CD-ActionOct 17, 2015Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture claims to be something more than a game, but that claim is completely groundless. [10/2015, p.50]

Oct 7, 2015The beauty of its locations can't be denied, but it seems to be at odds with the game's core. The backstory didn't grab me, and the avatar's journey lacks internal logic or a narrative thrust of its own. Rapture coasts a long way on the strength of its visuals and score, but in a minimalistic game, production values can't mask the weak storytelling and thematic inconsistency.

Aug 10, 2015As Dear Esther's lovers, we highly anticipated Everybody's gone to the Rapture from Chinese Room. Unfortunately, this new story lacks a real major plot twist, real interaction and the flow of the game is definitively too slow. Forcing you to walk in an huge (and perfectly crafted) world feels so frustrating... and seems to be there to artificially extend the length of the game.

Aug 17, 2015It's banal and tedious and if your narrative focused do-nothing game wouldn't work as a halfway interesting short story, then it won't be better just because you force people to walk slowly around a wholly un-interactive game space while you drip-feed them unconnected plot points.

Dec 9, 2015Spend this game's five-hour runtime catching up on a better story game you might have missed.
-
Dec 8, 2015A work so brutally dull that it would function as a parody of an “art game,” if only it didn’t take itself so seriously.
