    It's a great game. I am 33 years old and this game is perfect for me!
    It's a pity that the scenario suffers because of Hideo Kojima's inexperience in linking the key moments of the game plot.

Each step in the journey is rewarding. Inspiring, stunning, emotional. An experience which cannot be compared. A purely cinematic, thrilling, encouraging video game which should encourage goodness. A game we need so incredibly much in an era of miscommunication and disconnected people. This is not only a game for those who live within the pixels of the monitor, this is an experience to be counted as a lesson, to help us carry on with our lives with encouragement and faith.     This game was hard to warm up to at first. The first 3 episodes were boring and tedious. Episode 3 especially. It was also the longest episode that took about 10 hours to get through. It just wouldn't end! It began to grown on me after episode 3. The game starts to pick up and I gradually started to love it more and more as it became more diverse and engaging, it became addictive almost.This game was hard to warm up to at first. It's so weird how my opinion changed on the game just like that. The problem is first impressions are a big thing, which will turn a lot of people away. But if you stick with it, I think you'll find it was worth the effort and you'll be glad you played it. After completing the story I adore it. Think of it as like watching a TV show. It takes a few episodes until you really get invested in it. However, the many tedious and frustrating hours I got from this game is a major flaw, which is why this isn't a 9 or a 10. A persons time is valuable and many people simply won't have the patience to sit through this game to it's conclusion. Regardless, this was a great experience that I do not regret and I'm keen to return to it in the near future and finish rebuilding America. Especially the roads, that's my priority. Can't wait to see how it will look when I'm done.… Expand

    This game is not for any retarded fortnite/battleroyale or COD fanboys who just want to shoot and respawn endlessly in a game. This game is not perfect (8 or 9) but I am giving it 10 just because some idiots are review bombing it. The music, story and attention to detail makes it so immersive and really makes me feel as if I am really living the game's virtual world.

    Just as promised, this is a different kind of game. This is indeed a walking simulator and an interesting one if you actually play it yourself. You just can’t experience all the fun stuff by watching videos. Yes I think this game starts off boring with limited tools and confusing plot. But once you’re getting into it, you can’t stop.     Fascinating story. Very emotional and thought provoking. Engaging and immersive gameplay. Beautiful graphics and soudtrack. Great acting and interesting characters. Might be Kojima's greatest work yet.

    Very fascinating experience. I'm playing video-games for 30 years. But this is something special, I never experienced before. This game gives me so much emotions, new thoughts in my mind) I feel that this game is made with soul, Alot of easter-eggs) I even found a hologram with main character from Horizon. Very mixed gameplay, we have a crafting system, building, stealth, action, horror,Very fascinating experience. I'm playing video-games for 30 years.     I just wanted to try this game now look at me 6 hours im stock in this world. You need to learn gameplay mechanics to have fun either way you just suffering or it's not your type of game.

    The game was slow to begin with alot of cutscenes when I just wanted to get into gameplay but now I am really enjoying it and keep coming back to play, I got so excited when I unlocked vehicles lol but I didn't even mind the walking (it's not a walking simulator) I love all the micromanaging aspects of the game and the way Kojima has integrated the online is so cool the story is very interesting and keeping me involved. I'm not sure where everyone's getting this "obsessive advertisement" from have they even played the game? There is small amount of advertising when you visit your private room with 5 cans of monster energy on the table but they actually have a purpose you drink them for extra stamina and when Reedus takes a poop the doors advertise Norman Reedus rides on amc which I actually thought was funny didn't bother me at all people are making a big deal out of absolutely nothing.

    And one last thing and probably the most surprising and best I have been playing since day one and have not experienced one bug the world is massive but nope not one it's great to see such a well polished game released, normally if I buy day one it's riddled with bugs so I was so surprised, Kojima should be proud just of that he has done a very good job here and other developers should take note that you don't need to rush and release a buggy mess I think we appreciate it more if it's finished to perfection which this game is, I will be playing this game for a long time I absolutely love it.    … Expand

Or invisible ghosts? will you be crossing rivers? rappelling down cliffs? will there be snow? Once the planning phase over you set out on your journey, constantly making moment to moment decisions and adjustments, dealing with unplanned events as they happen. The game is absolutely gorgeous and runs extremely well, the world feels real whether you're in snowy mountains, ruined cities or toxic canyons. There's also stealth, combat, vehicles, and an interesting online community component where players contribute to build structures that help you navigate the harsh environment faster. And of course there is the crazy setting and story you've seen in the trailers. Playing leisurely It took me 65 hours to beat the game. The social strand concept is very good. Having a group of people congratulating you on such a well placed ladder is a perverted take on the Instagram generation and as I’ve said before, it’s absolutely beautiful to look at.     If you are more akin to instant gratification gameplay and no story then do not play this game.

And this game is insanely boring, there is nothing more than deliver packages from A to B all the time for hours, thats boring as f. Waste of $. It has nothing especial that you could say ok this is made by kojima, dont expect anything unusual.

    This is exactly what I needed. After you get past episode 2 the world becomes huge and there is so much to do and to help out with. Rated a 9 because I’m not a fan of the product placement or AMC ads.

    The core gameplay reminds me the most of time sinks like Minecraft or Stardew valley - sure it can feel repetitive but if you're in the right mood it can be addicting and even meditative. The    I was prepared to hate it - admittedly even gave it a negative review after the first few hours.
    After pushing on and nearly finishing it, though, I admit it was a pretty damn nice experience.

    The core gameplay reminds me the most of time sinks like Minecraft or Stardew valley - sure it can feel repetitive but if you're in the right mood it can be addicting and even meditative. The story is pretty cool too.

    The combat, however is straight up clunky and infuriating.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is awesome!!! It conveys a meaning, a message through its dialogs, story and gameplay. It's all about building connections and how difficult it is. The gameplay makes you feel how epic and difficult is the journey. It's not about killing/defeating the bad guys, it's a man vs nature game in a post apocaliptic world. The story is filled with details, you can't miss a dialog and you have to put a lot of attention to the meaning of each word, like for example the characters last names

    It's a shame some players bought it expecting another "Call of Duty like game".
    I agree with another comment that says you gotta have a minimum of 120 IQ to play this game.
    Kojima released a 49 minutes long video explaining every concept of the game, still people thought it would be another COD. Hilarious.

    At first I did not really understand what I was playing, but once I got in a bit, it started to click. The open world, story, music, and overall vibe this game has is something unique. You won’t find other games out there like this (at least not in 2019).

    With about 35 hours logged so far I can despite the simple concept of walking around a waste land a delivering packages, the actual gameplay is addictive and the finesse of balancing packages is difficult but keeps you invested during your long walks through the wasteland.

    Absolutely perfect. Constant rewarding gameplay with a story and characters that are the best you can get. Pretty much no load times and no menu lag. Was bug free for me. Excellent job.

Several hours in and no faults their. The gameplay is also a refreshing change to the same old same old that is being pumped out at the moment.     If you like the prospect of delivering cargo over and over again while navigating endless rocks and mountains, then this game is for you. One wonders why Sam puts himself through the punishment only to get some lifeless hologram to give him empty praise. A shallow and pretentious experience that can be skipped.

    Most people that downvoted this game is because they're just not used to these kind of games, and don't like to inmerse in a game that requires time to understand the story. People that downvoted are usually the ones that expected a fast paced online action shooter with a mediocre story easy to understand with no background or extra work to do to fully understand it.

    Its admirable that Kojima risked everything for this project and definetly this game is not what everyone expected, but its for sure something different. And i liked it.

    Philosophy, human nature, are some stuff that we rarely see in videogames, and EMPATHY is one of the best qualities you must have to understand the story and really enjoy it.    … Expand

    This is legitimately my favorite game of the year and potentially my favorite PS4 exclusive to date, The game boasts beautiful environments, an excellent score, innovative gameplay, and a truly engaging story.

    I understand some of the criticism and can se how this game is not for everyone, however, the plethora of zeros Death Stranding received on release day are inconceivable.

    I do truly love this game. It's like a community build game, where everyone contributes to make both their own world better at the same time everyone else. I do wonder what would happen if very few bought the game, because the power that runs the whole game lays in it's player base. This is a completely new experience and I highly recommend you to try the game before making assumptions

    Very dull gameplay, feels more like a interactive movie than anything else. Tedious gameplay elements made this a slog. Story is the only redeeming quality. But for a video game, it just isn’t fun, no other way to explain it.

    I want to start off my rating by saying that this game is not for everyone. Fortunately enough I am not “everyone”. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. I could not put the game down once I got past it’s sluggish start. Your enjoyment from this game is all going to stem from the expectations you have of it. If you set proper expectations I believe you will enjoy playing this game. StopI want to start off my rating by saying that this game is not for everyone. Fortunately enough I am not “everyone”. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. I could not put the game down once I got past it’s sluggish start. Your enjoyment from this game is all going to stem from the expectations you have of it. If you set proper expectations I believe you will enjoy playing this game. Stop looking at this game as a simple “fetch quest” game, or an action game because it is quite frankly neither. This game truly engulfs you into this incredibly beautiful yet apocalyptic world and it does not let you go. That being said, I’m not gonna lie, once I received the first quest of the game and it had me deliver one item from point a to point b, and then has you do it again, and again... and again I rolled my eyes and said, “oh, so this is THAT kind of game.” Aka a game I would usually hate. However, there is something to be said about the breathtaking landscapes that are in this game not to mention a well put together story. By the end of it all I went from dreading making a delivery from one place to the other to being actually bummed out that I had reached the end. I honestly did not want it to end. I felt like there was still so much of the world that I hadn’t seen, other paths to take for deliveries...etc. The strand system that kojima has implemented in this game (players working together collectively to build structures In the game) Is very well thought out. There were countless times by where a complete stranger building a structure previously in their game made my journey exponentially easier and you can’t help feeling compelled to build structures of your own and contribute resources to help other players complete their structures as well. It’s like everyone is working together to help make your journey that much easier. If you can make it past the first 3 episodes of the game, I believe you will thoroughly be pleasantly surprised at how much you will enjoy the journey to the very end. If you’re looking for a shooter/action/rpg type game though you should look elsewhere. Death stranding is unapologetically a game of its own and it does not care if you like it or not. At the end of the day if you play this game from start to finish I truly believe that you might not sit there and say, “wow, this is definitely game of the year!” Or, “Wow! This is the best game I have ever played.” But rather, “Wow! I am so happy that I got to experience this world, and what an incredible adventure.… Expand

    Probably the best game of generation. Tha game enginne is incredible. The game physics are pretty good, in special the fact that the gravity axis changes due the charge and the way the character carries them. The incredible soundtrack can change the entire game.

    Excelent videogame I'm enjoying it a lot. I like the gameplay, the story, the characters and mechanics of the game. I play it every everyday and imo it's one of the best Hideo Kojima games.

    I tried to give the game a chance but it wasn't worth the price, the graphics are really good hence the me giving it a 2 but everything else after that falls apart, the menu system is confusing and tedious and it is extremely repetitive, I know mojima is trying to produce something new but it just doesn't work, the obnoxious placement of the monster drink just ruins everything, it seemsI tried to give the game a chance but it wasn't worth the price, the graphics are really good hence the me giving it a 2 but everything else after that falls apart, the menu system is confusing and tedious and it is extremely repetitive, I know mojima is trying to produce something new but it just doesn't work, the obnoxious placement of the monster drink just ruins everything, it seems the game is more of a movie than a actual game.… Expand

It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
