    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn’t pre order this game, I knew nothing about it. I bought the game 2 days after release after watching some gameplay and reading reviews. This game is amazing, the visuals the sound design, the gameplay itself. It is slow to start I’ll grant it that, if you like combat it’s in there, it’s not in your face all the time and more often than not you can sneak or silently take out enemies. However if you want to get into some fights and make it at high action game, it can be that too. Jump into a pack of BT’s and fight the catcher which is like a mini boss fight. Run into a group of MULES and punch to your hearts content. The game can be played how the player wants. I prefer sneaking and only getting my hands dirty when I have to and so far it’s worked. The story is crazy, it’s so **** up and weird... it’s good! You do deliver a lot, that’s the point of the game but the story and character development and acting is second to none and who knew delivering could be so fun. You have to plan your routes, avoid the BT’s and take the long route or go straight through them risking your cargo but it’s shorter. Ride a trike straight through if you’re feeling like a daredevil or leave it behind and go on foot. Pack ladders and climbing rope or leave it behind and hope the countless of other players have left assistance along the way. Inventory management is a big thing in this game but it makes you think about what you’re taking and do you really need this equipment for this run? If you really can’t be bothered manually sorting your inventory out then you can just use the auto inventory manage button, but bare in mind this doesn’t take into account item fragility, the cargo you’re delivering could end up being squished under countless other cargo crates. Playing online makes this game even better, other porters (players) can build roads, bridges, watchtowers and whatnot which you can then use and upgrade. It gives you such a sense of achievement when you start a bridge or road and the next time you roll through that area the bridge is complete or the road stretches on into the distance. The sense of community really shines through. Read maps and tips/info carefully as you can end up getting pissed off if you don’t read something correctly and end up walking miles just to realise you left your cargo behind. This game is going to be a love it or hate it, but give it time and I think you’ll come to love it if you invest time into it. It’s brilliant, enthralling and you may just find yourself not being able to stop. 9/10!… Expand

    It's like an interactive completely original Sci fi epic. I don't play games often and have fou d games like RDR2 boring due to the constant travelling, but this game is great. The traversing is actually interesting, you have to be strategic.

Controls are tight and easy to get used to (very helpful that the prompts and tutorials will recur throughout on 'Normal' mode. Yes a lot of what you do in the beginning is repetitive, but it gets better, and the story is amazing in the way only Kojima can make it. Norman Reedus does a fine job as your stubborn but stalwart protagonist, and every other actor is phenomenal in their own role. Music is fittingly dystopic, graphics look great running on a ps4 pro on a 4k TV, and no loading screens from area to area. I never feel like I'm left "out in the Timefall" when I load up my gear and set off west.… Expand

    Brilliant game, worth every penny. Atmosphere, lore, story everything is perfect. Definitely not for point and shoot fans.

    The game has proven to not be for everyone and that some players are going to be divided but it still amazes me of how the game itself has so many layers and secrets and some catchy Easter eggs , I myself did enjoy the many times of walking alone in a vast beautiful world with an amazing soundtrack . El juego es increíble, el sistema online es único y hay que recalcar que este juego es muy diferente de lo que algunos piensan respecto a la jugabilidad, que se esperaban un shooter a lo Metal Gear, se dejo bien en claro que este juego tira para otro lado, este juego hace énfasis en lo duro que es su entorno, por lo que hay que ir mas pausado, y la música siendo muy buena, me hubiese gustado que sea mas variada; pero con lo demás es increíble… Expand

    Anyone wanting this game to be something that it isn’t will be thoroughly confused, dumbfounded and ultimately disappointed. Those who play it for what It is will already know they will be on a journey, sometimes slow but rife with wonder that will linger in their minds long after the final credits...

    This is such a beautiful and well thought out game. A lot of (simple-minded) people mistake this for a simple delivery game, but it is so much more intriguing than that. The two initial chapters truly separates those who game, and those who this game was intended for.

    I have never been more impressed with a game more than I have been with Death Stranding. The cinematics, the backstory of each character, the challenges of plotting your path and preparing, thinking quickly in battle, and above all else, coming together with your fellow players to work together and rebuild the world. IMO, this game shows me how we can come together to make a difference and really focuses on how we're can do that in addition to thinking strategically. I am in utter awe at the part that each player has played, and can't thank everyone enough for helping out despite its cost to you. It makes me have hope in us in a time where we are so divided. As I am nearing the end of the main storyline, I am grateful for all the emotions I have experienced in this game. It's so rare to be so completely on edge where you choose to take a break, cry when you find our why things are as they are, be so concerned for others, and relate so much to a character. It's great tho think and to make tough calls instead of aimlessly shooting each other for a change(although I love FPS).

    I hope everyone gives this game a chance instead of giving up on the training stages.    … Expand

    I'm on chapter 3 and so far, this game has been nothing short of a visual masterpiece. The pacing is slow but at the same time perfect. I've never played a game that quite literally puts me in the shoes of the protagonist, making me think about every step I take, plan my routes, arrange cargo, take note of my stamina and take into account enemies, my surroundings and the weather as I planI'm on chapter 3 and so far, this game has been nothing short of a visual masterpiece. The pacing is slow but at the same time perfect. I've never played a game that quite literally puts me in the shoes of the protagonist, making me think about every step I take, plan my routes, arrange cargo, take note of my stamina and take into account enemies, my surroundings and the weather as I plan to make the most efficient trip possible.

    Gave it a 9 out of 10 because I wish the enemies were a bit of a challenge. I find them very easy to beat. The vehicle mechanics are also pretty clunky and weird. Besides these hiccups, the gameplay, story and visuals are engrossing and captivating. An extremely immersive experience and just what I look for in video games. The world involves a lot of walking I will admit, but I feel like that's part of it. I feel like I am putting in the effort. The main character of course is the one doing the work but I feel like I'm on a journey with him.     People that think thi sgame was marketed as the next MGS are down right idiotic and childish, it wasn't marketed that way it isn't arketed that way and the game is marketed as you seen in trailers, gameplay reveals etc..

    Know for what I think of the game personally coming from that I never played a MGS game, I love the adventure espect of this game, for the first time I felt like being apart of the journey instead sprinting tghrouh open worlds not giving a single damn on what is around me and what situation I might come up on, the story was wierd and misterious but ultimatley gives you what you need to understand the game.

    If your looking at this game as a heavy shooter this game isint for you, if your going to try to speed tghrouh the game, go play fornite or call of duty, if you are attempting to critise the game and compare it to other kojima games dont waste no ones time this is a new and refreshing take on open worlds, the gaming industry and story driven games ingerenal.

    In summary I enjoyed my 62 hours of this world with some breath taking graphics and an ingrosing new universe that I can't wait to see and hear from more in the future how it will be developed.    … Expand

    Technically the game delivers what the industry can't deliver (evolution).
    The game has a plot worthy of an oscar, but for me kojima was unhappy in choosing an open world game if it had been linear and more objective, with the dead appearing more often to try to take the protagonist to another dimension (Something simpler as playdead's INSIDE) the game would surely be better.

    Long story short: it's an absolute masterpiece. Daring, different from everything else, this game is a blend of graphics, game play and direction that will stand out for a long time in the industry. I can't help but feel like I'm playing a next gen game.

    Pero al término de las mismas, el juego te atrapará. La interfaz es confusa, (Letras muy pequeñas) pero despues de unas misiones no importara. Lo importante para disfrutar del juego es planear adecuadamente la misiones. Te aconsejo llevar 2 sprays para reparar tu    Es cierto, el juego no esta hecho para todos.

    A lot of these people seem to have no idea what makes this game special. This game is less about the actual gameplay and more about the story and the way you impact it, I for myself found the game to be quite fun, yes it can get repetitive and it would definitely take a while for me to play through it a second time. Also I wouldn't be motivated to do the side quests because in the end,A lot of these people seem to have no idea what makes this game special. Also I wouldn't be motivated to do the side quests because in the end, yes, you are mostly delivering stuff, but walking around the world with BTs and MULEs at every corner, connecting with people all over the world as well as with the characters in the game is really a special experience and I would recommend everyone to try this game, it might not be for everyone, but there is deeper meaning behind everything in the game and the fact that Kojima and his team put so much thought and love into this game should be appreciated. It's definitely a GOTY candidate for me. If you can't handle a good story or unique gameplay and expected something that isn't down to earth and Kojima-style game then you haven't paid attention. It really starts getting more intense the more you get on with it and the once rather annoying game mechanics get eased a lot by a lot of gadgets you obtain during the story. If you take a look at these negative reviews, most of them seem to have no idea what this game is all about, don't listen to them, if you think this game looks intriguing try it out, I found the first few hours a bit slow but I got hooked right after and played 4-5 days straight until I got to the end. Think about what Kojima wanted to tell us with these parallels to our own fractured society and the metaphors within the game and you might find yourself enjoying the game as much as I did… Expand

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
