    Dreams is a beautiful gift for us all. Developed by the fantastic and talented studio Media Molecule, Dreams is a new way to experience video games and interactive media in this modern time.
    It is a sandbox of possibilities and imagination, a platform for players to express their ideas and thoughts and bring them to fruition. Over the last few months the amazing community that's been using    Dreams is a beautiful gift for us all. Developed by the fantastic and talented studio Media Molecule, Dreams is a new way to experience video games and interactive media in this modern time.
    It is a sandbox of possibilities and imagination, a platform for players to express their ideas and thoughts and bring them to fruition. Over the last few months the amazing community that's been using the early access have done just that, and now its been released to the rest of the world, dreams is only going to become bigger and grander than ever before, now that more people are getting their hands on these incredibly powerful tools.
    Don't expect your Triple A titles here though, there's no massive RPG's, FPS's or action games, with polished animations, voice acting and full campaigns, that's not whats on offer here. Though what has been created is truly mind blowing, considering everything that's been made has been done just using a PS4 controller and someones imagination. The creations range from mini games, art, music tracks, animations, the weird and wonderful, there are many demo's and homages paid to other IP's too, from Mario, Sonic, Dead Space, Fallout 4, Naruto, Sponge Bob, to all your favorite super heroes, the list is almost endless. All of these creations are easy to find too thanks to the NetFlix style menus that feel intuitive to use right away.
    The ease of use translates to the rest of dreams too, from the opening that gently teaches you the controls, of how to navigate using your glorified cursor in the shape of a cute customisable creature, called an Imp. Also the way all the creation tools have tutorials to help you find that new talent inside of you, that you may not have known you had, or the built in accessibility options to change controller types to movement speeds, giving players many options to find the most comfortable way to experience Dreams.
    There is so much to try it can feel overwhelming at times, but because of the smart inclusion of Imp Quests, which are mini tasks built into dreams that nudge you in the directions of the tools you may not have tried previously, gaining experience points for an overall level, and a title that represents your current play style, whether it's in music, sound design, animation, art, game design, curation and just playing, it feels satisfying and is constantly rewarding you for trying new things. There are jams too which give you a theme for a couple weeks to try and make something you wouldn't normally, and is then voted on by the community for some special recognition. All of these features helps keep things fresh and fun at all times.
    One of the biggest things that makes Dreams special is the community, everyone is extremely friendly, and the social side to dreams is always a positive and welcoming place for anyone who chooses to interact with it. Dreams encourages you to share your creations for others to reuse in their own creations, or to leave comments and feedback via Imp quests, creating a wonderful community. It extends to twitter, Facebook groups, Discord forums and an ever growing YouTube video catalogue. It even has its very own online app called indreams.me which is full of amazing features too, like being able to find Dreams or Dreamers and add any level to a play later list, that you can find when you log into dreams next, if you are logged in you can just launch a game or dream from your device right there and then, with minimal loading screens, this is all very impressive. There is also tips and guides for all the tools, and a section to report any bugs or general feedback.
    Media Molecule are always hard at work answering your questions, and finding ways to make dreams even better, with the promise of VR support and Multiplayer in the near future, it's going to be an interesting year ahead. With the amount of diverse things to do in dreams, you'll very rarely get board, and if one thing isn't quite working for you, then its so quick and easy to try something completely different, I can't recommend it enough.
    From playing the Media Molecule creations like Art's Dream, a feature length showcase of whats possible in Dreams, or experiencing all the weird and wonderful things players have made, to dipping your toes in the plethora of creation tools, it has something for everyone. The love and dedication Media Molecule has put into making this a solid and powerful tool really shines through. Now it's up to everyone to fill up the Dreamiverse with more crazy and imaginative ideas, and embrace the ever evolving gaming platform that is Dreams.    … Expand

    Dreams is a creative achievement, with it’s ability to be charm full and allow players to make there own levels, games, music and so on. Unfortunately the only problem is making those creative games and levels, its very frustrating and hard even annoying at times, only people with patience and skill will achieve such things. Dreams is a simple concept build and share or play and share, it has so much charm put into it and so much love I just wish if the building mechanic was more welcoming to newcomers.     In this game there are 2 different main modes. “Dreams Shaping” and “Dreams Surfing”.

    In Dreams Shaping you have the possibility to create whatever your mind wants to make. It’s much easier sculpting and doing logic in dreams compared to Unreal Engine 4 or Unity. Dreams removes the scary coding part and simplifies it with special blocks. There are a lot of tutorials in the game that allow you to learn what each thing does and how to use it. It helps a lot with learning and you will be able to make something special at the end of it. The tutorials aren’t borring. They encourage you to do stuff in your own way. Choose your own colours. Make your own strange shapes. Anything is possible in dreams.
    Dreams Surfing is selfexplanitory. You can surf the creations others have made. Play Animations, Games, Showcases and so much more! It’s a blast. You will also find a game called “Arts Dream”. It’s an epic story game made by the creators of Dreams (Media Molecule). They used all the same tools we have access to in Dreams Shaping. I’ll won’t spoil anything. Play the game for yourself to find out what it’s about.

    Es simplemente increíble. Las herramientas que te ofrece te dan posibilidades básicamente infinitas para la creación y realización de tus ideas. Es un juego perfecto para todo aquel que tenga un lado artístico y disfrute del diseño, composición y sobre todo de entender un poco como se construye un videojuego.

    A gem that not a lot of people will play, and I'm ok with that . I want to say they're missing out, but at the same time they're really not. A lot of unique creations by users, that will keep people who enjoy short 2-3 minute games ( for the most part..there are some exceptions obviously) coming back daily or weekly to check out new games made by the community. I think the diversity of community creations is what's really amazing, from remakes of games, to driving, combat, music, art, scenes, sports, mini-games, the games are endless. It's really like a youtube for games, they weren't lying. The only negatives of this game are hit and miss quality of user created content, which is really not that bad because of the trending and most liked games that are front and center when you surf user generated conent. Who this game is not for is for people expecting 30 minute- 2 hour games made by the community/ or triple a content made by them... its not realistic, so this game is probably not for you. As someone who mainly just plays the game and doesn't create, game is amazing to me.

    Pros:
    Story mode is short, unique, and has a fantastic ending.
    Youtube for short user created games
    Every genre for games imaginable.
    It will only get better as time goes

    So-So:
    Creation tool still feels overwhelming for me.

    Cons:
    Hit or miss ugc.
    short games and mostly demos.

    To end, Kudos to sony for giving the game a shot, it's amazing and even though it won't sell well.. I think the it was worth the investment for the gamers. When you play this game, prepared to be inspired, amazed, laugh, relax, etc. Amazing game.. but not for everyone.    … Expand

    If you do want to make games, this is the best game creation tool since Gary Kitchen's Gamemaker. No prior coding experience is necessary! Best of all, you can make pieces of things, like music, a background, or a    You don't have to be a game maker. Playing the games made in Dreams is a joy all its own. No corporate b.s., just pure creativity expressed with some easy to use tools.

    Really? This game isn't bad, but it isn't good. Average, i'll say.
    First of all, how this game became top1 on metacritic? What makes it special? I've spent some money on it, and i still didn't get it.
    Meanwhile, some REALLY good games having at least 60-65 score, like Fallout 4, Death Stranding, The Humankind Odyssey and etc.

    Though game to rate. If you're into this kind of stuff it's definitely 10/10, if you're not into creating and expect great games you'll probably looking at a 6-7/10. If you're something in between and you want ocassionaly check what are new, unique lindielike games than you'll safely get 8-9/10 from Dreams

    When I first started Dream Shaping tutorials, it was a struggle. But as I advanced through the tutorials it just started to being a painful experience. I mean literally, my hands started to get cramps, my shoulders tired. I just want to connect a kb/m to my PS4 and build my creations but the developers enforces motion controls.    This game needs keyboard/mouse support as soon as possible.

    Dream surfing feature is almost perfect though. If you just want to play creations, you won't have many of these issues.

    But if this gets an update for supporting kb/m on Dream Shaping, I'll change my score to 9 or even 10.    … Expand

    What can you say about this … the youtube of games? Just ridiculous that this is even possible I’m mesmerized by the genuine quality of the creations people have made and I can only imagine what this will become. They said streaming was the future of games? Nah it’s this, this is the future of games. Absolute masterpiece!

    I don´t underlook any type of dev software because it can be a powerful tool for very creative people. But like any gaming editor creating is not for all. And like mention in other reviews you´ll have a lot of clunky suff created from brats who are only undertanding and experimenting just to leave it after a while.     Una campaña bastante corta, ese es su único punto negativo... por todo lo demas es de lo mejor que he jugado ultimamente, la musica es muy disfrutable... pasando de unas piezas en jazz bastante relajantes hasta un nivel con buen Metal, de verdad que hizo en falta mas historia,..

    The negative reviews complained about the complexity of creating something (which should be expected when it includes essentially an entire video game development software suite and you can literally create ANYTHING), but neglected to admit they may have been better suited to just enjoy the experiences created by other people. Like any artform, the skills necessary to create interactive experiences requires dedication, it is an endeavor that takes far more time to get good at than people might expect. If you find out you don't have the patience, no worries, you have an infinite amount of content to experience as a player.

    One of the best things about Dreams is what's called Dream Surfing. You pick tags of the kind of things you are interested in seeing, click a button, and are instantly transported to an experience. If you don't particularly care for what you are seeing from one experience, just pause and click the next button. Each experience loads in about 1-2 seconds, so you can quickly experience a wide variety of creations.

    Like many fans of the company who made LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway, I bought the game digitally through early access. I hate to see that the game is missing out on hundreds of five star reviews because of this, which may eventually impact its sales for the physical version. Media Molecule had worked on this game for 6 years and incredibly generous with the $40 original price. This game is worth so much more than that, you won't regret buying something that has infinite content.    … Expand

    I'll give it a 4 because anyways the rate system on this page seems to be broke, I bought the game digital because of all the 10s and I dont know if people is really loving this game or they're just not being honest but I regret so much buying into the hype.     Ever thought of making your own video game? Or an explainer video? Or music? With just your controller as your creative device. This game is that and soo much more. It really does bring out the creative side in everyone even if you think you aren’t talented at all (just like I do). Highly recommend this to everyone.

    It is a VERY cool game and art development tool. However messing around in the editor is the most fun I've had with this game and having to use the motion controls on the dual shock just makes me wish it was on PC (or at least have mouse/keyboard support).

Some of them obviously have had a lot of long hours from some talented people, but even the best games have pretty bad platforming, horrible hit detection, annoying camera controls etc. Making something like Art's Dream in the tool obviously will take hundreds if not thousands of hours, and even that was about 2 hours long and a lot of the platforming was pretty meh.    … Expand

    I was hoping to create the game I had in mind on dreams but it turns out that dreams is more of a painting of cartoons and acts like your a little child, I could not create the game I wanted to create and the tools at hand are very frustrating to use in the game and it has left me extremely disappointed and leaves a bad starts for 2020.

    Dreams is 2 things: A very sofisticate software that allows you to create tons of things: music, art, dioramas, and even entire games; and also is a searcher for other people creations, their music, characters and games. Its amazing what Media Molecule achieve with this, its something that you should definitively try.

    For what it is and for the fairly low prize (which was the reason I bought it, without waiting for a sale), after around 6 hours play and some YouTube videos watched, I say it nails it's genre. Enjoyed LBP as well. It already has a creative community but is a complex game, so it's strenght is that there's already well made games to start with.

    Kupiłem i się zdziwiłem jak rozbudowany jest DREAMS. Świetnie zrobione tutoriale, które wprowadzają nas w świat marzeń. Fajnie by było jakby zrobili obsługę myszki, bo klawiaturę obsługuje, ale nawet na padzie nie jest źle, tylko trzeba się troszkę przyzwyczaić. Dla mnie zasłużona maksymalna ocena, to program dla ludzi z wyobraźnią ;)

    Dreams’ story mode is called Art’s Dream, which tells the tale of double bass player Art, who had left his band due to personal issues, now fighting his demons in, you guessed it, a dream. While the story is much more mature than any other game they’ve made, its certainly not dark, with the implementation of protagonists being childhood toys, musical theatre, and multiple humorous parts here and there. The well thought out level design and the ever-changing genres of Art’s Dream makes the 2-3 hour story fly by. Its not short to a fault, as its only a demo to what Dreams is capable of, encouraging you to create your own story mode.

    The biggest part about what makes Dreams so revolutionary is its creation system. The tools you are provided surpasses any other creation games potential by a large margin. Thanks to this, you are capable of creating practically anything you can think of, as long as you know how to do it. Want to make a first person shooter? Cool. Want to create a musical performance? No problem. Want to create something absolutely bizarre? Go ahead! It is true that this game can be overwhelming in the amount of tools and potential at your fingertips. I have often been blinded by my own ambition to only lead myself into staring at an empty canvas for 5 minutes straight, not knowing where to start. However, the reason for this was because I was too ambitious with my projects. Once I slowly built my ambitions up from something smaller, I felt unstoppable. While this likely won’t happen for everyone, this is something to keep in mind. Thankfully, Media Molecules carefully created tutorials helps newcomers ease into the creation suite, as their pace remains constantly steady, and are a joy to go through. If you need help from friends, or even strangers, you can add them as collaborators to help you out in building your Dreams. This means that it is possible to create your own little game studio in Dreams, or you can borrow the assets created by other dreamers to use in your own, which gives off a spectacular feel of community within Dreams.

    If you feel too overwhelmed by creating or if you simply don’t wish to do that, don’t worry, as there is dream surfing, which is essentially the YouTube of video games. You can explore the dreams of others with a single press of a button, whether that be visual spectacles, musical pieces, gaming demos, or even full gaming experiences. Don’t know what to try out first? Try the auto-surfing feature, as it will randomly select dreams for you to try out, and keeps selecting them for you until you quit out of it. The user interface is very slick and user-friendly, allowing you to comment on other peoples creations, whether that be a discussion, feedback, bug reports, or reviews, you can view what other assets people used to make their masterpiece, and you can even view the previous versions of the creation if that interests you. Dream-surfing is an experience that you truly have to try for yourself in order to understand.

    All-in-all, Dreams revolutionizes the “Play, Create, Share” concept by expanding it to a degree no game has ever went. Thanks to easy-to-grasp tutorials, a MASSIVE creation suite, a genuinely interesting story mode, and lots of content to see created by the community, Media Molecule has essentially given us a game engine to let us flex our creativity to make experiences of our own.     Dreams is a very good creative game with a sprawling community full of new games to play, and if you love to create stuff this will be the place for you, but don't expect a long campaign because it's not very story focused and if you don't have the creative spirit yiu probably won't like it

    The creation tools in dreams blew me away and they made learning their engine addictively fun. There are several games available that are really well made already and I can’t wait to see what this community produces as more people become comfortable with the engine. Add in VR and online multiplayer support and this will be a must have!

A true, next generation of Play, Create and Share. Dreams continues to prove that Media Molecule is still pioneering the type of genre really well. While Dreams offers somewhat of a different take on creation game compared to their previous games such as LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2 and their iconic Sackboy being replaced by Imp, you cannot deny that the create mode, or DreamShaping mode as it's stated in Dreams has been massively improved and quadrupled the possibilities of what you can create. Dreams allows you to sculpture anything you want, compose any music you want, make movies, games. You name it, you can dream it. Because of ingeniously developed engine specifically for this game loading times are blazingly fast and almost seemless between scenes putting LBP2 and especially LBP3 to shame.

    While yes, the story mode in this game is pretty short, lasting for about 2-3 hours, the Art's Dream is beautifully hand crafted with very good writing and fun songs in between playable sections of the game and it generally shows just how much Dreams is capable with its tools. In the end, story modes in the previous Mm games were always about showing the possibilities of the game creation tools and Dreams is no different.

    There's plenty of criticism regarding Dreams not even having a promised a VR support on day one, some people are even put off hearing that Dreams still doesn't have online multiplayer, which was a literal game changer for LBP. While, yes, justifiable arguments, you have to take into consideration that this is a brand new IP and it took 7 years straight just to get the incredible creation tools to work the way they do now.

    Another misconception about the game is that it's strictly for the creators only, which is also not true, because you can have equally as much fun by playing countless of other creations made by other people which are going to get better quality over time. Add the VR support and online multiplayer on top of it, and you will get a complete package for many years to come that's gonna be a major part of Dreams and it's community as a whole.    … Expand

They have our creativity and control in the player, to literally do whatever they can think up! They allowed the player to be a kid, and just “dream”! Incredible game.     There is no reason not to give this game a perfect score. its essentially the most user friendly game development tool. you still need to be able to use logics but no code needed and there is a lot of pre made things for you to use. or you can just play other peoples creations if you don't want to create your one. anyone who dislikes this game is objectively wrong

    Dreams’ creative mode might not integrate with PSVR as naturally as hoped, but its cemented position as a hub of invention makes it an easy recommendation. Paired with the platform’s inherent comfort issues, its sprawling, untamed ecosystem can prove to be a minefield to navigate, but for every unwelcome rollercoaster ride (literally and figuratively), there’s another wish waiting to be fulfilled or something genuinely original to discover. The only way to truly judge Dreams is by the strength of its creations and those already speak for themselves; if you want to embrace VR’s experimental side, you shouldn’t miss it.
