Gorgeous graphics, varied locations, a great soundtrack and a decent selection of cars are the highlights. Unfortunately Driveclub does have some serious rubberbanding issues that can leave you feeling a bit cheated. Car damage and customization is also lacking. 7/10

The start-up problems have not been forgotten but have been left behind as new tracks, cars, effects and online difficulties have been patched, augmented and tweeked. The handling has developed over time, with the cars being more responsive, and varying with the delightful weather changes that come about . The amount of cars available is crazy, and although this game may not be to the car development fans likes, there are enough cars and varied performances to keep any racing fan interested.
The online racing is fast and frantic, with different types of event for variety, and although any racing game will attract the hoonatic who likes to crash, some penalties for their actions tend to nullify their worst excesses. Saying this more balance to these penalties could be developed to make the ardent racers experience better and for them to feel less aggrieved when one of these hoonatics hits them into a corner and the less respectful racer comes off best. The club aspect is also a good feature allowing like minded friends to work together with a shared goal, not often seen in any game other than co-op shootem-ups. overall a good game which has developed well.

Does extremely hard turning make a realistic game? I've never driven 130 mph, but I do know that I would die if I crashed into a wall, but instead it feels like bumper cars. The graphics are pretty, to say the least.

I did not start playing this game until much after many of the problems it had were resolved. So I can't comment much on its previous issues. As of now, the game plays very well. So far, I have had no problems with multiplayer, and there have been no lag spikes for me. The game itself is beautiful in terms of the PS4's capabilities. This has probably been one of my favorite racing games in recent memory. 9/10 Expand

I often find myself distracted by the gorgeous rain or lighting but have an absolute blast. The frame rate is 100% smooth and I had not experienced A SINGLE BUG. Witch is fantastic, Evolution Studios are still supporting this game really well a year on with fairly priced DLC and free content updates every month. The attention to detail, the location variety and the amount of event settings you can mess with is amazing. An absolutely brilliant game sadly let down in reviews by its launch server issues last year. The game has come MILES since then and is a really, really solid game. Expand

To date, Driveclub STILL sets the example for how Season Passes SHOULD be done, with one year's seasons pass adding over 10 new tours, multiple livery packs, and a whole host of new cars.

Yet I feel compelled to drop the game BACK down to a 5 because, over the last few updates, whatever they've done to the AI and physics has made the game completely not fun. I played this game a LOT without problems but after the last two updates and tour pack additions the AI is now extremely aggressive to the point where they'll purposely ram you, knocking you from a top three finish to a bottom three finish - and YOU get penalized for the contact even though the AI initiated it. Front Wheel Drive supercars now have the same physics as a plane which is to say good luck navigating corners.

Whatever they did with the last few patches has taken a game that had become very good and reverted it back into a mess. I'm so very disappointed. It still looks great and still sets the benchmark for how to do DLC but be prepared to be angry at a whole lot of physics and AI cheese.

Game play is awesome fun, each car has its own cons and pros. it is playable with the controller but steering wheel is highly recommended to get the best out of it. I have dedicated, probably close to 250 hours to this game and i will say hands down its best fun i had with a racer since Hot Pursuit 2010 (not including simulators).

Great selection of cars out of the box, plus loads of DLC cars, personally i will wait until all DLC is bundled together at the right price.

Graphics are stunning, especially during rain races and its not just eye candy, rain really affects game play in a big way.

Online play can be chaotic in a way that that people will slam full speed into sharp corners or use you as a brake which could make you end up last BUT unlike other games this one rewards you non the less, you gain points for you and your club. if im running last and no chance of catch up i drift and complete challenges. Still online is mad fun either way, even if you end up last you can still overtake those who play like retards and have proper racing with good players.

Do not let user score of 5.9 scare you away. You see when the game came out it was reviewed by many Xbox owners who do not even own PS4 or the game or ever played it. but this is modern gaming for you. i usually do not decide on a buy by the review unless its lower than 5/10.

The mere fact that this is the first racing game I've liked after Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (The latest one, of course) is surprising, even for me.
The club system needs work though, there isn't incentive enough for players to actively participate in club activities. Give out new cars, or something like that as rewards.
Content-rich updates and free DLCs could strengthen the game even more.

After having played the ps plus edition of the game, the basic gameplay seems pretty lackluster to the point where the additional content of the full edition definitely does not seem worth the price. While the game looks pretty and works on a technical level (after months of getting the online patched), the cars are not fun to control and I personally feel that this game's take on simulation is not fun in the least bit. I found making simple turns to be absolutely frustrating and I found the online mechanics included with the ps plus edition to be pointless leaderboard esque challenges that I could care less about.

The ps plus edition is pretty barebones and gives access to 2 basic cars at the start plus one car only available in a specific starter race. If you don't care enough about racing games to buy one, this might be your best bet at the moment of scratching that itch on a ps4 for free.

You mainly hold the same line round the track chasing a group of cars until you can squeeze past the car in front and take their position. It's all a little slow and doesn't have the buzz of playing arcade racers. I know this is a realistic sim racer but I enjoy the old school style Sega Rally's and Ridge Racer's more for the unrealistic race fun. I have not not had any Issue with the AI, its worth to note that I have played on the highest difficulty since the begining, and on that level the AI is both challenging and fair. Back when the game came out I would probably have given the game a 7/10. It was fun, but needed something extra. I bought the season pass, craving for more. The season pass is so worth the money. You just get so many new tours and lots of sweet new cars to play with. Evolution studios, is also really dedicated, to listen to feedback, espcially on their facebook fansite. They do frequent updates to keep us informed on the new stuff they are working on and responds to peoples feedback. This dedication is what have helped making this game a 10/10 from me. The love for the game they have made really do shine through with everything in the game. Time trials is so addicting, as I always want to beat my friends best times and try to beat the global leaderboard. Multiplayer is also alot of fun, and there still keep coming new multiplayer modes, which is great. Driving online with your club is fun espcially if you are in a party with your team and talk together while trying to win against the other team or if its just free for all fun. Sure there is some **** races once in a while, but that is not something you can prevent, because some people are just **** drivers. Not the developers fault, The controls of the game is responsive, the weather effects are amazing! And overall this game is just a great arcade racer with loads of hours of fun. I still play it till this day, for the multiplayer, time trials, the continued added new content (cars, tours). I can not reccomend this enough if you like arcade racers. But you have to dedicade your time into perfecting your driving. If you do so, you will have a great time with this game. If you are on edge, to buy this game, download the PS Plus version, and feel free to add my on PS4, my psn is : Sinink . We can do some multiplayer then, or just challenge eachother. Anyway. 10/10 overall from me.

However, the game does stand on it's own two feet as a solid racer. I think the problem was that Evolution Studios was untruthful with the premise for this game. It most certainly is an arcade racer, however, prior to release we were led to believe it would be a simulator comparable to that for Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo or the recently released Project Cars and so many people felt cheated and disappointed with the end result. The game is stunning to look at, the choice of cars is adequate although there is a serious lack of American muscle cars and the online and club services work well enough at this stage. All in all it is worth a look at a discount if you're a fan of socially driven arcade racing games. Expand

Great racing game. Yeah it took a while to get to this state, but when I tried out the PS plus version I ended up buying it. And I usually don't like racing games that much. Graphics are awesome, and the game plays great. Driveclub probably deserved the horrible reviews when it released, but now they have to come from trolls or those that suck at driving games.

+Challenges that are displayed during the race are a nice touch.
+Sometimes the races can be fun?.. I am really stretching here.
    +All camera options work well.

    Cons
-The control seems slippery to me. It's harder to drift than other racing games.
-Some track designs are so tight and its very easy to bump into other racers (WHICH YOU GET PENALIZED FOR). And having 12 cars on these tight tracks is a complete mess.
-Seriously, getting penalized for HITTING OTHER RACERS?! I can see if this is in a NASCAR-like grand prix but no, STREET RACES. THAT'S. SO. DUMB.
-It's just an normal racing game. We have so many of those already, why is Driveclub necessary?
-I fell asleep playing this game. It's that boring.

This game is for people who
    +like cars
+just want to play a newer realistic racing game

This game is not for people who
-are like me and enjoy games like Need for Speed or any Kart Racers.
-want have a silky-smooth drifting control
-want a fresh, original perspective on racing games.

Give the game a play if you are curious, it's free for PlayStation Plus currently. But honestly, just stick with the racing games you already enjoy playing.

While Driveclub had its problems with the online servers at launch it still holds up as a good racing game. I had many hours of fun driving around the tracks. A nice variety of tracks, cars, acheivements and challenges can keep you going. However I think the lack of customization was a disappointment and the fact they seemed to split up the game into different DLC.

Driveclub follows what became a very worrying trend in 2014. Games constantly over promising and constantly under delivering. Games constantly over promising and constantly under delivering. The true problem with this trend is that it immediately sets a game up for failure which is sad because most games which underperform still have many elements which are worth praising. Whether it be AAA titles such as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Assassin's Creed Unity or even other driving games such as Ubisoft's The Crew, 2014 was a rocky year which saw many fan expectations go up in flames mainly due to the unrelenting power of the HYPE train. 2014 saw many underperformers and Driveclub is certainly amongst them.

Driveclub looked to be this amazing next generation online driving game that would push the boundaries of a virtual driving experience. The graphics looked close to reality and the gameplay smooth and enjoyable. However this wasn't to be. The graphics whilst good underdelivered and the gameplay feels clunky and not quite complete. The driving mechanics are poor and personally I believe they can't even compete with Forza 4, a last generation title. It is so easy to lose control of the car that drifting becomes a massive challenge and a rare sight when done properly. Don't mistake this for being an enjoyable challenge. This is poor development and the fact that Driveclub was delayed so that the game could be polished makes it even more of an embarrassment that it is more fun to drive on a last generation xbox exclusive title than on the system seller racer that Driveclub was supposed to be.

I could criticise Driveclub all day, believe me. However as with most things these days, there are things that it gets right. The progression system is particularly satisfying and gives reason to keep playing. I have a fond memory of unlocking a Maserati at level 5. The sense of achievement you get with every unlock is one of the big things Driveclub does well. The tracks are also very good. The simple variety you get from just reversing the circuit is often more than enough to ensure Driveclub doesn't become tedious, however it far from makes up for poor driving mechanics in a DRIVING game. The driving really is poor and shockingly unrealistic. It feels like your driving a box on wheels.

In conclusion Driveclub is a mediocre driving game. The satisfying progression system along with good track variety and good graphics, all encourage replay value. However the good graphics are not as good as we expected and are undermined by the gameplay anyway. The gameplay is clunky and in no way does it feel like your driving an ACTUAL car, you can easily tell it's a game is what I'm saying. Mainly though all of Driveclub's negatives emphasise one thing clearly. Even as a hardcore do or die driving game fan, you don't have to or even need to buy it. There are much better driving games about. Funnily enough a lot are on last gen. Go and pick up any Forza game and you'll be happier. If you want to stay on next gen though, just buy Project Cars or wait for the new Need for Speed because in a driving game, driving mechanics are everything.

Driveclub is that exceptional balance between Arcade and Sim racer; while the physics and controls may not be true to life as some hardcore SIM racers, it is definitely NOT an arcade racer, and they did an incredible job with the physics. You can't just drift mindlessly through turns or correct oversteer in a second. You will spin out trying to floor that SRT Viper out of a tight corner, going 150+ down straightaways on an uneven road environment, not a racetrack, will take some finesse to maintain stability, and your drifts lose momentum very quickly instead of rocketing you at 10000mph through turns. There is definitely a difference in the physics between different cars. And while some are more obvious than others (the F Type R is definitely more tail happy in this game than an AMG GTS, and both are less stable compared to the AWD Huracan), you need to realize that most 500+hp rear wheel drive cars have similar physics when being pushed to the limit, as due most FWD hot hatches, and most AWD supercars. But I will say there is a detectable difference in the feel and physics throughout the cars in this game. And if you're in a race where the weather is dynamic be prepared; you may start out hugging the road in dry conditions only to be sliding around carelessly as rain and snow begin to fall a lap or two later.

The car selection is spectacular. Yea many cars can now be found in added DLCs, especially the American cars everyone was so desperate for (myself included), like the stingray, Viper, Camaro, Charger; yea those can now be had with a DLC, suck it up, you can find this game cheap anyway so it was worth it for me. I've added that, the lambo pack, and some others b/c I want my McLaren 650s and Jag CX75 concept. But the car selection is phenomenal even without the DLC's, and some cars and packs are free to download. I was worried about a lack of recent cars since it was released last year buuuuut not the case. Lambo Huracan, McLaren 650s, AMG GTS, and some amazing hyper cars like the Lykan Hypersport, Koenigsegg One:One, and the La Ferrari, JUST TO NAME A FEW. The car selection is phenomenal. Customization goes as far as paint and livery which is pretty extensive, don't care for all the modding and crap in a game like this. How do you throw a bigger wing on the One:One anyhow?

The graphics, sound, and level of detail in the cars and environments is mother effing mindblowing. The cockpit views are incredible. I typically go with 3rd person views in racers b/c I like to admire the cars beauty as I race, but I find myself trying to master the narrowed vision from the cockpit views or just driving casually in Time Trial modes to enjoy the fanatical level of detail and move the camera around in the cockpit. Even the driver oriented details like flipping the paddle shifters (the hand begins to float in preparation for a shift as the tach climbs, and the feet actively move to hit the gas and brake pedals). Seriously, the detail blew me away. I love getting a sense of what it feels like to be in the cabin of some of these exotics, and this game delivers and delivers and delivers. And while there may not be an extensive list of real world racetracks, there is a beautiful selection of real world locations and tracks which offers an enormous variety of racing conditions, from insane mountain passes to flat out straightaway race tracks.

There's also an extensive single player mode in the form of the Driveclub Tour which is littered with progressive events and subevents for you to progress and increase your level, earning new cars and livery in the process. It offers a lot of fun and challenges. You've also got your quick race, time trial, and drift events you can just jump right into with a car (that you've unlocked) and track of your choice. The menu is beautifully done and easy to navigate, and they've added to the settings to allow you to tweak the smallest things like having a visible tach for the cockpit view to increasing the volume of engine noise vs. environmental sound during races. Turn engine sounds to +3db and get goosebumps from the sound of these machines. Like the interior car views but prefer the exterior engine and car sounds? Settings allow for that as well. Replays can be saved and photo mode is a thing.

This game was definitely released in a hurry before it was complete and polished, but the fact that it's all been ironed out should allow this game the credit and reviews it deserves. It is a fantastic racer for absolutely anyone. Don't whine about how you were expecting Grand Turismo. You want to race a Daihatsu around Silverstone at 15mph? You do that. I prefer to fly in a Huayra through the treacherous North Sea hugging highways of Norway with some stormy weather and rain.

To be fair, the game has got progressively better since its troublesome launch, and a few tracks have been added too (though as of yet not integrated into the rather short Tour mode). The promise of realism is largely broken – cars all feel the same to drive, and have ratings bars to replace actual critical stats such as acceleration, power and top speed. The online aspect was nowhere near as "social" as I'd hoped, and most challenges sent by friends were left unanswered as there was no real incentive to complete them.

However, Driveclub does look amazing. Both the cars and the surroundings are gorgeous, and can be captured brilliantly with the game's photo mode. It's a shame the game wasn't as good as I'd hoped, because it looks like no other game I've seen. It's also a shame there are no licences tracks, as the developers would have done a fantastic job recreating them.

However, the most disappointing thing of all is the lack of variation in cars. No Japanese models at all, no American cars until a few updates ago. The good thing is you can pick this game up for virtually nothing now, so it's worth a gamble. It gets a seven as it has improved remarkably since launch, but it's no GT or Forza.

    3. NO CUSTOMIZATION OF VEHICLES
    4. You can't change the paint job of cars before a race, you have to actually save the color red as a custom paint job from the garage and then save it.
    5. AI is overly aggressive on one hand, yet aggression from your end is punished severely
    6. Cups and events are meaningless objectives you do to level up to unlock new cars. There's no sense of ownership over cars, and no sense of achievement for winning races (aka get stars for doing objectives).

    The good:
    1. Good graphics and textures (with 50 car roster that's expected)
    2. Aftermarket support (Good on them, but feels like they're polishing a turd at this point, and it's mostly including features like weather and bug fixes)
    3. Sounds great

The reason I'm giving this such a low score is because it's just not fun. It's an exercise in frustration and this is a strong don't buy, don't rent, don't try. There seems to be some new car games coming out soon that I'd bet on rather than this.

Seeing as this is the case it's a pity that the AI doesn't seem to care where you are on the track. They will follow the best line and if you are in the way they will make minimal effort to deviate. Two problems with this: (1) I am not a computer and 95% of the time I'll deviate from the best path (2) if you're trying to catch them they NEVER make a mistake. This results in the competitive levels just being frustrating, requiring many, many repetitions waiting for you to get lucky. Honestly I wasn't expecting much from it based on things I heard about it in the past, but once I played it, I put that outlook behind me, What I found was a very solid racing game as a whole. The driving is tight and challenging, encouraging lift-off to aid going around corners, the detail and textures, particularly in vehicles and particle effects are stunningly photorealistic, particularly the rain effects (the best I've seen in a game so far), and personally I loved playing in the first person camera. It felt dynamic, like every little input you made had an effect.
On the negative side though, my one major complaint regards the Tour mode. I've played a lot of racing game careers, and Driveclub, I thought had one of the most shallow career modes I have ever experienced. The progress you make in career is tangential to the leveling system, the latter which measures "Fame" (think PGR's Kudos but in Driveclub) in all game modes, which you earn to unlock cars and liveries mainly. Because of that I felt that there was no reason to play the Career, but just continue racing and drifting again and again. I mean, what are the career stars materially earning me?
Other complaints, the driving can get TOO challenging in extreme conditions, the soundtrack could be more inspired, the damage, while incorporating detailed scratches is generally weak and the events are too strict, deducting Fame for veering off-road and hitting the track or other cars.
Overall thought, if you're looking for a pure social racing experience, I'd recommend getting it at a lower price, maybe €30 or so. Don't expect much from the game though, the single-player experience is shallow at best, play multiplayer for the best Driveclub experience.

The graphics are amazing and the weather system in this title is probably the best to be found in a game. For newcomers I think the content is more than enough and for old fans of racing games there is a Season Pass at the price of 25 dollars that triples the game's content. It will be kinda hard for people who have not tried racing games before, as the AI is aggressive and the game does not forgive bad drivers. One very important feature that is missing is the local coop which is really a shame for such a game. Highly recommended regardless. Expand

I bought it on Amazon for $30 bucks and I rather enjoyed it. It did more right than wrong unlike The Crew. It has nice graphics, decent physics engine, good online interface and a nice variety of race modes. However limiting the vehicle roster to only European Marquees was a little disappointing (I knew this going in) but the vehicles are represented very well in their rendering. Also the online club, modes and challenges are excellent.

This game has 1 major problem though, Mobile Racing games. Yes, Your cell phone probably has access to a better racing game. I refer more specifically to Real Racing 3. While the graphics won't match up for obvious reasons the physics model is just as good and offers a better variety of cars and more of them (50 vs 109) with time shunted multi-player. Also it offers real racing damage that degrades the cars performance offer incentive to drive better and not crash about. Also you can mod and tune (in a limited fashion) almost every vehicle.

I am glad I was not an early adopter and missed its tumultuous release. However it is an enjoyable and beautiful game to play if you want something that isnt too serious simulation like. I recommend it but, again, not for more than 30 bucks.

Season pass adds a lot (Cars, tracks, single player races) and is definitely worth the money unlike a lot of other season passes.

Multiplayer runs okay, could be better but it's pretty much the same to a lot of other racing games.

Cons: Lacking cars(Although they add a free car every month plus a bunch of DLC) lacking music, only 30 fps (Which surprisingly isn't horrible) Aliasing can be pretty in your face sometimes but it's not too bad, could do with some more race tracks though. AI can be pretty goofy. More paint and visual customisation would be nice.

In the end, overall fun game just missing a few things.

racing games are all very different. i have long since lost trust in the idea that what i am controlling feels like the real thing. but driveclub feels good. feels like im throwing a giant piece of metal along the asphalt at some ludicrous speed. then i get better at it, and am satisfied. the game facilitates this.

many are slamming the difficulty, but this bar is set by the player. i have never had more fun playing a racing game when i am trying to break some ridiculously low threshold on my lap / track times in driveculb. and the time i spend in this game is NOT in the tour modes, because getting gold stars just doesn't do that much for me. finding the right racing line does. not for hours at a time, but as a relaxation tool (usually listening to some new music while i play - ingame music is, ahhh, repetitive).

if you currently own, and are whiny about, this game, i recommend turning off the minimap, setting the event crowd size to none (removes turn warning flags), changing the gear type to manual, and seeing how well you can do against yourself. you just might find some combo of track and car that satisfies in a big way, however subtly.

so, ahm, yeah. rant done. go chase some ghosts ;p

Recommended if you are looking for a racing game that is semi serious. This is not a simulation, nor is it an arcade game, it lies somewhere in the middle; Which is exactly what I was hoping for. There are so many things to consider, such as how the night, rain etc. affect the view up ahead and whether someone will bash into your bumper. These all add to the tension, just as you can bump someone off the road too.

Being someone who's got this game after a few patches and a recent content update I can tell you it's one of the best games on the PS4 right now and one of the best console racers I've played.

Let's take a step back from all of the reviews here and get this clear - Driveclub IS an arcade racer, that is immediately apparent on your first drive so if you're expecting a sim then wait for Project Cars or GT. If you want a casual racer that looks beautiful, has been built around an online experience and you aren't bothered that this game isn't trying to be a serious racer then you'll enjoy yourself - very much so.

Driving physics are relatively simple, cars brake quickly and turn very responsively. You can easily handle when it goes into a slide and you're rarely see yourself arse wrong way on the track. They don't feel heavy, it's like a mix between Ridge Racer and GRID.

The graphics, especially weather visuals are amazing - in this sense Driveclub is in a league of it's own and I think this has distorted peoples views on what this game was trying to be, despite is achieving a stunning realistic look it is still trying to be arcade at the core.

There are two points that lose the perfect 10 from me though and it has been mentioned a few times; the online racing is dirty and there is no motivation to try and take the corners properly. To give you a normal scenario, someone can just use you as a brake and usually come out of top to your frustration and it's something I sincerely hope is patched.

The online experience isn't bad now from a technical point; I've been kicked out of my session a few times but not often, but this for it's still shaky stability loses it a point. I'm impressed by how easy it is to use though and this does give it massive scope to improve.

You don't have the freedom to switch your traction off or to switch your stability control off, and I will get to that in a second. Some hot lap events will ask for a bit too much out of you in terms of lap times, and the same thing goes for the drifting events, which I will also get to in a second as well. Simply touching the wall will nearly completely drain your speed. I like to call it "velcro." The drifting -- though I'm pretty decent at it -- is beyond awful. In regards to the assists mentioned earlier, how is Evolution Studios going to have drift events with drift mechanics more broken than a shattered iPhone, not to mention that the stability and traction controls are locked on? Come on. Anyhow, the assists are just nitpicks, though do make life a bit more difficult during drift events. The game, again, is fun and addicting. I play it on a daily basis, and I love it. By the way, there are plenty of cars missing; you don't get the SRT Viper GTS, the Bugatti Veyron (neither the standard or Super Sport version), the Nissan GTR (or any Skyline at all), 370Z, the Ferrari LaFerrari, Enzo, F50, nor is there a single Lamborghini at all. At least there are brand-new cars like the McLaren P1, the Mercedes-AMG GTS, the Ferrari F12berlinetta, and a few others like the BMW M4 and the BMW M5 F10 update, but -- aside from some more cars -- that's about it. I personally enjoy it despite its flaws. Expand

Mediocre is what Driveclub is. We can't accept this as a good "next-gen" racing game, since it looks as limited as mobile games like Real Racing.

-Single player modes are way too generic and simple. You just click in a specific event that usually are one or two races where you must end in the top 3 and made a specific time. -You can't even customize your cars (besides the livery).

The car's stats are really poor, since you can't even compare the stats between the cars available, actually you are stuck with very simple bars.

-Game is far from a racing simulator, but its arcade style are also far from cool, thanks to the poor collision system. In 1997 games like San Francisco RUSH already had collision system better than the one you will find in this game. I mean, the cars are indestructible. Actually, sometimes you make turn faster when you are colliding you car in the wall than when you are trying to make a clean driving. There is a weird collision and off road penalty, it means that if there is a very violent collision against another car or if you leave the asphalt for too long, your car will get a speed penalty for some seconds, but the problem is: you never know when such a thing will happen, sometimes violent collisions don't result in any kind of penalty but sometimes they do.

-The "club" aspect of the game are useless to be honest. You never understand why you need to join a club, since all you get are specific cars that are only unlocked if you reach specifics "club level" and there specific tournament that you can only get into if are part of a club. Bu why do I need a "club level", or cars and events that I can only play if I joined a club, since club events are exactly the same of those ones I can play without a club? Sometimes you are playing a online racing between 8 drives. The game will say 4 of them are from team Blue, and the other ones are from team Red. Thats one of the most pointless things I have ever seen in a racing game, because its obvious that I don't care if the guy I'm trying to overtake is 'Red" or "Blue". The clubs aspects for me only proves that some developers are getting wrong the future of games. Many of them are going "co-op" or "social" only for the sake of it. Lets think about FIFA series. Football is a collective game, but in videogames its essentially a individual thing. Racing is a very individual thing and just don't fit a club or team game.

-The game lacks things that I consider very important in racing game. After that epic race that you won after defending yourself from a much faster driver, there is no replay at all. Not only that, but there is no stats: (we will never know who made the fastest lap or who was the one that reached the top speed. Also, your total time to complete the racing won't be recorded and used in the global ranking, so after the driving of your life you will never know how good you really was, since only single-player stats are used to compare the players around the world). After a multiplayer match all you get are points to increase your level and your club levels and fame, and other silly stats.

-The game is beautiful, specially the cars. The environment feels lifeless and generic tough.

-What really saves this games is its multiplayer modes, not because of the nonsensical club thing, but because its still funny to drive against players around the world, and at the end of the say its has a very big online community playing the game (not a surprise, considering its one of the few racing games available for ps4 players). But the servers are still not perfect, as write this review (january, 2015), its almost impossible to play more than 3 races in a row without losing contact with the lobby.

Conclusion: after a decent amount of playing time with Driveclub, I was really shocked when I realized there is almost nothing this game offers that wouldn't expect to find in a mobile game like Real Racing 3 or Asphalt 8. Its way too simple and minimalist to what was supposed to be the first big racing game for PS4.

Driveclub is a must-have for any PS4 racing fan. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys a good arcade racer. It’s challenging, but teaches you how to overcome every single one. Because of this, Driveclub is far more rewarding than its peers. This coupled with fantastic graphical fidelity, impressive sound design, and adrenaline-inducing sense of speed makes Driveclub one of the best racing games available on current-gen systems.

When you're on the track Driveclub is stunning to behold, but it's held back by a lack of event types. [Christmas 2014, p.74]

The sense of speed offered by Driveclub reminded me of the brilliant first GRID and I was having a lot of fun until I realized that cars are indestructible. Whether you stroke a wooden fence or smash into another vehicle at 300 km/h your car drives exactly the same afterwards. [Dec 2014, p.66]
