    The story and antagonist is well conceptualised but it's clear the director wanted to tell more. Yet the publisher did not allow that to happen.

    Content wise, the game was a major step-up from Far Cry 3, though I didn't really appreciate the story and how you're really rooting for the supposed "bad guy" at the end. And at times you're really doing the game side missions over and over. I'm also glad this was the last game with the stupid towers that seemed to plague every Ubisoft game for a time.

    Game is fun but it feels like your controlling a sack of bricks for the first half of the game until you get a **** ton of upgrades. Shooting is not very fun because of this.

    Good solo player game with good voice acting. The use of animals and the helicopter are creative twists that I enjoy. The multiplayer function doesn't function...random invites to others' games always fail as does invites to friends list people. For that reason, the game that could have been a ten can only be a max of five. Will take this down as I play the solo player if needed. RecommendGood solo player game with good voice acting.     Kidnapped by some psycho killer 'King' of warring chaos wilderland, but you escape, join up with some rebels and wander the wilderland, hunting animals, climbing up radio towers to unlock the map and ..... sound a bit like Farcry 3. It is. Incidental storyline, pretty graphics, dumb enemy AI. Essentially a PS3 game with a PC/PS4 graphical makeover at PS 4 game prices.     Far Cry 4 is an Ok game. My take on this game is how UbiSoft always try to push coop while it's really broken.
    Game is good. nothing special from Far Cry 3 Except being bigger with more variety of side actions/quests.

    1. Breathtaking visuals and setting. If you love mountainous regions and beautiful forests, you will love the setting of FC4.

    1. Poor writing in lore, journal, collectible entries. Feels like a middle school kid wrote it.

    2. Not enough of a motivation to clear the map, do side missions, activities, etc. Wildlands had a strong plot cos I really wanted to bring down the drug cartel and the missions/activities in Wildlands felt grounded in reality. FC4 felt too artificial, with stuff like Karma Events, convoys, animal hunts, fashion hunts, that felt contrived and not a natural part of the setting. After 10hrs, I lost interest and motivation to continue. I frequently asked myself, why am I doing all these stuff again??

    3. Gunplay lacks the weight and punch that are in games like Destiny, Wolfenstein, Doom, Titanfall. It felt very COD like which if you enjoy then this will be a plus for you. Gun sounds aren't impressive, and shooting feels light with minimal recoil or impact. Aim assist is too generous so I turned it off. Enemy detection is crazy annoying. Everyone will know where u are right away, and the game isn't built for stealth unlike Wildlands where u can go prone and take cover.

    4. Too many unnecessary collectibles and activities that are uninspired. Take down 150posters, find masks, find lost letters. The number at the end of each collectible fills me with dread cos it makes the game like an unending list of chores. Discovery of the world doesn't feel fluid and natural which leads to my next point.

    5. Bell towers. This mechanic MUST be abolished. No game should ever have this evil tedious mechanic in them. You need to climb 17 towers to unfog the map, and each time u climb a tower, the game SHOWS you locations to visit which all feel and look the same after my 8th tower. No sense of exploration and discovery. Just ubisoft handholding me every step of the way. Poor game design.

    6. Treasure boxes, "loot", economy, hunting of animals to upgrade wallet/ammo/etc. Gets old fast. Annoying to have these animals attack u, and they are definitely placed at towers instead of being peocedurally generated.

    TLDR: FarCry4 isba supremely annoying and frustrating game to play with minimal story motivation but maximum list of chores to do.    … Expand

    I loved FC3 but somehow I really dislike this one. I can't connect to the story like I did in FC3 and the struggles of some freedom fighting group aren't interesting. Also they never help out in combat and constantly run me over with their vehicles and if you try to help and graze one they all turn on you instantly. Visually the game is beautiful and what I saw of Pagan I loved, but II loved FC3 but somehow I really dislike this one. I can't connect to the story like I did in FC3 and the struggles of some freedom fighting group aren't interesting.     As much as i enjoyed Far Cry 3, i don't feel like i want to the same kind of stuff all over again (liberating outposts, climbing radio towers, killing animals to get their skins…) , but now in a unnecessarily bigger open world map filled with WAY more repetitive and laborious content, along boring characters (except the villain) and a uninteresting plot.

    Let me just come out and say it. JASON IS BOOORING! You cant just take a 100 mile open world and fill it with stupid AI and killer eagles and expect it to be epic just because its big. If you are to give your main caracter a voice and a face like gta 5 did successfully YOU NEED REAL CARACTER DEVELOPEMENT, or else the entire open world experience is ruined

The major thing i thought when i first turned it on was "looks ugly" but i will still give it a go. After spending 23hrs in this game world and playing bits of the side quests it wasn't all fun. The story is boring, the graphics weak the side quests endless and repetative. Now the good, GUNS GUNS GUNS this is where it shines and the weapons feel fantastic and look great also but this one part cant hold this game up. I think its time to give Far Cry a rest for a few years.… Expand

If you map forward and fire to the mouse, the key you map to go backwards decides to quit. Then it assigns itself to the LMB with the Fire function, great I guess if you like to shoot and retreat in one go but useless any other time. Grappling and rope climbing is impossible unless you assign forward to the keyboard instead of the mouse...I mean c'mon...seriously? All this time, money and testing and you can't climb a rope...someone in QA should be shown the door. And on a hardware note, if you're lucky enough to be an AMD fanboy with a Crossfire setup you are SOL. As of writing this, CF is not supported and if you try to force CF into the game you're greeted with flicker hell...honestly I would have happily waited for another month or two for Ubisoft to get it 100% right because as of right now, my left hand oriented, Crossfire equipped gaming rig will not be enjoying FC4 until someone fixes the issues.… Expand

The co-op "campaign" doesn't allow for actual campaign missions -- only side missions -- and only one friend can join at a time. The 5v5 PvP interface is a horrible kludge and, once again, if you want to play with more than one friend you're looking at theWas looking forward to the touted "amazing co-op!".     I loved the previous Far Cry games but must confess I couldn't get into this one, felt the graphics where a huge let down plus the shooting wasn't great. I also didn't buy into the story which is the biggest turn off, I jst felt it was corny and similar to past iteration in the series.

    I have only spent approx. 1-2 hours playing it and I don't feel the urge to put the disc into my ps4    I loved the previous Far Cry games but must confess I couldn't get into this one, felt the graphics where a huge let down plus the shooting wasn't great.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not expecting much when it come to design- some general variation in landscape, a solid control scheme and incentive to play. Shame none of these felt present in the game after a few years of waiting. The only reason I finished the game was to get to the end. Come to think of it now, Far Cry 4 is like a massive baked potato; it's the same as Baked Potato 3, it sometimes has a bit of butter and cheese, maybe some baked beans if you're lucky, but overall it's still just potato all the way through without much else to it.

    The story was like JD and coke you leave out for a couple of days as well; weak and flat. The Amita/Sabal choices always annoyed me because of how indistinct both their ideologies were. Here's an idea guys, instead of asking me all the time to choose, put it down to a vote of the people who are actually going to being living in Kyrat after you throw Pagen over, because I honestly do not give a toss about you once I've scattered my mums ashes.

    Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game. So is Connect 4 though, but at least it doesn't drag on and it's over quickly.    … Expand

    Why does Ubisoft keep putting unskippable cutscenes on the Far Cry games when NOBODY wants them. And some are 5 minutes long!! Such a waste of a good game. The game is actually awesome, when you can play that is. Please if there's a Far Cry 5, make it optional to watch the scenes. You do it for Assassin's Creed, why should this be any different

    I like games where you run around and shoot things. That's why I loved the COD and Splinter Cell series. However this game is .. well, just running around and shooting or slashing things.

    Yes the scenery is great but honestly I think I saw better on my XBox 360. However in terms of playability I'm not convinced with this one.     I can't believe this got first person shooter of the year, must've been a crap year for games. The game play is very repetitive and average, the graphics are good but I prefered the atmosphere of Far Cry's 1 & 3 tropical islands. The multiplayer is good but a limited number of players.

    Far Cr 4 is Farc Cry 3 with a weaker story. The gameplay is the same. It's a different island. I don't think this game deserves the high praise it has gotten. It's a very good game if you haven't played FC3.

    UPDATED: The biggest problem is the boring world and side activities. The main quest is alright, and there are some interesting ideas going on. But, the main antagonist barely has any development, and the game feels too much like Far Cry 3.

    This game was seriously disappointing. After Far Cry 3, I expected this to be even better, but it wasn't. The story didn't move me like Far Cry 3, and while the graphics and gameplay are definitely improved, it was just so boring (Probably because it's completely recycled from Far Cry 3). Pagan Min is a terrible villain compared to Vaas, by the way.

    I have played games for over 20 years and this is a mediocre experience. The developers trust that the open world will be engaging enough to keep players playing but frankly its mostly just getting from A to B. I would call this a travel simulator with some shooting and stealth in between. The characters are weak and you feel no connection with them and the story feels plaster on like a band aid.

    О, так сказать, визуальной составляющей.
    Ну начну с того, что игры такого класса не делают за год с небольшим. Так что считаю игру выпущенной строго к старту нового поколения консолей. Игра вышла кстати и на предыдущем поколении. И я не представлял какое же это говно, в графическом плане на постгеге. Как можно было сделать красивейший Far Cry 3 и через год выпустить такой кал на том же движке и на том же железе? Уму не постижимо! Пробовал её и на PlayStation 4. Никакой выдающейся разницы, в сравнении с Far Cry 3 на PS3 я не заметил.
    Что касается сюжета, над ним тоже долго не думали. Придумали трансвестита-антагониста, а так же двух придурков пытающихся занять его место, типа твоих помощников. Ещё это одна из немногих игр в которых после 3х часов, мне очень хотелось собственноручно задушить этих самых друзей-помощников. До того они тупые.
    В шутерной механике это оказался всё тот же Far Cry 3. Единственное нововведение это кошка и читерский "вертолётик".
    Ещё одно разочарование, это оружие. В игре его много, очень много. Но оно совершенно не нужно. Это касается и третьей, да и пятой частей серии. Всю игру проходишь с оружием полученным в первые 3 часа игры, потому что всё остальное оружие либо такое же, либо даже хуже твоего по характеристикам. И покупать его за бешенные деньги смысла нет. Отличия чисто визуальные.
    Пытался поиграть позже, как я уже говорил, на PlayStation 4, но через пару часов забросил. До того игра скучна, даже с улучшенной графикой.
    Нововведение которое действительно понравилось это, как я уже говорил, была кошка, но она мне пригодилась по полной только в Far Cry Primal, одной из лучших и недооценённых игр этого поколения.
    Ещё в игру добавили кооп, совершенно не играбельный по интернету.
    Резюмирую. Far Cry 4 типичный, одноразовый проходняк. Не приносящий ничего качественно нового серии. С тупыми и не проработанными главными героями. При том нашего протагониста именно в этой серии лишили языка. Вот так.    … Expand

    Graphics looks really fine for nearly 7 years game, gameplay is fine, could be better could be worse. Story didn't take me on a best spin but it is always nice to do some shooting and action.

    It's decent, I ended up finishing it. Story's nothing special. Driving everywhere gets annoying. Towers & other missions get repetitive. Graphics are great.

I played a good 5 hours of it but it just felt like an expanision pack for far cry 3, which I`d grown tired of for the relentless tasks that you have to keep going over and over doing. Got bored very quickly which is a shame because its a good looking game. So if you`ve had enought of far cry 3 you wont find anything newHave played all the previous games but just couldnt get on with this.     To be clear this is Farcry 3 with a shiny skin. The reason I cant go any higher is due to cheap element used in programming this game. You take over a base no Army travels to come take it back ,,no, they pop up out of the dirt next to the camp and you go again, the bird just spawns out of the sky and attacks you, tiger just keeps spawning same spot over and over, IN FACT, everything that attack you just keeps popping out of the ground nearby and it obvious... Like a tower defense that wears you down.

    This make killing something seem useless since they just regenerate instantly. This is easy programming, make the game longer, but it makes the game suck, frustrating and cheap feeling.

    No new AI or animations, FARCRY 3 engine used here. Cheap gimmicks are what UBISOFT is now.    … Expand

    This game is just like Farcry 3. Just not as good, and with less interesting characters, and story, and lacks a decent multiplayer mode.

    Just get Farcry 3 instead.

    I couldn’t get into this one. Loved FC3 but this didn’t hook me. Played 2-3 hours and then stopped. Spent too much time aimlessly walking around the map.

    You cans imply end the game with the basic setup of guns, as i went into halfway without changing, and after it didnt felt a difference at all. The Shangri-La missions maybe end weak, but are at least kind a original. Me myself didnt enjoy them, but i can see others finding those a solid element of the title.
    As FC3 the taking of posts and towers is satysfying... but it felt so easy that i halfway through didnt enjoy it anymore. But once again i can see someone enjoying it..

    To sum it up. I felt this game unispiring at all and aiming for easy money. Im giving it a 4/10.    … Expand

    I can not in good faith, give Far Cry 4 a good score. Is this really even Far Cry anymore? I'm playing a mission right now, on top of a cliff, needing to get down to do whatever I need to do. I attempt to backtrack to run along a ridge behind me - out of bounds, mission fails. I retry, I see a grapple spot about 20m to my left. I proceed to latch on, it says Out of bounds again.     I finally just ski down the the extremely steep slope like I'm on a snowboard, about 150m or so, straight down, not stopping the entire way. No health lost, nothing. No big deal. I get down, immediately get attacked by: a) An eagle, b) Pit viper, c) "Hunters" (really?) and apparently, d) His pet wolf. Oh, the hunters have flame arrows to make it super irritating.

    I've played this game for roughly 4 hours so far, and can not begin to comprehend how it has a 8+. It's literally Far Cry 3.1: Himalayan Edition. Same weapons, same controls, same map design, same collectibles, same skills, same generic bad guys, same retarded AI, same outpost design, same scripted events, same perfectly set up animal-gets-loose-and-kills-everyone-for-you scenarios, same radio tower mission structure, etc, etc.

    It's boring, uninteresting, uninspired, hackneyed, contrived, repetitive, stagnant crap. It was OK with Far Cry 3 (at least the flowers don't glow and dubstep doesn't play all the time), but again? The same exact game, again? Please...I've had enough, this game is going right on ebay.

    I was a huge fan of Far Cry 2, I put a shameful amount of time into that game (story and MP). This game...this game is an abomination. It did well, so I know Far Cry 5 will come out next year - season pass and zero innovation in hand. Only this time, I won't waste any time on it.

Straitjacketing the game player in this manner constantly reminds the gamer that they are, in fact, playing a game, removing any sense of suspension of disbelief and in so doing making it difficult to really to immerse yourself in the vast world the game offers.

    This is a real shame and I feel demonstrates a rather patronizing attitude towards to gaming community in general. Its as if we are all too stupid to make our own decisions and make our way through the game using our wits needing instead to be led by the nose from beginning to end.

    For myself I'll be saying goodbye to the Far Cry series. I have loyally endured to date but prefer games that let me use my wits and imagination to solve the challenges presented which is what good gaming is really all about.    … Expand

    It's a very pretty game, with some very nice and well thought out environments. However the I found the gameplay to be pretty lacking overall and the story, characters and overall message of the game was downright embarrassing. I'd rather play the Far Cry 3 DLC Blood Dragon.

Predators can be spawned at will by throwing a piece of meat wherever; rediculous. Rare animals like Rhinos and Blackbears are everywhere to be found.
    The great potential of a game like this lies in the action which sadly is too easy. All outposts can be conquered in less than half a minute easily. And the "Great" fortresses are just a little bit more difficult. The game reinforces sexism, if that sound interesting to anyone, by putting all morally wrong optional choises with the female antagonist and the emotionally correct choices with the male one. Personally I'm not sure if I care but I do not like feeling manipulated.
    Now it's not all bad. The action can be fun from time to time. But having experienced Far Cry 3 this feels like a bad ripoff where the creators have just cramed in as much stuff as they could to make it seem cool. And it probably does to 15 year olds. Maybe this game isn't made for me? In which case I say fine. I didn't pay anything for it anyway, thank god. Honestly, it's a piece of crap. Because of all the lost potential.     I really liked FC3, but this seems like a step back. The gun play is very sloppy. The story in not nearly as engaging, and the location is not as interesting. I played for maybe 4 hours and lost interest. Overall a missed opportunity. They should have focused on blood dragon, and expanded that concept.

Repetative like everyone is saying. throughout the second half of the game I'm not sure what changed from the first but it seemed that headshot didn't do what they are supposed to. On assassination missions, they would spot you from a mile away while you're crouched down in a bush. The driving could use some work. Im notFirst half of the game gets 5 stars. Ubisoft has hyped this game so much, only for gamers to be disappointed yet again. Ubisoft has easily become one of the worst game developing companies, alongside EA. FC4 feels like a FC3 for dummies. AI is incompetent and stupid. The campaign was notBought it. Played it. Beat the campaign on hardest difficulty and got the platinum trophy after 2 weeks. The terrain is even more frustrating to explore with the huge rock faces making a 200ft distance closer to 1km to reach on the windy roads.     Сюжет вторичен - изолированная экзотическая страна, приезжий главный герой, который решает все проблемы повстанцев. Сценарий не найден - гг - картонка в духе "да всех убью, да все взорву". Мотивация, если ее вообще придумали, не показана. После Джейсона в фк3, который был замотивирован по самые яйца местью за брата и спасением друзей из плена, а после еще и обоснованно примкнувшего к повстанцам, фк4 пробивает дно, и второе тоже, и третье следом. Никакого эмоционального отклика, никаких размышлений, никакого развития персонажа, так как это не персонаж. Сюжетные задания отличаются от второстепенных только тем, что выдаются не картой на столе, а озвученными именными, но такими же картонными и нехаризматичными, пустышками. Делать придется одно и то же на протяжении всей игры. Очень напоминает лутер-шутеры категории б, только вот без лута.
    Теперь о хорошем. Низкий поклон художникам, дизайнерам и моделерам, картинка очень привлекательная и радует глаз - куда ни плюнь, так везде красиво (именно их труд поднимает оценку с 0/10).
    Итог : Пустой открытый мир, который тратит время кучей боев и бессмысленных "коллекционок". Скучные основные задания. История с бумажки из урны общественного туалета и персонажи исполняющие роль брифинга. Гг - оболочка без наполнения, кукла, которая делает все, что скажут. И качественная картинка. В совокупности остается какой-то странный привкус во рту и губы обмазанные чем-то коричневым.    … Expand

    Performance on a Playstation 4 Pro is appalling, especially because of the incredibly narrow FOV that is unchangeable.

    The game looks like a pretty slideshow and isn't worth the trouble to play.

    1- STORY : IN FC3 IT WAS A NICE STORY THAT I COULD UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW LIKE A MOVIE BUT IN FC4 THERE ARE ALOT OF BRANCHES IN THE STORY THAT I WONT UNDERSTAND OR EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO .

    2-ENEMIES : IN FC3 I WAS ENJOYING THE LANGUAGE , ACCENT , WORDS OF THE ENEMIES AND I WAS SO HAPPY WITH THE REACTIONS OF THEM WHILE MOVING .. IN FC4 YOU GET DETECTED EASILY EVEN IF YOU WERE HIDING ALSO ENEMIES ALWAYS MOVE TOWARDS YOU EVEN IF YOU WERENT DETECTED SO IT WAS ANNOYING AND I DIDNT ENJOY IT AT ALL .

    3-WORLD : IN FC3 WHILE RUNING ON FOOT YOU CAN SEE WIDE ANGLE THAN IN FC4 . ALSO WHEN AN ENEMY APPROACHES YOU FROM A DISTANCE YOU CAN SEE THEM POPPING INFRONT OF YOU AND START MOVING TOWARDS YOU . AND ACTUALLY YOU CAN HEAR THE SOUND OF THE CAR STARTING FROM FIRST GEAR ..

    4-AIMING& SHOOTING : SHOOTING NEXT TO A TREE OR A ROCK IS SOO FRUSTRATING ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU AIM REALLY NEAR THE TREE YOU HIT THE TREE INSTEAD :(

    5- SPLIT SCREEN NOT AVAILABLE ... IM GOING TO DIE !!!!!!!

    6-THE RADIO MAN IS BOOOOORING .. I MEAN .. WHO LISTENS TO THIS GUY ANYWAY ??

    7-CONTROLLING THE CAR IN CONSOLES IS SOOOO DIFICULT .
