    My experiencie make me view this game as a pshysics-based hiking simulator with good concepts but bad integration of them into the game such as a boring/lifeless open-world with an IA Pretty bad and dumb of the few mobs that you are gonna cross (just throw them some blood granades and thats it) the backtracking lacks too. Even so it could had been an interesting experience to play if it wasn't buried by a pretencious and overly convoluted story that tryes so hard but fails so it gets buried in more stuff like a budget of 100M invested in an odissey of cutscenes,indie bands and monster energy drinks to make her look more appealing. But if the basic concepts and plot are superflous that 100M in cutscenes,ost and high quality animations it make it just worse and less appealing.
    This last days some people say that a game doesnt have to be fun to be good. I kinda agree,sometimes you are not playing a game and having "fun" but yet feeling enwrapped by another kind of feelings and emotions strong enough to keep you playing. So to finish this review i'll say that a good game has to be captivating to be good and sadly death stranding it wasnt captivating for me it was the opposite.

    Mailman meets Climbing Mount Everest Simulator. Fun, yet slow and tedious sometimes. Worth playing just for the experience, but very awkward moments in the story sometimes.

    Death stranding could have been a much better game, if not for the monotonous gameplay. The fact that the game actually expects you to slowly walk everywhere with cargo stacked sky high on your back is ridiculous, and disrespectful to your time as a player. I used vehicles anytime the game let me, and its honestly the only reason I was able to finish it. You are constantly getting stuck on everything since the entire world is covered by rocks that you should be able to drive over, but cant. I found myself tiring of the gameplay quickly and only did the main missions, using vehicles to complete them as easily as possible, which worked. There is far too much useless dialogue and small cutscenes, and after a few hours I was skipping everything that was not a main cutscene. The story and main cutscenes are fun, but its pretty dumb overall, and some parts of the game left my mouth agape as I tried to comprehend the stupidity of what I was watching. There are good parts of the story I actually liked, but the game takes far too long actually getting to the good stuff, and ends up info dumping you in cutscenes toward the end. Combat in the game is nothing special and you have pretty much no reason to even waste your time with it. The bosses are all bullet sponges with nothing interesting changing up the fight, I got tired of them and turned the difficulty down to kill them quickly. I thought the boss designs were pretty cool though. I feel as though this game failed to deliver(no pun intended) whatever experience or message it was trying to convey. I just found myself trying to blast through the game in the quickest way possible, ignoring any side activities because I was too annoyed and didnt really care. I give it a 6/10. A game that could have been much more fun, and a story that feels totally up its own butt at times. If the game goes on sale for cheap, grab it as its a somewhat unique experience, but not what I would call a good one.… Expand

    Such a brilliant game, and a lot to unpack overtime. It won’t come together story wise until the latter half of the title but it’s worth it. The gameplay evolves as you progress and the variations in gameplay from combat to traversal are fantastic. Recommend playing on hard. Would probably give it a ten, but there are quite a few janky animations that cost me perfect deliveries. FantasticSuch a brilliant game, and a lot to unpack overtime.     1. Игра долго раскачивается, погружает вас в мир игры, показывает механики, думаю многих это может достать. 2. Такое ощущение что игру делали по ходу набора людей в новую студию, все о той же медленной раскачке. 3.     4. Потом пройдя где то 60% худо бедно на изучении игры и паре хороших кат сцен разрабов видать торкнуло, ну или штат нормально пополнился и пошло самое что ни на есть мяско, прям как положено, с привязанностью к персонажам, раскрытием сюжета, драматическими моментами и так далее.
    5. Именно за эти 40% ставлю 10-ку, правда там ещё крутая механика игры, физика ну и вот это все НО за атмосферу и итоговое раскрытие сюжета эта игра стоит покупки.
    6. Тем кому не понравилось как по мне просто не въехали или не хотели въезжать ожидаю очередную военную драму от Кодзимы...    … Expand

The story was very deep and engaging within an extravagant dystopia post apocalyptic setting. Imagine watching a movie and wondering what happens between scenes for the characters, this game “bridges” those moments with a nice dose of reality. Is there a lot of walking around, yeah there is until you are capable of building your own vehicles and then using zip lines. I dont see replay value other than to look for easter eggs but you don’t have to start a new game for that. I believe i missed out on some missions because I didn’t keep up with my mail until later. I would replay just for those as it seems like they have to be completed at specific times and not at the endgame open play.

    I will admit this may take a particular gaming palate for someone to fully appreciate this work of art. Because that is what Kojima has created here.    … Expand

    Obviously not for everyone but personally found this game to be quite a masterpiece. I couldn’t put it down until I beat it and even after I’m jumping back in from time to time. The story was just wonderful and moved me the way I was moved by games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. The world is just so unique and mysterious. A great entry point for me as this is my firstObviously not for everyone but personally found this game to be quite a masterpiece. I couldn’t put it down until I beat it and even after I’m jumping back in from time to time. The story was just wonderful and moved me the way I was moved by games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. The world is just so unique and mysterious.     This is by far one of the most remarkable games ever created. The gameplay loop is very simple and some what repetitive but the feel of it is truly unique. It isnt for everyone... that's for sure. I can see that... like if I was to look at a famous painting. I'd just see.... a painting. But someone who is a fan of art and has followed artists for a while.. start to pick up on eachThis is by far one of the most remarkable games ever created. For me.... that is Death Stranding. Since 2016 I have watched every trailer over and over. I've watched you tubers break down those trailers. The community theorize over and over up until release day. If you watched a film based on a book and loved it... youd probably want to buy the book to fully be immersed in the narrative. The trailers and theories for me are the film. The Game is the book. I can only hope for a VOL. 2. If you are blind to the game... have no idea about any of it.... then you'll probably most likely not fully enjoy it the way I have. It can take about 5-6 hours of a linear approach to really get going. After that.... The world will be yours to explore, alone, but connected. Maybe even to me. :)… Expand

    Porting brings a peace that is not found in most games. The story is interesting, though there were times when it was over simplified and others when things were poorly explained. Overall it was an enjoyable and refreshing gaming experience! Zip lining is the most fun I've had in a game in a while!

    Kojima Productions have created a masterpiece. The story is excellent, the characters are fleshed out, the gameplay is great, the world is fully realised, and foreshadowing is everywhere.

    This was one of the most unique, refreshing, and memorable experiences I've ever had, both with the game play and the story. I've completed the game twice now on two different accounts, squeezing as much content out of the game as I could. And I'm still addicted to it. I could go for a third playthrough. Kojima Productions knocked it out of the park. The story for this game really gets u thinking about both the pro's and con's of connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting within society.     I certainly enjoyed this game overall. I love the environment, the game mechanics, the music, the online structure sharing. The game felt challenging and rewarding in an interesting way, getting to your destination was a challenge in itself and felt relieving to see your destination in the distance to a nice song by Low Roar.     Despite It's a single player game, but more like an co-op game than an other typical co-op game. Paving the way with other players is never been experienced in other games. Even just walking makes a path for others.

    A masterpiece, but the delivery system and lack of action in the gameplay makes it a bit boring and tiring. However the best game on technical issues I've ever had the pleasure of playing and the ending fully compensates for the trajectory.

    For me, it deserves a 9.6 Only Hideo Kojima is able to make a "Walking Simulator" so interesting and inmersive. The acting, the story and that feeling of wanting to help other players through structures and delivering their cargos is superb. For those attacking the game, i just will say one thing: Play the game. Sure, it's not for everyone but i'm pretty sure thet many of those 'critics'For me, it deserves a 9.6 Only Hideo Kojima is able to make a "Walking Simulator" so interesting and inmersive. Despite the problems with MGS4, Peace Walker and MGS5, they at least still had moments of greatness. The same can't be said for Death Stranding.     En cuanto a las mecánicas jugables el juego sorprende en un inicio para después transformarse en la apoteosis del tedio. El juego abusa y recontrabusa de mecánicas repetitivas donde la estrella es....andar . Su online es testimonial.

    post apocalyptic amazon prime the movie.... and you know what? it's not bad. If you know what to expect, like weird stories, and enjoy some of the more relaxing busy elements of non-action games. Then you'll probably enjoy it.

    I would say this is one of the more polished and better games of 2019.

    Yes it's a very beautiful game and yes the story is confusing until a point but that is sort of expected from a hideo Kojima game. I seriously do look forward to the next game that he makes but I hope it isn't another Death Stranding.

    Its all the tropes of an open world fetch/delivery quest loop without any of the fun attached that other games have done well. Dont forget about how horrible the control is. Game insists upon itself and is just weird for the sake of it. tries too hard to be art. Possibly the worst game kojima has directed.

    I really, really, really wanted to love this game, but I cannot. It's so boring I just can't justify wasting my time to push through to get to the story parts. I spend hours trying to help other players out, but it's not worth it. I highly recommend to just skip the side content and do the story deliveries instead.

    Pathetic imagery (men carrying babies), PC lecturing (men be nice, men do as told, reconnect all communities, walk around a lot on silly errands, do not fall), and worse of all....very very boring. I wasted $60 on a game that seems like so much of recent efforts to remake the world according to 21st century mores.

    Death Stranding is an amazing story about connecting people. It’s one of the best games I have played and definitely my game of the year. The music is phenomenal and the game is so beautiful. The story keeps you wanting to know more and when I finished the game, all I wanted to do was start over. If you love story driven games, you should definitely check this one out!

    I got more than 20 hours now and Im in chapter 3. The delivery topic which other reviewers seen in a bad way is of course a main characteristic on the game, but: the faster you move forward with the story, the easier this will be. So don’t waste all time in the 1st area and leave with the ship as you get the offer.

    What I really like a lot, is the way the multiplayer working this game. Instead of putting all gamers in a overfilled world, you can participate in the buildings they made and build streets and bridges together with materials everyone spend. It’s such a great pleasure to run through an rough terrain and find ladders, ropes and bridges other players left for you.

    This is one of the best games of the last years! I enjoyed once the story of the original mafia and gtaV is still one of my favorites. But death stranding got now my number 1!    … Expand

    I was suffering from a mild anxiety since May this year, and playing through Death Stranding, rebuilding UCA, connecting to the    Death Stranding delivered everything I wanted and expected in a Kojima-san game. Heck, thinking more through it, it totally surpassed my expectations: visuals, gameplay, performance, fun-factor, score, soundtrack - everything, in fact - is brilliantly executed.
    I was suffering from a mild anxiety since May this year, and playing through Death Stranding, rebuilding UCA, connecting to the main characters and other Porters made me feel complete and helped cure my issue. I can safe say Death Stranding is exactly what I need and it came at the right time.
    I quite don't understand or agree on the users low score or the reason they find it boring (every game is going to point A to B), but I respect their opinions. I just say with you are in doubt, maybe this game is not for you (or any other game you are in doubt of, as a matter of fact).     Death Stranding excels as a movie.... but as a game, it falls flat. The gameplay is BORING, repetitive and linear, there's NO actual risk, no AI, the game can be easily cheesed by holding the 2 triggers simultaneously as you walk into a barren, empty wasteland.

    Overcoming the torture of a gameplay it has for it's story is not for everyone. Not for me definitiviely.

    Why is there only one animation for each interaction and you have to watch it. If you drink a Monster(tm) it always plays the same animation this goes for everything adding only to the repetitive game-play.
    Who thought crying baby sounds are what a game needs? And the electric bike sounds will make you mute the game.
    Why make such a great environment when I just follow a line on the ground.

    TL;DR
    There were some really talented people working on this game but it all got degraded by hideous game-play and a general lack of overall direction. For a game so story heavy the story is heavily lacking.    … Expand

    I'm into around 20 hours of the game, and that pretty much sums up my experience with Death Stranding. I was careful to not write an opinion on this game until I had enough hours put in as Kojima games can take a little time to get going, but he tends to start off at a warm temperature and by the end of the game things get nuclear. That's typically his style, so a player is usually not going to have trouble signing up for one of his journeys. But Death Stranding is no thrill ride. Even the dangerous stuff isn't all that dangerous and in the absence of motivation, I'm having difficulty justifying the time spent to endure Kojima's latest work.

    It's a marvel to look at, but I'll get to the point; there's no excuse to make 30 fps games any more. I've been critical of other titles like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and Horizon: Zero Dawn for running at that framerate and when this title comes out next year on PC, likely running at a blazing 60 fps and above (as is typically the case in the PC world), I suspect that we all may feel kind of silly about playing games in this manner. The only title I would give a pass for 30 fps would be Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is a masterpiece that should be shown at The Louvre. BoTW is a work of art that changed the world. No other game gets this pass, certainly not Death Stranding.

    Kojima gets some points in the form of technical achievement, but when you're attempting to immerse the player in a game that can last 50 hours or more, you're not being profound by withholding details about characters, settings, and context when you need these elements to establish an emotional connection to the player. If the game doesn't build its case for the player to continue on a journey within 5 minutes of pressing start, the experience will feel hollow. It saddens me to think that when I compare this to anything else Kojima has done, it does not stand shoulder to shoulder with any other title from his body of work.     This is an expensive qwop game. Kojima has done a fair job of recreating the Lake District environment (minus the lakes) but is severely lacking gameplay. I can look at this and ascribe all sort of artsy fartsy shenanigans to this but it’s just a waste of money.

If nothing else, it serves as a valuable indictment of the gaming press - that they could all be so rooked by this and unable to judge whether the game succeeds at the most basic test - being fun to play - seems to indicate something deeply rotten in the games journalism corps. Imagine if we could have gotten Kojima's efforts towards this applied towards a game with a good premise, good gameplay and a less insane story? That's the true disappointment here.     Unlikely in many open world games, there is no coin in DS. Nothing you do in the game is for money. You are helping people. The interest is in helping each other, because these people are incapable to do the Sam's job. This is one of the most amazing aspects of the game: everything has a purpose that ultimately culminates in something even more extraordinary.

    Just like the other Kojima games, killing people in DS is a bad idea, and as bad as it may be, it is still nice to see how the game world changes if you go out killing everyone.

    Also, DS gameplay is amazing, unique and addictive. As you progress, the gameplay gets more complex, making you think very carefully in what you will use.

    The characters are striking and charismatic and DS story is one of the most incredible and complex this generation, and even the previous one.

    The last time I was so intrigued by a game was back in 2013 with TLOU.

    DS is just an extremely remarkable and humanized experience that I will never forget.

    The overarching goal is to "rebuild/reconnect America" and bring people back together, group hug and all that.

    Basically, you spend lots of time walking, exploring and making deliveries. Other players can leave things in your world to be helpful (constructing roads, warning signs, ladders, climbing ropes, etc) but this is a single player game and a lonely one at that.

    You will occasionally encounter Mules (nomad porters), other friendly NPC porters or BT's (ghosts basically), but the majority of your time is spent traveling, pathfinding and managing cargo.

    It's oddly addicting and I really didn't think it would be. Then again, its the first unique game I've played in a very long time. It's very story/character focused and I love that.    … Expand

    Le puse un par de horas al juego, su apartado técnico es muy bueno pero su entorno está vacío y no hay nada que hacer. Las misiones son las mismas siempre ir de un punto A a B y después de B a C todo el tiempo. El juego es tedioso y muy aburrido se le ha hecho mucha publicidad nada mas. No vale nada

    Its a game not everyone can understand... it has an inmersive narrative and during the cinematics you can see how much the actors have put effort on it... Kojima did great.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
