    You either GET IT or you just DON"T GET IT...period. For me, this game was an extremely introspective and philosophical experience that made me question the meaning of existence and human interaction. The narrative TRULY made my head swirl, philosophizing and theorizing the meaning of it all.

    The purpose of Death Stranding was NEVER an exciting and addicting traditional "gameplay"    You either GET IT or you just DON"T GET IT...period. For me, this game was an extremely introspective and philosophical experience that made me question the meaning of existence and human interaction. The narrative TRULY made my head swirl, philosophizing and theorizing the meaning of it all.

    The purpose of Death Stranding was NEVER an exciting and addicting traditional "gameplay" experience. In fact, Hideo Kojima was purposely poking fun at gaming/social media culture and satirizing with social commentary at every turn. It cracks me up to read all the comments about Death Stranding boiling down to a glorified FedEx simulator...those people just DON'T GET IT. Hate to say it, but I just don't think the majority of people playing video games in this day and age have the attention span and mental capacity to truly appreciate an experience like this.     Death Stranding es una obra que si bien no es para todos los públicos, es capaz de engancharte si sabes abrir tu mente y dejarte llevar por ella. Kojima ha sabido reinventarse e innovar en un título que si bien se centra en su historia, es capaz de aportar un gameplay adictivo y que te motiva a seguir jugando y progresar. Es cierto que en alguna ocasión puede hacerse algo repetitivo oDeath Stranding es una obra que si bien no es para todos los públicos, es capaz de engancharte si sabes abrir tu mente y dejarte llevar por ella. Kojima ha sabido reinventarse e innovar en un título que si bien se centra en su historia, es capaz de aportar un gameplay adictivo y que te motiva a seguir jugando y progresar. Es cierto que en alguna ocasión puede hacerse algo repetitivo o llevarte al hastío, sin embargo creo que esto es parte de la experiencia para sumergirte aún mas en el viaje de Sam Porter.     Absolute boring **** More cutscenes than actual gameplay, and the gameplay is boring, walking simulator is to say a lot of this game, is more a long ass movie with 2 seconds of doing **** nothing in a huge empty world

    Probably one of the worst games of the decade. A big disappointment. The game bores and tires equally. It's basically walking all the time in an empty world. Where is the fun in that?

    I just simply love this game. Its very addictive. Theres no Satisfaction that beats the one you get after youve travelled through rough terrains to get to your destination. I get more deliveries done than I do the main story

    However, when I do get to get back on track with the story, the level of attention, interest just hits the charts, because the story is just amazing and absolutely    I just simply love this game. And lets not forget about how beautiful the open world is. Wow, its huge and its beautiful, well built, it wants you to explore it, and good thing you always have a reason to do so with the orders and deliveries you need to make to connect the world.

    With all this said and done, the game is not for everyone. And thats why I got it myself, because I wanted to see if it was for me, and evidently it is. Because im havibg fun with it..    … Expand

    I only played this for a couple of hours because a friend of mine borrowed it to me. I am glad I did that because I would feel very bad if I had spent a dime on that. This walking simulator is not worth buying.

    Il nulla mascherato da qualcosa. Un gioco vuoto, fatto di niente, che si carica di un nome e di una "regia" altisonante. Un gioco così fatto da un altro publisher e non da Kojima avrebbe mietuto recensioni agghiaccianti.

    Estou para finalizar o jogo.
    E jogo mostra a evolução do personagem principal, uma história que te deixa mais curioso a cada capítulo, mecânicas do jogo muito boas de acordo com o local e o sistema online ajuda bastante.
    Vale muito a pena esse jogo.

    Para mi este juego es un insulto a los jugadores,hay gente de la prensa que le ha puesto nota como juego perfecto sin habérselo pasado y analizado profundamente,es un juego muy aburrido y que recomienden un juego simplemente por ser de Hideo Kojima me parece una vergüenza .

    No lo recomiendo

    Se vende como un juego de acción y lo último que tiene es acción. Juego aburrido, con un mundo abierto vacío con el que no se puede interactuar. Las misiones principales consisten en llevar un paquete de un lugar a otro, sin más. Ni divierte, ni entretiene, es decir, que no tiene nada de videojuego.

I say “may” because this game is slow!

    A secondary and almost completely over looked game play mechanic is helping other players. I think this might be the part of the game I like the most. You can deliver cargo the found but where unable to deliver themselves, you can build bridges and roads to help the get around, and after you have built something or even just helped them finish building something, then you get to see when other people use your buildings.

    Menu Screen Hell – One thing this game really messed up is the menu screens. I will not get into explaining why they suck as a lot of people have already done that much better than I can.

    Story:

    It is not easy to separate story from game play in Death Stranding because so much of the game play tells the story. Your character, Sam, is a loner who is establishing connection between other people and then eventually becomes connected to these people as you (the player) become connected to other players.

    I just love this game, wouldn't necessarily play it for a 2nd time though, but, it's a uniquely unforgettable game. One that stands out among the others.

    the game is amazing. Of course you have to wait for the best part of the game to come out but the time you spend doing all the deliveries immerse yourself in the game and helps you to understand better the amazing plot of Death Stranding

    Awesome gameplay, awesome story, and a great world realized by a master author. This game made me happy, sad, mad, melancholic, cry and had me realize to stop being so isolated and try and build some connections to the ones around you. There are some glitches and the vehicles control weird/bad, but those small complains do not hamper this, for me, 200 hour game of the year cannidate.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really love this game. When you get into Chapter 4 is when it really takes off. You finally get weapons and it starts to feel more like MGS. I bought the standard version and I just ordered the PS4 4 Death Stranding limited edition because I want to see it in 4k. I am only in Chapter 9, but I am already hooked.     Best experience i ever had with a game. It's unique with it's own way and is fun to play. When you deliver a package to it's destination you get the feeling of completion, just like in a souls game after you beat a hard boss....I heavily recommend to all the gamers out there to give it a try and have there minds blown.

    Through compelling story telling medium, Kojima delivered the idea that video games have the potential to be so much more than just entertaining. Dull game play mechanics, but amazing story line and visuals. If you beat the game, you will most likely change your negative reviews about this game. Slow build up and lack of interesting combat mechanics are the only downsides of this game.

    Tendo um cenário cheio de detalhes e múltiplas opções de exploração fica fácil de ser perder no game apenas Admirando o cenário, porém, com tanto do que já falei ficou claro a falta de vida, mas claro, o que vc queria de um game pós apocalíptico ???

    As a movie, it works very good, it haves all what a movie needs, script, photography , charisma in characters... but as a video GAME doesnt give enything new, repetitive, monotonous... i think the only point in favour is the music, because of the timing but i think you better buy the ost, unless you want to walk in a game from point A to point B forever, or in 40 hrs...

If you play on Easy, and concentrate only on the story, you'll like have the Hideo Kojima experience that you were hoping for; But even then,Death Stranding is a game you'll like or hate, but you will have trouble *loving* it.     I have been playing Death Stranding for more than a month now, finished it and started a new game and it has given me a lot of gaming-satisfaction. As many have pointed out, the game can not possibly be for everyone but for those that like organizing Zip-Lines for a cross country fastest possible deliveries, it is :-) I give this game a ten out of ten.

    I saw Death Stranding coming from a mile away back when I played MGS5. MGS5 had all the warning signs: the repetitive fetch quests; the laborious (often meaningless) trekking across featureless, uninteresting landscapes; the overwrought, cartoonish plot, but MGS5 still had amazing game play. My biggest gripe about Death Stranding is I didn't always find it very enjoyable. Sometimes, theI saw Death Stranding coming from a mile away back when I played MGS5. MGS5 had all the warning signs: the repetitive fetch quests; the laborious (often meaningless) trekking across featureless, uninteresting landscapes; the overwrought, cartoonish plot, but MGS5 still had amazing game play. My biggest gripe about Death Stranding is I didn't always find it very enjoyable. Sometimes, the game took me off my feet, and the BTs and the story and setting were top-notch, thoroughly developed, and very interesting, but the game often lapsed into repetitive tedium that made me dread coming back to it. By the time I had reached the last area, I had moved on to playing The Outer Worlds.

The soundtrack and voice acting and some of the scenes were just breathtaking, but I don't know if I would call it a totally enjoyable experience.     Death strandings gameplay reminds me of golf. Not mechanicaly or requiring similair skills, but purely its ability to ruin an otherwise pleasant walk. The opening chapters intruduces a beautiful world that begs to be explored, and graphically speaking this game is probably the best I've ever seen. The opening chapters are all about delivering objects on foot,    "Golf is a good walk spoiled"
    Death strandings gameplay reminds me of golf. Not mechanicaly or requiring similair skills, but purely its ability to ruin an otherwise pleasant walk. The opening chapters intruduces a beautiful world that begs to be explored, and graphically speaking this game is probably the best I've ever seen. The opening chapters are all about delivering objects on foot, and with minimal obstacles the game is at least an enjoyable walk. When you are running around the barren landscapes theres something cathartic and relaxing to be enjoyed here. In addition the soundtrack kicks in during quiet moments which adds to the experience with some of the best music Ive heard recently in a game.

    As the game progresses, new obstacles are added to the game, BT enemies (stealth vs stealth encounters) will slow you down and try to damage your cargo. Mules will try to steal your cargo and terrorists will try to kill you. Rain will come down in droves (aka "timefall") which will damage your gear and cargo. Snow will cause you to move slowly, and damage cargo as well. These obstacles are all introduced to the game to add variety, peril and challenge. But all they do is spoil this games only true gameplay strength; a good walk.

    Whenever these obstacles show up, you are rarely in the mood for their nonsense. They are either irritating to the point of discouraging the player to even bother, or they waste your time in the most insulting way outside of a mobile phone EA game. The quests require a lot of backtracking, tedious marches or annoying drives (hitting tiny boulders causes the vehicle to grind to a halt, and they are very difficult to control). Absolutely no part of this amounts to fun. Stealth and combat is serviceable, though , but nothing special. The game would be better without them. Dealing with these obstacles can be easier with the right gear, to the point of it being a simple lock and key mechanic. If, however, you dare to not carry each of the right keys then your in for a bad time. In a game where carry weight is a significant factor, carrying all the right gear is tedious and actively discouraged. As well as unintentional backtracking (through mission failures etc) there is a significant amount of intended backtracking. In a game thats already far too long, this padding is entirely unecessary.

    Multiplayer aspects are strong, where players can use structures built by others to skip parts of the game. The fact that this is a celebrated feature shows how weak the gameplay is.

    The main hook of the game is its narrative. The story is very unique here, and keeps the player wanting to find out more about the world.
    The dialogue, acting and writing is generally very good. If it wasn't, then this reviewer would not have put up with the rest of the game, and it would remain uncompleted. The story can come across as pretentious at times but that is my main gripe.

    To conclude, music, graphics, story and multiplayer are all excellent. Gameplay is king however, and in this aspect Death Stranding falls down dramatically. It wastes your time and overall the payoff isnt worth the effort. I cannot reccomend this game, however i can reccomend watching the cutscenes or a stort synopsis. If you do insist on playing it, put it on easy and run past all the obstacles.    … Expand

    Never before I ever played something as boring and frustrating as this game. Where, in comparison, games like The Sims and Minecraft are much more fun to play than this game.     Different and unique , it reveals to you a new way of playing and enjoying a game . I kept buying titles and just be bored shortly after started playing but I somehow managed to sink 100 hours in Death Stranding .. Not whitout some good reasons . The best thing is to discover the game by yourself

    This game is not for everyone but it's definitely for me. The story is absolutely amazing and the ending is great, the best i have seen in a game for a long time. This is a genre defining game and really good at it. Well done Hideo Kojima!!!

    The hate surrounding Death stranding is fake, false, and is nothing but a bunch of idiots there complain about a game being the same every year but when death stranding which is a game that is very original very new and is very different comes out they complain about it. The message it carries and all its positivity in a death surrounded world are remarkably one of the most original setting I've seen in this generation. Kojima has yet again outdone himself. The entire cast felt convincing, the world, despite its emptiness and loneliness,Bold, comforting, simple and compelling. Those are the 4 words that defined my Death Stranding experience as a player. The message it carries and all its positivity in a death surrounded world are remarkably one of the most original setting I've seen in this generation. Kojima has yet again outdone himself. The entire cast felt convincing, the world, despite its emptiness and loneliness, feels comfortable, like lying under a blanket in a rainy day. I don't know if the game needed to exist or if it will create a genre but that's how art goes and as far as playing, I've experienced a 100% bug-free gameplay, with incredible animations, smooth and addicting gameplay and memorable set-pieces.     Kojima has done it again. This game is fantastic is has my vote for game of the year. The story came out really well, not a surprise since it's from Kojima. Very beautiful to look at. And once the game starts giving you all the crazy features to explore the world, I was hooked.     Your primary goal is delivering packages, and that gameplay mechanic is actually done pretty well. Though it is slow paced and isn't for everyone. You'll get reasonable means to improve your package delivery capabilities as you play, such as vehicles and augments for your body. This keeps the package delivery interesting.

    The challenges for delivering packages seem difficult at first, but quickly become easy. Slow and steady wins the race of package delivery. learning to offload packages before fighting bandits will normally allow you to win with no consequences. And the primary enemies of the game (the ghost things) become a bit too easy after you obtain means to kill them.

    The graphics are the best I've seen on PS4, but It's too bad I'm not a graphics nerd. I'm here for the story..

    And the story is disappointing. Specifically, the world building is bad and the character motivations are unbelievable. I should have known going into a game with characters named Mama, Deadman, and Die-Hardman.

    The writing is a complex web of near-nonsense that the average person considers "deep" since they don't take the time to analyze it. It's full of random references with no meaningful themes. For example, the director apparently likes tardigrades, so made his own super tardigrade with its own shallow backstory so that players can have something to eat to rejen health (blood).

    Every bit of video-gamey nonsense has its own backstory: How people deal with the dead is related to ancient Egyptian mummies. Babies that you carry around can help you see the dead because they basically weren't born. A persistent sickness in the world is primarily being cured by "likes" that you get for delivering things (yes seriously, facebook-type likes). The reason why you must walk to deliver packages is because there's dead-people particles in the air.

    Writing backstories for all of this nonsense isn't good writing if nothing links the stories together. The best I could do to tolerate it was to start ignoring the nonsense and keep trucking along with my packages. Although I was frequently pulled out of my ignorance-is-bliss lull when the characters started spouting nonsense again.

    I did frequently wonder why I was apparently the only guy able to deliver packages and why they had me walking most of the time when there were perfectly good vehicles sitting in the parking lots.. So I made up my own story: everyone you see is a hologram and they can't interact easily with physical goods, and here I was saving the world, being the only physical being in existence that could help them.. If only that were the actual story...    … Expand

    Kojima was allways overrated and this game proves it. Only the diehards fan of him will say this game is good. But this should be considered a movie. Cause there is no gameplay here.

    I started game and took me couple hours to get use if the controls and the rest.Its weird but very addictive after a while.iam on 60h + now and can't stop playing it.Sounds and graphics are top.But The deepnes of it it's not for everyone.

    Lets start with the good. This is the most beautiful game I have ever played. It just looks breathtaking. The variety of the map is also wonderful, from the snowy mountains to the dry and barren canyons. The music is also excellent and fits into the game world. I am so glad Death Stranding introduced me to the band Low Roar. The game audio is also wonderful, I played with Sennheiser headphones which maybe managed to get the most out of the game.

    The story was above average and did keep me engaged for the most part. I did find myself getting immersed in the world. The delivery of the story by the actors was also very good and on par with the beauty of the world.

    Now for the controversial bit...gameplay! For me it was not bad. I enjoyed my treks across the world, and also the moments of suspense when you come across BT and MULE territory. The driving however, left much to be desired. Driving was just a convenient way to get from A to B, I took no pleasure in it. The boss fights were also interesting but not very challenging albeit, I played on normal difficulty. Maybe try hard if you want more of a challenge.

    So, in conclusion, graphics 10, music 10, audio 10, story 8, gameplay 7 giving this game an average of 9.    … Expand

    An almost perfect game. It's certainly not for the impatient. Story was amazing, easily understood but with some nice surprises along the way. Would recommend for anyone who likes to take their time and enjoy the journey, not the destination.

    Gameplay-wise, it boils down to a trekking simulator where weight, health, weather conditions, and enemies need to be monitored to successfully complete deliveries.
    The mysterious nature of the plot is it’s biggest redeeming factor, but there’s a lot that kills the experience, and most of it comes in the form of advertising, heavy mission repetition, or confusing menus.
    When your character showers, you’ll be reminded of AMC’s Ride with Norman Reedus. When your character is thirsty and in need of energy, you’ll be reminded that Monster Energy Drink gives you what plants crave.
    The asynchronous multiplayer (again, not new to video gaming) only helps muddy the waters. Turn a corner and the world can be littered with peoples junk, making you feel like the janitor at the end of a block party.

    So why the 5? There’s good times to be had playing this. Gradually getting more and more perks provides a nice slow progression curve, feels nice when you get a motorcycle or a little robo-mule. Besides that, trekking is enjoyable to me IRL and some of that comes across while playing.

    We’re all out here to experience some escapism, it’s okay to not like something. It is also okay to like it. Be safe everyone, keep connecting.    … Expand

    To be honest I have always like kojima games but this one is different there is so much walking to do, the world feels empty, its like doing secondary missions all the time the story is a mess also, I am really dissapointed at this game as a fan of Hideo Kojima. In the end its a really boring game.

    It is a shame that Kojima made a playable movie with his ego so goddamn far up his ass that he forgot to put a GAME in it. Crackdown 3 has a bad story and bad graphics and is STILL A FAR BETTER GAME to spend your hours on it than this. Konami was right

    Really cool game once you get your head around it. Starts off slow and unusual, but as you progress to more challenging terrain, and you get more gadgets, the game really opens up. Took me about 60 hours to beat it.
    Not for kids or adults with short attention spans, this game asks you to play by interesting new rules, and if you let it, it just might suck you in.

    The gameplay really sucks for me personally. I was looking for the time when enemies will appear and you have to fight but it got even worse after i experienced that. Wait for a sale if you are interested in this game anyways. Graphic and story is really good tho.

Moving your weight around and making sure to check what slopes are the best for traversal made me feel like I was hiking on vacation. I lost countless hours just wondering around building the interstate that leads from east coast to west coast. I loved everything about to ambiance of the game and how isolated you would feel. Some people would argue that there is nothing to interact with, where are all the people?! Well since its a scary time to go outside in America, it makes sense and the isolation feels very real. Sam as a character is great and at first he barely speaks his peace and mind. Then throughout the game he slowly starts to open up and connect with more and more people. In the end, this game captivated me from the very first cutscene to the end credits. I loved it and personally think people hate on this game just to hate. Now I like Kojima but before I played Death Stranding, I didn't think he was the creative genius everyone puts him out to be. But now after playing this masterpiece in storytelling and innovative gameplay, I am here to say I am going to buy whatever he makes next, no questions asked after what I experienced playing this game.… Expand

    I spent 56 hours being Sam Porter Bridges..
    Making deliveries and connecting UCA..
    Kojima said he's creating a new genre and he hopes it will be looked at as a new standard in 10 years or something..
    I can guarantee that this Genius did what i expected..
    A new refreshing innovative well implemented perfectly excuted experience..

It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
