The expansion we've all been waiting for. More content than ever, the cinematic and story are actually good for once, and the new PVP offering is addictive. Haven't done the raid yet but even a bad raid will eat enough hours to make this easily worth the money.

This expansion, with the largest ever light level increase, introduces a very entertaining spin on existing and expanded areas with tons of new upgrade options, a new year three book to fulfill and much more. I can't wait for the new raid...Basically if you ever enjoyed your time with Destiny you are going to want to get this. I threw my wallet at Bungie a long time ago, so should you.

Simply. This DLC makes Destiny the best FPS of the gen. By far.

Nice gameplay, improved graphics, and a lots of contents right now, which can made you play like 500 hours non stop.

    Note: Much better with friends.

Over a solid content drop from Bungie and well worth the $30. I've been playing non stop for about 4 weeks since Rise of Iron dropped and there's still tons to do. As usual the soundtrack is also incredible. Can't wait for future content updates and Destiny 2 & beyond.

I would actually give this a 7.5 or an 8, I just feel obligated to try an offset the people who can't manage their expectations or understand how a 1-10 system should work. Rise of Iron is smaller than The Taken King as was always stated, and explains why it was cheaper. Story wise, it's passable, but lacks the charm of the taken king mostly because it's missing Cayde 6. Story wise, it's passable, but lacks the charm of the taken king mostly because it's missing Cayde 6. But to be fair if they brought back Cayde 6, the cocky humor would have gotten stale. It is not a full sized game, or a complete relaunch, it's just a DLC designed to give a little bit of extra legs to the game while we wait for Destiny 2. And that's what it does. It has a new arena mode, new pvp mode, a new social space, a new raid, new weapons, a new artifact system, new (yes, short) story, and it expands the playable world by about 20% with the addition of the Plaguelands. You know what that all adds up to? A significantly larger than industry average amount of content for a DLC package. There are low res indie games that took 5 people to make for this price with less content. Seriously people. Manage your expectations and find the things to enjoy in life. Expand

Such as a blizzard, bright lava and other such decorations thanks to the removal of last gen console support. The music also merits a mention it is super well done, probably my favorite music out of all the expansions. And we still have the raid that at this point has not gone line. Similar to WOWs cataclysm, destiny's rise of iron contains areas which have been totally destroyed. Areas that in previous expansions had not been updated in anyways. I would also like to mention that every level I have played has been very substantial. Each one has its own unique music, look and feel. Each one really inmerces In the world and lore of destiny thanks to the characters explaining everything to you as you progress the game. The surprise at the end of the story mode was also pretty cool. New exotics, weapons and armor of course. What more can you ask for? This is a great expansion for Destiny fans :) Expand

Beautiful story, Beautiful looks, and nice lore. Only problem is the line and the fact that I did all of it without gaining much good gear. But that being said. I applaud Bungie for their story telling and music in the expansion.

While this is a small expansion, I am very much so enjoying what has been given to us. The story of Iron Banner is deep with lore and nostalgia even though I have only played since The Taken King. No spoilers, but some of the quests are quite fun. I must say that the score for this expansion is AMAZING.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This expansion nailed both the balls-to-the-walls gunfights and the spine-chilling nightmare fuel. The final mission in the campaign shows up even some horror games. You go to destroy the replication complexes, and the corpses of the Iron Lords are hanging above you. You activate the self destruct, and SIVA stops the sequence and...my...God... The Iron Lords hanging above you are actually being kept alive by SIVA. The first will call for help and then start trying to kill you, once you kill it then the other 2 do the same. It scared the crap out of me. Expand

Much better than the Dreadnaught or any other planets. The new strike is okay, new story missions are okay, and the new raid is awesome! We had such a great time playing through that spoiler-free and overcoming the challenges. I do think $30 is a bit steep considering the amount of content, but again, the Plaguelands is awesome and a great place to run around with your friends. The new campaign is great fun if a little short, and has a better story and soundtrack than anything in the DLC before it.

The story in Rise of iron is amazing, besides how insanely short it is. The cut scenes where cinematic, and where filled with deep lore that never imaged Bungie could create. However, it is way to short. With only 5 missions, i felt a little sad. It was so good, and then ended with this feeling of a very, dare i say, a generic ending. So that is why I can give it a 7.5/10
    Content Rating: 8/10
If we are talking about new guns, armor, lore, items, exotics, missions, strikes, raids (have not played *YET*) and new items, it adds alot. I mean sure its not The Taken King big but its $30 not $40. It has enough to keep the average Destiny player happy until December in my opinion. And for the money, i think it is above average. So, its a 8/10
    Conclusion:
Destiny Rise of iron is a great addition to destiny, *HOWEVER*, Bungie had made it clear, they were not aiming it to be the size of The Taken King, and rather more like the house of wolves. In that sense, its huge. The strike is fun, the story while short, made me feel like i was in a star wars movie, and finally had alot of cool new gear, and not to mention old classic items, make the game feel refreshing, but not old. So in conclusion, if you want to get a short, fun, and sweet DLC, than buy Rise of Iron, but for people looking for a gigantic expansion, dont expect it here.

Hope you guys liked my review, if you could tell me if it was helpful or not and i will try my best to fix any errors or update u guys later. Thanks again ;)

Let's start with a friendly reminder that 0-1 review scores are really ridiculous. Protests are not reviews. That being said, Rise of Iron is some quality content for a DLC and if you have been keeping up with Destiny, you'll love. If you a lapsed player or a new player, don't bother. The level grind is too real.

The good: the story missions are well done and have some real set pieces reminiscent of when Bungie used to make Halo. One of the NPCs even mentions how one particularly halo like mission feels familiar. The new Crucible maps look great. The new raid is fantastic and in my opinion on par with the vaunted Vault of Glass.

The bad: the grind is too real. You need to grind, as in play the same activity over and over for hours, just to increase your level slightly. This DLC really shows the deficits of Bungie's leveling system. I don't know how a new player could ever level up enough to run the raid.

The mediocre: most everything is recycled. The is year 3 but Bungie is re-using assets from Year 1. Some of the new content, such as the flaming armor and a collapsed cargo ship, are inspired. Most of the content looks like it could have been user generated. We get it, this is a stop gap until Destiny 2 drops next year. Regarding Crucible maps, Bungie is going full close quarter combat, even though the one hit kill shotgun meta is cancerous to the game.

Final verdict: If you already play Destiny regularly, you already have this DLC. If not, I recommend saving your $30-60 on something you won't find a frustrating grind to nowhere.

While the story is rather ho-hum high fantasy nonsense, it does at least peak your interest...But and it's a big but. The voice acting is dry, poorly timed and badly written, with some of the same corny script work that plagued the original act of Destiny Year One.

    Story
The DLC first introduces you to the iron lords, the protectors of the universe before guardians were around, you get to meet Lord Saladin the last remainer of these warriors. After that you are told of a technology discovered by then called SIVA with can basically replicate anything in the universe, but as expected things gone wrong and they locked it in a bunker for the safety of mankind.Decades or even centuries later the fallen get their hands on this technology and you and your ghosts are assigned to a war in order to put and end to SIVA.The story is interesting and really well put together but feels unfinished and really rushed.I mean if the SIVA is this big of a threat how did I managed to defeat it in an hour and a half? This makes the story promissing but poorly executed making you feel frustraded by the end of it.
    Story Score:7.8/10
    Gameplay
The gameplay is the same, there's no change to the shooting mechanics which is expected since this is a DLC, the one thing that really disappoints about it is that the enemies are the same, if not they are reskins of old enemies(Vex,Fallen,Hive and Cabal).Even some bosses are the exact same ones you faced previously.
The DLC presents a new environment,The Paguelands, a snowy region in Old Russia which can was still able to impress me duo to its enormity either in crashed ships or abandoned complexes. It also cotains new gear to be acquired in story missions, strikes, raid or in its PvP mode the Crucible.Talking of which the DLC brings new maps and a new game mode similar to kill confirmed in call of duty called Supremacy.
The story has 5 missions and lasts about an hour and a half, once you're done with it you still got a new raid, 2 new strikes and The Plaguelans to Patrol.

Short story and no real new and fresh content was a bummer. Still Rise of Iron delivers a very satisfying raid, that is both fun and challenging, but not insanely difficult or drowned in complex boss fight mechanics. The quest to getting all of the ornaments for armor is what made the grind somewhat bearable.

Another expansion worth less than 30$. Rise of Iron not only disappoints, but the story is short, meaningless and lifeless. You might as well wait for Destiny 2. The new guns and gameplay is pretty good if you can get past the over hype of this expansion. Destiny has been a colossal project from the beginning and it's clear it is still in construction.
