    The World and Story of Death Stranding is very interesting and lovely to explore. In short I'm gonna rate it :

    Well the gameplay is kinda leisure, and not so many actions. The fight with Mads Mikklesen is very enjoyable. Perhaps adding some weapons and battle mechanic like fighting with Allies ghost force jn WW1 could make it more interesting.     Its not your typical game where you feel instant gratification for just pushing the buttons in the right order. It can be boring, it can be tedious. But a mew type of videogame experience, and in my opinion, similar to watching an indi movie, or reading a good book. Hard to argue with the split reviews, you will either like it or you wont. And watching it is a good way to tell.

    The studio was formed 3 years ago. And in less time that many other fully formed studios, this company has put out a AAA title that has a way of playing not seen anywhere else. Ignore the Kojima cult, but also ignore the haters. Make up your own mind. I loved it. Hope you try it.    … Expand

    This game is not for everyone. Complaining about this game being repetitious doesn't make sense to me because technical all games are. If you're looking for intense action, go play COD/etc. You do walk a lot, but everything you do has a purpose. This is my first Kojima game and I can say that it's definitely an unique experience.     This game revolutionized gaming with the help of Monster Energy and the Ceo of UPS. My main gripes with the game is there was too many sections in the movie where you have to deliver mail.

    The game is fantastic. I played it on my friend's ps4 pro, so far awesome experience. Unique! I will buy it whet it will release on PC. But combat system could be better. But never mind still a great game!

    This game provides excellent gameplay, provided a slow burn, in the beginning, to set you in the mood. You have to start with this to understand what kind of setting to understand the game. After 2 hours(a short time) the game provides a myriad of mechanics and items to stretch yourself across the map. Death Stranding is one of the best games I have played ALL year of I hope you buy this game.

    I wanted to play death stranding since they announced it. The main issue with the game is that it’s just way too boring. I understand there are some deeper issues that kojima was going for but this game just isn’t fun. There are way too many cutscenes which make the game hard to pay attention to.

    The game -although definitely divisive- is fun in it's own unique ways. It's a fascinating slow-burn masterpiece that's keeping me hooked. After 12 straight hours of playing I took the liberty of writing a review. The only thing that bugs me is the clunky menus. I was pleasantly surprised after reading many of the horrid things others had to say about it.

    Kojima, please make real movies and stop trying to create videogame genres. This is Paperboy NES+Horror elements evolved, not a new genre at all.     It's a very different kind of videogame : But IT IS GOOD. Level design is incredible, graphics are one of the best i've seen on a regular ps4. Gameplay is weird but very fresh, stealth parts are great and happen more often than I thought so. Cutscenes and storywise, it's going to keep you hooked.

    This game is an absolute masterpiece! I´ve not seen such a creative storytelling in a long time. Yes the gameplay may be slow but that´s exactly the point. You are supposed to feel lonely and helpless sometimes so you actually can appreciate any sign of an other player. I can´t understand all the negative reviews at all.     It really sucks when everything in a game is great... except the gameplay. The other Playstaion 4 exclusives like Spider-Man have engaging missions which are integral to the storyline's progression (as it should be) and allow you to choose to do side missions, whereas Death Stranding's missions comprise of mostly and mainly tedious side missions which you are forced to grind through. If IIt really sucks when everything in a game is great... except the gameplay. The other Playstaion 4 exclusives like Spider-Man have engaging missions which are integral to the storyline's progression (as it should be) and allow you to choose to do side missions, whereas Death Stranding's missions comprise of mostly and mainly tedious side missions which you are forced to grind through. Our society has become so enthralled by war games and those who create them when something new and hoenstly innovative like DS comes out it often leaves the player feeling underwhelmed or unimpressed at a first glance. Yes, the game is very long and somewhat all over the place. However, it takes what many games tend to not do and place the players in a sort of space where they are truly on their own. Kojima stated himself he wanted the player to feel a type of aloneness while playing and climbing rocks and mountains all by your lonesome I say capture that type of affinity. He got what he was going for. The game is not bad, it is something that's new and that I say people aren't used to yet. "walking simulator" isn't exactly what I'd call it, but rather a game that gives the player a chance to instead of run and gun and have to attack everything or be some sort of super soldier, instead you're a simple carrier on a mission to connect the remaining strands of a post apocalyptic America. It's different, but most games that tend to go this route are and will literally either hit or miss with a target audience. If you went in expecting Metal Gear 2.0 then of course you'd feel cheated and kicked to the curb. It's not Metal Gear. This is something that with the combined efforts of a masterful team and a man using his own dream journal as inspiration, and created something both unique and somewhat a topic changer for how people play most games nowadays. It's a good game, and I think it deserves some credit for being able to bring new ideas like a carrier system and exploration of field versus simply only and always finding an enemy to attack. If people would focus that instead of the former, maybe they'd see it in the light Kojima meant for it to be presented. Again, it's not a war game. It is it's own genre all together. Love it, or hate it, it brought something new to the table and I appreciate what work they have done.… Expand

    Le pongo un 10 al juego para contrarrestar el hate.... por que ya veo que esta porqueria de metacritic no es capaz de hacer nada para solucionar este problema.... Para calificar un juego solo deberia hacerse con un codigo unico que venga en el juego que compras y tres dias despues te avisan que ya puedes calificar el juego . Asi tendrias suficiente tiempo para probarlo.     Yeah even a walking simulator can been a hell of fun(of course many will not agree). When you have to manage your cargo weight and their placement, choose the best possible route though the road is mostly full of obstacles and hazzards. Speaking of hazzards navigating through the rain that eventually destroys all your goods plus trying to avoid the nightmarish invisible BTs are muchYeah even a walking simulator can been a hell of fun(of course many will not agree). When you have to manage your cargo weight and their placement, choose the best possible route though the road is mostly full of obstacles and hazzards. Speaking of hazzards navigating through the rain that eventually destroys all your goods plus trying to avoid the nightmarish invisible BTs are much funnier than I thought. As a person who lives in a country that many of its people out of despration choose to put their life on the line and carry heavy cargos (like even refrigerators sometimes) on their backs walking through very dangerous boarder routs on just to be able make their ends meet I can relate to this game more than any other game I've played in recent years.

    The first trailer had me excited and after playing the game for about 6 hours I can't believe all I'm doing is fetch quests. More like an experiment with an interact movie. In better news, The Outer Worlds is actually better than it's trailers led on.

    I play games to have fun.. The delivery system type of game-play is just straight up exhausting, and doesn't compel me to want to do better and most importantly.. HAVE FUN OR HAVE A GOOD TIME.
    Despite Hideo Kojima's fantastic work on the MGS series, his idea are just too convoluted to make into a compelling and engaging game. He would be better off as just as a visual director for future titles.

    Great story (if a bit cheesy), interesting world building; but a good game Death stranding is not. Gameplay MUST come first in a video GAME, and the activities here are simply B O R I N G. I don't care how good your story is, how many star-studded actors you hired. If the game's not fun, WHY BOTHER?

Kojima's insistence of entering Hollywood has made him abandon all reason and the result is a bloated, self fellating "video" game and the polarization of fans of his.

    The titular Death Stranding is an event that has destroyed America and drove the people underground as they hide from creatures known as BTs (Beached Things) and a rain called Time Fall that accelerates aging. You play as Sam Porter Bridges, a lone wolf figure who is dragged into uniting a destroyed, divided America via linking the Chiral Network so that we can all be "connected". Kojima's stick and rope metaphors will be repeated ad nauseum over the course of this 40 hour sludge fest, be it in-game communication or the horribly written cutscenes. Kojima's vision for this game is a big open world with absolutely nothing in it, and your goal as the player is to deliver cargo, while doing what you can to get the Chiral Network up and running.

    Initially, you are forced to take things slow while you sneak past BTs and try to hike through treacherous terrain while carefully balancing your precious cargo and BB (Bridge Baby). As you get resources from doing deliveries, you can slowly upgrade your stats and gain access to new equipment that helps make traversal slightly easy. Rivers that you can't cross in the beginning might have bridges connecting them later on as online players chip in to create and maintain these structures, ladders can be put up to help you climb steep cliffs, roads can be made so that your vehicles can move quickly unimpeded by boulders or water bodies.

    Don't expect anything else from this game. There are no "hidden" gameplay mechanics that Kojima is keeping under wraps. What gameplay you saw in the trailers and previews is what you will get. During your deliveries, you might be attacked by MULES (other Porters like you only they've gone insane due to the dopamine highs of getting likes for deliveries... and no, I'm not joking) who will try to steal your cargo. Damage taken during combat or falls or while slipping can also damage your cargo causing you to lose not just missions but also valuable resources. Fortunately, this is mitigated by the fact that Death Stranding is an utterly easy game, even when played on Hard mode. Every so often during your deliveries, you might even come across BTs and if caught, you'll be dragged into a boss fight that is jokingly easy if you choose to face them head on, or made inconsequential by running away from the fight altogether. And thus, BTs who were supposed to instill a sense of fear in the players end up becoming like a road you can avoid taking. It doesn't help that other boss fights are nothing but jokes where the enemies take their own time in trying to deal damage to you while you fight them without any fear of a decent challenge once you have the weapons necessary to face them head on.

    If the story is what you came for, then please, let me save you time by saying that the story in this game is pure fluff and bogged down by glaring plot holes, God-awful writing that can turn even pivotal and poignant moments into cringe fests that will have you wince in pain wondering whether it's a dreadful English translation job or if it's exactly as intended by Kojima. You have one dimensional side characters with ever so idiotic names like Fragile or Deadman or Mama and it doesn't do the game any favour that the names themselves hint as to what their motivations are. It's disappointing because the game's excellent production values and technical fidelity is wasted on such a stupid premise and script. The game truly is beautiful and can at times feel cathartic as you trudge through precarious terrains while braving the elements. These are the moments when the game is at its best but these moments are not enough to uphold the game's systems. The game has a good score with a huge collection of licensed tracks so at least you won't be disappointed in the aural front.

    Fan theories of what the game is about is much more intriguing than the absurd mess that is delivered ultimately by Kojima. Death Stranding feels more like a vanity project of his than an industry changer. Kojima wanted to connect gamers by making us build "bridges" in Death Stranding, but if a 40+ hour long glorified walking simulator is the vehicle for building such bridges, then I'd rather burn such bridges and build walls instead.    … Expand

    There's no other game like it, both good and bad. Whether you'll like it has a lot to do with if you just enjoy doing things and challenging yourself to do it. Honestly I give it a 10 but can see why it's divisive. For me, though, it's the game I've wanted for a while.

What Death Stranding does, is give you a handful of enjoyable minigames to play while looking at the beautiful enviroments and listening to the ambience of it all. That's what works for me, I think in the coming years, games will start adding these minigames to traversal, instead of opting for 100% fast-travel. Fast-travel has it's merits, but sometimes it's good to let the player enjoy the scenery, even if it seems lengthy.
    i have not finished the game yet and i feel there is a lot more to discover in the upcoming hours, that i will play. I feel that the majority of people here giving 0's didn't even touch the game based on their reviews and seeing as some of their "claims" were proven wrong when i actually got to a certain part of the game, which showed that they didn't know what they were talking about.
    All in all, if you cannot spare 60 dollars for a game of this scale, wait for a sale, give it an honest try, ignoring all other opinions and for once, try to form your own. It is what i did and i have to say i'm not missing a single cent that i spent.
    Music is gorgeous, Graphics aswell, albeit i was hoping for 60 fps, the game being locked to 30 being a minus for me. The story, seemingly complicated to some, is told in chunks, not too complicated, easily to digest considering how long the game is.
    While some people maybe expected a military shooter ala Metal Gear Solid and what we're seeing is the dissapointment of not getting something you're expecting. For me the gameplay is above all else, "glorified fetch quest", "boring, repetitive" some may call it, don't listen to those people and try it for yourself, at the end of the day you might end up as me and find a new game to add to your favourites.     Such a satisfying and calming game. The cinematics are almost like a big budget Netflix production, very well executed. Great cast, beautiful graphics, fascinating concept and wow..... That soundtrack man. It's just heavenly. This game is unlike anything I have ever played. 10/10 for sure

    Absolutely terrible "game". I'm a die hard MGS fan but this is nothing like that. In my opinion this the worst game I have EVER played. Was not worth the $65 dollars I paid I feel like I was robbed and will be putting it up for sale tomorrow morning!

    This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
