    This game is absolutely amazing. I've read some other reviews and have come to the conclusion that whoever gave poor reviews is a casual gamer. If you are casual then dont buy this but if you are a true gamer then you will love it.

    Is a new style of game. I love play, good music's, pretty graphics, play is relaxing. But are some tense moments in gameplay, almost a horror game. All this come with mysterious story.

    After over 40 hours of non-stop playing this masterpiece I can easily say it's one of the best games I've ever played. Worth every penny.

The beginning few hours in particular are heavy with walking to destinations with not a ton going on in terms of action (mostly stealth sequences) and at least an hour worth of cut scenes. So if you aren't into any of those things, this game is probably not for you.

    If you are, well you are in luck! It's a unique take on a post-apocalyptic scenario that most in the genre is usually either filled with zombies in an urban environment or a Mad Max type of hellscape world with marauders. This game is actually full of varying environments from moss covered mountains with rivers and streams to rocky desert environments (and this is just the two first zones). Flora and locations are very detailed and a few times I stopped and soaked in the scenery. Character models are amazing in terms of detail as well and definitely is pushing whatever version you have of the PS4 to the max! Only games in terms of graphics that rival this game on the PS4 is Detroit: Beyond Human. Voice overs are top notch, again on par with Detroit or close to any Naughty Dog game. Ambient sounds are well done such as thunder, rain, and rivers and over a long mission the game will throw a mellow indie song to go along with your adventure.

    Gameplay is unique or annoying depending on your prespective. You are essentially the Special Forces of package delivery, making treks over long distances and your packages take damage from falls, time-altering rain (yes that is a thing here), other humans who want your packages, while avoiding the occasional invisible ghost called a BT. To elaborate more on the falling part, you can trip on rocks, tip over if you are carrying too much weight, fall off cliffs...but you have a nice arsenal of handy equipment like ladders and rope to help you traverse these obstacles, with full blown bridges, truck, motorcycles, and user built roads later in the game.

    The multiplayer in this game is unique too as you don't play directly with anyone, and I'm not sure how many people are assigned to a zone/server with you (20-50 is my guess) but you can find other player's gear, vehicles, buildings and use it. For instance, you may be coming to a wide river and have no ladder to put horizontally across to ease the crossing but luckily another player thought of that and you can use theirs and distribute "likes" to the player for the ladder like you would a funny meme on Facebook (and that you should).

    Story is interesting IMO, but maybe too convoluted for some and the game doesn't go into detail about the who,what,when,where and how of some things until later in the game. Not going into the details of the story because it's all to some extent a spoiler. You play as Norman Reedus aka Sam and take items from point A to B is most simplistic summary I can give without giving anything away or straight confusing people with the actual details. Will just tell you this isn't your typically Call of Duty single player campaign of shoot bad guys, stop nuclear/biological/chemical weapon. Nothing wrong with those games ( I enjoyed the latest Modern Warfare campaign) but this game adds lots of unique ideas that I've never seen in other games, so most is going to be unfamiliar and hard to follow for some.

    All in all, really liked my time with the game thus far but as mentioned this is going to be a love or hate it type of game I think. People who enjoy walking sims will really like this because unlike most indie versions, this game has a lot going on in terms of finding things to do and exploring and really doesn't force you to continue the story or force you anywhere if you don't want to go there yet. I like that kind of independence in a game and think many others do too. Again, if this doesn't sound like your cup of tea but are somewhat intrigued, rent it. You will be able to tell in the first 5-6 hours if this is a game for you or not.    … Expand

    One of the most beautiful games I've ever played. It's a good relief from all the action games in the market right now. Admittedly, this game won't be everyone's cup of tea. The story can be overly complicated but very rewarding once you invest the time.

    Everybody is **** on the gameplay, just because they think it's repetitive. But in what action game do you do anything different that's not repetitive? It's a stupid conclusion, and you shouldn't judge the game by watching gameplay footage.
    Gameplay: It is way deeper than what the game shows, most tricks you can find out by experimenting with it. Reconnecting with people is rewarding, you feel good about yourself when you see your ranking go up. The game has different mechanics for traversal / rest / helping other players. Traversal can be hard with the vehicles, you can get stuck on every little rock, so I prefered running to my destination. Combat with humans is fun, not that deep but combat is not the point of the game. BT's can be a pain in the ass, but when you get weapons later, you can easily get rid of them. Players will help with there buildings and ladders and bridges, and you can help others too. Your buildings will appear in other's game.
    Story: Without spoiling anything, this game will make you think about our future, the world, and its people. I completed the game in 36 hours, and I'm gonna continue it, because it is fun!
    I recommend it to people, who loves thought-provoking stories, and doesn't mind a somewhat clunky but really fun gameplay!    … Expand

    I have a suspicion that people who are calling this game boring didn't play it and watched someone else play it on Twitch or something. Honestly, I was not very sure when I started this game due to toxicity on gaming platforms regarding this game, but I would recommend giving this game a try. It's nice to be part of something so wholesome.
    The music is fantastic, visuals are breathtaking and the story/acting is great.
    I never thought I would love this game when it first came out, but I was very wrong. This is a really good game, a breath of fresh air in an oversaturated industry of games field with "blow their brains out, go to the next level, rinse and repeat!"    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game has balls. As someone who grew up never playing Metal Gear this is my first Kojima game and overall a good gaming experience.

    The Pro's:

    The game loop is addicting. If you like world building games or open world adventure games this might be for you. After spending 100 plus hours getting platinum the gameplay is what keep me going. The game is polished right out of the case. A rare case in today's triple AAA market.

    The Cons:

    The story is bad, just bad. It's too on the nose for me. The characters writing is not good. Fragile is one of the worst written characters i've come across. You could have cut Higgs right out of the game and still have came to the same ending. He is one of the better written character too.

    Despite the meaning, the Amelie story thread was not what I wanted. I felt the that connecting the UCA was secondary for Sam as he was chasing after Amelie. So yes I was looking for your 'classic chase story' in which Sam chases after his sister to connect.

    Overall:

    A good and unique gaming experience in today's bland gaming space. I will never play the Metal Gear Series but look forward to his next project. Would recommend to all as a gaming experience and to some as a game. The highs are high and the lows are low; 7 out of 10 is about right for this game.    … Expand

    It’s a wonderful game that challenges you every step of the way. After spending 200 hours with the game I’m still discovering new things and ways to explore. Don’t let all of these fake accounts and fake reviews detture you from experiencing this.

I enjoy myself, building stuff, going through the story and taking in the atmosphere. I only wish sidequest were a bit more flesh out storywise; grinding for materials can be a bit boring but I need to complete these roads. Graphics are great, sound and gameplay also, I also like the story but i'm still on episode 7 so taking my time. One of the most special experiences of the last years (but not one of the best games... that one goes to god of war)… Expand

    It was beautiful, and I didn't encounter any notable glitches. My problem with it is it's a game built around what I feel are the worst of game mechanics. Over encumbrance, gear degradation, stamina management and fetch quests. There might be an interesting story there, but wading through hours of tedious game play drained all of the fun for me.

    A hunting and mesmorising masterpiece! No form of entertainment has ever made me feel the way death stranding made me feel. From the first encounter to the last I was on the edge of my seat. A truly epic lonely story, it's nothing less the perfection! 100/100

    With that out of the way this game is one of the best and probably the most original game concept of 2019 period, sure it has a WTF story line ?, and infact thats what makes it so good, the concepts and ideas grafted into this game are nothing short of brilliant. It is fresh and original and no one that has gamed for 30 years can say otherwise the graphics are amazing and the facial graphics are the best I've seen ever in any game developed EVER, did I mention the soundtrack also nice as Sam can replay the tracks anytime in game you like. If you complete all the side missions as well this game has easily 100 hrs playing scope. Although it does get long winded and monotonous near the last act of the game the journey is worth it. Just remember to use your "options" controller button to skip through the fluff. Play this game with a headset on and experience the real feeling when you first encounter BT's for the first time. Forget the kiddy reviews listed , read the real one's and experience a game you would never conceive.A masterpiece in gaming and thanks for the fresh ideas Kojima even if you did get a little lost in your own story narrative at times.This game is a bold Odyssey of exploration and discovery and must be played in it's entitreity to appreciate the games magic easily a 9.5/10 and in my top 10 games of 2019    … Expand

    E um jogo interessante, mas parece mais um simulador de caminhada, o ritmo e lento, o jogo se arrasta em missoes simples e a dificuldade e bem fraca, embora a historia seja muito boa, mas peca por ser gigantesco e em grande parte nas simplorias missoes e caminhadas absurdas q valem a pena pq os graficossao lindos, mas nao prende andar tanto assim!!

    Not gonna lie, I had my doubts when Kojima made this big emphasis on the BB because I hate babies and kids but I was pleasantly surprised. I really like games that take a mundane thing like farming, making mass production factories and then slowly give you tools to do said mundane thing more efficiently, many would have my head on a spike but I do thing breath of the wild could take a fewNot gonna lie, I had my doubts when Kojima made this big emphasis on the BB because I hate babies and kids but I was pleasantly surprised. I probably can't list all my pros but I'll try to pinpoint the main ones.

    Pros:
    - Norman Reedus is great as Sam and his improv is what make his character great, but could've used more of as he pretty much seems like Daryl from Walking dead but now in Death stranding.
    - The abundance of items and tools to make your journey easier, it made me wanna visit every prepper and get something from everyone form a harmonica to a level 3 non-lethal assault rifle.
    - Great characters, however wished I saw them more often but I assume it was in favour of making you feel more alone in this disconnected wasteland.
    - Story, very trippy but very enjoyable, although I felt characters explained things too much to be a realistic conversation for someone that's been in the apocalypse for 10+ years.
    - Beautiful scenery. I had doubts about it at first since a lot of games are just empty wasteland these days, I was surprisingly content throughout the journey despite the loneliness, thank's to very stunning landmarks.
    - Building constructs. I built a base in a mountain and maxed it out with a horizon zero dawn giraffe hologram walking on top of it and helped build many roads with other players, although don't expect all the roads you build will appear for everyone else, if you want more constructs from a person to appear, the game allows you to connect with them so you will see more constructs with said person.
    - The music!! Its so good and fits the mood perfectly, a lot are from Low Roar but there are other tracks from other bands you can listen to in the comfort of your own safe room.

    Cons:
    - Combat, although more than functional with a lot of non-lethal and lethal options, when it happened it kinda just got in the way of my goal as a delivery man and I found myself robbed more than once and giving me tools to defend myself came rather late into the game. Also when I get into combat, I'm more often than not ill equipped, as I'm covered in packages filled with sperm, eggs and old books.
    - Difficulty, I played on the hardest difficulty and it was a cakewalk. Although I haven't delivered cakes yet, only pies. However difficulty spikes are present and completely soured the experience in later parts of the game, even if they are brief.
    - BB, I hate babies and kids and having to stop to comfort it was something I found myself just ignoring, it felt a chore.
    - Vehicles. They control like absolute ass, at least since of the date of this review. They just felt like oversized rev up toys, sometimes I found myself stuck to a rock only to suddenly launch full speed away from like I never lost momentum at all, not any particular vehicle is bad, all of them are bad and require roads to be effective and roads are expensive and not everywhere.
    - No ingame MP3/music player. Unlike MGS5, there is no MP3 player or music player in death stranding, I assume its to not overshadow Low Roars great tracks that start playing depending where you are but there are a lot of silent moments and not being any way to play this big library of music I've collected even in the post game is a big shame.

    Overall, really enjoyed my experience and can't wait to see what Kojima comes up with next, but I'm keeping that collectors edition baby locked up forever in that plastic tomb where it belong until the end of time.    … Expand

    Pros: Great music, interesting mechanics, super actors and cut scenes.
    Cons: Too easy gameplay even on hard mode :)
    Anyway - I like it.

    The only game at the end of which I cried. Interactive movie. The game of actors, as well as the depth of the plot, is amazing. The game has a lot of unexpected twists. This is exactly the game that we deserve, we are those who were born before 2000.

    When your mechanics hinge on something as mundane as walking, the most exciting part of your game is building a road, and you boast a melodramatic story of nonsensical characters you have Death Stranding and you have a boring game.

    I've been an avid gamer for 15 years. This is, without a doubt, the worst game I have ever played. It is also the first game I haven't finished. A few key failings;

    - The character movement is awfully clunky, especially when riding the reverse trike. This is a very fundamental failing for a game in which you spend 99% of your time walking or driving around. - The controls are clunky,    I've been an avid gamer for 15 years. This is, without a doubt, the worst game I have ever played. It is also the first game I haven't finished. A few key failings;

    - The character movement is awfully clunky, especially when riding the reverse trike. This is a very fundamental failing for a game in which you spend 99% of your time walking or driving around.

    - The crying baby is immensely irritating.

    - This is the least compelling open-world game I've played. The world feels hollow and empty, and it isn't truly open - you regularly get funneled into areas with unavoidable hazards which is an incredibly artificial way to engineer a confrontation. Timefall also repeatedly occurs in the same places.

    - The game is plagued with cutscenes, prepare to sit through hours of them. Or skip them, many are essentially meaningless.

    - The game is also extremely linear and repetitive. It is essentially a giant fetch quest.

    One redeeming feature of the game is that it has a very unusual story, but this doesn't make it unique. Spend your money on the Witcher 3 or HZD, or literally anything else and save yourself the disappointment that is this game.    … Expand

    Did you like Red Dead Redemption 2? Detroit Become Human? Alien Isolation? Alan Wake? If so, then you'll love Death Stranding. The only downside is the gameplay. It's a lot more simplistic but it's not entirely the Amazon Prime delivery game most people make it out to be. There's plenty of stealth, exploration, navigation, combat, and character customization to keep you entertained. It's not just a walking simulator, it's much more then that. Yes there are guns and bikes you can use to speed the process up but the game has an equal amounts of up's and down's to set a smoother pace. Most importantly, it's entertaining from start to finish.

    I should also note that there are a LOT of cutscenes so if you have ADHD, this might not be the game for you. This is a game for the patient gamers that I also believe the average gamer will enjoy just as long as they give it an honest chance. So sit down, enjoy the ride and try not to worry so much about the lack of RPG mechanics the game could have. Worry about the story and atmosphere that will quite possibly never be forgotten.    … Expand

    Its a game for the lucky ones that will actually understand it. Lots of people are judging it basing just on prejudices. If you are capable and willing to try something that is more then a call of duty, give this masterpiece a try. You will not be disappointed. A true masterpiece.

    An incredible experience. A pondersome journey that is masterfully crafted to evoke emotions and meditation. Certainly not an experience that many people will like. If you're the type that has patience and an appreciation for the kind of deep weirdness that is Hideo's calling card then you may just fall in love with this bizzare experience... as I have.

    Deeply compelling sense narrative with survival horror elements. DS is an experience that stays with you long after you've put the controller down. It's a visually stunning game but here it truly succeeds is through it's dark mysterious narrative. Highly recommend the experience.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
