    I am absolutely enthralled by this game. I am sick of the twitch shooter and battle royals genre and thos game is the antidote. Make sure you get chapter 3 before scoring this game. Super excited to see how the strand system works out.

    The game is unique, and the bombing review got me. The game is set by the minuses of those who have not played it. A rich atmosphere, an amazing plot, an excellent acting, excellent unique gameplay.

    It’s a amazing game, breathtaking visuals and the story got me on the first minutes in the game! It’s my first game from Kojima and I’m blown away for the originality the game got!
    The landscape evolution is so great during the game! I was not sure the game was for me because it’s not for everyone but I’m glad I play it.

    If you are a Red dead fan or any metal gear solid game this is the perfect game for you a calm walk mixed with intense moments it's hard to say in words but just go and play this game.

    Me parece un juego brillante, la forma en que se conectan miles de jugadores, los terrenos, el desafio de que el peso y las mochilas no te estropeen el camino , me resulta un desafio, sabiamos a lo que veniamos, no es un metal gear, ni un call of duty , (llevan meses diciendo de que va) yo sin duda lo recomiendo, es un A TO B pues si un poco , pero la historia esta genial, enemigos ,Me parece un juego brillante, la forma en que se conectan miles de jugadores, los terrenos, el desafio de que el peso y las mochilas no te estropeen el camino , me resulta un desafio, sabiamos a lo que veniamos, no es un metal gear, ni un call of duty , (llevan meses diciendo de que va) yo sin duda lo recomiendo, es un A TO B pues si un poco , pero la historia esta genial, enemigos , flipantes yo sin duda y sin jugar a algunos MGS ya que no soy un Fan boy, estoy encantado.

    Game runs very smoothly. Haven't had one bug or game crash. I enjoy the soundtrack very well done. The vibe and scenery is so eerie it fits the scifi vibe very well. The game system pics up very quickly after the first initial scenes. The acting is just spot on with all the key roles. I cant wait to finish.

    Awesome exceeded expectations
    Actually I don't like most inventory management and delivering quests in games but in these game it works. Because there is different tools and mechanics you need to keep track of to get from point A to B.
    All negative reviews are about MGS but this is a different game and best one from Kojima.

    I want to start off my rating by saying that this game is not for everyone. Fortunately enough I am not “everyone”. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. I could not put the game down once I got past it’s sluggish start. Your enjoyment from this game is all going to stem from the expectations you have of it. If you set proper expectations I believe you will enjoy playing this game. StopI want to start off my rating by saying that this game is not for everyone. Fortunately enough I am not “everyone”. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. I could not put the game down once I got past it’s sluggish start. Your enjoyment from this game is all going to stem from the expectations you have of it. If you set proper expectations I believe you will enjoy playing this game. Stop looking at this game as a simple “fetch quest” game, or an action game because it is quite frankly neither. This game truly engulfs you into this incredibly beautiful yet apocalyptic world and it does not let you go. That being said, I’m not gonna lie, once I received the first quest of the game and it had me deliver one item from point a to point b, and then has you do it again, and again... and again I rolled my eyes and said, “oh, so this is THAT kind of game.” Aka a game I would usually hate. However, there is something to be said about the breathtaking landscapes that are in this game not to mention a well put together story. By the end of it all I went from dreading making a delivery from one place to the other to being actually bummed out that I had reached the end. I honestly did not want it to end. I felt like there was still so much of the world that I hadn’t seen, other paths to take for deliveries...etc. The strand system that kojima has implemented in this game (players working together collectively to build structures In the game) Is very well thought out. There were countless times by where a complete stranger building a structure previously in their game made my journey exponentially easier and you can’t help feeling compelled to build structures of your own and contribute resources to help other players complete their structures as well. It’s like everyone is working together to help make your journey that much easier. If you can make it past the first 3 episodes of the game, I believe you will thoroughly be pleasantly surprised at how much you will enjoy the journey to the very end. If you’re looking for a shooter/action/rpg type game though you should look elsewhere. Death stranding is unapologetically a game of its own and it does not care if you like it or not. At the end of the day if you play this game from start to finish I truly believe that you might not sit there and say, “wow, this is definitely game of the year!” Or, “Wow! This is the best game I have ever played.” But rather, “Wow! I am so happy that I got to experience this world, and what an incredible adventure.… Expand

    This is legitimately my favorite game of the year and potentially my favorite PS4 exclusive to date, The game boasts beautiful environments, an excellent score, innovative gameplay, and a truly engaging story.

    I understand some of the criticism and can se how this game is not for everyone, however, the plethora of zeros Death Stranding received on release day are inconceivable.

    I do truly love this game. It's like a community build game, where everyone contributes to make both their own world better at the same time everyone else. I do wonder what would happen if very few bought the game, because the power that runs the whole game lays in it's player base. This is a completely new experience and I highly recommend you to try the game before making assumptions

    By far a game that is enjoyable and relaxing. It didnt oversell itself up until its release and it didnt under sell it either. This game just speaks Hideo Kojima and he has shown us how his creative ideas can be entertaining and amusing.

All I can say is … groundbreaking, pushing the envelope of what gaming is, its more atmospheric poetry, with layers and layers of metaphor and futurist vision, it wont appeal to traditional gamers who are still looking for standard game paradigms such as another fps looter shooter, but if your looking for something really different and inventive and cooky, it really is amazing, Its a far future dystopian vision where a dimension beyond our comprehension has invaded on our own reality, US society has broken down, where the difference between whats real and whats tech magic is heavily blurred, where humanity is surviving but not in a form that is comparable to current society, its the kind of game people are going to be debating the meaning of for years to come, and that kind of inventive futurism is worthy of investigation, the actual gameplay parts of the game revolve largely around being a foot based delivery guy in an america that feels like a permanent nuclear fallout rainy day in iceland where it has been invaded by malicious entities from another dimension that also have a reach in to the realm beyond life and the experience of human death,(im sure the delivery gameplay element to some will feel chore like, as a recalibration from the endless in your face high paced re-action), but the story and futurist vision weaved throughout is the real interest, theres so much packed in here of interest, I think this is Kojima's masterpiece, like this is the kind of game he was building up to. its gonna divide some traditional audiences I'm sure, but noone can seriously review this game as zero!?! they are literally being absurd yes its not an FPS its not MGS but get a grip, I think also there is allot of people who don't wait for user reviews before buying thinking he's going to make another MGS, then they freak out because he's made a different style of game and then leave a protest rating, 0 is not really applicable to any game? but over time I think this will be recognised as on of the most innovative game 2019 produced. La premisa es así de sencilla y fue motivo de burlas, pero es que es completamente adictivo. En cualquier sandbox, la premisa es ir de A a B y que en B se dispare alguna secuencia de acción, por ejemplo. Aquí es ir de A a B, pero lo importante ES ESE VIAJE de A a B. Hay quienes se quejan de las mecánicas de combate, diciendo que son demasiado poco complejas. Es cierto, pero es que el combate no es para nada importante. El componente revolucionario de este juego es, justamente, disfrutar de ese viaje, resolviendo los desafíos que el terreno nos propone. A su vez, hacer muchos pedidos nos da acceso a nuevo equipo que (a diferencia de otros juegos como RDR2) REALMENTE es útil en nuestra aventura. No es lo mismo tener un exoesqueleto que nos permite llevar más carga y movernos más rápido que no tenerlo; no es lo mismo disponer de lanzagranadas hemáticas para defenderse de las BTs, que tener que defenderse con granadas de mano comunes, etc. Mejorar el equipo que tenemos y descubrir nuevos artefactos es un claro incentivo a explorar más el mundo y realizar más y más encargos. A su vez, a medida que avanzamos, podemos modificar ese mundo post-apocalíptico construyendo estructuras y colocando carteles con avisos que se van a compartir con los demás jugadores de Death Stranding. Estamos solos, pero a la vez estamos acompañados por otros miles de jugadores embarcados en la misma aventura y cada paso que damos, cada escalera o puente, puede sernos de mucha utilidad a nosotros y a toda la comunidad.

    Por último, a nivel narrativo, es una joya. Las primeras dos horas y las últimas 4 están muy cargadas de cinemáticas, con mucha carga narrativa (típico Kojima), pero habiendo terminado el juego después de 65 hs, puedo dar fe de que abunda el gameplay y es, posiblemente, el juego con mejor relación gameplay/cinemáticas de Kojima.

    En fin, si lo que buscan es un juego lleno de explosiones, disparos y acción frenética, en Death Stranding no lo van a encontrar y no está mal que no se sientan atraidos por la premisa. Pero no se puede negar la originalidad del juego, sus valores de producción y el respeto hacia el usuario, presentando un juego triple AAA sin microtransacciones ni mutilaciones para se luego vendidas como DLC.

    It has an extraordinary gameplay, even if it is a walking simulator.
    Graphics is astonishing. I didn't play alone, so, when both me and my girlfriend saw the first minutes of the game (which actually wasn't a CGI, it was a video made with the Decima Engine) we were shocked. It looked like the real captured 4K video from the drones somewhere in Iceland but once again - it wasn't.
    The story is interesting enough? Huh, it is one of the best scripts and motion capture ever! But it's not balanced with the gameplay. You walk for a couple of hours, than you watch 10 minutes of videos. Then you walk again, wow, another 20 minutes of the movie. Walking, walking, walking, and... Wait, an hour of talking between two characters? Kojima, you kidding?
    Sometimes I was mad, for example in the end of the story (as far as I thought). So, the final credits. And a CGI. Then you can walk along the beach. Another credits. Monologue. Another one. Dialogue. Video for an hour. Gameplay. Credits. Video. Gameplay. A Hideo Kojima Game. You know, it is fine. But not when it is 3 in the morning and you have to wake up and go to the university at 7AM. And the final hours of Death Stranding transfer to the next evening.
    But after all. After all these bossfights which were won after 5 or less minutes. After this empty America which can be crossed form the West to the East for less than an hour (try to cross it for the same time or faster, I'll wait). After all these "Sam", "Reconnect the America", "Make us whole again" and other things... I did love it. And cried in the end. It made me to think about something. And because of these emotions I love Kojima and his games.
    Thank you for this masterpiece. I'll be waiting you somewhere here, in Russia, once again when you''ll come with another one game which will blow my mind.    … Expand

    The game is really good despite the delivering, that gets boring, when you play it in its totality.
    But after finishing the game, I get why the progression had to be this way.
    It's not for everyone, for sure but doesn't deserve anything below a score of 7 or even 8 with no doubt.
    If you liked the No Man's Sky system you'll like this game.

If you want CoD reskined with a story this is not for you. Understand this is a slow game. Think of it as an onion that you must peel the layers back by hand one by one, and at the center of it all is the most delicious piece of candy you have ever had. Excellent job!     This game is brilliant in terms of story, gameplay and the online connection it brings forward. The gameplay loop is something i was really afraid of not liking when i saw the first gameplay trailer, but i ended up enjoying it intensely. It's one of the weirdest games for me to explain, when it comes to why i enjoy t so much. On paper it sounds extremely boring, but i'm completely hooked. It's so addictive to connect "America" into UCA, and it's such a joy when the cutscenes begin. I've seen alot of people talk about the need to skip minute cutscenes, such as when you go into the rec room where you sleep, shower and look at gear. It's here i have this weird feeling of letting them run, because of my long travels shipping a lot of packages to people in need. Those cutscenes are reused alot, but weirdly fitting, as the gameplay loop is the same. Gear is introduced piece meal, which makes it incredibly rewarding when you get something that eases the delivery.

    It's one of those wierd games that i honestly thought i was gonna hate, but the final product knocked me out and honestly resonates much more than i thought it to be.    … Expand

    A very unique title, i found it engrossing from start to finish, my connection to my BB and other porters. This game is unlike any other before it. Do buy it if you are even thinking about it. Great music, interesting cast and great cutscenes. Combat felt very tense, I very much enjoyed this title from Kojima and I cannot wait to see what he has in store next.

    I really don’t understand all the hate on this game. I spent 50+ hours playing it and never got bored. Unreal story, unreal performances and the world design is amazing. Easily one of my top 5 games of all time

    I had a really good time with it, with the story and unlocking all the trophies, but i can understand why many people don't like this game. It's boring at times but if you connect with it becomes a really special experience. Nice game.

    Before you form an opinion on Death Stranding, play it for more than 2 hours. It's long as hell and demands your time, but is definitely worth it. At hour 25 it really picked up steam. But at hour 45, it blew my expectations the **** out of the water

Now that I bought and that I'm actually playing the game I have to say that I'm very pleased with everything it threw at me up until now. Sure, the story is a mess at first but eventually everything will make sense, I'm pretty positive about that.

    As for the gameplay loop, it is indeed not for everyone. If you like fast paced, heavy action games in which you can unleash your inner ADHD kid, then Death Stranding is not for you. However, if you like slow paced games in which you immerse yourself and soak in the environment in combination with a very intriguing story, then this game is very well made for you! I absolutely adore the gameplay loop and something about it is strangely addicting. Also, one of the highlights of the game are the BTs. Wandering through BT territory can be very tense and gives a nice change of pace!

    Now, the reason because I don't give it a perfect score is obviously because it is NOT perfect. Sometimes, the traversal can be a bit clunky. Also, even though the story is very intriguing, I have a feeling that some elements of it are confusing just for the sake of being confusing. The thing that I hate the most though is the UI. It is incredibly un-intuitive and completely frustrating at times.    … Expand

BUT if you're like me and dare to "waste" 10-20 hours of your life to play this game, you'll find that this game is really addicting and challengingly fun to play (for me at least until midway of episode 3 which is where things get really interesting, considering this is the part where you acquire some cool new techs, weapons and vehicles).

    "There's no way walking through the map, delivering cargo with minimum combat actions can get interesting".
    This is also what i said to myself before I arrived to that point of the game I mentioned above, and boy I was wrong. This game has its portion of action if you want it, e.g fight MULEs and BTs with your cool weapons in open combat or stealthily knock them out (or eliminate them, if you fight BTs) and cool mini-boss fight that rewards you with resource to fabricate new equipments or build new infrastructures (highway, generator, shelter, zipline, etc) to make your journey more exciting.

    The last thing that I want to point out is, if you decide to give this game a chance, please play it online. This is where Death Stranding is all about. To connect with players around the world to help each other and progress forward.    … Expand

    GIVE IT TIME! The game unveils its mechanics very gradually, changing its gameplay style in very unique ways. Those who give low scores simply did not play it enough to see all it has to offer. It's not a common Gears or Cod, when after 1 hour you can see everything the game has to offer in terms of gameplay.

    Story, graphics, sound and all the rest can't even be commented: simply over the top.

    A work of art. People who are giving 0 as a score just played the wrong game. Extremely beautiful and exciting universe created by Kojima once again. Gameplay is innovative and keeps you immmersed on the game. Play it if you have the time to spare. If you just want to turn on the console and shot some people dont go for it.

    This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
