It is annoying and unnecessary. The characters are very weird, and the fact we can personalize makes it difficult to identify ourselves. This game clearly can go back to its origins, take some things out Pokemon and evolve. Expand

    Cool Game! Looks Great!
The Battle System is a real let down, especially after playing Cyber Sleuth which is so much better in terms of battle system and all around mechanics.

I hesitate giving this game a high score. I love this game don't get me wrong but I honestly could not recommend it to my friends that aren't Digimon fans running on nostalgia.

The music is nice, but the entire overworld running to the same beat doesn't work for me. I played Digimon World to get into their World. To hear those sounds of the jungle and the sounds of the night. It's the little things this game doesn't have that make me really sad. How hard would it have been to record a fake Digital World night? Crickets and some digimon calls and some low low piano music or the sounds of the ocean or the sounds of grass blowing. I can see that love went into this game, but it was the little things that made Digimon World 1 a success for centuries and kept it in our hearts. I'm 27 turning 28 and I still to this day pick up my game and play it.

I can maybe forgive that the training is literally the Digimon standing there while you spam the button and they get tired for no reason (really I miss those training animations even though you could skip them), but what I find unforgivable is that horrible excuse for a fishing minigame. How did that pass quality inspection? It looks like someone made it in flash. Or worse. Paint and they just pressed the arrow keys back and forth. Even the first game (made for PS1 more than a decade ago) treated fishing like a real relaxing event - to enjoy the scenery. And all those amazing secrets hidden in plain sight! Wondering what is that dark shadow in the water.. but this one plays more like a spammy MMO and has all the characters that can join your city super obvious. They tell you exactly what they need.

I'm enjoying the game, but it doesn't leave me feeling like I just visited another world. I don't miss my Digimon. There's less of an impact on me when they die. And what is that clock thing... why didn't they bring back the old clock? Now we get this clock that everytime I look at it it brings me back into my own world. I guess I'm speaking from a nostalgic point of view, but that's exactly what this game panders to. If they're trying to bring people into the fold that have never played Digimon before, they should've fixed the little things. Especially right now because Digimon Tri is airing and people love it.

Please patch these issues and I will change my review in a heartbeat. Show us you care. Put in some hidden things and don't just have everyone standing there. Remember Vadermon? I remember passing by there so many times wondering what the heck that was.. and that Teddymon suit? There was mystery in the adventure that this game doesn't have. I feel let down. Also really... the potty covering was unnecessary. Did someone get offended by that? Everytime that happens I feel like someone slapped me in the face. Would it have been so hard to animate a curtain and the Digimon simples pulls it to cover themselves?

This game is Digimon World, but it plays more like Digimon World MMO On A Budget with an expansion pack called They Keep Bringing Me Back To My World.

I can't recommend this game as it is. And I want to; so badly. I want people to love Digimon like I do. But there's zero mystery here. It's not an adventure into the Digital World. It's you playing just another game.

Lastly I’ll said what made me stop playing. To advance story it was required to give a digimon 20 special meats and another one requiered other 20 big special meats. Such stupid grind and chore.

Very nostalgiac to Digimon fans. Much better version than the PS Vita predecessor. An upgraded version of the original playstation story of Digimon World. Great fun for hours. Graphics are up to par for a remaster of a Vita game come to PS4. You can check out Max Stats Guide by MalavarTCOne on youtube to get good tips when going through this game.

Since it is an exclusive of a console that is all graphics nothing else you would expect things such as maps, items and models to be gorgeous or at least decent looking enough. They are not (some maps are really nice but some others do feel like the one's another game has and this game is mobile exclusive).

I would surely recommend playing it only if you have never played a Digimon game before so that your expectations can't get lowered by anything.

The first problem is that very little makes sense, especially in the beginning. Steep learning curves are one thing, but I find it so hard to see the allure of continuing with this game after a few hours. The menus are varied and many. Usually this plethora of content gives a game depth, but here it is thrust upon you almost immediately instead of thrusting you into the action sooner. Even the battle system makes little sense and boils down to holding a couple of buttons and waiting it out.

The single key element that has deterred from playing this game more than a few hours is that the two digimon accompanying me seem to require food and the toilet every bloody minute, meaning I have to divert from the gameplay. This may have seemed like a hip tamogotchi-esque element, but it's nothing short of annoying and a nuisance. I want to battle and raise my digimon like any other RPG, but this mechanic is an absolute inane chore. There do seem to be skills I can acquire that decrease these digimon needs, but the grind to get them sounds awful.

Which brings me to my final point - the grind. A LOT of grinding is to be done in this game from the very beginning. Fortunately the training is quick and smooth, however the issues mentioned above hinder progress somewhat.

Overall, I cannot recommend this game at all unless you have played the previous version on the PS1 and enjoyed it. If you seek a digimon experience then go for the cyber sleuth games. They are by no means perfect, but there is much more to enjoy than this messy, dense and inaccessible outing.

Here you play as either a male or female character that you get to name and you work on escaping the digital world…
This is a very odd rpg... it’s a very good rpg though.. But that statement of course depends on the type of gameplay experiences you enjoy…
Digimon World is very much a management game...
The game starts with you choosing any 2 eggs… you raise the characters in these eggs in a training room to digivolve them and boost their stats… not in combat..
Their stats act more as defense here in case you do run into a combat situation...
You do increase your tamer level from combat though which gives skill points for your skill tree...
In this game you explore the open Digi world recruiting digimon to your village by helping them get the items they need throughout the world and in exchange they go back to your village and offer a perk for that village...
Your village is where you go to restock on food every day, buy items from shops, and train your digimon...
And mistakenly as you play the game this village gets bigger so everything is spread out instead of nicely packed into a small area… so you have to run around to get your refills…
As you are completing tasks you’ll run into wild digimon and you act as a coach or a cheerleader on the sideline while your 2 digimon do their thing…
you are able to throw in some healing items while they fight and command them to do special moves that they build up thanks to your cheering…
But they fight on their own…
you’re basically a cheerleader for 2 toddlers that also does fetch quests.
And as you explore the lands completing the tasks given to you you have to make sure your digimon don’t go hungry... and they get hungry a lot…
It’s annoying how frequently you have to feed them…
You even have to take them to the bathroom…
It’s a constant juggle of making sure you have food and portable toilets... while your digimon are strong enough to handle themselves in the locations you travel to…
    That’s the game…
It’s a really good game if you’re into that kind of thing.. Even I was for the first 8 hours…
But the thing is your digimon die…
And I have no idea how or why...
They’ll get sick if you over train them… but I purposely hatched a new one and trained it without giving it rest at all trying to kill it.. And it just wouldn’t die... I thought this was why and its clearly not it...
I tried to push at least 10 different digimon past their ultimate form and they died every time with no signs of illness or dissatisfaction from me as a tamer..
And it’s of course very frustrating to have to start again numerous times with new characters and have to bring their stats up all over again…
Especially if you just want to get on with the story..
This game is very much an open world digimon version of Tamagotchi...
Either you like that play style or you don’t…
Don’t expect a deep combat system here...or a typical jrpg where you have to slot in new items and moves… that’s not what this game is about
Feed your digimon, take them to the bathroom.. Don’t over train them... and use them as protection as you try to escape the digital world...
I give Digimon World: Next Order

I also prefer the more 'open' and colorful world to that of Cyber Sleuth- while the story in CS and HM are probably a good deal better, the bland backdrops and linear systems were kind of a disappointment. If you could mix the two, it'd be the perfect game.

That said, I love this and hope they come out with similar titles in the future! Tons to do, lots of hours of fun and new locales, and plenty to keep you wanting more.

If you've ever wanted a more intimate creature raising game that isn't Pokemon or SMT, then this is worth checking out as well. You actually have to raise and care for your Digimon (feeding, taking to bathroom, watching their weight etc) instead of just fighting.

    Pros:
    Plenty of content.

Story is nice and has that perfect digimon mix of light-hearted comedy and dark themes.

Music is pretty good (a little repetitive at times though)
There's a ton of Digimon to raise and lots of strategies you can utilize.

    Cons:
There is a constant grind. You always need something, but if you play alot of JRPGs, this isn't new to you.

Some Megas have some ridiculous conditions to get.

The game somehow both hand holds and doesn't explain everything well enough.

Game has pretty big difficulty curve.

-roster is too redundant like too much recolors of most digimon like say 3 different megalogrowmons
-simple glitches are still not fixed like graphical kinds, and texts, like growmon's entry is a copy paste of galgomon's entry in the field guide
-most agitation abilities are not worth using

so my advise to improve in the sequel is first and foremost
listen to those with intellectual feedback
    2nd fix the above flaws
3rd take your time to iron out the littlest bugs and test it out

so yeah love this game, definitely recommend it to vpet diehards
and at the same time the flaws need to be known, acknowledged of their presence and their issues, then learn from the mistakes

Not a game for everyone, it has problems and its a very specific niche. But it is still a great game, very competent in what it want to do, and one of the best Digimon games to date. If you play it, please consider taking breaks and coming back later, its a game about patience and progression.

    JUGABILIDAD

If you played and loved the original Digimon World in the PS1, it's going to be a wonderful trip to memory lane, together with enough new mechanics and tweaks that make it unique.
If you didn't, however, it might not appeal to you a lot due to the battle system. Give it a go anyway.
Pros: -Beautiful sceneries -Lots of areas to explore -The ExE mechanic -Great soundtrack with some

-Great soundtrack with some remixes from the first game
-Good and reasonably long post-ending gameplay.
-At least 100 hours of gameplay if you plan to go for the 100%
    Cons:
-Gets a little repetitive after a long time playing it.
-Lots of "repeated" obtainable Digimon (3 variants of Wargrowlmon, Veedramon, Gabumon, etc.) resulting in a poor variety of available Digimon whose spaces could have been used by other notable Digimon that were left out (Hawkmon, Falcomon, etc.).
-No multiplayer interaction, except for the automated Battle System that doesn't require any interaction whatsoever.

That said, the battling is a little less interesting then cyber sleuth. I hope they some day take the best of both games and combine them. I enjoyed the game alot as a fan and can't wait for my next visit to the digimon world franchise. I just hope them spend more time polishing the world and showing that they care about the source material they are pulling from. Expand

    ✅DIGIMON WORLD É UMA HOMENAGEM A NOSTALGIA?

    ✅CAMPANHA / DURAÇÃO DO GAME
O vilão do game é o Machinedramon.

    ✅GAMEPLAY / LOCALIZADO PT-BR
➡️A gameplay usa as mesmas mecânicas de jogabilidade do “Digimon world” do ps1.

This game is very fun but very challenging. It doesn't explain any of the main core training mechanics you need to not make the game feel like a slog. Many people hate it because your digimon don't live forever, they have a decent lifespan after upgrading your tamer talent tree, but half the fun is exploring and see what evolution lines you happen to unlock imo.

This game is very polarizing and like most other Digimon games is mostly for fans.
A LOT of patience is needed but you will be rewarded for it. Plays slightly like an MMO in some ways, as you must complete your dailies for best results.

If you love digimon and loved their OG style (aka tamagochi mons), then this is the game for you. Feels like an upgraded digimon world worked from the ground up.

With solid JRPG gameplay and surprisingly accessible mechanics, I was shocked by how much I got out of my time with Digimon World: Next Order. I will say, however, that the game will probably be most appreciated by those with a strong affection for whimsical nonsense — two of the game’s main characters are a dignified kung-fu cat and a tiny caveman whose hair completely obscures his features, and the most bizarre transformation involved a spike-shelled walrus evolving into an axe-wielding Frankenstein. This is a solid game, but more than that, it’s a strange one, and that strangeness has to be played to be believed.
  2. After Cyber Sleuth got our expectations real high, Digimon World: Next Order is crushed under those expectations. Although they are parts of two different series, Next Order still feels like an old and less fun game.

Next Order isn’t without flaws, but it's exactly the kind of game the Digimon World series needed after a regional hiatus. While the unconventional combat and grind-heavy skill training aren’t likely to deter fans of the franchise, newcomers might find some of the game's quirks unwelcoming. As such, Digimon World: Next Order likely won’t appeal to everyone, but the game is something longtime fans of the series will have no problem dumping hours upon hours into.
