Jan 24, 2018Hacker's Memory follows the same pattern that the previous title had but at the same time going one step beyond. A great combat system, an interesting story and characters and mostly the great soundtrack, with a few new themes added, and also a better pace on completing side missions complete an amazing title in this franchise.
-
Feb 9, 2018Despite some minor issues, a fair bit of grinding, and while still nowhere near the production values or quality of the Persona series -- Hacker's Memory is another solid turn-based RPG and a damn good Digimon game that you shouldn't miss if you played the original.
-
Jan 29, 2018I fell in love with Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory after just a couple of hours, and I've found it hard to put down since.
-
Jan 26, 2018It’s a truly interesting game that handles its characters with care and affection, and the dungeon crawling elements are excellent. Without familiarity with the past game, however, it also alienates potential players in a way that seems unproductive.
-
Jan 26, 2018Although Digimon: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory is a blast to play and gives gamers a lot to do, it's essentially just more of the same.
-
Jan 24, 2018Digimon Cyber Sleuth: Hackers Memory is a great game with a great story. Worth playing or trying if you feel it might not be your cup of tea. If you are a fan of Digimon like me I won’t have to tell you the fun in being able to play another Digimon RPG.
-
Jan 23, 2018Digimon Story: Hacker's Memory is the more refined version of Cyber Sleuth with an engaging new story. For some, this could be a deterrence as not much as changed at all. The graphics, locations, and gameplay are exactly the same, but the same core gameplay hook is there with some much-needed improvements.
-
Feb 5, 2018Digimon Cyber sleuth Hacker's Memory is a good continuation of the first game. It has a lot of what made the first title great along with new mechanics that give it freshness and that end up fitting into the story.
-
Jan 30, 2018Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory is a worthy successor. It is not a jaw-dropping, life-changing piece, but it is an enjoyable experience especially for a Digimon fan. The story is engaging from the first minute of gameplay and I personally found it difficult to turn the game off to go to bed. Overall, Hacker’s Memory is addicting and extremely satisfying, and here’s to hoping for a similar title in the near future.
-
Jan 19, 2018You don’t necessarily need a Nintendo system to dive into an extensive and thoroughly entertaining monster catching experience.
-
Feb 7, 2018Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory is a fun mix of JRPG and simple investigation tactics taking place in a digital sugarland with tons of adorable creatures. When it is at its best, the scenery is beautiful and the game is complex fun, but it has lulls of dull look and sound as well. This game is a lot of fun and a unique experience for Digimon and RPG faithful.
-
Feb 5, 2018There's a lot I really like about Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth — Hacker's Memory. The core game is still as solid as the previous entry, and the extra Digimon sometimes make all the extra grinding worth it, but this is another 60 hours of what is essentially the same game. Die-hard fans will love it, and it's still way better than most other Digimon games out there, but as a sequel it only just hits the mark, and that's mostly down to the great foundations laid by the first game. Hacker's Memory is more of a remix than a brand new release, and there's nothing wrong than that.
-
Jan 23, 2018Hacker's Memory is more about gameplay and artwork rather than graphics, so if you've watched the anime you'll find it pleasing to the eye (I know I did). What I did not like is having to listen to the same tune every time I fight a random encounter, and since Hacker's Memory requires a little bit of grinding that could become annoying.
-
Jan 22, 2018It manages to improve upon the previous game, and thankfully fixes some of it's problems. Since you can import your save from the last game, you should probably check that out first - it will help give you a deeper understanding of the story too.
-
Jan 19, 2018An independent sequel based on the recycling of elements of the first that stands out above all by raising the number of Digimon to 320.
-
Feb 15, 2018Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory is a surprisingly deep and complicated game. Coming to the title as a franchise newcomer, I did have some problems assimilating into such an established universe. But underneath all of the anime trappings, I found a solid and enjoyable (if somewhat standard) RPG. I would recommend this game to Digimon fans, and to RPG fans looking for something a little weird.
-
Jan 21, 2018This is a safe bet: if you like the original you will find more of that here. It's a good RPG, but there aren't many surprises here.
-
Jan 18, 2018By limiting itself to increasing the already high number of unlockable creatures, which in this case has established a real record, the developer Media.Vision has not made substantial changes to the dated technical sector, recycling rather blatantly textures and polygonal models of a game launched on the Japanese market three years ago.
-
Jan 24, 2018A chapter that lacks originality but would please fans with a new plot and 87 new monsters.
-
Feb 20, 2018Despite some of the shortcomings I found in the narrative and its inability to simply impress when it came to the conclusion of most cases, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory manages to hold its weight. It's saying something when compared to other RPGs in the fighting monster team genre. The true stars of the show are the digimon, as they indeed should be, and there’s enough zaniness in the rest of the game to keep you entertained throughout its long running time. There’s room for improvement, though, and should the developers choose to keep this side of Digimon series going, we could see something truly amazing in the future. As it stands now, Hacker’s Memory is not a bad way to hang out with some of my new favorite digital friends.
-
Feb 7, 2018The battling is very accessible, meaning that the fantastic story can be accessed by anyone.
-
Feb 7, 2018Hacker’s Memory is a solid addition to the original Cyber Sleuth, but as its own game it has little in the way of substance.
-
Feb 5, 2018This is a sequel to the original Cyber Sleuth game, but it doesn't feel that way. The game offers a new 50+ hour story, a total of over 300 Digimon and a few new elements. But next to that it is exactly the same as the last Digimon game.
-
Jan 31, 2018It feels so much like the original that even its few new additions like new Digimon and Dominion Battles start to slowly but surely feel less impactful over time. All the same charm, quirks, and missteps of the original game are captured all over again in Hacker’s Memory but for a full $59.99 price tag it just feels like this sequel could have, and should have, brought more to the table.
-
Jan 30, 2018Hacker's Memory mostly builds upon its capable predecessor, but despite an interesting cast, some tedious content holds it back from true greatness.
-
Jan 30, 2018Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker’s Memory will trigger plenty of fond memories of the franchise. Unfortunately, the game does not pack enough of its own punch to make them lasting.
-
Jan 28, 2018This is more Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth which is great but also has a lot of reused assets sadly.
-
Jan 25, 2018Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory may not be a true sequel to the 2016 original, but it’s a better version of a familiar experience. The visuals don’t shine as brightly on PS4 and players will have to wander through a lot of recycled content before encountering much new. While it would have been nice to have new areas, Hacker’s Memory is carried by its profoundly personal story, engrossing combat and progression mechanics, and various quality of life improvements. While newcomers may find the experience a little confusing, returning players will appreciate meeting up with returning characters and experiencing the enhancements implemented to improve the experience. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory may not be a true sequel, but the quality put into the story, combat and progression make it a worthy successor.
-
Jan 25, 2018An impressive take on the monster collecting Japanese RPG format. Collecting and levelling up the digimon may seem a little too simple for die hard genre enthusiasts, but the typing, elements, and memory limit all help to add extra layers of depth to the gameplay. The DigiFarm and the interactions with your monsters also help create a bond, making them more than just tools at your disposal - something that other similar games miss. Hacker’s Memory is an enjoyable romp overall for both Digimon fans and non-fans alike.
-
Jan 24, 2018Same old, same old... Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory delivers more of the same and is therefore more than good enough... The incredibly slow starting hours, however, do kind of hurt the overall experience.
-
Jan 24, 2018The biggest part of this game, like the environments or the 3D models, is the same that we've found in its predecessor. The story is afflicted by a lot of exhausting dialogues and the narration can be enjoyed only by a youngest ones. Luckily the growing and the combat systems are solid and funny, recommended to all Digimons' fans impatient to create they're own group of killing machines.
-
Jan 24, 2018Digimon strikes back with another JRPG adventure plenty of digital worlds to explore, creatures to collect and battles to engage. Not the best or the most original game around, but a good one indeed.
-
Jan 22, 2018Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory is basically the same game as its predecessor. It features almost no improvements and seems to be created for PlayStation Vita, so the versions for PlayStation 4 feel like a missed opportunity.
-
Jan 19, 2018Fans of Digimon and the first Cyber Sleuth will surely love Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory, where the digital monsters are the undisputed stars of the film. On the bad side, it's almost exactly like the original game (some locations are the same, and even the soundtrack is reused), and for an JRPG it's pretty average.
-
Jan 18, 2018Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory brings back too many elements from its predecessor, and in the end it feels like the developers forgot to give their new creature a personality of its own.
-
Feb 20, 2018Hacker's Memory is a sequel that can only be enjoyed by gamers who played the original Cyber Sleuth. The lack of direction makes it tough to recommend to newcomers and the repeated content will hamper the fun factor for existing fans. However, if you're a long-time fan and only play the games for their in-depth monster customization then it's surely worth picking up.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKApr 4, 2018It hasn't evolved enough to deal a critical hit to the competition. [Apr 2018, p.95]
-
Feb 12, 2018There is a neat story to be told in this world, despite the world being mostly recycled from the last game, however if you don’t find joy in the grinding and collecting elements you’ll probably find yourself too frustrated with the pace and general gameplay to bother.
-
Feb 12, 2018A confusing product. It’s too complex and longwinded for kids, but too easy, repetitive, and derivative for most adults. The game was made with fans of the original Cyber Sleuth in mind, but will frustrate those same fans with its rampant rehashing. Hardcore Digimon devotes may find something to enjoy here, but most will want to forget Hacker's Memory.
