This game is probably the best story driven game I have ever played. It has an intriguing story, with a lot of different outcomes. Because choices really do matter. And some of them are very hard to make. The character design is absolutely brilliant, and so is the story. Amazing.

Detroit is outstanding. The story is incredibly impactful, the characters are complex, the graphics are incredible, and the music is amazing. It goes places where many games and movies wouldn't, it gives the player incredibly hard decisions to make, and the end result is a project that you can tell the people working on it cared about. Great story-telling and acting. These two make it an amazing game, there's no need for extremely pushing gameplay or mind blowing action, it's main point is how this game is extremely bending, you can shape the story yourself and actually see the outcome of your choices.

I've played every choice-based, story-driven game out there, and this game is by far the best in terms of choices actually mattering and influencing the storylines. I really loved the characters, and the story was thoughtful and moving! Can't wait to play more games from Quantic Dream!

It is incredibly interesting to observe the development of the plot, make your own choices and watch where they lead you. Characters are amazing.I mean, everyone of them. Three amazing independent stories. Choices that really impact the gameplay heavily, not just cosmetically like in many cases of "your choices matter" nowadays. The game is beautifull, the shooting and directing is amazing, better than in many movies in my opinion. And let's not forget about the music. Possibly the best game of Quantic Dream yet.

I might be a little bit biased because i love Quantic Dream and the amazing games they have previously created, such as: Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls.
I've been looking forward to the release of the game since 2015. I immediately bought it the first day it came out, and i can say that it fulfilled all my expectations, or even exceeded my expectations.

If anyone from Quantic Dream or anyone involved in this beautiful game reads this, i just want to say thank you for this wonderful experience, this simply deserves a 10/10. Than you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

The thing that makes Detroit extraordinary is its refusal to lapse into the usual 'killer robot' cliches that are so common in the sci-fi genre. Instead, we are asked to consider a more nuanced vision of the future.

Why is empathy a desirable quality to instill into artificial life? What happens to ordinary people left behind by new forms of automation? Are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of our past as we attempt to create obedient servants rather than equal partners? The exploration of these themes gives this title depth and emotional resonance well beyond what you would expect to find in modern video games.

I hope that two to three decades from now, we will have the chance to answer the questions that Detroit has posed. 10/10, without reservations.

This game has the most branching storylines I've ever seen, or even heard of. You know that "illusion of choice" thing that Telltale does? This is pretty much the polar opposite of that, and it's very transparent - at the end of each chapter, you see a flow chart that shows you everywhere the narrative could, and did, diverge. So the replay value of Detroit is off the charts (though a softie like me just replays the same storyline where everything works out for everyone possible because I don't have the heart to make any of my characters suffer). And, while imperfect, the story is gripping and draws people in. As I've been playing the game in my living room, members of my family who don't play video games who were just walking by have found themselves sitting with me for hours to see what happens. The occasional cliche or trope might take you out of the action for a moment, but overall this story is a hell of a ride. I would recommend it highly and wish I could erase my memory of the game so I could discover it again for the first time (along with Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and LiS, for good measure). Expand

This game is really immersive. I spend 20+ hours for the first playthrough (I replayed some chapters when my characters die as I wanted the best outcome on the first, despite that you still see the unexpected outcome in the end). If you make a movie with this game story, it may be good but not great. However one important difference here is you make your own story in this game. You deeply care all characters and you will feel all sort of emotions while playing this as this is the the story you made- you pull the trigger, you betray your master.
The story is very engaging and emotional. I particularly like the Kara's story. The branching paths are very deep and the decision you made at the beginning of the game can affect even the last chapter. This is not like telltale kind of 'who should you save then the saved one die in the next episode anyway'. The story deeply changes according to your choice.
The game play- yes there is no combo but the qte still gives you the sense of thrill and urgency as you deeply care about your character and you don't want them to lose.
The graphics- top notch, the mo-cap will make you feel wanting when you play another game. The developer gives attention to details and it's unbelievable. Even the articles found in the game are interesting to read.
Music- one of the best, It matches the scenes you are playing. Kara's music in particular sounds very sad and touching.
There is no shame to say I cried in some scenes- either because of happiness or sadness. The 79 critic score is totally ridiculous. This at least deserve >90. This is 100 times better than mindless shooter or hack and slash.

During my daily tasks, it keeps popping up in my mind like a cork in water, leaving me to reflect on the choices I have made, and what consequences they had for the storyline. Personally, I was quickly attached to Kara and found myself deeply empathizing with her situation. The attachment felt so strong that I almost feared to play her story at times, afraid to make a disastrous deciding or screw up in a challenge-based encounter. That video game characters have an outstanding potential to be a lot more than just representations of people is splendidly demonstrated in this game. All three characters are so well developed, and I do not find it justified that certain reviewers characterize them as "flat". They are far from flat. Though they sometimes appear stereotypical (this is a pitfall all major game productions cannot seem to avoid), I find them very rich and compelling. And all of them touched me, profoundly.

A read a negative review that claimed the game did not have a message. I cannot decide whether I find this claim most ridiculous or blatantly unserious. I strongly doubt that this reviewer has even played more than a few hours of the game, and even if that is the case they must have kept both their sight, hearing, and slightest of analytical ability obstructed. The message is clear: history tends to repeat itself. The refusal to acknowledge humanity in androids that have a conscience and cognitive abilities equal to their owners should make everyone with a tiny scrap of historical knowledge think about slavery, apartheid, and minorities' fight for equal rights and conditions (something that is still very much ongoing today). There are explicit references to both the civil rights movement in the United States and the terrifying events of Holocaust throughout the game - and this is not even a spoiler! The trailers show this.

I love this game, and I will recommend everyone to play it. Games are not just about mastering difficult motoric challenges. If we have learned anything from playing video games that have been produced throughout the last decade, that is the most important take-home point - in my opinion. The games that stick with me long after I have played them have been able to make me invest myself in their interactive world - made me feel apart of its story and environment. This is to me the far strongest kind of immersion. Kara, Conner, Markus, Alice, and many of the other characters that appear in the story were not just representations of people to me, the game made me consider them as far more than that. That is the reason why they are still with me days after I finished the game. I cared for them, and I simply wanted the best outcome for them all. And when it did not turn out that way, it broke a bit of my heart. As I reflect upon this experience it does seem ridiculous, but the heart is far from rational. And thank God for that. The irrational heart is exactly what makes the potential for such video games experiences as Detroit offer possible.

This is a masterpiece with some flaws that become insignificant in the whole gaming experience. It demonstrates the greatest affordances the video game has as a medium. Truly a must-play of all time.

Detroit: Become Human looks and sounds great, and includes key player choices throughout, though it could have benefited greatly from a tighter script. While it’s commendable that Quantic Dream tried to cover hot-button issues in a big-budget video game, it works better when focused on the personal character moments than the bigger themes that don’t dig deep enough to make a meaningful impact.

Although the narrative is fairly linear, there are enough branching paths over the course of the game to make it feel like your actions matter. That allows Detroit to still be fun even on multiple playthroughs – and for an interactive movie, that’s a rare praise. [Issue#231, p.68]
