I do find myself missing those beautiful easy to reach islands in FC3.

The music, ambiance, sound effects and acting is of an excellent quality... but the story seems a tad throw away, with Min's character in particular not getting anywhere near enough screen time.

The downsides for me were the annoying outposts that keep getting taken over the moment you liberate them and the wonky pathfinding AI - for me it seemed to lose track of where i needed to go and kept having to check my map.

But all in all, a really solid game and an excellent time waster.

Far Cry 4 is one of those games that give you a living, breathing and engaging world. The story talks about our hero protagonist Agay Ghale, an ex-pat who returns to his parent’s homeland of Kyrat to accomplish his mother’s wishes by scattering her ashes. Ajay’s father was a well-known figure in Kyrat and the family name is considered very important to the locals. Shockingly, he finds Kyrat filled with political unrest.

The village is now led by Pagan Min, A smart and ruthless cold blooded killer. The introduction of Pagan is very strong but sadly he vanishes of screen for a surprisingly long time which causes his character to become weaker and less of a threat when he comes back later in the game. Ajay then joins a rebel group called the Golden Path led by Sabal and Amita to destroy the Regime.

The first thing you will notice is how impressive the Himalayan nation of Kyrat is, large mountains, beautiful tropical forests, ancient ruins and people living their daily lives. The huge world is intimidating with great little touches in the details that are highly appreciated and I did not notice any loading times throughout the game.

The character animation is very good and you really do feel the suffering of locals through their expressions. The political stakes are high between the Golden Path leaders Sabal and Amita. Both have solid performances throughout the game. Each of them wants to destroy Pagans Rule but have their own vision of doing it. Both visions are logical but you will have to make a tough decision between the two which will affect the future of Kyrat.

The 32 missions are interesting and don’t feel repetitive because they vary depending on whose side you chose. The world is filled with activities to do apart from the main story like races, controlling sections, assassinations and hostage missions. You will gradually unlock more side missions the more outposts you control. The more you take over outposts the weaker Pagan’s army becomes and infiltrating them this time around is more fun because each one needs a different strategic approach by either going full force or stealth without anyone seeing you. After you control an outpost, it will become your safe house and you will have access to first travel.

Liberating radio towers early in the game is important because it unlocks various weapons and will open parts of the map that shows new landmarks and animal locations. The AI is smarter this time around, the enemies will guard their area well and if they lose their outpost, they might return at a later stage and fight back.
The gun mechanics are solid with a lot of weapons at your disposal.

Wild life in Kyrak is vast and diverse; some will run away when they see you while others such as the eagles, bears and tigers will attack you if they find an opportunity. Most of the animals are tough and attack surprisingly. One time I was on a mission when all of a sudden a Rhino attacks me from the side, luckily I had a C4 equipped and took him out quickly. You can also use some animals to your advantage to turn the tide of battle in your favor by letting them out of the cage for them to attack or by riding an elephant and destroying everything that crosses your path.

Hunting wildlife for their skins will be used for crafting all sorts of things such as wallets, loot bags, and explosive bags, while collecting plants will allow you to create syringes. You can also earn karma by performing good tasks for the locals or by killing an animal with your arrow instead of a rocket launcher. This rewards you with experience points to improve your skill.
Traveling from point to point is fun and there are numerous vehicles that are available; however, some worth noting are the return of the hang glider which allows you to see the beautiful world from above. The wingsuit, a cool suit that is activated after a high jump. My personal favorite was the Buzzer, a small helicopter which you can also use to attack the enemies from above. There are some new mechanics in the game; you can now shoot while driving and the grappling hook that is mainly used for hard to reach places.

fter you complete Act 1, you will unlock co-op. I found co-op very fun to play because it added to the overall experience. Taking over an outpost with a buddy never felt better.

Far Cry 4 has a 5 on 5 multiplayer mode. You can either be the Golden Path who are heavily armed or the Rakshasa, a stealth group equipped with a bow and arrow. The multiplayer is well balanced, but I didn’t enjoy it much like other multiplayer games and didn’t find much reason to go back.

The overall story wasn’t very strong and you most probably won’t remember the main character after you complete the game. The lack of Pagan Min throughout most of the game is a letdown because his character could have done so much more. What truly shines is the fun gameplay and gorgeous, unpredictable world.

Yes, there are a lot of similarities to Far Cry 3 but this isn’t a bad thing because Far Cry 3 was a good game.

Far Cry 4 is a significant step forward for the series and worth checking out.

Concerning the gameplay its your typical Far Cry game, which is both its strongest and weakest point; chasing the wildlife, infiltrating or burning an outpost, climbing a tower to clear the map, etc. We've done those things a thousand times before and get ready to do it another couple hundred times. It's fun when you start the game but at the end its just too much of the same thing.

Same goes for the story with a charismatic antagonist and an undergoing revolution, you can count around 35 hours to finish the game at 100% ,10 of them are for the main campaign the rest for the side-activities which like said earlier are pretty repetitive.

In conclusion Far Cry 4 is a good game, but despise the original location it lacks imagination and innovations. I advise this game for any gamers who didn't play Far Cry 3 or for the ones that are looking for similar experiences.

Far Cry 4 offers more of the same liberating fun and a beautiful new landscape in which to have it. The Himalayan setting is gorgeous on the PS4, it is unfortunate however that it's filled with flat characters and mediocre story, and the sense of progression you feel as the protagonist goes from hapless tourist to resourceful warrior is absent this time around.

In a gaming market flooded with "definitive and remastered" editions, Far Cry 4 sticks to the formula of its predecessor but adds a whole new world to explore with new characters, wildlife and PvP modes. We could have gotten Far Cry 3 Remastered but instead we got something fresher, more crisp and an overall greater accomplishment than an up-scaled port of its predecessor. Job well done, Ubisoft.

Far Cry 4 is a open world, shooter game. My son wanted to preorder this in Gamestop for 70€ and says its worth it. At first when watching campaign trailers it looks bloody. The game is beautiful and I'm an adult saying this. It contains violence but I think if my 13 year old is not scared by it it should fine. It's a great game and nothing to be too daunted about.

I wonder if the same reviewers pick up GTA 5 and say "I cannot believe that GTA 5 is soooo similar to previous GTAs! What were Rockstar thinking?!!" There's no way the next Assassins Creed game could be ANYTHING like the previous ones, right? And why is every Super Mario a brick blasting platformer? Can't they EVER be original? Sheesh!

Anyway, with that shot at hypocrite cloud shouters off my chest, I think that Far Cry 4 is a step up from the excellent FC3. The visual splendor is glorious. The improvements to crafting are welcome. The improvements to some enemy AI particularly around fortress domination is a welcome addition.

Far Cry 4 is more of the same. In this instance, that's not a bad thing at all. It's a highly entertaining enterprise that they have significantly improved since the disappointing FC2 looked to almost end the series. The downside are that the main storyline is a little ho hum, yet this is overshadowed by so much to do to entertain yourself that you may just want to leave as much of the main quests til last.

The truly free roam of the world is a sight to be hold. Scaling mountainsides only to bask in the crisp ranges and green valleys is very much worth it. If it looks this good on PS4 I can only imagine how insane it must look on a top end Ultra level PC.

The only main annoyance I have had with this game is the vicious nature of eagles. It's like they've become ravenous human hunters. I understand if I'm near your nest Mr. Eagle that you may become protective... but I was minding my own business on the valley floor and you had a beef with my existence? Sheesh!

If you like Far Cry games or shooters in general like Crysis, this is worth getting.

The characters is okay, the character of Amita and Sabal are dicks and a**holes while the villain is more interesting and much better than them, Pagan Min is just amazing, yes not as scary and as insane as Vaas but Pagan is just conflicting, conflicting if he is the good guy or the bad guy throughout the game because of the other two who behaves more of a villains than the good guys.

There so much to do in Far Cry 4 but sometimes the missions can be very repetitive. the game is much easier than Far Cry 3, the hardest version for Far Cry 4 is a normal version for Far Cry 3. The villain even if he is conflicting and lovable (at least for me) is given short amount of time. The main character, we don't get emotional attachment or any interesting things to say and feel about him. The game gives a feeling of the same, if you play too much of the far cry franchise with just a little amount of updated game mechanics.

Far Cry 4 is a great game as it truly is pure fun. Where Far Cry 4 fails is where 3 succeeded: in its surprise. While 3's level of quality came out of nowhere, 4 just feels more of the same. That is not to say it is bad, in fact it is probably a better game than 3 as it creates a bigger, more interesting and beautiful world.

That is not to say it is bad, in fact it is probably a better game than 3 as it creates a bigger, more interesting and beautiful world.

The beauty of the world is extraordinary and more than ever the world feels alive with pop up Karma events and the sheer volume of animals roaming the land. The draw distance and processing power of the PS4 really make a big difference and the mountains in this game look outstanding. Key to this world is traversal and the game nails this. From buzzer helicopters to wingsuits and simply grappling up mountains, travelling across the map is an enjoyable experience and often a thrilling way to take in the scenery. The auto drive system introduced into the vehicles is a stroke of simple genius. Fast travel is also there when needing to get across the map quickly.

The characters of Far Cry 4 are very hit and miss. The playable character is very forgettable and perhaps would have been better silent or radical different. Your allies within the Golden Path are very run of the mill characters. The show is stolen by the wonderful work of Troy Baker as Pagan Min, one of the most memorable villains in recent video game history. Far Cry 4 faced the almost impossible job of living up to the iconic Vaas of Far Cry 3 and some how they did it. The only downside of Pagan Min is that he could have been utilised more.

The story is interesting but not extraordinary, it fails to reach the heights of the world and the villain but does have its moments. Where it success most is in its meaningful decisions which can shape the story and the future of Kyrat. I found myself agonising ver decisions and regretting choices which is a great sign that the choices are implemented effectively.

The game is filled with additional activities. The variety of side quests are great and often challenging and interesting, especially the Kyrat Fashion Week activities and the racing challenges. some activities get a bit repetitive however such as the hostage scenarios. Perhaps less would have been more in ths=is case and with some other areas such as towers. Its not a Ubisoft game seemingly unless you have to climb a tower to unlock the map and 17 towers is simply too many as after 5 its just not that interesting. Furtherore the amount of drug infused 'trippy' missions ruined the effect, they were impressive stylistically through sound and vision but that effect wore off after a few times. Moreover the Shangri-La activities seemed to fill the same goal of these missions of changing up the style and gameplay. By having these activities too there was simply an over saturation of visions and trips.

On a performance level the game is pretty faultless. the only annoyance was se failed respawns and often respawnng far away from where the death took part back to the last camp. This is a great and extremely fun game that just didn't really surprise or raise the bar enough from the previous entry.

Great game. It improves on the core gameplay mechanics from Far Cry 3, so in a technical sense, Far Cry 4 is better. Story wise, it was good, there were a few cliche moments, and they tried to incorporate another psychotic villain in this one. There is a lot of variety in the missions, and this sandbox environment gives you a lot to play with. Some may say its like Far Cry 3, and what IGreat game. They threw in a few new mechanics that were just enough to keep it fresh and interesting, while being a familiar experience to those who played Far Cry 3. I give this a light 8/10, and I hope they mix up the Far Cry formula for the next installment. Expand

The Game Is just beautiful. Ubisoft really outdone themselves this time. Although it sticks too closely to the Far Cry 3 Formula, Far Cry 4 is a welcoming entry to the Franchise and whats missing in story it makes up for in the open world gameplay which is more breathtaking and even more fun and varied than 3 (riding Elephants is a lot more fun than you'd think) , the story and lack of originality hold it back from being great game or even as great as Far Cry 3.
