The thing I want to praise the most about Doom: Eternal is it's diverse environments and the enormous expansion to the lore of this universe. Every new planet, dimension and level looks beautiful, especially Taras Nabad and Urdak. The Slayer is an amazing character that was expanded a lot in Eternal with a complete backstory and awesome interactions, I loved collecting everything so that I could learn about this universe.

The weapons, enemies and bosses are great. The Marauder is awesome and it makes me want to see more of him in the future. I recommend Doom: Eternal a lot. If you like fast paced FPSs you should definitely give it a go.

    This game is amazing.

Instead of in most FPS games, where you play as... a army man, in doom, you play as this badass green guy who goes to hell and slices demons in half with a gun that is also a chainsaw. It’s just way more unique than other FPS games. This also is reflected in the gameplay. In games like call of duty, what you do is find some cover, shoot some guys, find more cover

In doom, you are jumping all over the map, getting in demon’s faces, and just absolutely demolishing them. It does a service to the classic doom games that pioneered the first person shooter genre while not dwelling on the past. It’s just a super fun game. I’d recommend anyone to get this game, but I personally think the best way to play it is on the PC version, with a controller, with gyro aiming. (Not as much the switch version though. That one has gyro aiming built in, but it probably runs like crap, because it’s the switch version)

Playing this game is a complete shot of pure adrenaline, there were times that I had to take off my shirt to play since my fingers moved so fast that I even had to make some rest times when playing. The narrative has some problems and presents certain beginner errors, but it is not something serious in itself and it does not hinder the story nor does it make it so bad. Combat is the best of the game, fast frenzy and fun, when you really play you feel in the slayer's shoes, since you will not have time to think, what is recommended is that you learn what the weak points of the enemies are, since each weapon affects each enemy differently, which is perfect, however it takes some getting used to the controls at first, but then it's worth it. As for the content of the game, it is quite extensive, with many missions, many collectibles (if not too many), among which there are toys, history information pages, music discs, etc. The game also has two expansions for the story of which one has already come out and the second is possible that it will come out in early 2021, the expansion is quite fun, somewhat shorter than the initial campaign, but it is not bad at all. And finally, the game has a multiplayer mode, for which it is not even necessary to have the base game to play it, the problem is the pairing, it is possible that being lvl 27 you will be paired with people who have been playing since day 1, something for which it is not easy to dedicate hours to this game mode. In summary, DOOM ETERNAL is one of the best video game experiences of the year, in case of a new confinement due to the coronavirus it is highly recommended, time will pass really quickly. Expand

Doom eternal improves pretty much everything that doom 2016 did. Better enviroments, great combat variety, an anwsome soundtrack, movement is greatly improved with the added dash ability. You are always on a constant rush to rip and tear every enemy.

I do have some issues with the game though. The platforming sections slow the pacing of the game down, and the story is not very good.

However these issues are not really a problem because Doom Eternal offers a wide rage of replay value. Collectables are fun to find and the multiplayer is good too. Definitely an amazing follow up to one of the best games of the generation.

The Doomguy is back, full of anger, lust to eviscerate demons and wanting to show off his impressive gymnastic skills that can rival a soviet gymnast.
Technically this game is solid as the Hell's gates and on PS5 is really a pleasure to play, with the last patch you can choose now between ray tracing or 4K resolution , frame rate is always stable no matter how many rockets, demon limbs

The campaign has the perfect duration and takes you through levels with a completely different atmosphere, medieval inspired ,alien, hellish, etc. while blowing up the classical doom demons and some few new ones. The difficult level is really well adjusted and every one apart from the easiest is challenging and rewarding.
The structure of the game is basically the same as with the Doom 2016, traversing an intricate level with arenas full with demons while searching for collectibles/upgrades.
Eternal has filled up the space between arenas with platforming sections to break the monotony and they are interesting but I personally disliked them because for me they did not fit the ambience well and were just places to potentially lost a live or get your armour/health reduced before the next arena.

Due to my personal taste this game is a step below 2016 because I liked the tone, music, demon design and atmosphere there more, closer to the horrific Doom3. Eternal has more Doom2/Quake3 vibes with a more vivid colour palette. Also some new demons like the Marauders are interesting to fight the first 3 times you cross them, but the 14th time they are just annoying and break the combat flow.

Nevertheless is an excellent boomer shooter that you should not let pass.

P.D: It's a pity that due MS consolidation and the buy of Zenimax I will not be able to play future titles of the saga :(

It's been a while since I played an Action FPS game before, so playing DOOM Eternal felt refreshing.
Being my first DOOM game, DOOM Eternal was a complicated but interesting experience.

While the story is trying to take itself seriously and it really doesn't work, it's not an important part of the game anyway.
The gameplay is where DOOM Eternal truly shines; it's extremely smooth, running at 60 fps even on consoles, it's fast-paced and very diverse, from the wide variety of weapons to the resource management. It gets a bit frustrating at times but once you understand how everything works, it plays like a dream and it's undoubtedly one of the highlights of the game.
Another highlight of the game is the music; it feels like it's part of the gameplay, and it's awesome!
Also, the graphics and the audio design are amazing too.
Despite being a solid FPS game though, DOOM Eternal features platforming elements, however, they're not executed well; there's too much unnecessary platforming.

    Pros:
+ Exciting, fluid & challenging gameplay
    + Fantastic music
    + Beautiful visuals

    Cons:
    - Very weak narrative
    - Excessive amount of platforming

    - Great -
DOOM Eternal might look like a typical FPS game but the fast flow of the combat and the resource management make it a one-of-a-kind FPS experience.

    Do I recommend it?:

DOOM Eternal is hands down not only the best shooter of 2020 but probably the best shooter we've seen since Bethesda's revival of the DOOM series back in 2016. The gameplay is faster and more graphic than ever with new weapons and creative ways to get around the maps both when it comes to exploration and combat.

This game is an adrenaline rush beginning to end. My only complaint is that the platforming in this game almost universally sucks & I winced every time I came to another platforming section. Story was a lot better than the 2016 Doom imo as well.

What it does the best is giving you a plethora of guns and making each and every one of them optimal for one or two uses, meaning to stay alive while dozens of demons are chasing you, quick, clever, decisions have to be made constantly about which gun and attachment to use. Jumping and dashing around the well crafted arenas at high pace and murdering demons feeds into a great sense of power, but the platforming in between fight sections is a bit of a bore. There is a very high skill ceiling for this game, so for those who are good at shooters can stick around and have a lot of fun getting better, and eventually mastering the Nightmare difficulty. My biggest gripe with this game is definitely ammo, of which there is rarely enough of in harder difficulties, and with no auto regeneration, you're going to have to be very good at conserving it. Doom Eternal is very great. This is the first fast paced fps game I've played and this is a very good starting point. When the game slowed down I was awestruck by the detail on the environments, and it was electrifying was watching the body parts and guts of demons pour out of them. The only problems with it is that I needed to create a Bethesda account without even playing the multiplayer and the couple of audio and visual glitches. Also this might just be a me thing but I played on Ultra Violence and there were some levels that felt unfair but again, that might just be a me thing. Anyway, Doom Eternal is a great game that I completely recommend. Expand

Doom Eternal lost the frenzied simplicity of its predecessor. There are new mechanics that are uncesesaary, and even boring. The levels aren't as clever as the original, the exploration is a drag and, God forbid, there's even platforming. After a few sessions, you realize that eternal is inferior to its previous iteration on every aspect. I regret buying it.

The gameplay is beautiful crafted to throw varying types of enemies, requiring you to use your whole arsenal of weapons. The gunplay fused with the level design and wonderful soundtrack create a true shoot-em-up first person experience. 90% of the game is shooting, upgrading, stabbing, rinse and repeat, all of which flow nicely. The other 10% has to do with the annoying jump puzzles. I died a lot because I am trash and it ruined the constant craze of dumb fun I was looking for. I also found there really isnt any reason to return to the game once I finished the campaign. The multiplayer was a decent attempt but it was anything worth investing time into. You do keep your upgrades from previous playthroughs and continue to upgrade them but, the single player gameplay doesnt change so all thats remains is to hunt for collectibles and complete mini challenges. I found the campaign to be short for a franchise that is historical a single player experience. There is no need to understand prior DOOM lore, which makes DOOM Eternal an excellent entry into the franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Stupidly Difficult jumps , some bad level design and stupid shield enemy like madura that requires timing = annoying game for disabled people epecially the jump in urdak that requires you to jump from coffin to coffin and shoot a target. I paid for a shooter not a platforming game. They should go back to the great design from doom 1. Sure the game is faster , maybe more complex but if jumps etc ruin someone progress and stops them for over 30 -40 minutes it means the level is badly designed. Also the combat sometimes is to much and the new secret encounter garbage is annoying as hell to complete sometimes. Finally what is the point of in game rewards /cheats if you need to beat levels first to use them? ----- Stupid jumps ruined this game. Update changing score from 5 to 7 cause it was still a good game. I just played it the wrong time straight after doom 1. Some of the stuff in doom 2 was good like the giant boss at end too. Expand

Good game, but not the direction I wanted DOOM to go. There are blatant arena-shooter setpieces with hoards of enemies and no cover so you are forced to run around, grapple and grab armor and ammo to try to survive the area you are in. Some people may like this, and some may not.
