    Awesome game and one of unique that I've ever played!
    Inside of game you will found many many mechanics like road connection i would and help another couriers to their deliver cargos, vehicles, weapons, crafting system and many others great things. Sometimes game like immersive sim another time it's like horror or third person shooter. Thanks to Kojima Productions for the great experience.

    I have only played 3-4 hours, so maybe it gets worse, an absolutely amazing game. I cannot comprehend anyone not liking this game. Great story, great game-play, great music, great visuals, no glitches so far (and runs very smoothly for such a pretty game), great sound design, great horror, great, great, great, great. Stop reading reviews and just play the game already before you spoilI have only played 3-4 hours, so maybe it gets worse, an absolutely amazing game. I cannot comprehend anyone not liking this game.     Honestly, it's not for everyone.
    If you enjoy a methodical slow pace experience, one that requires some juggling and resource management with the only real reward being is self satisfaction that you did a good job, then you will have a good time.

    If your looking for a break neck all out action adventure then look elsewhere.

    MGS this ain't, it is something a bit different though..

    Not to mention the great actors interpretation, who brings even more quality and depth to the opera.
    Unfortunately this kind of videogame isn’t for everyone. To those are looking for the usual "standard" open-world title where a weapon is always at hand, don’t play this game.
    This title takes as its protagonist the “journey”, at the borders of time and reality, in an America devastated by a catastrofic event, all implemented in a masterly way and demonstrating courage and genius in a gameplay that few people will understand and appreciate.
    I just want personally thank and congrats to Hideo-san for making me excited once again.
    I hope you will be able to appreciate this unforgettable journey!

    I really liked game. Story is amazing, characters are interesting and actors were really good. It had really beautiful view. Soundtrack is good. Only weakness is gameplay. When fight, it really strange and not natural ( if it makes sense).
    And walking was tiring but beautiful view and story saved it. I think it’s worth you money BUT if you really hate walking simulator And long story then    I really liked game.     Totally refreshing game in a landscape of cookie cutter games pressed out year after year. Very slow burn with this experience amazing cut scenes and camera work. If you spend the time and were interested in the trailers you will love this game and what it does

    This is a love it or hate it game. if you only enjoy FPS, fighting and fast paced online games, this is not for you. But if you love a great story, some unique gameplay and a bit of strategy in a game, you will probably love this.

    The game takes 50-70 hours to complete and there are hours of cutscenes. Taken alone the cutscenes present a 3+ hour movie that can be confusing at times, but    This is a love it or hate it game. if you only enjoy FPS, fighting and fast paced online games, this is not for you. But if you love a great story, some unique gameplay and a bit of strategy in a game, you will probably love this.

Taken alone the cutscenes present a 3+ hour movie that can be confusing at times, but by the end make this one of the most emotional games I have ever played. I haven't been drawn into a games story like this since FF7 and in a smaller way Last of Us.

    The graphics are incredibly good for PS4, I am really curious if they will remaster this for the PS5 to take the graphics to the next level. As it is, it is beautiful but PC's can now do more so it's limits are visible. Sound is also incredible and the soundtrack is haunting while being appropriate for the game. No jarring heavy metal or club music in the middle of the wilderness.

    The gameplay is unique and where most people are either all in or just hate it. At it's core is a delivery/travel game that has you crossing the country as a heroic walking UPS van. You are evading gangs, ghosts and weather the whole way. Plus the weather destroys your cargo if you waste too much time in it. So it adds some strategy to the delivery system.

    Kojima style boss fights are littered here and there, with one(Higgs) being my only complaint, as it is so outside the mechanics of the regular game as to make me almost ding a point for it. But in the end it's just one fight that I disliked and the rest of the game was fun,

    I found unique ways to get past some obstacles and with the mostly open world you travel it allows you to choose long ways around, fight your way through or even create your own sky tram system to move round the world to speed you up. I spent hours building a fast travel system in the mountains that saved me tons of headaches and replays when I was up in the mountains.

    Plus as a bonus, other people playing the game might just cross into your world and the bridges, ladders, ropes and stations they leave behind can be used to help get you through. I found this aspect especially good because I would choose to leave things behind for the next guy to use. You can award likes to other players for their well placed assistance and get likes for what you leave for them. The likes are a score system for the whole game and help unlock better gear.

    Overall there is no other game like this, which is a shame because I would love to keep playing in new areas and new story arcs. Crossing my fingers for an even bigger sequel.    … Expand

    A lot of people call this a walking simulator, but I find that to be a little near-sighted. The game has an interesting storyline and some difficult terrain/encounters as you’re completing the task of reconnecting the continent.

It might seem boring and repetitive at first, but once you get to build more stuff, it is just too addictive and fun. I had the most fun building dozens of ziplines all over the place to be able to deliver packages really really fast. As Kojima gives player a lot of freedom in DS, there are really a lot of different ways to play & enjoy the game.… Expand

    Obviously people are review bombing death stranding. The fact there is reviews for this game the same day it comes out is complete BS. It’s a 30-40 hour game so what is happening is people are too dumb and impatient to give it a chance. This is what is happening to our generation. I read one review that said the graphics are crap, obviously this piece of crap didn’t even look at the game because it’s a freaking fact it’s the best looking game ever made hands down on any console, there may be a PC tech demo out there that can rival it but unless your playing the game with composite cables and a boob tube if you think this game looks anything but completely out of this world stunning you need your GD eyes checked. I read many reviews of death stranding and the obvious Hideo Kojima jealousy and PS4, always making the best games, hate is thick as butter. I honestly think half the user reviews are by pissed of Xbox players who haven’t seen a half decent exclusive since freaking halo 2 Then we have the mainstream “game journalist” reviews which some granted actually played the game and gave it a fair score even if it wasn’t there thing, but then you have complete and obvious bumbling idiots hating on the game because it didn’t stroke there tiny brain, battle royale playing, call of duty shooting, SJW worshiping nonsense.



    Videogames to me is a combination of all the greatest art forms in our world, drawing, music, story, animation, acting. Over the years we have seen great games the combine these talents to create impactful works of art that river art histories greatest pieces. When I played Heavy Rain the first time it was like starring in the eyes of the Mona Lisa. Video games are the renaissance of the modern times. Don’t get me wrong either I totally play Call of Duty and really enjoy just plugging in and blasting my way to victory in a 10 min match, howeve it still took a team of multitalented artist and dedication to create even that simple experience.

    What’s my point? My point is every game in the past the pushed the boundaries of what had come before it, in the graphics, gameplay, music and story telling has carried video games from being laughed at by parents as a stupid toy to being inducted into art museums and treated as really art. This is what Death Stranding is, it’s the next level in video games pushing the boundary of artistic expression and imagination and combining all the forms of art to make an experience that will remembered as the catalyst that changed the way we look at video games. That to me makes this game deserve a 20/10 but at least a 10/10 Anyone who rates this game beneath that doesn’t not understand what this actually means. Look I am loving the gameplay, graphics, story, acting, music it’s all groundbreaking next level stuff but even besides that this is a declaration that video games do not need boundaries or rules, like art. If every game developer was as brave as PlayStation and Hideo Kojima we would have more great games then ever and some bad ones yes but at least they would be putting there true heart and soul into there work, not just trying to get in to our wallets. This is what death stranding is, it’s the Mona Lisa, it’s the Sistine Chapel, the pyramids of our time. I know that sounds really crazy but take a moment and think about it. I am no Kojima fan boy either, I have always respected him has a visionary artist but never really played Metal Gear. I loved what he helped do with Castlevania Lords of Shadow but that really it so this isn’t coming from a fan boy bias.     The game is about an apocalyptic future where humanity passed the Death Stranding, and the cities started to be like 'islands', isolated from each other, because in between the cities the 'monsters', BTs, can appear all of a sudden. In this ambient delivering things between cities, being this connection, is probably the worst and more dangerous job someone can have, yet someone has to do it, so it's a little unfair to say that this game is an 'app delivery simulator' since logistic in this world is the most difficult problem humanity face. And here we have the theme 'Connection' is everywhere, I thought that maybe was a little too much, like the company name you work for is Bridges, and they talk about reconnecting the entire country, and you build and left bridges, roads, but apparently by the reviews, it wasn't enough.

    It is a slow-paced game, that demands work, collaboration with people you never met, and never will, planning ahead, and constantly maintaining and rearing tasks. So to quote Rick and Morty, because just because "I have no doubt that you would be bored senseless by therapy, the same way I’m bored when I brush my teeth and wipe my ass. Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people … well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose." And part of the concept of the theme is that connection is a repetitive task, is repairing, maintaining and cleaning our relationship with others, and that reflects on the gameplay, but the best part is, you are not alone, you can help others and be helped, when you choose a path to follow but you see a sign and a bridge you remake your whole path just because someone took their time, to gather resource or ask for them and put a bridge there and that for me it's awesome.

    A beautiful world, with some good comments as to how our society is growing distant with our technology that supposed to be closing the gaps. And how a little bit of work of everybody can have a great impact in the gameplay, literally the best part for me along with the music was the multiplayer, how you can help and be helped is a really nice addition that alters how you plan things and how you play at all.

    Of course, i isn't a perfect game, things like the accessibility and simplicity of the menus could be improved for non-gamers since Kojima said that they were part of the target audience. The physics of the motorcycle could be improved as well, but as the rest is a great game.

    I would put it as like the Animals album of Pink Floyd, as in the Animals the musicality serves the concept of the Album, and builds in it, Death Stranding does the same, the actors, graphics, music, and gameplay, are the basis of the theme of Connection of the game, without it, it can be a little boring or 'just deliver simulator' if you don't understand your part in these world as a bridge for the network of humanity.    … Expand

You'll be glad you kept at it when you reach Episode 8. TRUST ME, DO NOT QUIT, everything starts making sense and you will suddenly have everything hit you all at once, and you will thank me and anyone else that told you not to give up.At first you'll think this game is boring. It was enjoyable, but it left me with a feeling of "this is okay for now, but I hope this isn't everything". It's not everything and I'm sure I still haven't even seen everything at this point.     Don't listen to what the haters say or crazy low scores. This is definitely the best game of 2019 and one of the best games of 8th generation. Buy it and enjoy its fantastic new gameplay, great graphics and music score and also great story of world of death stranding and sam porter.

    Weirdest game I enjoyed this much in a while. Love the Kojima feeling in the game, animations dialogs and storytelling are suberb. Even the longest runs keeps you busy and thinking planning all the way and you really have an open world solution to your delivery. Yes is it A to B but the road is always tense/scenic/exploration-friendly/dynamic
    I recommend everyone for a unique experience.

    This game is a very specific product. I understand why it causes so much noise. And although my rating for this game is 10, I think its current score is well deserved. For, how true art is to me to debate and make you think. Kojima has done a tremendous amount of work on the game and it feels like an author's game and not a product of a large corporation. For which he is greatly thanked.

    A creative endeavour that's unlike anything I've ever played before. The game is more about the journey than the objective and what you do and experiences you have on the way. A slow burn story that ultimately has rewarding character experiences. Mads Mikkelsons character stood out as he was always going to do. The fist fight with higgs was a welcome throwback to MGS4 and was a standout fight for me. I encourage anyone to try this game out as new experiences are hard to come by in the gaming industry these days and this will certainly be a game that sticks in your mind for a long time after you've finished. Marks down also for the lack of replayability here but the game is excellent as a single player experience and the 50+ hours to complete justifies the purchase.… Expand

    I played through pain for the first few hours.It was officially just a high-quality walking and cargo simulation.I kept saying Hideo Kojima couldn't snap a game that bad, and after a while the game started opening up.The motorcycle's on.When I started fighting those strange creatures, the game got better.My grade is 85.10 on 8

    Metacritic needs to do something about review bombers. They have no life so go out of their way to try to upset others.

    You can tell who here has played the game for more than 1 hour and who hasn't (if at all). Not everyone will like this game for sure, but it's not a 0 and there's actually a lot of fun to be had with the game.

    You'd know if you actually played it.

This is a slow paced game with an enrich story that incrementally gives you reason to keep going but makes it worth it each time. The actors do a tremendous job, especially Norman Reedus. Now if you don’t like him in walking dead then you probably won’t find much in terms of new personality here. But He is the perfect misfit rebel to play this part. The only thing better would be if Jeffrey Dean Morgan would play the villain. The game has a very bizarre story but it interesting all the same. Each climb each fall, each scatter of your belongings can be felt as it seems to be a mountainous climb through the game. But again with a special treat each time you complete a portion. I read so many times BORING if you find creeping through vast open world wondering when your BB is going to pop up and alert you to stop breathing from a nearby BT or struggling to inch up a treacherous and tall terrain fearing you may have stacked too much on your back to make this climb to get to the next part of the well thought out story boring, then to each his/her own. But I was on the edge of my seat trying to make it a short distance to connect another city. PS were more than Amazon delivery personnel. I have to say people are maybe not giving this enough time to develop or not understanding the story line to give some of the reviews I have been reading. I do think many true Kojima fans and metal gear fans will thoroughly enjoy this game. I wish I would see more people speak up and defend his hard work. I love the game and knew going in it would be no Red Dead 2 but its nearly equally interesting only the gameplay is more limited but not much. There is still plenty to do. People are willing to guide a snake around a screen and make the snake bigger as well as other top mobile games like flappy bird come on. This is true gaming entertainment.     Awesome game! If you are looking for a hatch and slash game then this isn’t for you. But if you looking for a game with a great/weird storyline and great voice acting then this is for you. Graphics are amazing especially on a PS4 Pro.

    I have never been a hardcore Kojima fan but i have to say that his works are actually pleasing and often very polished, making you feel something rare.
    And this is the case here, the game uses its tortured concept to question yourself constantly, like : "it is weird in our world, but is it in this one ?".
    The game is made for contemplation.
    The gameplay serves the experience, as usual for Kojima, it is fluid and logical to the universe you're in, while not being restrictive and remaining precise and the most important... FUN.
    You are alone with a destination, you chose where you go and when. What do you take with you ? Do you travel safe, or risk it all ?
    The acting is overly dramatic and it works in a Kojima scenario, take it or leave it.
    Biggest flaw in my opinion is the main vilain, way too typical, still have some interesting intents through the game.
    The music serves contemplation, usually absent leaving you with yourself and the world around, and strikes when it's a fitting moment.
    And the most impressive, the game reinvents itself every hour, adding more mechanics with every encounter, and making you reconsider the ways you can progress.
    The game is good, really good, but it is not for kids, and the fact that it is boring comes only from you and you alone. The game is not perfect, but it is very close to be, and comparing to the rest, you can keep the commercial work, i keep the work coming from the heart.    … Expand

    Death Stranding is an unique game that mix the gameplay elements with the narrative in a way only Kojima does.
    Is a game of walk, but when you play you realize that make delivers is a big challenge and is quite fun sometimes. Story is beautiful and Full of plot twist that reminds me of mgs2. I'm Glad this game exists in a vast ocean of generic games that put sale in front of quality.

You can use bikes and trucks that can help you get places, but they have their limits in terrain traversing capabilities, just like real bikes and trucks... So your best bet on getting somewhere - is using your own two feet.

    I have awesome time playing this game.

    ok i had my thoughts about this game at start, i can see ppl dont like it but you dont have to kill always for a game to be fun. its a modern masterpiece the best game ive played since GoW . im gaming for over 20years and i can say this score is way downrated . actors senario music gameplay is a bit weird but fun a perfection kojima only could pull out and very risky move.

    Slow pace at the beginning, but if you have the patience to get to the later stage, you'll find that the boring and tedious in the early stage are deliberately made, which is designed for the story. It is not the best Kojima game, but is the most special, and most ambitious one.

    One of the best games of my life. It has a tiring gameplay, but that makes sense within the game. The ending is quite time consuming and seems like it will never end, but in the end a sense of nostalgia sets in and a willingness to play again and be around such amazing characters.

    However...

    In an age where one game after another are nonsensical copy paste action games with barebones story, terrible low budget cutscenes, microtransactions and completely void of artistic vision, Death Stranding stands out as something fresh and remarkable, while still tugging some nostalgic strings when it nods back to the first Metal Gear Solid games.

    It's a game that has grown on me even after finishing it. It demands that you reflect on its story and themes.

    The gameplay is fresh, and surprisingly fun and addictive, and its visuals are unmatched.

    I was worried Kojima was past his prime after the dissappointing MGSV, but DS shows that he has more stories to tell, and what a story it is...

    Fascinating story as expected from HK. All the usual charm fans have come to expect from his games. Very addictive game play loop that can be a bit tedious at times, but very rewarding.
    A pleasure to play, not fun.....but very enjoyable.
    Looking forward to a sequel just hope we dont have to wait another 4 years

    Very inspired game. The gameplay loop per se is satisfying and has a continuous progression throughout all chapters.
    Storytelling, dialogues and visual impact are amazing.
    Only downside are boss fights, way to basic with regard to the gameplay.
    I’ll give an 8 to the gameplay, but the overall results deserve something more!

    Try it without prejudices!

The story doesn't make you want to know what is left for them to show. I watched the rest of story on youtube and even there i was thinking that i was losing my time. Il medium videoludico in questo frangente viene spinto oltre il mero scopo di divertimento inteso come riprodurre tematiche action o situazioni che richiedano prontezza di riflessi. Si tratta di qualcosa di diverso che richiede un metro di giudizio adeguato: si tratta di un videogioco basato sulla narrativa di un’esperienza unica, il cui scopo è di rendere il giocatore partecipe di un immenso ed estenuante viaggio di riconnessione, che per Sam è tutt’altro che divertente. Ci scontriamo quindi con due lati: 1) Dover rimanere divertente perchè si tratta di un videogioco; 2) Allontanare dal divertimento per rendere realistico l’immedesimarsi in Sam, in ció che prova durante il suo viaggio. Per questo è complicato dare un voto a un gioco così “relativo”, sarebbe dare un voto alla possibilità di emozionarsi per qualcosa, alla voglia di immergersi in qualcosa, qualcosa di diverso. The gameplay is in the weaker side, however it doesn't take away from the fact that the game features amazing graphics, mysterious story, and great soundtrack only someone like Hideo Kojima could do.     For all the other people- you must play this. If you are in to things like Blade Runner movies or deep indy, european movies... This game will be better than that :) And I mean it. Oh, man(and ladies) it was that good.

    To be fair, there was moments in the game where it required some patience. And I see why people would call it Fedex simulator, but that was just a part of mind blowingly amassing journey.

The gameplay is unique, and, against what the most may think, it resulted extremely entertaining for me. I just felt like I was playing something that I hadn't played ever before. The story is stunning, and at certain point on it you just can't stop playing.

    Excellent video game, playing it is more interesting than gameplays. the story is something totally unique and away from certain commercial action games of covering and running crouching

    It's definitely different but I love this game, the mechanics are great the story is kojima as usual but I wouldn't want it no other way at all can't wait to see what he does next.

    I've never touched a Kojima game before this and I was skeptical going into the game myself. I decide to give it a fair shot and I've come out absolutely adoring it; the story is intruiging and the world building is phenomenal.

    The gameplay won't be for everyone, but I don't think it ever aimed to be. I've personally had a blast - driving down a road constructed by a bunch of strangers    I've never touched a Kojima game before this and I was skeptical going into the game myself. I decide to give it a fair shot and I've come out absolutely adoring it; the story is intruiging and the world building is phenomenal.

    It's a great game and Graphics are amazing.it's a slow game though, but give it time and play it with an open mind, plan your deliveries and how you will going to do it and enjoy it. but remember you'll have to (PLAY IT ONLINE) in order to get the full experience of building and helping each other in the game world.

    Best game I played for 2019 so far. Perfectly playable during launch no bugs and glitches that was spotted during my play trough. Story was one of the most emotional and rememberable experience this year.     El juego tiene una historia muy solida, los momentos mas memorables los marcas tu al jugar.
    Las mecanicas de Sedentarismo le han quedado como anillo al dedo, el tema de tener que revisar tu peso y el equilibrio esta muy bien hecho, eso si no es un juego para todo publico, es como el cine extranjero, algo diferente y extraño.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
