    No what's up with the people giving out terrible scores a few hours after launch - this is an amazing fallout game. This is the Fallout I've always wanted, and I can't stop playing. I cannot wait until future content is released. Don't listen to the downvote brigade, not sure why they're offended, but the game is great.

    Environmental story telling has always been Bethesda’s forte, and this map, 4 times larger than fallout 4, is a shining example.

    This game is different that other Fallout Games. I am honestly confused why people rate it 0 or 1 without have an explaintion other than “it’s gabage” (...or garbage). It’s almost as if they just watched one to many YouTube videos and had their expectations warped.

    Try to give it a chance and enjoy the new mechanics before you hate it, like the photo mode! I love how my load screens    This game is different that other Fallout Games.     You can play this game solo or with others! I have played with random people and by myself. I have also played the Beta and Ps4 day one version.

    There is graphical bugs, but nothing even close to game breaking. Keep in mind this game just released a BETA for the game before it even launched ...problems were expected. I am personally happy about how quickly some of the problems were resolved.

    There were major stability improvements since beta offering a much smoother gameplay day one. I’m looking forward to the planned updates that will add an even more enjoyable experience.

    As a final note, I strongly dislike MMO; have tried many, but played few. Fallout 76 plays different than every MMO that I’ve seen or played. It keeps true to fallout feel, while throwing a little BioShock story telling into it. The game has a wonderful mix of new and old mechanics that will bring a refreshing experience to present and future.    … Expand

    This game is going to provide me and my best friend the ability to play together in an open world we've both dreamed about for years. The lore is deep, the gameplay mechanics are satisfying, and the exploration is unmatched. Bethesda has the ability to patch bugs and add free content moving forward, and I'm looking forward to watching this game grow.

    This isn't Fallout 5. It was never supposed to be. Instead, it's the perfect mixture of Bethesda open-world gameplay and multiplayer elements. It's everything you and your friends talked when you sat around watching each other play Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. It's a completely unique experience.

    It's not like Rust, it's not Fallout 4.5, and it's amazing.

    Shockingly good considering the bad press it was getting at first. The camp mechanic is a lot of fun, and it's very easy to play along side friends. I had some major stability issues at first, but It turns out it was on my end. older computers cannot run it terribly well.

    Fallout 76 stays true to the classic Fallout franchise with memorable world-crafting, story telling, enemies and gameplay - while adding in one of the most requested features for a Bethesda game ever - Multiplayer!

    If you're a fallout fan and you skip this one based on review bombing and brigading, you're doing yourself a disservice.

    I like it very much, feels really like a Fallout game which you can play with yor frieds. Can't understand all the negative reviews, maybe all these guys have had some very weird expectations and have not spend any time to get well informed.

    It's fallout at it's core. I really enjoy the combo of the surreal landscape and being able to help new fallout players. No issues on my end after 24 combined hours of gameplay. Beta and launch both have ran smooth. Looking forward to exploring and watching West Virginia grow!

    The Good:
    1) Insanely fun with friends.
    2) If you enjoyed the mechanics of Fallout 4, you should love this (and I didn't play it, but I know they're largely similar)
    3) Lots to do. The lack of human NPCs is not a big deal. There are still NPCs, there are still a ton of quests and other things to do.
    4) While griefing will certainly be possible, their attempts to mitigate it are pretty good. They seem to have looked at other games griefing issues, and tried to implement similar solutions.

    I see people complaining about things like getting hungry and thirsty. My response is, they told you that would be the case. Now yes I think the rates should be slowed. But you can also get perk cards to help with that. Ultimately staying hydrated and fed is not that hard. But if you didn't want the survival aspect, you shouldn't have bought the game. It was not a secret.

    For those complaining about lack of ammo, they either completely suck at aiming or aren't looking. I have over a hundred rounds of each type of ammo even though I primarily only use one type. You find plenty. Plus you can craft it.

    For the microtransactions, again, don't buy them then. They don't impact gameplay. And they said they'd be there. I'm totally fine with cosmetic MTXs. Which is all they have. No XP boosts. No loot boxes. The most "gameplay impacting" things they sell are emotes.

    For the complaint about microphones, you can turn it off. Yes it'd be nice if that could be improved. But just turn it off and you're fine. You can also just mute individual players instead of everyone. I personally set it to team. Can't hear anyone I'm not in a team with.

    Complaining that this game is Fallout with multiplayer and you didn't want it, but still bought it (or probably didn't and are just whining about it), is ridiculous. For people like myself, I'm insanely happy the game is out. I wanted to play FO4 but didn't since it didn't have co-op. And I'm not good in games like that where I'm just running around by myself. So now me and my friends are having a blast in it.

    Yeah there are occasional frame rate hitches. But overall last night the game was solid. If you don't like the premise, don't buy it. If you do, you'll have a lot of fun in it.    … Expand

    Not for everyone, but the longer I play, the better it gets. Don't sweat the 0s - it's a fun time, even solo. And looks like it will just get better.

    So... I was a big fan of Fallout 3/NV/4, and when I heard this was online I expected to hate it. Played the BETA and gave it a real chance, knowing that it would be different (and it was). It's a little buggy, but every game I play now is. The server disconnects occasionally, but at least I never lose any progress (hated Destiny for this). The lack of linear story is a change, but aSo... I was a big fan of Fallout 3/NV/4, and when I heard this was online I expected to hate it. Played the BETA and gave it a real chance, knowing that it would be different (and it was). It's a little buggy, but every game I play now is. The server disconnects occasionally, but at least I never lose any progress (hated Destiny for this). The lack of linear story is a change, but a welcome one as I feel like I'm not rushed to find my kid or whatever, but I'm more immersed in seeing the aftermath of the war and the years that followed. This is not a game for people that enjoy PVP, or many of the traditional aspects of online play. This is a version of Fallout that tells a new story of what happened before, and if you allow yourself to be immersed in the holotapes, notes, journals, etc. it's quite a good one. If you rush through to find "end-game" stuff, you're missing the point. Near the last day of the Beta, I was walking down the street, listening to the Classical station with my sniper rifle, and I knew I was hooked (and have played every day since with no regrets). Playing with a friend is even better when we have semi-permanent camps near each other and can explore & chat together. Encountering strangers has been a positive experience, one that normally causes me to dislike online games, but I expect the bad reviews are keeping those types away and leaving only the hardcore fans to enjoy the peace & quiet together. If you ever played a previous Fallout, and wished you could just play that game forever, with friends, and (presumably) an endless stream of content for years to come, this is that game. I understand why people are hating on it... it's not for everyone... but it's worth a try and for some of us it is really good.… Expand

    Please do not jump on the hate train for this game, because most of the negative reviews aren't giving it a proper chance. The only real issue with the game is that it is a bit buggy (no worse than alot of multiplayer games though.) I have encountered nothing game breaking. The environmental story telling and lore via terminals is pretty too notch as well.     Bashing Fallout 76 is a meme. The only valid criticism I see is that the quests are not up to standard, which leads to this game feeling more like an mmorpg than anything, but that isn't a bad thing...

    I have played every fallout that has come out. I love 76. Its something new. I am so tired of everyone putting it down. Yes, there are bugs. But what game doesnt after a short release time. Bethesda will take care of all the problems in time. So to those who are totally trashing it. Get over yourselves.

    Now for the actual review.
    You basically get to play 2 different mode in this game, solo & co-op. I personally enjoy both for different reasons. Solo, i get to listen to all the story. Yes there are stories. The quests are, in my opinion, even better than Fallout 4. I played the full beta and at the release, I dropped 16 straight hours (thanks to the GF for grabbing me food) and didn't even feel like I finished the story I wanted to. I haven't had engaging stories like this from a video game in a long time that kept me immersed for 16 hours. I'm at work now and I can't wait to get back and find out what happened in the story.

    Now co-op is a whole different story. It opens you to goofing off with your friends. You run face first into any challenge and start doing events rather than quests. You start capturing workbench and territories and join group PVP events such as "civil war reenactment" or play who can craft the better base. When your friend is downed by a horde of melee supermutants and you lob a grenade in the middle because you're an **** Hilarity ensues.

    Also, I've sank probably over 40 hours into this game now if we're including the BETA and I didn't encounter a single game breaking bug. I was disconnected once (about 12AM EST at launch) and was able to instantly rejoin, and a few t-pose scorch. If that's unplayable to you, then idk. Good luck finding a game without bugs. Even my horse in RDR2 was running halfway into the ground at one point.    … Expand

    Awesome game. Love the exploration. Love the storytelling. Love the character building. Love the world. Looking forward to playing this until Starfield or TES V comes out.

    Had my doubts, but the first time I jumped in, after wandering around a while, ran into another player who teamed up with me and we spent hours adventuring together. Some of the best fun I've had in any Fallout game. I'm sold.

    You are wrong, this is not the game for you just for not meeting your expectations. Bugs.. sure... all the games still have the same issues. They have made some mistakes locking down the FPS lock due exploits, you make mistakes and so does Bethesda. I really enjoy this game and the +30    people are expecting a new fallout 5 with 7000 new NPC´s and 100.000 gazillion new dialogs.

    It's my favorite crafting game, my favorite survival game, a good story with some of the best voice acting I've ever heard, wrapped up in Fallout 4's gameplay. I have encountered only one bug, and it's already fixed. I have no complaints.

    Whats new or back;
    Gun condition and ammo crafting, you cannot sell or dismantle ammo you already have which is a shame but the low cost of making ammo makes is not to bad, just be careful not to make too much as ammo has weight and you have at this time a limit to your stash size (more on this later)

    SPECIAL, now you start at 1 for each stat and grow as you play and level up, every time you level until level 50 you get 1 new SPECIAL attribute to assign as you see fit.

    PERK CARS, this new system is somewhat confusing until you start messing with it and it becomes quite clear and easy, Want to play a snipper today and a melee brawler tomorrow? you can now do that.

    Semi-Survival, You need to stay fed and hydrated, but nowhere near as hardcore as Fallout 4 Survival, you can still get sick and need to cure which add to the survival aspect of the game,

    Inventory
    I assume they did these changes for server stability but I honestly am just guessing.
    The Bad: You have a player inventory which is the same as you are used to, but now you have a limited stash, currently this stash amount is 400lb which at first doesn't look like enough, and you are probably right, but they are perk cards to combat this to make it less a pain (the pain is still there), some decrease your junk wright down 90%, some do the same for your guns/armor/meds.
    During the BETA I never kept my stash over 200lb selling stuff to vendors when I went over or with items I had an excess of.
    The Good: your stash is linked to chest all over the map, this is not the most realistic but it is very convenient when needed.

    Base Building: you can build your base almost anywhere albeit not to close to someone else or to close to a town, as you level up your base size grows and you can add more to it every time.

    Plans: Now you dont come out of the vault just knowing have to build a pipe pistol, you need to find the plans to build it, same goes for gun and armor mods, instead you can either find the plans to it or you learn them over time by dismantling guns and armor.

    I am glad there is finally a Fallout game I can play with a friend and the changes they made are all positive in my book except maybe the limited stash size.
    My personal review just had a few exerpts of the game, all in all, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone who enjoyed Fallout 4    … Expand

    People like to hate on this game because Bethesda wanted to try something different. Is it the best narrative story? No. But it is an amazing game for what a multiplayer fallout could be.

Many times, their grim stories will evenFor an online survival MMO, there's nothing else like it on the market. Every single location my buds and I have visited so far has had an interesting story to tell. Emotional holo-tapes (some several minutes long), notes, hand-written journals, terminal logs, and sentient robots all shed light on what life was like for past, pre-war inhabitants. Many times, their grim stories will even kick off a variety of small quests. It's a far cry from other survival games like Rust, Conan Exiles, DayZ, and Ark Survival that don't even HAVE quests, let alone much backstory. From what I've seen of the survival genre, the sole fact that FO76 is NOT Early Access already has me hooked.

    Overall, aside from a few graphical bugs I've encountered, I've had a ton of fun surviving, exploring, fighting different enemies, building my own mini-base, and uncovering crazy secrets on the map. Even though it's not your traditional single-player Fallout RPG, the amount of content and systems at play in FO76 is staggering for an online survival MMO and can keep you and your friends occupied for weeks. If you're into PvE and Roleplay the West Virginia hills are vast and filled with NPC monsters for hunting and looting. If you're into PvP, there are always good bounties waiting on Hunter/Hunted Station radio.

    Some sage advice from an old arcade player, if you're ever not sure whether a modern game is worth it's full price, rate it at $1 an hour. If you can get 60 hours of game-play from a $60 retail game, it's well worth it in my old-school, coin-operated book.    … Expand

And whilst Bethesda have some work to do ironing out the player base grievances, Bethesda's foray into the survivalist MMO genre is, for me and my friends not as bad as many make it out to be.

    What it gets right:    Having jumped right into F76 like I have with the whole franchise, F76 stands up there with player outrage like its distant cousin Fallout Tactics - Brotherhood of Steel. And whilst Bethesda have some work to do ironing out the player base grievances, Bethesda's foray into the survivalist MMO genre is, for me and my friends not as bad as many make it out to be.

    What it gets right:
    Playing with friends is easy - real easy. Team up, hunt down and kill them Scorch beasts or wanted players.
    Base building is just as enjoyable as it was in F4 (yes that had some frustrating placement issues too)
    Large open world with different and great looking biomes. Some of the places look beautiful and atmospheric.
    Crafting. Like all Fallout games collect, collect and collect and then hope you have Adhesive - (not for the short attention span folk, that's for sure). Its a junk/equipment management balance, but when has a Fallout game not been?
    PERKS. A great little system. swap cards in and out and even with boost friends with your cards.
    Holo Tapes. If you actually listen to the tapes there is some great stuff to be heard.

    Whats in the middle?
    Combat, not much has changed since F3. V.A.T.S now requires some skill, yes I said it. Real-time action V.A.T.S control can be honed to a deadly art with the right PERKS, but combat is still sluggish and movement "gluidy".
    Quests - The dailies are fun and there are many to choose from. Random quests will also pop up after discovering a location or encountering a creature. But basically they have gone bare minimum here, basic fetch/kill quests when it boils down to it.

    What it gets wrong:
    Servers - The world you are in is not that persistent, you cant have rivalries unless you make them your friends and then that would mute the point of rivalries. You get disconnected and that daily or pop up quest you were on is gone.
    No Human NPCs - I think that was a mistake.
    Main quest is weak and not very rewarding thus far.

    F76 tries to please both sides of the gamer fence - and that lets F76 down. A full hardcore style like RUST would open the game up to a larger audience, but loose the Fallout playerbase, but the "soft" approach of Bethesda have taken with the MMO survivalist genre makes it little hollow in places. But there is room for improvement, and with regular updates and content F76 will be a game I keep playing.    … Expand

    THIS GAME IS FOR PEOPLE WHO WOULD ENJOY a huge, post-nuclear yet strangely beautiful, colorful open world game, and who want to meander around the landscape, explore, engage in combat with creatures, craft, and climb the stats ladder, without much of a story (more than the request to go here or there to fight creatures or collect water now and then with no time pressure) to tether them to any particular in-game obligations.

    THIS GAME IS NOT FOR PEOPLE WHO DEMAND a significant story or who only enjoy turn-based VATS combat. The story in this game (at least so far as I've played) is about as significant as the story in MYST. In other words, it just exists in order to prompt you to explore. The VATS combat in this game is real-time and not useful most of the time. Though in my last few fights I have used it to great effect. A bunch of those floating butler-style robots went AWOL and decided to try and kill me. If it wasn't for VATS I would have died. So it can be used, mostly in close combat situations, but not when your target is a fair distance away.

    The major flaws of this game are: no NPCs, which has to change and I am sure will change; and 2 in PvP combat you suffer almost no damage. I understand wanting to do away with the threat of being killed every 2 seconds, but PvP combat could do more damage. Why not at least let it do as much damage as a roving mutant rat? There's plenty of them around who attack, so what's the difference?

    With those 2 nipicks out of the way, let me say that though I am a big retro point-and-click adventure fan (Tex Murphy; Broken Sword), I find this game extraordinary addictive, way more than any past Fallout game and way more than Red Dead Redemption 2. It's beautiful and plays very smoothly. Some complain about the guns, but this is an RPG. The guns fire in a way commensurate with your various skills and the specs of the weapon. You can't just rapid fire a weapon when your associated skills are low. Fallout 76 differs from past Fallout games in that, so far, the plot is thin. Mostly it exists as an excuse to get you to meander through the landscape, which is more beautiful than any other Fallout game, and more beautiful than Red Dead 2 (which I compare simply because it is the other game I am playing at the moment; although Red Dead 2 has the best animals and most amazing horses and horse animations I have ever seen), forage, defend yourself from random mutant creatures, craft, occasionally team up with other players, and explore. But that just happens to be exactly what I was looking for.

    I love story-intense games, but I also love this type of game where I am encouraged to explore. Story intense games make me so concerned about following the plot, I don't end up exploring much, and Red Dead Redemption 2 will even end your mission and put you back to a checkpoint if you stray to far from a mission area. Fallout 76 does not do this. I'll play an earlier Fallout game or Red Dead Redemption 2 for my plot and story fix and Fallout 76 for when I just want to explore unfettered, not tied down by any sense of obligation to visit a particular store, talk to a particular NPC, or hunt down a particular outlaw, to move a plot forward. FYI there are no NPCs in Fallout 76, unless you can call attacking zombies and mutant dogs NPCs. All quests are given through holo-tapes, notes, etc. I do not think that was a good decision, and it is the only reason I gave this incredibly addictive game an 8.5 (I rounded up), rather than a 10. I suspect Bethesda will catch wise and add downloadable content for free with NPCs and better quests. But even as is, Fallout 76 for me has been like eating a giant bottomless can of Pringles - after each creature I kill or each area I discover I want just one more, and end up creeping into bed at 2AM next to my wife hoping not to wake her up (so I can claim the next morning that I made it to bed by midnight).    … Expand

    Of course it has bugs, of course it has problems, of course it still have things to improve a lot, but damn, it's fun! It's your usual Fallout experience with a new narrative system and the possibility to do things with friends, and take photos of everything. This game will become a 10/10 in some months, I'm sure, plus, you can find for under 25€ now, go and buy it ;)

    I remember when this game was first announced, people were worried that they'd be getting beat up by every "13" year old kid that decided to buy the game. There is a decent mechanic akin to that of Borderlands where both parties have to attack to initiate PVP, or listen to the same radio station. But now everyone is crying there isn't any PVP, I don't understand.

    But the game itself while not perfect, has promise. If Bethesda constantly supports further development of the game we could eventually see more NPC's more quests given by NPC's, more areas, fixes to all your problems. The game is exactly as it stated it was going to be an Online Fallout and the mechanics reflect it (V.A.T.S is a big one), it never claimed to be Fallout MMO 76.

    It is what it is, but it isn't a zero. I would recommend buying it if you're a fan of fallout, because there is still lore here, and if you're worried about them messing up the lore take the time to learn what happend and what is happening, don't expect a MMO, and don't expect the sun and the moon... especially from a new release from Bethesda.    … Expand

    F76 is addictive as Jet and has an beautiful, gritty old-school RPG vibe to it. With some bug fixes and content updates I'm pretty sure I found my home. There's endless possibilities in this ever-changing Fallout world, so let's hope Bethesda uses it to the fullest!

    Now are there some flaws yes, Server issues on day one were to be expected and I had a few mobs disappear on me before I could loot them. But overall I have had no major game breaking bugs in my play.

    The game feels like two different games and that's not a bad thing. The solo player experience feels like Fo4, you are exploring buildings reading notes. And as this is the closest to the bomb drops we can see almost like a snapshot in time. It's really interesting to explore and discover some of these personal stories.
    When playing in a team things change as you don't have the luxury of exploring every nook and cranny, reading every note (unless your partner is also a completionist) but it adds another aspect to the game which changes it. When solo a herd of rad scorpions is something you might avoid. but in a team you get cocky and run in.

    Base building is back and vastly improved. You can now build wherever you want and it feels much better. I lost hours tweaking my cabin, modifying things building a garden. It's feels like a natural addition in this game vs the pushed mechanic (that i mostly ignored) from Fallout 4.

    the TL-DR: It's like Fallout 4, If you enjoyed that you will enjoy this. IF you didn't it's probably not the game for you. The game doesn't deserve the hate the trolls are tossing at it. 90% of them haven't even played the game.    … Expand

Me and a group of friends have been playing none stop since the beta. I am currently level 28 so I have put in a bit of work.     I don't unterstand this big amount of hate comments... The game isn't that bead and I like it.
    There are some bugs and some glitches, but I have a lot of fun anyway.
    There is a beutiful landscape with a lot of details, many missons, sub-missions and events. I like to discover the map and finding new locations with my allies. Until now I spended a lot of time in this game and i will continue it.

    So far, this game has been a lot of fun. There have been a few minor issues, but seeing as it just launched, I imagine they'll work the kinks out soon. Hopefully the people who decided to review it badly based solely on what they've heard find peace in their lives and maybe even try the game out! They may find that they like it.

    The world is alive?

    While you usually have open city's to explore, now everyone is dead or left, and you can figure out why. There are ''Survivor strory's''. Those are holotapes on dead body's that if you listen too, you can figure out some easter eggs.

    For example, one guy died while being locked up in a locker. After I heard him scream for a few seconds. After that he told the guys the location of his heritage. The guys, who had no interest in the money (There is a story about that too I think) never picked it up so after listing to the holotape a couple of times I found myself a new gun and some caps.

    There are still a lot of stories hidden in terminals, holotapes or speakers and I enjoy them alot.

    I find the world to be quite nice to explore, there are a few easy areas that I'm trying to explore right now, and a few really hard ones that I haven't been able to discover.

    Bugs?
    After playing 10 hours I haven't been able to find any bugs.

    Load times?
    The game loads way faster than skyrim after entering a building and leaving it since it loads the openworld in your RAM.

    Pvp?
    It is possible, but it is hard to kill somebody if he doesn't shoot back since it is kinda ''Dual'' focused. Which I like, the game isn't about killing and greefing other players, but about exploring it. (for me atleast)

    If you really want PVP, it is also possible to get a toggle a pvp event where you're hunted by a player, but you have to hunt another player.

    Interacting with players?
    Since I can only tell you about my interactions, I will.
    I found multiple people I teamed up with, you can see them on the map, and most people are really friendly and love doing quest/hard monsters together.

    In 10 hours I had 1 lvl 5 guy that tried to kill me, which ended in a shootout between both of us.

    Micro transaction?
    There are a few microtransaction (purely cosmetics) that you can buy with points that you get from achievements (like killing 76 ghouls)

    Why I like it?
    I love roaming around, exploring new places and finding exotic weapons and new plans to build a nicer place for my own.

    Why I wrote this review?
    I was annoyed by the fact that after Bethesda announced and released a non-pvp focused, online Fallout game that had no NPC's, I found myself reading reviews that said they hated the game because:

    It was online
    It had barely any pvp
    It had no NPC's

    TLDR: The game is what they told us, and I like it! It isn't for everybody, but if you want to buy it, go check out some YouTuber that isn't biased from the start, or log onto twitch and see if anybody is streaming it. Go look for yourself :)    … Expand

    During the beta, we all saw our fair share of bugs and glitches and some of these are still present in the "finished" product, But The did drop a 50 gig update into the game before the game went live on the 14th November.
    Now let's talk about the game... If you have played Fallout 4 this game will be right up your street very much the same type of gameplay minus an immersive storyline but there is still a story of sorts which has you galavanting over the state of West Virginia,
    The gameplay and graphics are very nice as they were on fallout 4 just with a few extra bits of detail slung in to give it a bit of depth,
    The camp mode is nice but there is already talks that this will be played within the near future and aside the lack of NPC's the game still flows.
    It is a SPIN-OFF and I must state this again as its not a follow on from the original series, the game is an experiment by Bethesda not to be designed as a cash cow but to be designed as another potential idea they can play with not just for fallout but for maybe an elder scrolls title at some point as well.
    While playing the actual game as someone who reviews games with no financial backing or sponsorship which means I had to buy this game myself. I don't find myself disappointed more curious to find out what their actually gonna do with this idea and how it expands.
    Like most of you I was apprehensive at the start but the more I played and the more I read into it minus the crapload of hate that was being turned out by everyone with a youtube channel I found that the game was set to be something I may actually enjoy,
    All in all the game is what it is its a free for all "softcore survival" game with a sandbox element where u play as whatever you want to play as. the variety of enemies and "zones" in this game give it a bit more of a deep feel to where they went in the game and like iv said genuinely excited to see where this goes..
    This game isn't for everyone so if you don't like games like Ark or Conan you probably won't like this but for all Fallout fans who enjoy roaming around the land with no direction at the end of the game that's what this is like. Its like when u finished fallout 4 and u just kept exploring... its just fallout 76 that's the whole game.
    So love it or hate it fallout 76 has changed the minds of many but again it's not for everyone...

    I haven't even played the Gold version yet, but that doesn't seem to stop other reviewers who tried the BETA or saw videos and other reviews are bombing the scores. I have played the BETA for a few hours and was moderately impressed. I'll update this review when I actually play Gold.

    First off this is much more of an online Survival/ Sandbox/RPG than an MMO. For me that is a good thing. There is a limited number of people in a world at anytime. I like that I can join my friends worlds and play together, and I love that you can fast travel to your teammates camps for free which will definitely come in handy later in the game. People have complained about people running and jumping and blocking doorways, I personally have not had this issue even once.

    I have not had any bugs so far, and I have only lagged twice. I am playing on a PS4 pro though so I can't speak for other consoles.

    At first the stash limit was upsetting for me, until I read up on it and learned that I was really just doing it wrong. Scrap your junk first and space is no longer an issue. I mean sure I can't store more than a few weapons and armor but it is much more worth it to scrap them as you have a high chance of learning a MOD for that weapon (considering the steep price for plans in this game it is extremely valuable).

    The C.A.M.P. building is fun for me. I've built a nice two story shack, have all my crafting, power, and a decent amount of defence. It does mildly suck that I don't have everything unlocked from the get go, but that is kind of the point of the game. My favorite part of Fallout 4 was building up my settlements, and I'd have an insanely advanced settlement before level 10 which honestly didn't make sense. Part of me enjoys that I have to put more effort into it for 76.

    I enjoy the survival aspect of the game, I knew it was going to be there going in so it wasn't a surprise for me. I craft up food and/or water when I need to but I actually find a decent amount of food just from looting, and prewar food doesn't decay like food you make.. Really making disease free water is more time consuming but I know that I will get plans for a water purifier later on and that won't be much of an issue anymore.

    Haven't seen a nuke yet, and the nukes work differently than you'd expect from what I read so I'm not worried about that. No one has tried to grief me in any way shape or form. I'm aware it may become more of a thing later on but they did add a lot of things to make it entirely unbeneficial to PK. They also say they are planning on making private worlds a thing early on so I'm excited for that.

    The leveling of enemies is actually pretty good. I have not ran in to anything more than 5 levels above me (except for one scary legendary encounter which I just hid in my shack during) but I have been doing my quests and sticking to the starting area, like any survival game if you explore too far ahead too fast you'd expect to get destroyed. I've died twice and you drop a SMALL amount of junk from your inventory. It really doesn't affect anything though as junk is readily available everywhere. You don't lose any caps so that is good.

    There is much more of a variety of enemies and wildlife than the last game, and this is exciting for me. I've already seen many new creatures and I haven't even fully explored the forest area yet.

    On to things I don't like, yeah unless you wanna read text and listen to holotapes the story is not going to exist. However, there are some interesting robot dialogs as well as the hilarious traveling super mutant merchant you may happen upon. I had a robot vendor tell me there is nothing better than a woman in uniform (which my character is wearing). So while the story is lacking there are still some fun things you can find if you keep your eyes and ears open.

    The proportion of caps earned to cost of buying things is extremely high. Any weapon only sells for MAYBE 5 caps early on usually 2, where plans to build and mod new things are anywhere from 100-500 caps. Which is why I mentioned earlier scrap, scrap, scrap. I don't use the drugs in th game so I sell all my extra aid that isn't food, water, radaway or stimpacks. I also am beginning to make a pretty penny by bulking up my surplus of some items like steel scraps and selling them (you can only sell in bulk). I'm guessing that player trading will be a bigger source of income for me eventually.

    There isn't enough armor drops (yet). I hope it will increase. This means I have a ton of available weapon mods but few for armor.

    As far as graphics I am neutral. It's the same as fall out 4 with a better environment.

    All in all I have a lot of hope for this game. I was expecting it to be a cross between fallout 4 and an open minecraft world (I love minecraft) and honestly that's exactly what it has been so far. Wer Solospiele liebt sollte hier nicht zugreifen aber wer mit freunden gerne zockt ist hier genau richtig.

    If you like the fallout universe and don't hate survival games, this is a great game.
    The world is more colorful than ever with new enemies, never seen before. The trash collecting side of fallout has never felt more fitting and useful as in this game. I enjoy combat,crafting and looting a lot more than in any other survival game.    This is not a main-series Fallout but a spin-off.
    If you like the fallout universe and don't hate survival games, this is a great game.

    Some more information to correct the misinformation out there:
    "no plot" - The game has no visible human NPC but there are plenty of stories. quest (including a main quest) factions and events. The story of points of interest is often told through envirounmental design which I enjoy a lot, you can see they put a lot of effort into that. There are also robot npc to talk to and a lot of flavor notes and holo tapes.

    "Bad graphics" - IMO the game has better aesthetics than fallout 4, the world is more colorful than ever.

    "bad microtransactions" - you can get visual only clothes and paints and objects for your camp, no gameplay benefits at all.

    Now, I would have prefered New Vegas 2 as much as the next guy, but you cannot expect that this game took away from that. Bethesda has multiple teams and is very much able to work on several projects at once.    … Expand

    No its not Fallout 5, but it wasn't sold as Fallout 5. I've enjoyed playing it as a Fallout fan and as a Single Player fan. A few bugs but nothing that won't be fixed. Worth the buy

This is the weakest fallout title yet (except brotherhood) maybe the weakest Bethesda game as well. However this does not make this game bad in itself, i have been playing during every beta window and everyday since release and i have to say that i am having fun, like a lot of fun. The way i play is by taking it slow with one friend just investigating every nook and corner, finding all those world building nuggets of gold that Bethesda makes in their games which are present in Fallout 76. Or i am playing with a group of friends, just smashing trough the world and being silly. Overall the experience has been great and ive already put down enough hours into this game to validate a purchase, however there is a quite a few bugs and features that are less then pleasing in their current state but this is supposed to be a "game as a service" game so i am looking forward to future updates to see what Bethesda does about the issues.… Expand

    The actual world is well detailed and has fantastic quality. I want to commend the digital art team that built this world for their amazing work. Thank you!

    There are new weapons, armor, foods, drugs. This really gives the player a choice on how to play. The items and armor have a condition system similar to Fallout 3. You can repair armor with the scrap you find in the world.

    Base building is limited. You get a small area you can call your own. Using materials you find to create a little piece of home to call your own. The system is very similar to the Fallout 4 system except you need to find schematics for many of the buildable objects. Your base can be relocated for a fee payable in caps. Sleeping in a bed does not change time but can give you a rest bonus.

    There are random world events that can trigger near you that give you a reward upon completion. Some of these event can be challenging and you will welcome help from nearby players.

    Realism. This game has a forced mandatory hunger and hydration bar that tells you if you need to eat or drink water. This added feature makes living in the wild feel more realistic. Food cures your hunger and can give you a nice bonus stat. Same with water and other beverages.

    The in game music for this title is better than all the other Fallout games, in my opinion. It flows well and changes based on where you are.

    This game does not have object interaction. no dragging corpses out of the way, no picking up items. Corpses also despawn fairly quickly and you can be caught off guard by respawning enemies previously killed by another player.

    Overall I am very pleased about this game.

    The biggest thing bethesda did wrong here is simply the game was not ready for release. That being said I still find myself enjoying the things this game did right. I hated it at first but then it really grew on me. Its a very ambitious game and remember this is new territory for them so maybe just chill with all the hate and look at it as a stepping stone to something truly great. I really enjoy multiplayer, max grinding, survival horror and fallout in general so i think this game is fantastic the best of both worlds, i would highly recommend playing it if your into that sorta game.. however if you like single player with a captivating story i would pass on this one.     Might be the quintessential Fallout experience. You exit the vault to a great feeling of emptiness, accompanied by a feeling of fear and genuine suspicion of every person you run into. The world is huge and gorgeous. There is plenty of story and lore here, don't let any one fool you. This is not Fallout 5, but if you love Fallout you'll love Fallout 76.

NPCs from previous Fallout games were really well done and helped with immersion to a certain extent but having such a big map populated just with AI is dull for a 2018 game, especially Fallout. With Fallout 76, the story is scattered around the map for players to piece together, just like a puzzle. I think this sort of challenge is great but it certainly isn't as appealing to everyone that played previous Fallout games, especially Fallout 4. I believe that one of the most important aspects of this game is that the current concept caters mostly to hardcore fans due to the amount of planning, strategy and patience one must have in order to succeed.
    The online world of Fallout has a huge amount of potential for diversification, which I am really looking forward to.
    The Fallout 76 in game community is amazing and I can genuinely say that I've never seen before people that are so helpful even though they don't have anything to gain. Sure, there are a few griefers but that is to be expected from an online game with such a big fan base.
    In terms of gameplay I must say that the graphics have definitely improved since Fallout 4 but there are quite a few glitches and bugs which I hope will be fixed in the future. Sometimes there are also performance issues such as freezes and crashes but they don't happen as often as they did during B.E.T.A.
    Overall I can say that I love the new approach Bethesda has taken with Fallout and even though it might take a little while for everything to be the way the devs want to, I'm sure the journey ahead is going to be epic. Kudos Bethesda!    … Expand

    I also love the CAMP system; I enjoyed the settlement building in FO4 as well. I hope they will work on the mechanics of the CAMP system though, as it's really difficult to relocate a blueprint unless you have a minimal 1st floor foundation.

    All in all, I love this game so far and am eager to play more. Sure, there are a few bugs I've experienced, but nothing big. Looking forward to seeing how this online community evolves. Highly recommend.    … Expand

    So far, Fallout games have been about exploration, marked and unmarked locations to discover and explore, a story to experience as you go through the world, side quests that usually have some humor or a bit of information about the larger world to add to our understanding of the setting. Well, 76 does have all of these things. 76 manages to do a lot of these things that we expect from a Fallout title. The thing it does not do, that (most) of the previous titles did have, is player choice in the narrative, and NPC interactions.

    The difference between this and previous games is that all of the NPC's we would normally talk with, died shortly before the player shows up. We find the remains of battles and we find their bodies and such. The plot is discovering why and how, so we won't go into that, but the point is that the normal NPC interaction that people are used to in these games is missing. We do most of the lore discovery, and most of the storytelling, is done through notes and terminals and holotape recordings. Which is fine for learning about the world, and it's adequate for telling us information, and there have already been a few holotapes that were dramatic and conveyed emotion to me, but I understand the criticism that many people have. It's adequate for conveying storytelling, but it's not that interaction that people are used to. They want to talk to people. It's a bit unfortunate that a lot of the other reviews are very hard on the game and this seems to be the most common reason. Bethesda said from the start that they want to roll with the idea that every human you come across is another actual human player. This was the game's pitch, it's what made it unique. Someone at the company had this idea and they rolled with it. This was clear from the start, so a lot of these reviews that seem to be disappointed by the lack of NPC's is a bit perplexing.

    It's also worth noting, on the lack of NPC issue, that there is more voice acting and recorded dialogue for this game than every other game combined. Look it up on google, it's a fact. So it's not that there just isn't any voice acting or things to learn from people. It's just that the people are all dead, and leaving their diaries for the player to discover. It's not actually all that much different than an NPC going on a longwinded story of his recent events. One of the criticisms of New Vegas is that NPC's will occasionally stand there and go on and on spilling information to the player. It's not that different in cases like this.

    The positive aspects about the game are that it has many new enemy types, a map 4 times larger than 4's map, more voice acted recorded dialogue than the previous games, and the sidequests are just as involved as the previous games. The storytelling is done through discovery, so the player is more like an investigator after the fact, rather than in the middle of events, but the tone this sets up is unique and works.

    It's missing a couple things though, so I wish I could give it an 8.5 instead of 9. The PC version should allow for DoF adjusting, widescreen support, Push To Talk, rendering distance options, and other quality-of-life options that PC players are used to that scale with the strength of their machine, and aren't uniform like on consoles.

    Overall, the game offers many of the things we expect from Bethesda's Fallouts. Marked and unmarked locations to explore, some interesting quests, discovering lore about the setting, etc. It ends up being a very different experience than the other Fallouts, because you are an investigator after the events, but this is just a different tone of game. I've been enjoying it so far, and I understand that it's a very different tone than most other Fallout games. I think at the end of the day, whether you like it or not mostly hinges on whether or not you mind that you're coming by after the events and discovering what happened or if you want to be in the middle of them. This tone is a lot different and might not be for everyone.    … Expand

    I have really enjoyed the game. I have enjoyed some the quests outside of the starting area. The building is decent, pvp a bit wonky but fun. Playing with friends is why this game gets a 10 for me. There are issues, however, I expect them to be fixed.

    The same experience I know and love from Fallout 4 but with pals. This is way more of a Co-op. PVE experience, rather than a multiplayer PVP.

    There are some issues with NPC’s only being Robots that you can’t really interact with, they really talk at you.
    But, personally I find that the story and writing in this game is as good as ever. I find myself massively invested in this games story.

Its got better graphics than all the others and its the best survival game on the market. If they didn't ever change anything, we would still be playing this game in 2D. You can discover stories of people trying to survive this NEW world, a church congregation that was robbed and murdered by the preacher, as well a kid who is convinced that the bombs fell because he had been "Bad" and his dad told him if he does bad things, bad things will happen.

    Again there are good stories you just have to find them.

    There are constant group events that spawn for everyone in the area to join in on. Out of the 3 events I have done they were all VERY different, multistaged, and very fun.

    And just when I think I have the game figured out, I head toward a hill where a cargo drop is located, as I loot the box a GIANT green radiated cloud comes up from out of no where and covers the area.... Lets just say that things are bigger and scarier in Fallout 76.

    A Note to everyone who gave this game a 0 or 1... even if you HATE the game a 0 or 1 just means that you are a butthurt troll. There are plenty of BAD games out there 100x worst than this game and they still are 2s and 3s... If you give this game a 0-1 your review is irrelevant in my opinion... maybe need to put a few more hours into Fortnite!

    Does this game have bugs? Yes... not as many as the fallout 4 release.
    Is there Lag? Yes... game will be continually optimised like EVERY OTHER online game.
    Is there a good story? Yes... you have to be willing to look for it.

    It's not Fallout 5, it's a different kind of game as announced with some stuff that reminds of the single player version. There is a world to explore and you have to find out why all the people have gone. And there is a lot to explore. It's true I missed NPCs at the beginning but now some sort of Fallout-feeling caught me.     the game is not a normal fallout game and that is totally fine with me. previous fallout games didn't have bad stories but i never much really cared about the story it was just a means to explore the wasteland, in this game the quests provide that same thing for me

    Is this like other Fallout Games? No. Is it good? Yes. Its worth the money as it will offer countless hours of enjoyment to me and to others who do actually enjoy the world of Fallout. The idea that I can run around a wasteland with friends is fun, and its an easy world to slip into. Some things need to be smoothed out but they shouldn't deter people from trying it out for themselves instead of listening to the endless barrage of hate coming from people who barely even gave this game a shot before poo pooing all over it.    … Expand

    I've spent 24 hours playing between the BETA and at launch. Fallout 76 is a great design with some questionable implementation. As of right now, it kind of works. There are still bugs that cause slowdowns and crashes, mainly in the C.A.M.P. building. The biggest downfall is the ancient engine that is being remade to produce these games.     This is honestly one of the best games i have ever played. You can explore so much and run into other players who you will quickly become friends with. I love listening to all the holotapes you come across as you walk through Wv. I will say if you are anti social and need NPCs to spoon feed you lore and if you can't actually roll play in a role playing game this is not for you.     Game-play is very similar to fallout 4, with equipment condition from fallout 3, then toss in a hunger and thirst meter. There is plenty to explore and it is quite fun with a group.

    This game is definitely designed for those that like to explore and survive or those interested in gaming with friends. I do miss the dialog's from previous fallout games, but it still has the right feel.

    this game may have been buggy to start but the experience is so far as good as fallout 4. all the same features are here. can't wait to see what is to come. it's not as easy as the old games being it is online and constant need to work to survive. it's more realistic as a post apocalyptic survival game.

    This gaem is best around, neverer gona keep me down! WOrld is open with manmy many tres to gaze at while walking. Isoulation makes feel like reall dispotian future and helps much with immersion. Is easy the best FO game to be realased and is hard to be beat. Do reccomend to everyone.

    It has been a ton of fun. I have been exploring and finding something new around every corner. The PVP is a trip, just blasting peeps for fun. I even like the base building. :)

    The strong points in my opinion: - huge    It is a Fallout game, in case you wonder. Huge post-apocalyptic world filled with hundreds of locations, each one telling its story in subtle details. Tens of hours of exploring, beautiful soundtrack and audio (the best of all Fallouts in my humble opinion), and option to play with your friends together - which you can, but do not have to, use.

    The strong points in my opinion:
    - huge world filled with lore, with typical Bethesda attention to detail
    - the locations are no longer linear, expect underground cavern systems, even buildings are often rich
    - the music and sound, the best in the series (great with headphones)
    - the RPG character building with selectable perks, that can be reconfigured at any time, so you can adapt your character to your momentary style of play

    Neutral:
    - multiplayer, coop and PVP. I am a solo player mostly, so for me - it works, has some quirks.
    - the graphics engine - looks like upgraded Fallout 4 one, works for me
    - home building system - again similar to Fallout 4, but with limited number of objects that can be placed (too low for me)
    - VATS - now does not slow time, but I use it often, With proper perks it works great.

    Bad:
    - bugs, but again, its typical of Bethesda, they will get it fixed. Nothing major though, like 1 of 50 quests is broken, stuck in UI or game freezes like once in 4 hours, that sort of things
    - inventory limits - forget unlimited storage in your base at it was if Fallout 4, and the limit is too small for me. Bethesda promised to increase it, but how and when is unknown.
    - the Atom shop (microtransactions) is overpriced - its completely optional and for visual things only, and you can earn the microcurrency ingame (slowly), but the price is like 15 bucks for a Vault Tec power armor paint job??? Come on...

    For the sake of fairness - I play the game mostly solo, and I enjoy the tranquil exploration with occasional fights, I like to hoard materials and build my base, craft my weapons and armor. There are complains about missing NPCs, but hey, its post-apocalyptic world, every human is dead (except for players, that got out of Vault 76), and the events that led to this - why the world is like it is - are for everyone to discover in the game story and locations.

    Overall - I love the game, and I have a very high respect for all the people, who put it together, with love. It has its quirks, but for game this huge? I can tolerate that and I believe Bethesda will get it gradually sorted.    … Expand

    This is an EPIC ADVENTURE , alone or with your friends, doesn´t matter what you are doing, you can have lots of fun, the game needs some fixes and there´s nothing that cant be fixed in the future, so, ive been playing arround 30 hrs since the launch of the game, I didn´t had the oportunity to play the beta, but, this is a good result of the fallout online experience.

    BUT... They realy made an huge world with several locations that are diffrent... the lag on npcs is nicely reworked with the Audiotapes and Consoles. Last Patch brought the needed Performance fix... You can play    First 20 hours will shock every Fallout Fan.... They nerfed nealry everything ... No unlimited space in your cargo.     I really enjoy playing Fallout 76 with my Friends.
    I´ll have to admit that there are a lot of bugs, but the Game is still enjoyable in my Eyes.
    Get yourself some Friends, and start Exploring! :)

    So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

    Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

    Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
