There really are no excuses for this 30FPS port.

It barely runs better than the last generation versions on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and doesn't even match the original version on PC at max settings. As well as not looking as good as it should, it runs at 30fps and drops below that at times. There are audio issues prevalent when viewing cut-scenes and other minor technical issues.

With this in mind, my PC that would be good in 2010 (but below average by today's standards) can run this game at maxed settings at 1080p and 60fps. (GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz.) This hardware is much weaker than the PS4's hardware - so why does it succeed where the PS4 doesn't? It is simply because of a lazy port, there is no other reason. Do not support this new trend of remastering last generation games that don't run as well as they should.

The game itself is great. Get it on PC because your PC could probably run it better than your PS4.

I haven't played this game in PS3, so it was a good thing that this is also for PS4.
(I don't own the old gen console anymore)
This game is one of the best games I've played.
I see that peoples give low score because this isn't 'Definitive', but I read the comments carefully
and I think that this game is not as bad as the user reviews will tell.

This game has a great story, and is overall fun to play. I am going to replay it after I beat the DLCs. The biggest problem with this game is that the graphics aren't greatly improved, but they are better on the PS4. This isn't a big problem for me and I bought it on sale, so to get the amount of content for what I payed for was a great deal.

The game is stylish and fun, but the improvement is not quite noticeable. For those who haven't played Dishonored in ps3 or xbox 360, they should give it a try.

Absolutely love this game. Very original gameplay, lets you tackle situations in a number of ways. This is where the real difficulty of the game lies, trying to find a non-bloody solution to all encounters. The special abilities are also crazy fun to use which include blinking (teleportation), possession and time stopping are some of the bigger abilities given. This game is not linear, as the zones are big and you're encouraged to explore. I do wish it would let you revisit certain areas after you completed a mission but this isn't a deal-breaker as it does make the game highly re-playable.

Note that I only played the PS4 edition. Read some of the other reviews and I'm just surprised at the number of negative rants on this game. If the graphics aren't a big upgrade over the PC edition, then so what?! The game looks really good, it has a nicely rendered pre-industrial atmosphere circa 1890. Also so much life is given to all characters, including enemies, as you hear the conversations between thugs, soldiers etc. Reminds me a bit of Bioshock when playing the audio recordings. And to top it all, the story is really entertaining. In any case if you have never played the PS3 or PC edition, and like games like Thief and Bioshock, then give this one a try.

I'm a little late to the party here for Dishonored but I'll quickly give my thoughts here.

Good: Really fun and smooth combat, love how you can use to weapons at once. The powers are great and fun but you really don't need all of them to complete the game, they really could've done more things to make your powers feel useful. The story is fantastic, very interesting and makes you care

The story is fantastic, very interesting and makes you care about the characters. The stealth aspect is also great but i have a complaint about that later. The game also does a great job of building its world with notes left around and various collectables for replayability.

Bad: Ok so what i HATE about this games is that its very hard to not kill every single guard. For example, you alert one guard by himself, then he alerts every damn guard on the level you fight you, next thing you know its a blood bath with 10 dead soldiers on the ground. It makes it really hard to be stealthy, plus there have been times where i've been spotted and take damage around and through corners. Lastly the graphics are quite poor for this 'definitive edition' plus it feels like there is barely anything new.

Overall the Good vastly outweighs the bad and it still makes for an fantastic game that is quite short and can be completed in no time.

I had it on ps3 with all DLC and without any doubt Dishonoured is one of the best games I have ever played.

Its an all round classic, great gameplay, great customisation, and a story that few games will beat, the imagination they pump into this will keep you hooked. And the best part is, whatever type of gamer you are, you will probably find tonnes of enjoyment:
Do you like storming in chopping off arms, legs and heads while shooting guns and tossing bombs? you can! Do you like to spend 3 hours travelling 30 yards, knocking people out with a steam-punkesque crossbow and tranq darts with perfect stealth? you can!

Seriously if you're in it for the enjoyment and not about dissecting every technical aspect of a game and don't have a prev gen console just buy it!, you'll get more than your money's worth and the DLC is just as awesome as the main game.

DO NOT let these knit-picking reviews put you off. For me it's one of bethesda's best and most creative stories, with stunning settings (yes even on prev gen) and unparalleled creativity.

10/10 - you will not regret buying it!

This is really a fantastic game. Everything Thief (2014) should have been.

The first time I tried to play Dishonored I thought I was meant to use all the guns, grenades and such and run into every enemy sword drawn. I absolutely hated it, a boring combat game. Then I read the reviews about why the game is so well liked, and they all said one or both of two things: Great stealth.

Then I read the reviews about why the game is so well liked, and they all said one or both of two things: Great stealth. Thousands of ways to complete each level.

This made me think, and I decided to go back to the game. I did my absolute best to avoid all use of weapons. Only to choke enemies from behind, rendering them unconscious but not dead, and to develop my possession ability, and my Dark Vision. Holy carp. It was a different game entirely!
I began to sneak around so enemies wouldn't see me at all, thus improving my chances of never having to battle at all. I strategized about how to navigate maps and get into buildings without anyone seeing me, sometimes I used blink up through rooftops, sometimes I used possession to become a rat and sneak through vents and past peolle (avoiding them trying to stamp on me). Sometimes I use traqualiser darts or choke holds and carried away sleeping bodies before patrolling guards came back.

    I love this game!

There's a great video showing 30 completely unique and cool ways of killing the last 'boss' on youtube that brilliantly details how diverse this game is and how many ways there are of doing things, but obviously I won't post it as it's sort of a spoiler. But bear in mind, there's tons to explore, hidden eastereggs and unique paths and a few side missions that many repeat players haven't even come across.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fun stealth/action game that makes great use of the game mechanics while building a interesting world & story around it. What's nice is that the game emphasizes stealth & non-lethal actions (the best ending comes when you kill as little as possible) while the abilities & magical effects (from teleportation to slowing time) add a nice dimension to the action. It can get a bit frustrating at times though that is somewhat remedied by being able to save whenever you can (the game itself does advise you to save often). Overall, a nice just of pace in FPS games. Expand

The Definitive Edition isn't the biggest remaster overhaul you're going to find on the market either, but when the release is so full of A+ content it doesn't matter.
My ONLY fault with this version of Dishonored, while a novel idea, the Heart whisper only plays through the controller speaker, so when you only play wearing a headset it negates the ability to hear the whispers.

It is linear in the sense that the game progresses through the story, but levels are wide open and have more than a few ways to complete them. Considering that this game used a slightly cartoony or caricature type style, the graphics hold up surprisingly well even after a few years. The gameplay is the same but still quite smooth and allows for stealth or action, whatever you prefer.

I played this on the PS3 and yet still picked up this new edition on sale because this game is really that good. Gameplay, art style, and story all meshed into one cohesive hole. The world is very immersive in a steam punk/fantasy environment. It's awesome and will be considered as one of the greats like Half-life, Halo, and Doom are today. Pick it up and you won't be disappointed. If you played the hell out of this game on the PS3 though, it might not be worth a pick up as there is nothing new at all here. Despite that, I'm scoring the game itself here, and it holds up very well. It's better than a lot of the crap recently released actually.

I don't know maybe my taste in games have changed since then. I was kind of kicking myself because a friend of mine kept telling me I need to buy Dishonored 2 and I told him I never played the original so he says "it doesn't matter, you don't need to". Given my OCD this really bothered me but I went ahead and bought D2. I had no idea this was the case but a Dishonored Difinitive Edition psn code was inside Dishonored 2's case! I flipped out. I get to play them in order! Well I finally finished it and I gotta say the stealth in this game doesn't quite compete with the likes of Metal Gear or Syphon Filter, but for a FPS stealth game it is exceptional. Play as Corvo and uncover the conspiracy that has you framed for murdering an Empress. Do you wan't to leave a trail of blood or play as a merciful assassin? It is up to you, play as you please. Once you beat it try going back and doing the opposite. It feels like a whole new game. I know I am way late to the party on this one but if for some reason you are still on the fence try it out. It is definitely worth the $20.00 (I'm pretty sure it's that cheap now) it costs, and keep in mind if you buy Dishonored 2 (also a fantastic game) the first dishonored comes with it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Dishonored is a GOD tier stealth game. This game has a powerful atmosphere. Set in a retro-tech, apocalyptic Victorian inspired world, you play as Corvo Attano. A man framed for the death of the empress and kidnapping of Emily, her daughter. He escapes prison and is granted supernatural powers by an ancient, powerful spirit.

He embarks on a brutal quest for revenge. Armed with unfathomable power, he seeks vengeance towards those who ruined his life...

The stealth element is the crowning glory of the game. You can scale buildings quickly and fluidly like a ninja, run across rooftops, walk on drain pipes, crawl though ventilation and the like. You can be one with the shadows. You can preform stealth kills and take down or engage in open combat, unleashing a whirlwind of arrows and blades.

You have an arsenal of imaginative and ingenious tools at your disposal. How you use them is up to you and your ingenuity.

This edition of Dishonored contains smoother graphics and all of the downloadable content readily available.

    Pros:
    Good combat
Great stealth mechanic, feels very satisfying.
    Atmospheric setting, rich in lore.
Dialog between characters is good and well executed.
    Interesting story with multiple endings
    Great replay value

    Cons:
Character models could of been better
Option of playing 3rd person would been cool
    Multiplayer would have been nice

It is still the Dishonored I remember, but the FOV is terrible and I don`t understand why there is a 30FPS lock. I still recommend Dishonored for everyone, because even if the FOV is terrible and the 30Fps lock is on it is still a great game. In Norway the game costs 400 kr which is 48$, and for me that is a great price for a game that also contains all of its Dlc`s.

If you've never played it before, then I absolutely recommend it 110%. I would say this edition is personally for the ones who either missed out on the whole package or just all of the DLCs (like me), rather than those who still have access to the game and have played everything before (you'd pick this up for an absolute bargain now, a seriously amazing game with 2/3 fantastic DLCs - 'Trials of Dunwall' is nowhere near up to the standard of the rest of the package but that seems very insignificant when you're getting an amazing overall package).

First of all, there is no new content or any changes made to the game, other than a layer of polish, which is very noticeable when you run the PS3 version side by side with this new version. Also, I was very happy to see once you wake up from the Outsider's dream, all of the cool loot and runes which were DLC add-on's are waiting right there for you; giving you extra in-game money to spend early on and a bunch of useful runes, as well as the ability to use more than just 3 runes (you get five now to start) at a time to begin.
The DLC add-on levels, "The Dunwall City Trials", and the missions where you get to play the assassin Daud, in "The Knife of Dunwall" & "The Brigmore Witches" are really nice, but the only incentive to re-play is the high level of polish.
Unless you're a die-hard Dishonored fan and if you've already played through the game before, you might not be excited enough to go back into Corvo's world, but should you choose to, you'll be treated to the ultimate Dishonored experience. All the rough edges and nasty textures have been retouched, and the frame rate is buttery smooth. Dishonored is an amazing game, and although the remaster isn't anything new, it's definitely a good remaster; especially at $40, it's an incredible bargain of an adventure at that price. I'd recommend it to ANYone who loves stealth-based single-player games; an excellent game!

Or even forget about any stealth and complete the game as a good action.

This isn't really fair. 30fps versus 60fps really is not the deal breaker some people are making it out to be. To my eyes this game looks and plays as well as, if not better than, the PS3 version, and - it's a great game! If you're interested in fun and gameplay then I'd probably go by the PS3 review since the PS4 one is heavily biased by people unhappy that this isn't a rewrite from the ground up with new assets etc. The bottom line is this: it's a great, fun, game. Dishonored was an incredible accomplishment—a game that offered stylish murder and great storytelling in equal measure. It accomplished everything that it set out to do and made it look easy, while games all around it failed to impress. Three years later, nothing in its genre has come close.

I regret not having played Dishonored when it originally came out, because the Definitive Edition looks like time has been standing still for the last three years, at least when the PS4 version (which does not offer 60 fps, by the way) is concerned. [11/2015, p.52]

Dishonored: Definitive Edition is (still) a very imaginative and exciting action-adventure. Stealth is rarely this varied and interesting. [Oct 2015]
