Boring, unskippable cutscenes and dialogue, the most frustrating thing is how slow you move and the waypoint makes you do circles, this should only take a few minutes to beat but with how slow you are it takes a few hours.

A fascinating, eerie game with a clever storyline and believable characters. The graphics are super-realistic and really draw you in, I particularly enjoyed the mysterious observatories and the sense of mystery and thick atmosphere. It's somewhat of the walking sim genre, so might not be for everyone, but I found it gripping and really good fun. I was delighted to manage to complete the game.

I loved the English town setting, the graphics are gorgeous and the music is superb. I liked the voice acting and i really enjoyed how the plot unfolded in it's artistic way. I don't think a film could capture the same feelings as you explore the village. This game proves that it offers a unique story telling that no other format could provide. Your spirit of adventure and inquisitiveness are the tools to unravelling the mystery that unfolds as you progress.

I played this game in the first week of lockdown of covid and this added greatly to the creepy feeling I got from the village that is quarantined.

The game doesn't have replay value but it will long stay in my mind as a lovely memory.
With it's great graphics, moving audio score and a script that is at times down to earth and relatable , whilst at other times poetic and dramatic.

    "But it doesn't matter anymore.

    everybody is gone,

    and we will join them.

    We are born apart,

    driftwood on the banks

of an endless dark ocean, and we will carried away by the swell soon enough.

    But in between,

in the single day of living,

that dancing in a strip of sunlight,

we can find what we miss,

the love that makes un whole,

    the immanence."

I wanted to play this game for 4 years as it sounded really interesting, but I didn't want to pay so much for this kind of game (what people call a 'walking sim'). I expected a similar quality to Edith Finch or Firewatch, but was quite disappointed with the outcome.

    - The walking is VERY slow, even if you hold down R2 to go faster (which is only a bit more faster). This is insanely bad

    - The walking is VERY slow, even if you hold down R2 to go faster (which is only a bit more faster). This is insanely bad for the kind of game this is.
    - There is no manual save function, which is incredibly tedious if you need to close the game and do something else, like eat, go out, etc. There is only an autosave function which happens for certain events, meaning you have to keep playing until the game autosaves, which can take a while to get to. If you close the game, then you'll lose all that progress. This is absolutely ridiculous!
    - the story isn't very engaging and is overall quite boring. I found myself not really caring.

Overall, this game was a big disappointment. The world they created was very close to a real life English countryside, however it was a very boring experience.

Everyone says it, but the movement in this game is the slowest of any game I can remember. It makes exploring a huge chore in a game that should be all about exploring. You'll think "Hey, I wonder what's in that house over there" and then "Nah, if I walk over there I'll have to walk all the way back here after-not worth it".

The story is also not really worth the time it takes to crawl

You'll think "Hey, I wonder what's in that house over there" and then "Nah, if I walk over there I'll have to walk all the way back here after-not worth it".

The story is also not really worth the time it takes to crawl everywhere. It's mostly watching scenes from a small English town involving gossiping. Every once and a while, you get a bit of mysterious info about why everyone is missing, but even by the end it's not that clear. Also, since your main guide through the places you need to go is a floating light ball, sometimes you'll completely miss some scenes because the light ball has gotten stuck or vanished completely. There is probably some sort of system to it, but this is one of those irritating games that tries to be artsy by not explaining anything that you are supposed to be doing.

The music is good, at least, but that is the only positive thing about it.

A cool concept, with great voice acting and a beautifully recreated English village, I wasn't hugely keen on the story however and felt that the game could help you keep track of the various characters more than it does, especially as you are effectively free to roam as you please.

on my original play through i wasn't highly impressed. i really like Dear Esther so i was looking forward to this, it's a bit confusing and the "motion" sensor story elements are tricky to get to register. on my second play i liked it a bit better. was a fairly easy platinum with a guide. the story is fairly interesting, it's a pretty game, and the soundtrack is top notch.

Sadly, this where immersion becomes frustration, as you have to drag yourself across already traced land, just to find the next floating orb. Given its a walking simulator, you'd think that the walking would at least work. The game doesn't really include any other gameplay mechanics. The game's focus, is clearly its narrative, which is mildly interesting and has enough mystery to push you through the slog. Is the ending worthwhile? I'm not quite sure.

It felt like a genuinely nice break escape from the real world, being in a place where you literally only need to worry about holding an analogue stick down, but this doesn't make it a particularly great game.

I'm certainly glad that I played EGTTR and I do think that it tells a decent story. However, it's a fact that the game hides it's own shortness by forcing you to walk at a snail's pace all the time - something that makes the game maddeningly slow and boring. A decent story and sort of cool setting can't make for a complete lack of gameplay.

A pretty underwhelming walking simulator. I'm not averse to the genre, I quite liked Gone Home. I enjoy a good walking simulator, but his was not a good walking simulator. This game is so overrated. Since many have already complained about the slow walking and bad direction (with the light orb) I'll skip that and talk about the terrible characters. There's a love triangle between Kate, a black American who moves here with her husband and colleague to do research, Stephen who grew up in the town and returns with his newlywed Kate and Lizzie, his lover and fiance before he moved to America. Kate is portrayed as a genius who loves Stephen, but feels the town's community doesn't accept her, save his uncle Frank and may have gone crazy following this light that came out of the radio frequencies. Kate behaves like a smart ass smug person when seen in interactions with many of the other characters which makes me wonder if they wanted her to be a sympathetic character or not. Stephen clearly wasn't because he's terrible. He gets married and then moves home and starts an affair with Lizzie that leads to pregnancy. I have no problem with following unlikable or immoral characters, I just feel like an end of the world game should have some redeeming characters to pull emotion from. Instead we get that from a few side characters who don't move the story along at all, so what we have left is this ugly lot of people. Stephen is also the one who kills everyone so was it even a rapture or did the town get cancer from being surrounded by radio towers? They get nosebleeds and headaches and even the doc says at the phone by his office that it was cancer. So did Kate just go crazy and Stephen driven mad too by all his bad decisions and seeing everyone get sick after they begin research? I'm not even sure how long they were in town before the calamity or even before they found their light orb. Some cancers can also make people see lights flashing and moving so I'm gonna say cancer paranoia and Stephen killed this town. Why else would you be walking around if the whole world ended? The voice actors were fine but there's so little chemistry between Kate and Stephen and their newlyweds. He says to her that she thinks she's superior to the townfolk, but then before he dies, defends her and says she's smarter than the rest of them when confronted by another guy in town (can't remember his name, oh well). He works both women to try to hold onto them both but at what end? This game is also not very sci-fi at all. I thought it'd be like a fallout type scenario where they are one of the last towns to go so they're trying to say their goodbyes and make final ammends before moving on, and you kinda got left behind and maybe figure out how it happened and it just turns out that people got sick and one idiot decided the only way to fix it was to kill the whole town. Theoretically, if it was something killing them through the radios and phones, wouldn't it have gotten everywhere already? He even tells the thing that he killed everyone so it would have no one to give it company. Just so **** dumb. This game is clearly about emotion, but you get none from me. Mislead me with a story about science and humanity only to have no science in it except some bs philosophy at the end, characters I can't pity or stand and a score that confirms they think they really made a compelling and thoughtful game. The music is beautiful, so is the environment, but that's really the only kudos I can give to this complete waste of time. I'd rather play a **** David Cage game than this ever again and thank God I didn't pay a cent to experience this.

The story is very mysterious and interesting, characters are different and unique in their own way and Yaughton feels so real and detailed. Each part of Yaughton had a story to tell.
A good, visually stunning experience, but a little bit frustrating for the fact that there isn't a button to run.

I honestly didn't listen to the plot which are just given to you through audio clips and balls of light. I listened to the first few but wasn't interested. It's a pretentious game, but hey, it sure looks nice on my 4K TV! Also, there really is no gameplay here. Even games similar to this have some kind of puzzle solving or something to make it interesting.

I enjoyed this one. The story and mystery were both interesting, and the music and graphics were beautiful. I just wish you had an option to move a little faster or run, because it can be an ASS of a time to back-track if you've gone the wrong way; the character is very slow.

Beautiful landscape to explore, but walking was too slow to want to go back to explore it, I never particularly cared about the inhabitants of the world, and I felt that it overstayed it's welcome. Also the wandering ball of light tended to get lost and I wouldn't know where to go. I imagine I wasted at least an hour of playtime due to that.

All in all I enjoyed the experience though.

The things I like about Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture are many: the self-paced discovery and chronological asymmetry, the significance of entangling yourself in a visually “complete” environment, the poignance of a well-crafted, well-delivered character exchange. I’m just not sure how often I’d want to repeat the experience.

The slow, idyllic exploration, paired by some good narrative make Everybody's gone to the Rapture something that should be played, but only by those with patience. It's a sluggish walk to the end, that pays off, but probably not enough for many players.
