    I don't understand these low ratings. This game is great but it does take several hours to open up and become something quite special. Have a little patience and you will be rewarded.

The core gameplay mechanic of delivery rarely felt stale to me, but after completing this game, I felt the urge to go out and continue deliveries and setting up more structures to help other players. The theme of connections played out well, even if it felt hamfisted at times. Graphics, gameplay, and implementation are all 10/10 for me. Give it a shot.… Expand

    The first 2 hours made me feel uneasy because I just didn't understand it and the gameplay loop seemed shallow, but I decided to push on and persevere and I'm glad I did because eventually something just clicked and I was having fun. I was running from one place to another, cramming as much in my backpack as possible, taking out the occasional package thief and avoiding the mysterious BTs.The first 2 hours made me feel uneasy because I just didn't understand it and the gameplay loop seemed shallow, but I decided to push on and persevere and I'm glad I did because eventually something just clicked and I was having fun.     I've always found Kojima led games hit or miss, for example I wasn't big into MGSV, but Death Stranding is an interesting take, it's a slow burn so if your more into short games then this ain't for you

    Motion capture is amazing. Exploring every environment is breathtaking. Music fits perfectly. If you have a PS4 give this game a try!

    Jogo maravilho que merece nota máxima. Jogo já está na lista dos jogos com nota perfeita da Famitsu e isso já mostra a qualidade de um jogo conseguir chegar no nível de entrar para o seleto ranking dos jogos perfeitos. Tudo indica que temos o Goty 2019.

    Game is like a fresh breath in age of tolerance, social network mania and games that are done by same template over and over. I like to feel NEW experience. And this game at least introduce new mechanic of social co-working. I wonder how starting location will look like when I get back after finishing the game...

    No voy a hablar de los gráficos, ni de la historia, pues creo que no necesita presentación    He leído gente que ha valorado el juego con un 0 y ha dicho que esperará a que cueste 5 o 10 euros para comprarlo y jugarlo. ¿cómo se puede valorar un juego tan rotundamente sin ni siquiera tenerlo? ¿qué problema tiene la gente con su vida que necesita hundir aquello que no entiende o no comparte?

    No voy a hablar de los gráficos, ni de la historia, pues creo que no necesita presentación y creo que estaréis conmigo que te atrapará desde el principio, sino del gameplay.

    En las pocas horas que llevo de juego puedo que Death Stranding es un juego acerca del camino. Acerca de cada paso que das. Puedes pensar que quizá "no pasa nada" porque en juegos de mundo abierto lo normal es que hagas muchas cosas, muchas tareas y pegues muchos disparos, pero seamos realistas: lo normal es no dejar de darle a la x o al R2 dependiendo del vehículo, llegar a un destino, disparar, y volver a darle a la X o R2 de vuelta. Si, pueden pasar muchas cosas pero la acción del jugador, el uso del cerebro se suele reducir a esto. En Death Stranding algo que antes resultaba tan simple como cruzar un río, subir una colina o andar por piedras exige pensar. Exige ser cuidadoso. Exige estar al tanto y no poner el cerebro en piloto automático.

    Los enfrentamientos con el enemigo no los vas a resolver tampoco simplemente disparando a lo loco. Bajar de una montaña con carga hasta arriba tampoco. Elegir los encargos tampoco. Ayudar a otros jugadores se convierte en una motivación. Empezar un nuevo encargo es tener la incertidumbre de no saber qué te vas a encontrar, e ir bien equipado para hacer frente a los enemigos es menos importante que saber por donde ir.

    Pero Death Stranding también sabe sacarte de ese momento de tensión regalándote momentos mágicos, donde de repente el camino se vuelve llano, sale el sol, y empieza una música maravillosa. Una vez más, Death Stranding es acerca del camino, tanto para los momentos tensos como los momentos de paz.

    Sinceramente, le he otorgado un 10 sin terminarlo porque me veo en la obligación de equilibrar la balanza ante tanta persona que ha venido a destruir un acercamiento diferente a los videojuegos. Un visión más propia de un artista que de un hombre de negocios. Death Stranding no es para todo el mundo, pero eso no quiere decir que no sea un juego increíble: independientemente de que te guste o no tanto, Death Stranding es el recordatorio de que los videojuegos son arte, son visiones de creadores inquietos, el trabajo de personas que aman lo que hacen, y por eso, con tanta IP repetida y reciclada, DLCs y Pay to win, es algo que merece la pena aplaudir.    … Expand

    Please don't base your decision to play based on the numerous "borings", I believe everyone can find enjoyment with this game if they go into it with the right attitude. And the amazing story makes playing the almost 60 hour campaign 100% worth it. This eventual need you get to conquer nature will drive you over the valleys and mountains dotted with BT and MULE enemy encounters. And as played up as it is, the player interactions make this game amazing (wait until you need another players bridge or shelter when trekking a mountain). With all the praise this game isn't perfect, animation sometimes is jankier than rdr2 and the time to get in and out of menus is infuriating (specially during boss fights). Honestly if you don't expect this to be another AC Odyssey and keep an open mind, you will have a great time… Expand

    Fantastic game that requires a lot of thinking, and some intelligence to follow what is going on. Which explains why a lot of people don't get this game.. lets face it, most gamers are low IQ clowns whos simple intellect draws them to simple games like fortnite. I'd give this game an 8.5, but I will leave a 10 to make up for these losers 0's

    11 hrs. on the game, and i gotta say i am having fun traversing through the world to get to my destination, yes the game is mostly walking for the first 10 hrs of the game, it might not be for people that the story gets really really interesting as you progress, but the first 10 hrs might set people away cause of how slow burn the game is, but for me the first 10 hrs i had fun exploring11 hrs. on the game, and i gotta say i am having fun traversing through the world to get to my destination, yes the game is mostly walking for the first 10 hrs of the game, it might not be for people that the story gets really really interesting as you progress, but the first 10 hrs might set people away cause of how slow burn the game is, but for me the first 10 hrs i had fun exploring areas and relaxing to it's amazing Soundtrack being played in the background as you traverse, and the world and the graphics are amazing it sets the PS4 Graphical to the next level, Decima Engine really made the game look amazing and so is the Characters, the Story is interesting , I have never played a game and a unique experience like this since, The Annoying part on this game is the Balance Cargo Mechanics when walking, it just stresses me out balancing Sam to not fall over.....but overall i love this game to the core

    Что-то новое и уникальное, давно не получал таких впечатлений от игры. Это как инди сделанная на уровне ААА. Большим количеством именно игровых условий напоминает настольную игру. Сюжет и сеттинг немного рандомны но очень нестандартны и креативны.
    Рекомендую взрослым людям которые вдумчиво подходят к игровому процессу. Не знаю гений ли Кодзима но он определенно хорош.     Llevo 23 horas jugadas y de momento me lo estoy pasando en grande.
    No entiendo tantas criticas baratas sobre este juego pero bueno cada cual su opinión digo yo, dicho esto entro en materia. En un buen principio te ametrallarán con cinemáticas largas pero entretenidas, ya que te van explicando poco a poco que está pasando en este mundo y el porqué de que seas “repartidor”,    Buenas a todos

    En un buen principio te ametrallarán con cinemáticas largas pero entretenidas, ya que te van explicando poco a poco que está pasando en este mundo y el porqué de que seas “repartidor”, ademas te dirán un montón de términos extraños que pensaras: mmmm...de qué narices me hablan, pero gracias a los e-Mail que te envían los pnj, de las mismas cinemáticas que he mencionado antes y él gameplay , te irás dando cuenta de que ha pasado y que está pasando en el juego.
    Puede que las primeras horas, se vuelvan un poco lentas, pero poco a poco, no te darás cuenta y ya estarás enganchado.
    Según mi parecer la historia está resultando ser de 10 sin duda, y en cuanto el gameplay me parece correcto la verdad, no esperéis ningún shooter porque no lo es, tiene mecánicas de este pero para nada es parecido a los que conocemos. Hemos de tener en cuenta que el personaje que manejamos no es ningún militar ni nada por el estilo es un simple repartidor, así que experiencia con armas tiene las justas y creo que se demuestra en el mismo juego, cosa que le da su atractivo.
    La música es fenomenal, me encanta además que la ponen en momentos clave de la historia para que emocione mas el momento y tema gráficos, son una delicia la verdad, animaciones curradisimas tanto en cinemática como en gameplay.
    Entrando de nuevo en la historia, sabéis ese tipo de acontecimientos, relatos, películas o libros que una vez se acaban, te vas a internet o te los vuelves a leer escuchar o mirar porque necesitas entender bien de que se trata todo, porque crees que lo sabes pero a la vez tienes la sensación que algo se te escapa?
    Pues esta es la sensación que me da Death Stranding y ¡me encanta!

    Si os gustan las buenas historias y queréis romper un poco con la jugavilidad típica Que se ve últimamente en los videojuegos, os lo recomiendo sin lugar a dudas.

    When I first started this game I saw it as a pallet cleanser after the onslaught of action games I have been playing but soon I came to realize this game is a work of art. The atmosphere, narrative and way emotional connection I received from this game was unmatched in 2019.

The environment you are thrown into is beyond captivating. The exploration brings me back to exploring breath of the wild for the first time. You have a destination to travel to but it isn't always a straight line and planning the trip isn't always enough.
    The game has incredible world building with a story that pulls you in to the amazing post apocalyptic America. Its suspenseful, thought provoking and rewarding

    First of all i have played 50 hours of this game and i am still thinking about it the story the music the sense of accomplishment at reaching your goal. There are a lot of Kojima haters out there also x box and Nintendo players who will just shove a massive zero on it say its a walking simulator even when the game has been out only a few hours and it gets review bombed. YOU might not like this game its gameplay and story might not be for you if you dont like Kojima games you might not like it if you dont like slow gamepay even though i found it compelling you might not like it. The social system is awesome the way you can feel other people in the game is amazing finding a ladder when you fall in a crevice and it helps you, or finding zip lines in mountain areas or ropes that help you climb up or down mountains, this system make you want to help people building roads, safe houses, leaving ladders or zip lines in helpful areas.

    I could go on an on about this game but no one will read it if i do there is good things and bad things in this game if you like Kojima play it, if you dont like him dont. If a game that has never been made and will never get made again before with interesting compelling gameplay with a story i really enjoy (especially the ending) its definitely worth a try.

    Spoiler free and was going to put a 10 but then you become what you hate this is my honest review of this game.

    How to explain it so that it's not spoiled but not ignored. So the premise is that somehow the world of the living and dead has sorta kinda intersected, and it's basically post apocalyptic sorta but the apocalypse happens when a human soul touches basically a demon from hell, it causes an antimatter nuke to go off, so you can imagine early on in the storyline as cities are being demolishedHow to explain it so that it's not spoiled but not ignored. So the premise is that somehow the world of the living and dead has sorta kinda intersected, and it's basically post apocalyptic sorta but the apocalypse happens when a human soul touches basically a demon from hell, it causes an antimatter nuke to go off, so you can imagine early on in the storyline as cities are being demolished people freak the F out, so they bunker down and the country becomes these outposts of civilization all holed up. You, for story reasons I won't spoil, are able to somewhat feel the demons and have made a name for yourself delivering supplies between these city bunkers. So the game is one giant fetch quest. And when it started after a few hours I was ready to throw in the towel because I was not enjoying it but it's sort of done that way on purpose. You literally have nothing but a backpack, and you are totally alone in the world, so you load up cargo and have to walk, across a desolate landscape and up mountains and stuff, and the engine is pretty amazing as you have to balance your weight on the inclines and can slip and fall, and have stamina which dictates how you can move uphill or across streams, and you can get swept away or fall down causing your cargo to fall off and get damaged or go rolling down that mountain you just hiked. It was infuriatingly difficult. Then add to that you have the stealth mechanics of avoiding demons and hostile humans and it was tough. All to deliver some cargo from point A to point B. So if you get to that, I can understand why its so devisive because it wasn't very fun and it didn't feel rewarding. But I kept at it and all of a sudden stuff starts to click. You "level up" skills which allows you to carry more weight and have better balance. You start unlocking tools that will help like ladders and ropes and then all of a sudden you have a bike then a truck, ziplines and remote charging stations so that progression feels really real.
    Add to that you can basically modify the landscape to your need. Going between point a and b is a wasteland but spend resources and now theres a road and a bridge over that river all the way up to a series of ziplines connecting mountain peaks together. And this is where another really cool part comes in, its a single player game but ghosts of other players structures will sometimes come through, so you may be walking along and some other player in their world put up a series of ladders to climb up a tough spot, now you can use their ladder to climb up, or you can leave helpful signs to other players like “go this way” for a hard to find path. Also people can contribute to your buildings, so when someone helps you build a bridge across a river its in your game and theirs and it’s a really neat feeling of watching the land develop and see how other people are tackling routes or areas. Its all balanced well with the pacing so it starts off real slow with very few mechanics but toward the end you are loading up a truck with 30 boxes of stuff to deliver in a circular route that you spent 10 hours paving avoiding demons and humans and increasing rep and skills and it gets pretty addictive from that aspect. And once you get a handle of that the game adds in more gameplay types, now you are fighting demons and humans, and then the crazy amazing story starts to really come to shine and wow what a ride. The lore both in the form of emails and interviews with outpost survivors to hours and hours of amazingly done cutscenes paints a picture unlike pretty much any other story, and some emotionally charged sections as well. At the surface, the first 5-10 hours of “gameplay” is rough, some people will like it right off the bat, some will hate it but it’s done on purpose and the feeling of isolation and immersion is unbelievable and the feeling of reconnecting the country one stop at a time with amazing cast of characters and biomes is just something to experience. If you like to skip cutscenes and just shoot things this is not the game for you but if you want to be immersed in a world unlike anything else you’ve played and really feel a roller coaster ride of immersion, isolation, despair and elation and experience the entire package you will come away amazed.    … Expand

I never thought that that kind of gameplay and using well known mechanics in a different way than usual can be so rewarding and fulfilling.

    This is not the game most people expected and they are angry about it. I cannot understand why for most of the people shoot, take hostage and escort in games like COD is great year by year and they claim is not dull and repetitive but when you have a different gameplay about not killing, about respecting life, then suddenly it is repetitive and dull. Death Stranding is a game about not killing, it is about rebuilding and connecting and how far we went from humanity shows that only "killing games" can satisfy most of the people. And if I cannot kill, if I have to make an effort to do something good - then it is dull and boring. How people react to this game shows the state of our minds as society. Kojima sees it too and made a game about it - there are countless situations when this game allows you to kill and as a gamer you know it will be the easiest. There are moments when your first idea will be to pull the trigger. But every time you do there are hard consequences and at one point even you can feel one of the character's disappointment that after all these hours you have learnt nothing, all you thought about was to pull the trigger as the only solution for each issue. It tells a lot about us and leaves us with tons of emotions.

    Not everything must be flashy, loud an fast. Games can be art - just like music and movies. They can have a message. They can have a message and at the same time be a huge fun. Stop and think for a minute, dive deep inside yourself. This game is one of very rare gems which will allow you to do so. And if this is what Kojima can do without Metal Gear - then I will always wait for next project of his because as he promised: he delivered something I have never seen and felt before.     I don't have much to say. I finished the game and it is a masterpiece. No jokes. When I was playing it, I loved it and I hated it. But in the end, ough my gosh, you will have one hell of the explanation of everything that has happened. So, in my opinion this was a game of the year.

    The game -although definitely divisive- is fun in it's own unique ways. It's a fascinating slow-burn masterpiece that's keeping me hooked. After 12 straight hours of playing I took the liberty of writing a review. The only thing that bugs me is the clunky menus. I was pleasantly surprised after reading many of the horrid things others had to say about it.

    Most of the bad reviews make it obvious that they played for a short time then came here seething. Once you hit chapters 3 and 4, and graduate from the most basic mechanic of delivery in the game, and pick up combat... it completes the experience. Then it gets even better with each part following. Shy away from the "OMG SO BORING" spam reviews. They didn't play the whole game.

    Such an incredible game as you journey across the map trying to understand and unravel what is going on with the death stranding, void outs and BTs. There are amazing characters and development of them; you feel like you know them and can see how they effect the bigger picture and Sam's life. BB is the best character IMO and this game is absolutely amazing.

    An experience I've never played before! Death Stranding is clearly not your typical game, but not because of that isn't enjoyable. If you are just judging this game because of the lack of action, get out of here and play Fortinite. This is clearly a piece of art with a beautiful message.

    I just love this quiet and mature experience. A very beautifully innovative trip, which gives a lot of personal thoughts and experiences. We really needs more creative games like DS.

    I don't know why but this game got me thinking of how I could never get into stardew valley. I've picked it up a few times, started playing for a few hours, never really "got" the core loop. But clearly the people who did "get it" see something incredible in the game. It's not for me I guess.

    I was prepared to be bored, I was prepared to have my time wasted. But perhaps its just me but I was hooked on this game from the get-go.

    Even people who seem to like this game keep taking about it as if it's a piece of modern art, to be endured and appreciated but not enjoyed. Well I say bull, this was the most fun I've had all year with a video game.
    Death stranding is my favourite Kojima game. I think it's my favourite video game altogether, though I think I'll have to wait and see how I feel about it in a few months.

    Starting off with a few cons:

    1. Repeated cut-scenes for entering/exiting private room and for delivering cargo ect. They can be skipped but it's irritating and they sometimes slip new cut-scenes in the middle.

    2. I'm not sure if this is a con but many people have complained about a slow build up. I think I see where they're coming from. But I really enjoyed the slow improvements to your delivering abilities. Really makes you appreciate every bridge a player puts down. Regardless Kojima will lose a lot of players to the first 3 hours or so.

    3. Odd dialogue. Don't get me wrong the vast majority is great and even the hammy bits of dialogue have a weird surreal charm to them. But still, prepare for the odd cringey line.

    The MGS DNA is still here there's a fair amount of stealth, though not as much as you might expect. It's not really about combat, though I enjoyed the combat that was peppered in there. It is about giving you impressive and surprising moments when getting from A to B. The variety of gear and ways to move keep accumulating on this core delivery mechanic. The online stuff takes it to a whole new level (playing this game offline is a serious mistake in my opinion, I think it could ruin it if you start off playing it offline).
    As you get further into the game the variety of added environments really change things up.

    I cant really tell you what the compelling moments were without spoiling it. But that's what I play games for, and this game gave me a treasure trove of compelling and engaging content. That's not even mentioning the bizarre Lynchian style story.

    So why am I giving it a 10 when I provided a couple of serious sounding cons. Because more than any game I've played this year I was just hit with so many memorable, gripping and surprising moments. I love this game.    … Expand

    This game isn't for everyone. The graphics are beautiful, the sound is amazing especially the music. The gameplay may come off monotonous, but it is very soothing to deliver a package. The story is very fascinating and keeps you using your mind.

    It might look dull at first glance but kojima made the delivery gameplay surprisingly addictive and engaging. It gets more interesting as new mechanics are introduced every chapter. Its not just a walking sim people! The world is beautiful as well.. every detail of its world has a purpose which made the world of death stranding believable.    Brilliant gameplay, world building and story.

    The only gripes i have are the exposition dumps and the clunky shooting mechanics.

    Most of the time, you'll be listening to a character explain something. There was no effort made to make it dramatic and engaging. Although there is great cinematic at the end of the game, it was a bit late for me to feel much about it.

    As for the shooting mechanics, the controls were designed for the main traversal gameplay. It didnt work well with chapters involving shooting... although chapters with gun battles were few.

    Overall the game is great! Im glad I played it. In a AAA industry dominated by looter shooters, battle royales, microtransactions, game passes etc... death stranding is a breath of fresh air    … Expand

    Most if not all of the people grilling the game with bad scores are ones who did not finish the game let alone reach half-way, so far loving every minute of it myself.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
