    Fallout 76 departs from the series' single-player RPG roots in favor of online multiplayer. An idea I was initially onboard with as one thing that repeatedly entered my mind when playing Fallout 4 was how much fun it would have been to scour the wasteland with some friends by my side. Unfortunately a rough launch plagued by    War. War never changes. Expect for when it does, apparently...

    Fallout 76 departs from the series' single-player RPG roots in favor of online multiplayer. An idea I was initially onboard with as one thing that repeatedly entered my mind when playing Fallout 4 was how much fun it would have been to scour the wasteland with some friends by my side. Unfortunately a rough launch plagued by technical issues, server disconnections, exploits, controversy, and questionable design decisions (many of which are still around to this day) did a lot to sour my enjoyment of the game. Although, not enough to keep me from putting 191 hours into it.

    By far the most frustrating aspect of 76's gameplay is its far too restrictive crafting, gathering, and inventory management loop. Killing monsters, exploring the beautiful world of Appalachia, and completing quests can be a blast for a lot of the same reasons as the main entries. Not even a change to V.A.T.S (which now acts as a real-time lock-on system) can take away from the fact that the core action of the Bethesda Fallout series is a lot of fun. However, this enjoyment is hindered by having to almost constantly manage how much you're carrying both on your person and in your base's stash to ensure that you aren't over-encumbered while maintaining enough scrap parts to constantly repair your rapidly degrading gear. Even with several updates to help alleviate some of this frustration I still find myself having to make sacrifices that I'd rather not have to just to ensure that I can actually keep playing comfortably.

    Right now the game's biggest deficiency is a lack of end-game content. After completing the game's solid, but uninterestingly told main quest your only real option is to launch nukes, fight the Scorchbeast Queen, and farm legendaries for better loot. Essentially the game becomes even more of a repetitive grind just with no real goal in sight anymore other than collecting more stuff. To make matters worse these are also rather tedious tasks. The amount of hoops you have to jump through to even launch a nuke make doing so a nightmare and the Queen battle itself just exemplifies how awful it is to fight flying enemies in this game. They're unappealing options that I found did little to incentivize me to return after hitting level 100 and collecting every trophy. Although, plenty of other people have not had that problem. I've seen a lot of players level 200 and up.

    So if 76 has all these issues (and more), then why have I and so many others kept returning for hours on end? For me it's the world. Appalachia is by far the best map in any Fallout game to date and one of the best in any open-world game currently on the market. It's comprised of several distinctive regions allowing for a great deal of diversity in the kind of locales you'll visit. Bethesda has filled every inch with secrets and stories to uncover. The lack of NPCs is questionable for a variety of reasons, but it allows the environmental storytelling to shine like never before. Plus it really sells the feelings of isolation and danger in trying to carve out a place for yourself in a world where life has moved on. Something that, for me, makes all the quests and activities a little more interesting.

    Fallout 76 is definitely a flawed game. There are still a lot of glitches and cheaters remaining, Bethesda's behind-the-scenes work is often shaky at best, and in an effort to please both longtime Fallout fans as well as the online survival gamers this is clearly trying to appeal to a lot of conflicting systems are in place that make things like PVP seem absolutely pointless. Yet in spite of this there is a certain charm to this. The main draw of player choice may have been removed, but several of the other appealing aspects of Fallouts 3 and 4 are still in place allowing for at least a modicum of entertainment if you're willing to be a little forgiving. No one can blame you if you aren't though. Even a lot of the diehard 76 fans will admit this game needs more work. However, even in the face of all its sins I still found myself playing it long enough to get that platinum trophy, and look forward to seeing what it grows into in the years to come.    … Expand

    Somewhat buggy start, but it has potential to develop into a good game. It's almost like playing an early access game. I look forward to seeing what they add, and what changes they make as the game matures.

    The Fallout series definitely took a step back with this one. Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time and Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas were both great. Why? Because they had interesting characters and I could play the game on my own terms. With Fallout 76, there are no interesting NPCs, just robots. I also can't save and pick up where I was. Combine that with several other annoyances (clunky menus, forced thirst/hunger meters, low carry weight thresholds, difficulty obtaining good weapons/armor early on, etc.) and you have yourself a merely above-average game. I keep coming back and will continue to play it, but man it could have been better. Now, if they can come back with the next game and keep a few of the cool new things (like the card/perk system), but bring back the experience I loved, all will be forgiven.… Expand

Worst parts really are the lock ups and several frame rate drops that spike up and few game breaking bugs such as when you try to complete a quest objective, but no prompt appears at the quest marker leaving you completely unable to advance that story line.
    Still though I'm having fun. in just 3 days of playing I already hit the 24 hour    Yes it's a buggy mess, but I'm still having fun.     Still though I'm having fun. in just 3 days of playing I already hit the 24 hour play mark achievement. I found it fun and frustrating trying to learn the way this game handles item weight, storage space and food and water consumption. Not till I reached lvl 20 did I finally figure out how to balance it so you're not stuck. Does this game deserve a high score? No, but i don't think it deserves to be review bombed by upset Fallout fanboys who didn't get the Fallout 5 with bits of multiplayer they were hoping for.    … Expand

    If your new to fallout (bethesda), it's an okay game. Bethesda games are usually littered with bugs so I wasn't expecting anything different from that.

    If you need a fallout fix that doesn't follow fallout lore, then this is your game. If you want a fallout game that follows the fallout lore, then skip this game.     Fallout 76 when it comes to lore doesn't make any sense especially since this was X number of years after the first explosion. There are no survivors where this could have been done better.

    I haven't come across a 'ghoul' or even a nice one. I've come across what seems to be ferals.

    Lots of dead bodies from settlers and raiders. Some of them look like they have died within the last few weeks as opposed to a few years.

    You'll read the account of survivors but they're all gone. There's this one surviving community which was in an area that was heavily guarded and they *ALL* decide to leave where they would perish. Yay bethesda..

    And only being able to trade items for caps is pretty damn annoying. You would think that would would go back to the barter system. I think Bethesda needs to look up what we used to do historically when there wasn't much cash. It's called BARTER.

    As a survivor type game, it's fine. As a fallout game, it's not.    … Expand

    I'm rating a 7 for a Bethesda game and I'm honestly beside myself because of it. I'm a huge fan of Bethesda and the Fallout series and I have over 1000 hours in Fallout 4 and over 500 in Skyrim. I love the idea of "new fallout" and am thankful that I get to enjoy more areas to explore and that juicy sweet lore to read/listen to. But something feels off. Is it multiplayer? Is it solo with the option of multiplayer? What actually IS this? I want to absolutely love this game but its hard. I'm sad. I actually went back to Fallout 4 to scratch my Fallout itch while still owning Fallout 76. I do have hopes though. Hopes that Bethesda will patch and update and add to this game. One of my quests is totally broken at the moment and I can't progress further. I know it just came out and I should be patient so i rated high. If they improve it in the next couple of months I'll raise my scoring to an 8 or 9. I just don't think this will get a 10 from me. And that makes me incredibly sad.… Expand

    If you want a survival game in the fallout universe this is it.

    It's not a Fallout RPG, it's an online grinding survival game. Yep its got the usual Bethesda random crashes and the non-pro PS4 struggles some times, but if you want to try to survive in the wasteland then the game is pretty good. It does have missions with stories which are pretty well written for what they are. You    If you want a survival game in the fallout universe this is it.

    It does have missions with stories which are pretty well written for what they are. You need to keep in mind that this isn't a Fallout RPG theres no end goal other than your own survival. You get the feeling you are entering the world in the aftermath of humanity trying to survive and failing.

    The lore doesn't really stack up there's a substantial Brotherhood of Steel presence which I think is pushing the boundaries a bit too much for my liking.

    I quite like the new VATS system, feels more realistic than the old one which slows time. Along that line looking at your pipboy doesn't pause the game which takes some getting used to. You have to use the favourites menu or you've got no hope when theres a lot of enemies rushing you. It's a lot about preparing before you head out exploring and taking time to check your inventory and put weapons and health in the correct slots.

    I don't like the weapon level caps on simple things like knifes and shotguns. A strength cap on the heavy weapons or intelligence on some of the energy weapons would have been far better. If you can load a magazine into a pipe pistol I'm sure you can do the same for the 10mm pistol. Also if you can hit someone with a machete you can easily stab them with a combat knife.

    The S.P.E.C.I.A.L system seems fine for a survival game. Doesn't seem to allow you to become a one person army too quickly. In FO4 it was far too easy to become this indestructible being carving a path of destruction through the wasteland.

    C.A.M.P is also functional, I'm not a big base builder in general, stick some benches, water purifiers, a bed and some turrets down and off you go.

    Thirst and hunger mechanics are painful to begin with, get the perks that help food and water last longer it makes these mechanics much less of a pain to deal with.

    Could it have been better, well yes of course, the game is way behind the competition graphically. NPC's as everyone has said would make the game feel more complete.

    Building a camp and attracting other settlers to join up and help with camp tasks would have been great. Seeing if you can build yourself a thriving community is definitely a missed opportunity. Having trade stands which generate items which you could sell to other players for caps, assigning settlers to security to protect the camp, having to find/craft weapons and armour for them, etc. Are all things which could have added a lot of depth to the game. I think this is probably impossible on the non-pro PS4's with the way the game sometimes struggle when there are more than a few enemies rushing you.

    I should also add I've not paid for or ever plan to pay real world money for cosmetic upgrades via the atoms system. I don't see the point of paying for cosmetic upgrades, I have no need to "stand-out" in game.    … Expand

    After a couple of hours of gameplay with friends, I can say this game is actually enjoyable with friends. When you play it by yourself it can get quite boring but if you play with friends it can be a lot of fun. A lot of frame rate issues prevent this game from getting anything more than a 7/10.

    I gave the game a chance, being a huge Fallout fan. It's not perfect, but it certainly isn't deserving of a 0. I had a lot of fun with some friends and genuinely enjoyed myself. I also lost track of time, which is a telltale sign that I'm having fun. There are some frame rate dips and bugs, sure, and I am genuinely concerned about content moving forward. Here is what I feel are the good and bad things about Fallout 76:

    The Good:
    - Immersion without NPC's: Yes we have mic spamming idiots who don't know how to turn off their mic instead of direct interaction with NPC's. But I would argue that we get the same satisfaction from the various holotapes found in the countless nooks and crannies in the game. You can tell the developers really went out of there way to try and capture the charm and magic of these stories and in fact I find myself getting lost in the narrative of their micro stories.

    - Fun Quests: No not every quest is a banger but there are some really interesting and fun quests to play in Fallout 76.

    - Multiplayer Exists: Maybe your a solo player (like me) or someone who can't play a game unless you are playing with your friends. Well now Fallout appeals to both those crowds. As someone who hates player interaction in RPG's I actively avoid players, fallout makes it easy for me to do so with small world servers and limited player interaction. On the other hand if you need to play with others you can walk up to anyone in the wasteland and join a group with them.

    - Gameplay: First things first, Gunplay and aiming is the best it has been in the series. It's smooth and intuitive. In past games it has felt clunky and slow.

    - Crafting: In Fallout 4 crafting was terrible. It was limited and frustrating to put your vision together with the limited tools presented. But Fallout 76 improves all of that with enhanced crafting and schematics. Honestly it feels really good and the C.A.M.P. system is cool where you can build your base anywhere. That's about all I can say about that.

    THE BAD:
    - The Players: I know I said multiplayer was a good thing but this expands on that a little bit... Imagine you are searching a house listening to a compelling story of a scavenger who lost his friend to ghouls when all of a sudden you hear some **** idiot on a mic spamming music because he doesn't realize mics have the ability to be muted.... That's basically it. A simple fix would be to mute people by default or allow players to opt out of voice communication but I don't see that option anywhere. This is the main problem I have with the game and keeps it from being a great game for me.

    - Leveling System: This is different from previous games where you spec out your character from the beginning. Basically in this system you are good and kind of everything eventually. And there are no fun perks that I have seen yet but I'm sure they show up at higher levels.

    - Lack of manual saving: You can't save manually in Fallout 76 this hurts me a bit spiritually since as a Fallout player I'm very careful when going into mines and dangerous areas. Additionally it's hard to know when it saves automatically and i'm constantly in fear of losing the cool **** I got savaging.

    - Not difficult: Playing for 10 hours I would expect to die at least a dozen times. This isn't the case in Fallout 76. It's easy to breeze through enemies who die to one hunting rifle shot or two machete swings. It takes the fear out of exploring the unknown that comes with Fallout.

    Overall I like the game. It's fun, in fact all I'm thinking about right now is how much I want to get back on and find more **** to build my base up with. I see where people are coming from with their complaints but it is not as bad as everyone says. If you love fallout you will like this game. Just be okay with a little bit of change. and go along for the ride.    … Expand

Sure there are no NPCs but the environmental storytelling when playing solo and the fun to be had playing co-op is a good trade-off in my opinion.It's a bit experimental and not as focused on the usually main quest driven story of past fallout titles but it's still a fun game with the same core game loop of looting/exploration mechanics the other Bethesda fallout titles have perfected. Sure there are no NPCs but the environmental storytelling when playing solo and the fun to be had playing co-op is a good trade-off in my opinion.

    There are many negative review citing stability and glitches and in my experience of 15 hours played so far have had no problems. To be honest it is one of the most stable Bethesda games on release ever (which is a huge feat given the conversion from single player to multiplayer on the same game engine).    … Expand

    Ok! Let's be honest about this one. This game doesn't deserve no 0 or 10. I have played about 8 hours so far and i am actually quite satisfied. If i had not read anything about the game before hand like some reviewers here and my belief where that i would get something like Fallout 5, i can understand the disappointment. But this game is NOT Fallout 5 and should thus not be treated asOk! Let's be honest about this one. This game doesn't deserve no 0 or 10. I have played about 8 hours so far and i am actually quite satisfied. If i had not read anything about the game before hand like some reviewers here and my belief where that i would get something like Fallout 5, i can understand the disappointment. But this game is NOT Fallout 5 and should thus not be treated as such. Reading some reviews you get early on that the world feels lifeless without the humanoid NPC's. On that point i can agree but is there NPC's in Rust, The Forest or most of the base-building games out there? No. That is basically what this game is, an Open-World Exploration and Base-building Game. If you have that mindset when you start playing you will NOT be disappointed.

    The world is beautiful and besides building your base(so much fun if you are in to that kind of stuff) there is tons of location and lore to discover. The enemies feels a bit generic and all i ever encounter is lvl 1,3,5,8,10,16 ones. Maybe a better randomizer script here? Apart from that the combat feels very Fallout. I have actually been actively avoiding other players so i can enjoy the world to its fullest. But i also believe that the strength of this game will be enhanced multiplayer. Add a few factions and PvP functions with more players than the twelve that are on your server. Imagine the Enclave and Brotherhood clashing on a 20v20 base-raiding mission. Strongholds that give your faction some benefit if besieged.

    Anyhow, i see a great future for this game but rather than and multiplayer fallout game it should have been marketed as a sandbox game in Fallout setting. Indie studios release these kind of games for half the price but if the but some work in to it and listen to the players it will be worth the price in the end. Just look at No Man's Sky, if all the content you have in the game now had been there at release the response would have been totally different. I will give this game a year to perfect itself just so i don't feel ripped of my 55 Euro.    … Expand

    This game gives an interesting experience. F76 is a cool experiment from my favorite studio. I can not say that this is a masterpiece. But 7 points she deserves for sure. In principle, I liked the presentation of the plot. I also love to explore the world in the games of this studio. There is a lot of research in this game.
    And, no, I put 0/10. I have no friends, I can not play this game    This game gives an interesting experience. F76 is a cool experiment from my favorite studio.     Fallout 76 is a game about player interactions and exploration. The world that has been created for players is exciting and not without stories (despite this game having no Human NPC's). West Virginia is steeped in mystery, something I like to refer to as the Roanoke Syndrome (Look up Roanoke if you need a middle school refresher). The customization options are robust, and the CAMP system has been expanded upon from Fallout 4's Settlement system, though there are still some kinks to work out. The game bogs down at times, mostly when in an area with a lot of other players (events where there are more than 3 players working together tends to kill the frame rate). There are quite a few graphical bugs, but most are texture pop-in's at a distance and aren't really noticed unless you're looking for them. I've encountered one quest killing bug so far where I was stuck in a terminal, unable to even open the main menu to quit the game properly, but my progress was saved so it wasn't a critical failure.

    Overall the game has lived up to my expectations, but there are some bugs and graphical issues that need working out. Don't believe all the scores of zero, because as someone who has actually played the game, I can tell they haven't.    … Expand

    This is Fallout 4 adapted for multiplayer, the perk card system is enjoyable, me and my girlfriend are enjoying the game. No crashes, pretty seamless gameplay, the game looks good (Exactly like FO4), and having other players running around makes the game feel more ALIVE. Lack of NPCs is a silly thing to complain about, and the decision to remove    I have over 2000 hours on Bethesda games.

    I feel like the large number of negative reviewers have either not played enough or do not have someone to go through the game with. The good reviews are fewer only because the people who are enjoying are playing, not signing up to complain.

    With that said, let me start by saying that I love this game, and I'd really put it down for positive instead of mixed, but THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY but some of us genuinely love it! This is not singleplayer Fallout experience and it's not meant to be, but that's what most criticisms are about. If you're really interested, I'd look at both side of the story, not just the negative or positive.

    Firstly, the game feels like Fallout 4. It was designed to be multiplayer Fallout 4. It's not Rust, or Ark, or PUBG. It feels like F4. It's exploration survival. I've played solo and that is the most accurate way I can describe it. However, as it is meant to be multiplayer, there are features added and taken away. It is the nature of the genre. Really if you stopped reading my review by now, the one thing you should take away is that it is meant to be a multiplayer! It's also not meant to be Fallout 5.

    Onto gameplay, combat mostly similar to Fallout 4 with improved melee. Obviously, time stopping/delaying VATS was taken out, but real time VATS has its advantages. If you're getting swarmed and you cant aim quick, use VATS. It's also great with melee.

    Crafting is amazing! There's so many stuff to craft. Crafting was present in F4, but this is the first time I've actively used the crafting system, and had positive experience with it. CAMP system though needs improvement. Not a lot of options atm, but probably less priority than fixing the game.

    The big thing is probably the quest system. There is a narrative. Like F3 and F4 though, the main quests are mediocre but where they really shine is the side quests. Not all quests end up with dead people at the end or robots. This is probably most likely from people who just rushed through the main story. There are so many other things to do! They're not just fetch quests either. The addition of events makes it more fun, but again, this is designed for multiplayer. I've played an event solo. It is difficult but doable. But when I joined other people, it was rewarding to work on something together    … Expand

    - great environmental storytelling
    - you can play coop! (yay?)
    - cool crafting
    - many different weapons and cool equipment
    - i encountered no game-breaking bugs
    - graphics fit it's cause and can be both extremely beautiful and utterly disgusting
    - atomic shop offers only cosmetic stuff (has to be honoured nowadays imo)

    Negative:
    - many empty areas with literally nothing to do. So yeah the world is big, but
    comparatively empty
    - multiplayer (see MULTIPLAYER)
    - base building is still a pain
    - less and less cool blueprints
    - ridiculously small storage capacity. i capped after ~8 hours of playtime and had to dump like 3000 shots of ammo
    - you can't sell ammo ¯_(ツ)_/¯
    - the game is WAY too easy for at least the first 20 levels

    MULTIPLAYER
    Sounds good doesn't work. Why? Everything "fallouty" about this game - like the numerous audiologs, letters and terminals (so basically the whole "Environmental Storytelling"-part) - is designed to be experienced by a single person. You can't listen to 5 mins of audiolog while running around with your comrades shooting supermutants - at least i can't. On my first day of beta i was very disappointed about the lack of immersion and the typical fallout-feeling. But since i started playing it like i would play any other fallout - so like a singleplayer rpg - things changed quite dramatically. So try treating the multiplayer part like you would treat an on-top coop mod for fallout 4. Kind of what the community wanted, isn't it?

    But the question is: Is it fun? Yes. Period. For me it began feeling like i was playing fallout at the point where i actually tried playing it like fallout. As said: Don't play it like you would e.g. Borderlands or Destiny or whatever. Play it like fallout and you'll have a great time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Many of these reviews are reacting to a new idea, and many people are against the change. The core of this game was to try something new and let the community rebuild after the apocalypse. The reviews that state that this game isn't Fallout are correct, some of the lore has been rewritten unfortunately which is my biggest complaint.

    Gameplay:
    The gameplay has a new feel to it with live action VATS, multiplayer, and the C.A.M.P system. Its refreshing as a lot of complaints surround games like Call of Duty are that its the same mundane idea. The players you meet are generally respectful and for the ones who like to take a darker route, there is a punitive system for them. This is not a lazy rebuild of Fallout 4.

    Graphics:
    The graphics haven't changed much since last generation, which people are inexplicably angered by. You take a game and add a multiplayer aspect to it then expect next gen new graphics is unreasonable. This takes more power from the servers and client side systems to run it. Not everyone has the ability to do this, look at how ARK: Survival Evolved works on a standard XBOX One or PS4. This allows more players to get this game, which in return helps the consumer and the producer.

    Bugs:
    While there are definitely bugs within the game, do not believe the reviews that state it is riddled with them. The amount of bugs I have encountered since the day one release has been relatively low, and definitely not game breaking. Since the day one patch, Bethesda showed its community it cared by releasing a patch larger than the game itself to fix the bugs.

    Micro-purchases:
    Yep, there are micro-purchases for Fallout 76, but they don't make you better at the game. These micro-purchases are all purely cosmetic.

    Summary:
    This is not your standard Fallout, its an attempt at a new idea, just like ESO. The game is definitely enjoyable and focuses a lot on team work. It can be challenging by yourself but doesn't let groups of players abuse the lonely ones. Bethesda has pushed to fix bugs and create something new for its players but has been shunned like many of the large game producers. Don't let the day one reviews fool you, they haven't full experienced the game yet, not many have.

    Recommendation:
    Wait a week or two before buying so that a majority of bugs are fixed and they dynamic of the game has been completely experienced so that an educated decision can be made before purchase.    … Expand

    The game in itself it's not bad. It brings back some of the old fallout mechanics, like breakable weapons and armors...wich is something that i have really missed in fallout 4. What i hope is that Bethesda puts more effort in working on more stuff for the game, like, for exemple, Facepunch does with Rust. In conclusion, Fallout 76 is what i was expecting when in 2017, before it was announced, i was imagining what Fallout 4 in multiplayer would look like... so it's worth it? Probably! I have heard there fixing this (hopefully soon) i don’t know how well but we will see I just hope they will fix this game because it’s actually ALOT of fun especially with friends! If your looking to play don’t come looking for your typical fallout experience look at it more as a mod or an addon to fallout 4. But something I wish they would have done is delayed the game and fixed these issues before launch so the game could be more stable, but I give them a bit of a pass because it’s there first online game so they have that but a lot needs to be improved on!!… Expand

    The stash limit definitely needs to be increased. I feel I've spent too much time managing my items to make room for newer, better items rather than engaging in a new quest.

    The world of Fallout 76 is intriguing and makes me want to uncover more about what happens here. It feels like a big murder mystery. The lack of human NPC's is not an issue with me. I would often skip dialogue in previous game just so I could start the quest quickly. Not having countless human inhabitants repeat the same line over and over again, much like a robot, in refreshing. Having actual robots repeating themselves makes more sense to me and helps me immerse myself this narrative.

    The combat is good even with the revamped V.A.T.S. system. I find it almost as useful as it was in previous titles in the series.

    The perks card system is easy to understand and actually makes you think about how you want play by limiting you 50 points total and 15 points total per stat in S.P.E.C.I.A.L. so you will have a weak area of expertise. You will find your role in this world.

    I will admit that the beta should have been released earlier so we wouldn't have these issue currently. All in all it's a solid game that needs to iron out the wrinkles.    … Expand

    Lets be real here, there are far worse games than fallout 76. Fallout 76 does something unique that the fallout franchise has never seen before. I wouldn't pay a full 60$ though, get it on sale.

    No one gonna talk about how great the music is in this game? Sure makes running around finding resources and killing monsters much more enjoyable. I like this game but it does need help. It's not horrible as everyone makes it out to be. I like playing with my buddy.

The game is also very visually pleasing, the environments and enemies are quite varied and it is very fun to explore the world. Overall I can see why someone would hate this game, especially, while playing it solo. But with a group of friends just raveling around and finding things is very very fun and worth the buy I would say.… Expand

    The game is Basically a 60 dollar beta. It has countless bugs, unfit for any full release. On top of the fact there are no NPCs that you have a convo with, about life, trade goods or anything really. just robots and a super mutant who has nothing to say, really takes away from the game.     Then there is the weight limits. In a normal game you could use the console or even find a mod that said, hey, maybe it makes more sense that if you have a Base... you should have a much larger inventory size. But without mods, because multiplayer, we are limited to our very small amount of loot we can keep. I find myself selling most of my aids, just because it weighs me down so much. But then I run into the problem of the robots having a very low cap, and even if you buy something worth 200 caps they only get 20 of that? So you never even get back what you spent. This may have been intentionally, to promote player to player trading, but with such a small weight limit I find most players not even picking up anything they don't need.

    Then to the final issue I have really have with the game... the multiplayer aspect and pvp. I like the idea of playing with a friend, teaming up and doin some quests maybe trading some stuff, but I, as I am sure a lot of fallout players do not have many Friends. I met a few people in game but none I really played with a lot.Maybe a hour here or there. A hey trade you my shotgun shells for your .44 or the likes. But I found myself unable to play at my own pace with random people. So, I spent most of my time solo, which was fine. I am highly enjoying the game... until I need to claim anything. I killed this player 8 times as he just zerged this workstation I was at. 10 minutes and he just kept zerging. Eventually he brought 3 friends to just outnumber me and took the work station. I like the idea of pvp in this game, but I feel like it needs a BIG overhaul. It does not reward a solo player, it only rewards players for massing in bands and playing with friends. One scorchbeast drops the same loot for each player, vs solo killing one drops the same loot for just you. I feel like I have to find people to play with just to enjoy the game, which, for me, makes it less enjoyable.

    The game still has a core, and it is very fun imo. I was not expecting to like it as much as I am, it has consumed every waking hour of my week. But now, as the end game content is farming at work stations, like the ammo depot, I just feel discouraged to even play. I need ammo to kill the scaled mobs for my quests but making it is to costly and fighting for it is to free. I killed this dude 8 times. and he just came back.

    I am mainly writing this because I feel the score it currently has IS way to low for the quality that IS within the game, but it's far from perfect. If anyone actually read this, thank you.    … Expand

The glitches I've had experienced are not big glitches and made me and my friends laugh.     The game isn't as awful as people say, however, there are many bugged quests, and personal issues would be remove or alter the stash limit, deal with the invisible enemies, and let us at least be able to sell power cores or ammo. Other than that.. still feels like a subpar fallout.

Many people seem to be under the impression that this game has completely ruined the "Fallout" series. The game was promised to be very diverse and with Bethesda's supossed "new software" have 16x better graphics than "Fallout 4"... well that was a disapointment. The game does seem to have better graphics throughout many parts of it, but as I scoped deeper into it today I realize that the whole garphics thing is a lie. I looked directly at a rock and noticed the graphics were lower and/or at the same quality as a "Fallout 4" brick building. Now, I'm personally a HUGE graphics type of guy considering all the graphic enhancer add-ons i buy for my consoles to make 4k gaming even better than it is, but, I dont consider it a HUGE factor. Bethesda also promised a storyline that a player would follow through the WHOLE game until completion (for those who don't know, yes you can continue to play after completing the storyline). BUT, because the game is based directly with online interactions, there are no NPC's. SPOILER ALERT!!! The whole storyline is the player alone or in a group, following a series of audio journals from various dead people around the game. The storyline is honestly horrible but I still somewhat enjoy it. However, if palying in a group like the game is intended to be played, you never can really hear/understand what the people are even saying. Storylines really affect my reviews, if it was better, maybe this would have gotten a green from me. The final factor of this is the online interaction. Now, meeting some online people is pretty cool, espececially when they help you out with some higher level gear. But what I have come to notice is that the people you meet will either kill you, leave you be without a word, or help you out in some way. But they dont level oit the servers, you will have level 3's running around a town with people that are level 300, and there is no passive mode. The only time you are "passive" is when you are level 4 and below. Level 5 is when the palyer is opened up to the FULL game. I do quite enjoy this game, but it definitely has more potential.… Expand

    The biggest downfall was the amount of people who used exploits for duplication, and got carried away, crashing the servers. Bethesda wasn't prepared to handle the amount of glitches and errors within the game. They really should have brought on a more experienced team to help them. At least for the first year of the game.

    However, I really hope they don't give up with the co-op. I hope they learn from their mistakes, and try again. Better. And perfect the next attempt at co-op.    … Expand

    The game is mostly fun, especially if you have friends to play with, but a real modding experience is still missing, and we got a crappy subscription service (FO 1st) post launch.

    I love fallout games but was hoping for a better experience, the glitches really hurt as I was playing. I think if everyone revisited this game in another 4 months/ first dlc there might be a better time.

    This game is by no means as bad the hate it is getting, but it's neither great. It's pretty forgettable. I had issues with Fallout 4 and didn't really feel immersed in the Story. It has a thin scattered story through the missions (like trying to track down the Overseer from Vault 76) and reading terminals. But it basically boils down to Fallout 4 without the larger narrative and NPC's.This game is by no means as bad the hate it is getting, but it's neither great. It's pretty forgettable.     I hung in there and tried to finish the main story but the last mission is such a mess! Throughout the whole game you are given straightforward quests where following the objectives is sufficient to progress, but of course for the very last (long & ammunition-hungry) quest, if you don’t anticipate a little by reading stuff on the internet you’ll fall in the trap and have to replay the whole thing. This is just an example to depict how messy F76 can be. So are many other quests, or some gameplay elements like the Pip-Boy inventory or the weapon switches which are everything but fluid. These contribute to making the game very heavy and annoying to play.

    F76 was full of potential. I will keep good memories of it thanks to its cool and good-looking world & to its – mostly effective – coop system, but also bad memories because of its many flaws that I tried to summarize. I hope the devs will learn and someday release a new game keeping all the good elements this game had to offer.    … Expand

Playing it alone can be very boring and no NPCs to talk to and listening to Holos and reading **** is not my cup of tea. My only reason why I dropped the score.

    Frame rate issues and bugs. Obviously these so called gamers haven't played a game by Bethesda before. FO3, FO:NV, ES:Oblivion and Skyrim had these issues and still maintained an average of 8 out of 10. So you sort of knew what you're gonna get.

    So my advice, if you are into an immersive single player experience I will wait for a price drop or stick to GoW and RDR 2. If you can find 4 buddies to play with then grab this game, you will have a blast. I found some of the glitches and bugs to be pretty funny and there's the not funny game crashes broken quest type. But I'm pretty sure they will iron out these issues in the near future. Just remember that this is the first MMO for Fallout and there will be issues. If you want to be safe, you can wait for the ultimate edition next year.

    But FFS lay off the review bombing and keep it real fellow gamers. I'm out. Peace!

    I'm enjoying it and look forward to what it will become with continued support. If you enjoy Fallout games then you won't be too put off with the occasional glitch or bug and if you don't then you were probably never going to buy it anyway.

It's pretty apparrent that they took that into account as draw distances and details suffer in fallout 76 for performance , but it runs well most of the time. You will get stutter when enemies spawn right next to you, hopefully this is patched, til then if you get stutter arm your weapon ASAP.

    Graphically and physics wise it is noticibly improved in all areas to Fallout 4 except draw distances. Gameplay is interesting, and Fallout has a historicaly excellent community and so far my experience in my encounters have been positive.

    If Fallout 3 or 4 was your favorite BGS game and you like Multiplayer you should buy this. If you think new Fallouts suck and Fallout 2 was great or hate multiplayer you should pass. If you love Fallout 4 but hate Multiplayer buy on sale.    … Expand

    It has potential and it seems like it's been getting better already!
    I'm not getting many disconnections anymore, less glitches and I'm actually having fun playing it!
    It's not a "WOW" factor like I had initially playing Fallout 4 or games like God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn but still I'm enjoying it.

    So if I had to rate the game upon my very 1st experience, it would've been somewhere between a 2 or a 4 / 10 like most of the people here.
    And like most people here, I tought "WTF, I'm just gonna return this garbage of a game..."

    Now I'd probably crank it up 2~3 notches at about 6~7 /10.
    I doubt it will ever reach a 9-10 state but with some more tweaks it could be an 8/10 which would be just fine!

    You can't judge a sandbox game like this before you actually saw more than just the beggining of it.
    Radiations, Food and Water thingie was a turn-off for me in the first 4-5 levels and I was wondering how I would manage to deal with it in a long term manner but after spending 2-3 perks, it now became easily manageable.

    So I understand the frustrations of most people giving the game 0-2 score but if you would've actually cared to play more than a couple of hours before rushing here to bash on it, maybe there'd be more 5-6-7s which would be more accurate.

Explore locations and homes, avoid radioactive sites, shoot down enemies, etc. This is all part of DNA Fallout.

    Being a game always online, the (public) servers of the game are dedicated. It's a pity that we have to take the Player vs Player, which implies that there may be that fear because of this or that player might ruin our progress and steal our base that was built. What... isn't even a plus for Fallout 76. Luckily, when we die, we lose only rubbish and some caps (about the last, we only lose if we are defeated in a PvP confrontation). And whenever we die we have to do Respawn and pay a certain number of caps (it depends on how far we are from the place where we died) to be in X location that we have discovered. Yes, it is possible to recover the garbage that we lost, is just go to the place where we were slaughtered. Bethesda is expected to keep the promise of adding private servers in a future update to avoid clashes with other players. And of course, it's possible to invite friends or strangers to our group or join an existing group.

    Speaking of gameplay, it's almost the same as the previous Fallout and the player is still able to choose the 3rd or 1st person perspective. As it is a multiplayer game, the only thing have changed in the gameplay was the V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System), and if Fallout 4 allowed us to pause the game and target certain parts of the body of our enemy and see them "cinematicaly" take with our bullets, this Fallout 76 takes place in real time and this time we can only target the torso.

    In most missions we have to get to a specific location to get some recording and listen to it in our Pip Boy, pick up some object, use a certain option on the terminals or kill a specific enemy. Fallout 76 has online events to complete, which offer items and XP as a reward. For example, we have to survive several waves of enemies, and if we complete that same event, we win XP, caps, drinks and ammunition, among other things. The hability to construct bases, which was added in Fallout 4, is also present in Fallout 76. It serves to render useful the garbage we collect while exploring the map and make resources and defenses. Don't worry, in case you are out of the game, you don't lose those bases that were built because they will be engraved on your profile.

    There are temporary challenges to do and if we succeed in one of these challenges, we get atomics or a pack of perks for our S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. And speaking of this system, each time we level up, we gain a point of experience that can be used to improve one of seven attributes: Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility or Luck. When opening a pack of cards, we gain perks such as Lead Belly (Endurance) or Iron Fist (Strength), which can be placed in our system S.P.E.C.I.A.L.. If you have repeated cards, in some perks we can merge those cards. And now, for example, if we have Lead Belly on level 3 and Endurance on level 2, the card cannot be used because it has to be equal to or worse than the level of our attribute. Atomics are used to acquire clothes, hair, skins, emotes, icons and other cosmetic things in Atomic Shop. These atomics can also be acquired through microtransactions.

    Talking about the negative aspects, Fallout 76 maintains four chronic problems of the previous entries of the series, namely graphs, Bugs, Glitches and Freezes. Fortunately, the frame rate is slightly more stable after the 1.02 update. As for the graphics, it is inadmissible that Bethesda Game Studios use the same engine already almost 10 years. Fallout 76 has a dated look. Then there are too many bugs and glitches. Even after the 1.02 update has fixed some of the abnormal situations, there is still a long way to go, because there are still too many issues in quests that prevent me from completing them. And as for freezes, whenever I want to use V.A.T.S. or Pip-Boy, there's always got to be a hiccup to annoy me a bit. It is a case to say that Bethesda was stagnant in time.

    Don't be fooled; I like the Fallout series. And Fallout 76 is packed with mysteries, places to explore, has a good atmosphere and is a fun game to play with friends. But that's not enough. The lack of private servers, the constant flaws and the super-dated graphics engine is to let the hair stand. Fallout 76 comes closer to a Multiplayer mode of Fallout 4 than a new game. And in my opinion, it is a game that isn't worth buying already, by having into count what it offers and the many problems.    … Expand

    I like the way that you can finally play with people you know or just other in general, that's a nice touch.

    I lost two handmade rifles by now, due to **** programming. Once I dropped it for my friend to mod, since he had a better receiver and the paper bag with the weapon just vanished infront of my eyes, same happened with 400 steel scrap I dropped for said friend and it vanished once again. The second time I found a handmade rifle, went about my way, after couple hours of playing closed the game and boom, the next day my rifle was gone....AGAIN.
    Another thing that pisses me off quite a bit, is wtf is up with the spawn rate of junk items like military ammo bags and weapons or ammo boxes and medicine/chem boxes being empty? Every damn time I get into a new server, they never "refill" or respawn the f*cking items, it's ridiculous and when someone else grabs the **** before you get the chance to, it's all **** and gone just like that. They need to fix that **** ASAP.
    I still give this an 6/10 cause it at least is fun and still interesting to wander about discovering and looting locations with people you know. F*ck the RPG elements, Fallout 4 already had 0.    … Expand

    alright, so this is not the best game ever, but still its not a garbage too. I played for several hour now and after you got a good basic of all the item, weapon, gun you can enjoy it more. but before that you dont really have the choice to play with always the same tactic over and over.
    The game feel bit empty, but in the same they put some many different creature.

    I went into the BETA not liking the game conceptually, and the first hour was fairly boring, but after some time I actually got a bit into the game. Now that the game is out, I must admit I'm actually having more fun than I anticipated, exploring and coming across SOME story elements and quests. But there is indeed more bad than good with Fallout 76. The fact that there's no LIVINGI went into the BETA not liking the game conceptually, and the first hour was fairly boring, but after some time I actually got a bit into the game. Now that the game is out, I must admit I'm actually having more fun than I anticipated, exploring and coming across SOME story elements and quests. But there is indeed more bad than good with Fallout 76. The fact that there's no LIVING humanoid NPCs, and instead literally hundreds of dead raiders, settlers, and First Responders, is a sign right there. Fallout, as a franchise, is all about the story and the RPG elements, so why make a Fallout that lacks those things. I do like the perk cards, it's a nice change of pace, and excluding the fact there's no NPCs alive, there is so much great potential for story. But other actual players also hampers this. Why would Vault 76 get the "best and brightest" for 25 years, only for all of them to unleash on each other the moment they step out of the vault... Again, pros and cons. This COULD be a great game if they add some NPCs, maybe an offline mode (because if it is only online there WILL come a day where the servers shut down and no one can play this game again), and please, Bethesda, tighten up the PvP. No one WANTS to get harassed constantly by someone else, even if they can't outright kill you. Had a guy follow me, shooting me, for maybe 10 minutes. He was higher level so I didn't dare fight back (tried that once before, ended with me dying of course). Also, bugs and glitches, but they aren't the worst, so not really worth mentioning, at least for me. 6/10, just an ok game, and a bad Fallout. (based on 22 hours in BETA, 7 hours in full game).… Expand

    There is a majority of environmental storytelling, if you enjoyed this in other Fallout titles, you will enjoy it here. But there is a significant lack of cohesive main- and sub-plot storytelling. Every location has its own story but you barely ever feel like you're part of a significant storyline with an means to an end. There are also no surprises in storytelling; pretty much every human NPC is dead, you will always return to a terminal or a robot and never be surprised or caught off-guard once.
    The leveling and weapon system are normalized so higher level players don't carry a great advantage over lower level players, making level 20s able to compete with 40s. This artificial balance in turn makes the PvE a complete joke, with the mobs suffering from the typical Bethesda AI flaws since Morrowind (getting stuck, getting confused, standing still. If you shoot a big monster from a position it has hard time reaching, you win).
    As such, there is no real sense of progression either. Hour 3 will feel like hour 30 will feel like hour 300, except you're wearing Power Armor in the end and have an even greater overabundance of Stimpacks to spam and cheese out the already ridiculously easy content.
    The gunplay is incredibly shallow, from bad audio to bad animations and visuals to little impact felt from guns. There is no realism in this shooting, from the way the guns sway to recoil to damage.
    A majority of base movement and combat animations have been recycled from Fallout 3 and Skyrim. You still have swing left, swing right, power attack and block, clunky run animations, clunky wielding animations, pretty much everything that modders worked hard to change for FO4.
    Finally, the character customization is horrible. The most downloaded mods on Nexus for FO4 (and Skyrim) are to improve character customization, visuals, textures and clothes. None of that is in Fallout 76, your character will go through the exact same creation menu as Fallout 4 with barely any improvements made to it, the textures will be bad, the customization will be bad.
    Many clothes just 'hide' your equipped armor pieces, and the majority of armor you find is re-used assets from 4, without even getting a texture upgrade. Customization is one of the most imporant aspects for many people in an RPG and Fallout 76 offers very rudimentary, ugly customization that won't make you feel unique or like a virtual avatar of yourself, just an ugly blob of very dated textures.

    All in all, this game is worse than many early access titles currently, not worth $60 for any of its key aspect: There are many superior multi- and single-player games out on the market. There are games with better storytelling on the market. There are games with better visuals and technology on the market that still offer more interesting gameplay than F76.

    I gave it a 55/100, rounded up to a 6/10 on here. It is an 'okay' game but it's not great. It has fun potential, but not more than other games. Games media will likely give it a deluded high 70 to low 80, but what else is new. Just in terms of graphics, stability and features you'd objectively have to deduct a vast sum of %, but everyone knows they won't.
    Still, it's not a 0/10 like all the bombed reviews claim, but its definitely not a 10/10 with vibrant AI as some of the other reviews claim. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

    Only buy this if you have an abundance of income and don't feel bad for supporting the practice of unfinished, recycled games as a service, or if you enjoy environmental storytelling as the main aspect of a game.
    Fallout 76 is an avatar of mediocrity, and as long as gamers don't start voting with their wallets to force Game Studios to shape up, this will be the standard for many games moving forward.    … Expand

The total lack of a story also badly hinders this game. Following an overseer, and never meeting them, makes your quest out to feel worthless. It is only there to push you around the map and introduce you to game mechanics. It's a tutorial and nothing more. The game keeps the same issues and glitches from Fallout 4, which for 2018 is unacceptable for a full priced game. The fact that gear has levels that lock you out of them makes the idea of looting less appealing, you might find a gun you have wanted to use all game, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to use it any time soon. The leveling system is poor, choosing cards just isn't fun and it forces you to use that planning website to make a good build. Card packs are kind of boring, having the ability to either help you or just do nothing. While at lower levels it is a great thing it soon becomes meaningless. In an online game you should be able to refund the cards and get new ones to be able to make the system less annoying, even if you had to spend caps it would still be appreciated. VATs is a glorified aim bot and nothing more. The lack of push-to-talk on release is unacceptable for a PC game as is the lack of any form of text chat, which makes communicating impossible for those who do not want to/are unable to use a microphone. And lastly the survival elements are pointless. They are only a slight annoyance and not a real survival feature. All it does is make it annoying to heal using food or water because then you might have to deal with a drop to your total AP. And food and water is everywhere so that's not even an issue. Finally the state the PC version launched in is awful, the game can freeze upwards of 15 seconds for no reason on higher graphics presets to the point where even top line computers can only play it on high or medium to completely avoid freezing. This game needs heavy optimizing and soon.

    Now. Onto the positives. Playing with friends, or even strangers if somehow they also speak with a mic and join your team, is surprisingly fun. Looting and killing with friends is great, it's just a shame that it isn't a normal Fallout game. The shooting and attacking is the same as Fallout 4, if not slightly better, so it works perfectly fine, it's just not spectacular. Building a base or modifying weapons/items is still just as fun as in Fallout 4 but since you can do it anywhere it's even better. However, if you didn't like it at all in Fallout 4 you probably won't here so be warned.

    So after all of this I honestly don't know if I should recommend it. If you have friends that have bought it chances are you'll be able to have a lot of fun with them in this game, but it's likely you could have more fun in other games. So if you are planning on buying this please make sure that you know people getting it, make sure you get it on the same device because this game doesn't have cross-play, which is kind of bad. So while you could play this game and have fun I would recommend being cautious with this game, wait for lots of respected reviewers to talk about it, talk with friends and even watch some streams on it. Definitely deserving of a 6/10 with lots of room to improve. Bethesda just needs to keep working on it and do their best to fix all of these issues, and soon.    … Expand

As with any multiplayer based game there are going to be performance issues at first, but fake and meaningless 'reviews' from fan boys and haters don't help anyone. reviews like this are an embarrassment to MC

    What's bad is that this game feels, in every way, a total cash grab. It's a full price title that locks a huge bunch of content behind micro-transactions, is balanced in such a way as to encourage you to spend money, and feels very much like an extension of Bethesda's relatively recent stab at paid mods.

    They're also getting really lazy with the series' canon. Inconsistencies so huge and glaring it almost feels like they didn't even play Fallout 4, much less 3, 2, 1, and New Vegas, and considering how little story there is in this game that's saying something. It's also pretty glaring the number of systems and control schemes they've made more obtuse, complicated, and broken from Fallout 4. Good luck with the new favorites wheel––it sucks.

    We've got a buttload of radio tracks this time, too, from old favorites to new tunes, and there'll be a lot of silence to fill up as you make your way through the absolutely massive game world. The game map itself is fantastic, both the new stylized rendering in the menu and the actual environment, which is why it feels such a shame that they used it for so mediocre a game. There was a lot of potential, here, and it's been squandered to develop a Fallout loot shooter.

    There's plenty of sour grapes over Fallout 76, and while some of them are unreasonable, this game really is underwhelming in a number of ways, having taken some steps back from even the accessible but simplified Fallout 4. If you're on the fence, feel free to miss it.    … Expand

The main issue that has bugged me so far is the fact that textures sometimes don't load in until you are close to the environment and also when the whole areas enemies spawn all in one space and then swarm you which can be massively overwhelming if you are playing solo but I'm sure if we mention these issues to Bethesda they will fix this but we have to remember this is all new ground to them and they need our input and our support to make this the game we really want. I've found that I really enjoy the game down to its core as its more fallout and thats all I could wish for. The world to me is interesting and I don't feel like the lack of npcs is too bad and I'm a solo player. It's far from perfect but it could be one hell of a game if we help them get it right. They've shown they are listening and that's a good sign.     Let's Directly start with the most horrendous aspect of this game. Let me directly state that a company of the size of Bethesda have no excuses delivering us a game of this quality. In my approx. 20 houres of playtime with fallout 76 i encountered numerous crashes, glitches, freezes, FPS drops, pop ins etc.. Out of previous games of Bethesda we know we can expect a certain amount of bugs and glitches, but fallout 76 gives me the overall feeling the game was not ready for a full release.

    Comparing to new release this year, the graphics also feel a bit outdated, although i could put this in context if the earlier mentioned problems wouldn't be present. I truly hope for this aspect of the game Bethesda do tremendous efforts to fix it. Weirdly this game has a potential to become a gem, but at this time from a technical point of view it is a raw uncut gem.

    Story:

    Many people state that fallout 76 consists of an ill, bad story. Comparing to previous entries in the series you could say the serie misses out one of its bigges strenghts of the series... The dialogue. Althought after delving deeper in the underlaying story of Fallout 76, it truly captivates me on what just happended to the local residents who resided in the wasteland after the bombs dropped. The main difference with previous entries is, that in fallout 76 alot of the stories is written down in documents, terminals and holotapes. This way you have to do more effort and actually read stuff to understand the bigger picture of the story.

    Game-play: Fallout 76 has the core game-play elements of fallout 4. Exploring the wasteland is still one of it's biggest strenghts. indirectly the absence of NPC's plays a bit of a negative role in this. While you scour trough the wasteland looking for answers, sometimes it feels like you are just killing without any significance to the world around you. the weight limit and stash limit also have indirectly a big influence on your playtime. It truly is frustrating to return you your camp every five minutes to scrap and reduce your weight. Also the use of foods and drinks in the game is unbalanced. It drains to fast and totally takes the pace out of the game. Simple gameplay tweaks concerning food& drinks, weight & stash limits wil increase the fun in-game significantly.

    Sound: This may be one of the only aspects of the game i can't critsize about. The sound, going from ambient sounds, dialogue, soundtrack is top notch. I truly enjoy putting on the radio and hear ghostrides in the sky blasting out. In this aspect Bethesda did a tremendous job again.

    Conclusion: If you like a game with alot of underlying contect, fallout 76 will be your thing. The world itself is of huge proportions and is a joy for exploring if you dont mind the technical problems the game is having right now. With the right care and fixes this game would be one I advise to my friends to play. But at this very moment I would advise people to wait for patches to start rolling out.

    Sidenote: I truly don't understand why bethesta didn't entrust a multiplayer version of fallout to Zenimax. For me Zenimax did a tremendous job with Elder Scrolls Online. Something which Bethesda has failed to do with Fallout 76. The only hope i have is that Bethesda takes the example of Zenimax and have the same devotion to keep rolling out game fixing patches after launch like Zenimax dit with ESO.

The lack of NPC's is also a problem for some people. At launch the game has been a buggy mess and has been prone to various problems in this regard. If explorling and rebuilding the wasteland is your thing and you dont mind theFallout 76 is....not for everyone. Quests- What i found the most fun in previous fallout games, not veryI'm disapointed, in this game and in bethesda. Really put my faith in this and hoped that they knew what they were doing. World overall- Beautiful and interesting locations to discover, although anti climatic if one area already has been looted by someone else (server hop solves it but still) or if an area is suuuper cool but there's literally nothing there and i'm left feeling like "that's it?"...
    That's the best things i feel like (at the moment), I do hope that Bethesta take action and fixes all of the glitches and bugs soon as possible. Because there are a lot of bugs let me tell you, and soo many glitches. The things wrong with this game are not okay and they should have waited with release because they're not in any rush to fix them now...
    My advice to anyone wondering if it's worth the money- you can't really know if you'll like it, but it's definitely not worth the 60 dollars! Buy it on sale of wait and see if the issues get fixed.    … Expand

    This game needs a remapping of the controls for PS4 controllers. Pressing triangle to jump is ackward. The rest of the gaming world has used the X button for jumping. I propose the following button layout for Fallout 5. Using a PS4 controller for reference.

    The Touch Bar= Your map, inventory, upgrade tree, settings, etc.

    X button= Jump
    Press Square= reload
    Hold Square near an NPC= interact with NPC
    Circle button= Crouch
    Triangle button= bring up weapon wheel
    R1= Dedicated grenade button
    L1= Something other than V.A.T.S

    Section 2: The Menu
    The Pip Boy is an annoying interface, just like in Fallout 4. I am proposing this franchise use a Borderlands inspired menu with a perk section, an inventory section, a map, a quest tab. They can even make this in the ugly Pip Boy green if they want. I understand there's some lore about the universe not having invented the transistor, but the Pip Boy still looks ugly.

    Section 3: The Story(ies)
    The main story in Fallout 4 IMO was a steaming pile of horse **** I was not interested in finding "my son" for a second. While I have not completed the main story, I am intrigued by this scorch plague and the reports of flying beasts. I want to know what happens next, unlike Fallout 4 where I only completed story missions by accident. The side missions, so far, seem to have more personality than the Fallout 4 side missions. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

    Section 4: The NPCs
    There is a false narrative spreading that this game doesn't have NPCs. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Fallout 76 has some really interesting NPCS. So far my favorites are the drunk bartender from the Nukashine mission and Rose the robot Raider. IMO the NPCs in Fallout 76 are more expressive and interesting. I know people are mad there are no human NPCs, but to be honest none of the human NPCs from Fallout 4 has good lip synching. Until they fix that **** I am content with robot NPCs.

    Section 5: The survival mechanics
    The hunger, thirst, decreased carry capacity somehow make this game more fun than Fallout 4. I can't describe why, but now all the consumables which were worthless in Fallout 4 become far more interesting in Fallout 76. Also these survival mechanics feel right for a world that's only 25 years after the apocalypse.

    Section 6: The Perk Card system
    I loath, hate, and despise the upgrade tree from Fallout 4. What a cluttered, uninteresting piece of **** The perk card system, combined with the now functional V.A.T.S system, means there is better presentation of upgrades and the agility tree is worth a damn! Well done Bethesda, although I am worried they will make perk packs purchasable with atoms, but so far this is not the case.

    Section 7: V.A.T.S
    I hated V.A.T.S in Fallout 4. Was a clunky mess that slowed down combat in what should be a fast moving FPS experience. In Fallout 76 they have redesigned the system to be a simple aimbot. It's now functional, but uninspired. IMO Fallout 5 either needs to scrap the V.A.T.S system to focus on fast and fluid first person shooting, or they need a drastic redesign to make V.A.T.S work in a fast fluid FPS system. I'm imagining a Soldier 76 ultimate style V.A.T.S but that's just my opinion.

    Section 8: The bad
    There are a lot of serious problems with this game that keep it from being scored higher in my book. The microtransactions this game expects for simple cosmetic are shameful. I paid for a full retail game, I want all the damn cosmetics you imported from Fallout 4. Having to scrap weapons to gain weapon upgrades is a confusing system. Why not just scrap the guns for parts, but be able to build better weapons after building a certain quantity and quality of other gun parts. I hope they redesign this system. The map, while being pretty, can be unhelpful at times. I would appreciate specific instructions, not vague mission goals. I would like to be able to see on my map the locations of safes after I discover them, but can't unlock them. This would help me come back for them and force me to explore the map to map their location instead of the location being given to me like Rage 2. The weapon wheel needs work. This is the clunkiest weapon wheel I have used to date. Too many of the necessary building structures are locked behind high atom prices.

Allthough I have to objectively admit that there are issues here. There are a few bugs from time to time that aren't pleasant but they didn't destroy the overall experience either. My personal experience is almost an 8/10, but there are issues here and the graphics aren't up to date so I have to objectively score it a bit lower. They are still improving the game though and that score might rise with the introduction of human NPC's this fall.… Expand

    Good concept that made me preorder. Word of advice if you have friends willing to play do not miss the opportunity. Without friends this game will beat your head in with a major difficulty curve other than that its pretty ok

    I like the game but it has it problems. Like i bought a backpack thingy in the Atomic Shop and i couldn't use it in game. And the smoke from the generators is weird. I recommend a video on Youtube called The fall of 76. He goes in to a lot in the video.

    Not as bad now as it used to be. It's alright, a little buggy or glitchy, but still playable and somewhat enjoyable for about $15. Any more than that is not worth it. The map is fun and has plenty of variety for people who are in it to explore.

    Shame you don't meed a single one of them.

    What you meet are crystal zombies, molerats, wild dogs and ghouls that will some times spawn in hordes five meters behind you like in an early 2000s mmo whenever the game feels you need some action. Not that it would be a challenge tho. You can easily outperform the ai by simple walking backwards and shoot the approaching enemies. Often enough they will bug on reaching you, make their attack animation. Then stand there for a second like they just forgot what they wanted to do before approaching you once again.

    Public quests are similiar. I've seen more interesting ones in RIFTS initial release - in 2011. But they don't matter - the loot that they offer doesn't matter. Like most loot in the game. After finding more then fifty pipe pistols it starts to get tideous.

    Fallout 76 feels like Fallout 4 - just less. Less crafting. Less building. Less enemies. Less character development. I would write less rpg too, but the truth is that Fallout 76 isn't an rpg anymore. It's a mediocre shooter with progression trough lootboxes.

    It's noteworthy that there's a surprising lack of clothing and furniture in the game. The cynic in me assumes that it has to do with the built-in online shop. As the 60$ initial cost where merely an entry fee to the shop. Here you can buy hats for 5$, power armor paintjobs for up to 20$ or new furniture for your base. As well as looks for your character and other cosmetics. Even clothing.

    Which is kinda neeeded if you want to stick out. The Character Editor is even more basic then Fallout 4s, which is baffling considering this is a multiplayer title. You will see the same 15 faces again and again. Because that's all you get.

    Last but not least is the inventory management and menu control: It's bad. On the pc, building a base feels like playing the Piano. There was no effort in improving controls. It's really, really dissapointing.

    Fallout 76 feels like something the B team made with existing assets. A quirky little thing for learning and testing the waters. Sold for 20 bucks. But it's not. It's a fully fledged product for 60$ with an in-game shop containing items for hundreds of dollars. And to me, it feels like someone wanted to make the most money with the least amount of work possible. The truly nefarious could even go as far and say that it's another take on paid mods by turning the Fallout franchise in a 'live service'.    … Expand

    if you look past the crap that is Fallout 76 and what could've been. It's an average survival game. Now some might and WILL say: "But uh. Those survival games are polished, etc." and that is true. However like some of those survival games. There isn't really any story or npcs. But you, enemy npcs, and other players trying to survival on a gigantic map.

    You can build your own base, set up jobs for each of your teammates, do challenges, complete quests, etc. Essentially this is literally a post-apocalyptic survival simulator with the name Fallout slapped on it to bring more attention and all of that dollar cheddar.

    Do i recommend this game? Hell no. Play any other game BESIDES Fallout 76. But! If your a survival gamer enthusiast (and it's your money btw) then if you wait till this game goes on sale for a decent price then it may be worth it. Totally unacceptable state this game shipped in. The core is there to build on but needs some serious work. I question how much of the Maryland studio had a hand in this. I feel it was outsourced to the new smaller studios. TheyAfter playing over 40 hours of this game i have to say it falls way short of a Fallout game. NPC's need to be introduced and bugs/glitches need to be fixed. Totally unacceptable state this game shipped in. The core is there to build on but needs some serious work. That being said, there are so many bugs that I am lead to believe this game was not finished properly before release and that is very disappointing. One major quest cannot be completed because you have to kill some guy and when you finally get there, the guy is already dead, this is a disgrace!
    The crafting is very cool and there are some nice weapons + many places to explore on the map + colorful landscapes, but the graphis overall suck big time compared to other ps4 pro-enhanced titles.
    I like this game a lot but I hope they fix the bugs because this game is sometimes unplayable, yes it's that bad. This game crashes my ps4 pro so I have to unplug the power cord and put it back in for my ps4 to work again, but I keep playing it because it's pretty damn good.    … Expand

    Fallout 76 is Fallout 4 without dialogs and with new map. Boring quests. Boring events. 400 max weight at your base. A lot of bugs. Very bad interface even on PC. 1 of 10.

    The Beta was terrible and so is the launch of the game. The bugs have not been ironed out.

    I give it a 5 not taking into consideration the micro transactions and bugs.

    Definitely didn't expect this from Bethesda. The game has a few unique perks of it's own and what it's aiming to do is ambitious but it severely lacks care. The quality is passable and mediocre at best- the frame rates are in-consistent, the combat is alright, and the graphics are bland with lots of visual glitches, and the world can be only defined as quantity over quality.

You'll find yourself in encounters which were obviously designed for multiple players, often resulting in your own death or retreat.
    Overall, Fallout 76 is mediocre. Yes, you can find some fun in it, but you will have to deal with many technical issues (at least for now) and there is not a very good story behind the game. I would recommend playing this game with friends or not at all.    … Expand

    In terms of questing, its pretty much go here, do this, go to the next place, find this, do this. Some of it fun, but most of it not. Keeping up with friends and also listening to all the holotapes is frustrating because of talking and feeling like I cant take the time I need to engage in the world while playing with friends. I'm not sure why Bethesda made the decision to distribute the experience points the way they did because it is very hard to keep everyone at a similar level. My personal
    opinion on the perk system is that it is just meh. I've never cared for the perks in other
    titles as the options don't get me excited about that aspect of the game at all but that is different for everyone.

    I see the potential in Fallout 76 so I won't say it can't get better over time with added
    content and improvements. Having said that I think it falls pretty much in the middle. I'm just
    as sad as everyone else that there was a lot of opportunity lost with this title. There may be
    enough complaints for Bethesda to turn around in the future and release a really fantastic
    game (fingers crossed) but who knows. In short, this game is for you in its current state if you:

    + Enjoy exploring a well laid out but reused environment
    + Building and crafting that is similar to Fallout 4
    + Exploring buildings and picking up junk
    + Engaging in mediocre questing and combat
    + Foraging for your survival (even though it honestly is moot)
    + Doing all this with a few friends

The gameplay is mediocre and unchanged, the VATS is a little shotty but the game lags out so often it makes it extremely tough to play and battle.     if you have friends or love all thing Fallout then this game will probably be a 5 to 7 out of 10. If you're like me and your friends aren't interested in playing FO76 so you'll be playing SOLO and you like the Fallout series but aren't obsessed with it it'll probably be a 3 to 6 out of 10 experience. Anybody whose played online games for more then a day knows the gamble it can be to playif you have friends or love all thing Fallout then this game will probably be a 5 to 7 out of 10. If you're like me and your friends aren't interested in playing FO76 so you'll be playing SOLO and you like the Fallout series but aren't obsessed with it it'll probably be a 3 to 6 out of 10 experience. Anybody whose played online games for more then a day knows the gamble it can be to play with rando's online. Ironically the measures in FO76 to stop griefing or trolling makes the inclusion of PvP extremely dull if not almost absent The world is beautiful but empty. IMO it's worth it to hold off buying until it becomes clear how much Bethesda plans to invest in the online experience or if the activity will have a significant drop shorty after release. As of now I don't see this games' activity lasting and I predict a steep decline within 90 days of release. If the online activity holds and Bethesda invests with patches for bugs, added content, and not going down the micros-transaction road this game could be a 7. Not yet though.… Expand

    So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

    Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

    Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
