    The 10s and 9s on here are totally bizarre, especially how many are at the top of the page. I think some superfans must be upvoting the positives and downvoting the negatives.

    I'm glad some people love the game, but it's basically The Last of Us with worse dialogue, voice acting, story, and gameplay.     I'm glad some people love the game, but it's basically The Last of Us with worse dialogue, voice acting, story, and gameplay. That doesn't make it a bad game, but it is highly derivative of many other, better games you've already played.

    You might enjoy the first few hours, but then you realize you've already seen most of what the game has to offer. The zombies quickly become insignificant pieces of scenery on your repetitive bike rides back and forth to kill some guy or fetch some whatever. Where's the fear, the tension, the surprises or scares? The hordes are interesting at first, but once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

    The game does deserve some points for the well-designed atmosphere, and really capturing what an open-road motorcycle ride would feel like in the zombie apocalypse. But that's about all the credit I can give it.

    Not a bad game, but not a particularly good one either. If you've already played TLOU, TLOU 2, RE 2 Remake, RE 7, Dying Light, The Evil Within, and you still need zombies... then I guess you can pick this up.    … Expand

    Fantastic game. I am starting to think I played a different game than the critics did. Solid mechanics, decent story and acting but the way they’ve designed the world and the upgrade system is just superb.

    Probably one of my favourite games ever.

    I like open world games. Before i play days gone, my favourite is dark soul’s series.Still it:) But i had a problem about that because i cant like And live in any game after i met ds series. This game is fantastic! I can feel the living world. And i feel free to go everywhere and do something which i want. Submissions are funny and exiting,too. I think this game is underrated.     It's like a cross between Resident Evil with an open world and Walking Dead TV series.

    Not one of the best, but still a pretty good game. Good history, good gameplay, good graphics, the night sky is absolutely phenomenal, one of the best soundtracks ever! After 2 years playing this, my only problem is the insane amount of bug's. If I had to compare this game to another, I compare to the first Red Dead Redemption, excellent game, lot of bug's.

    - average writing
    - average shooting
    - boring investigation/follow footsteps mechanic
    - tedious crafting
    - abysmal bike driving model with unresponsive controls for a game that relies so heavy on it
    - cool zombie hordes
    - violent (if you're into that stuff)

    A game that excells at nothing and it's just plain average overall. Play it if you run out of good games.

    A very solid game. The main characters are done well and have interesting things to say. The landscape is beautiful and the hordes are deadly. I highly recommend this game, especially on PS5 how I was able to play. 4k @ 60fps.

    I waited almost a year to play this game because of the poor reviews it received. I can honestly say that I'm so glad I decided to pick it up finally and complete the journey. The graphics are amazing. The story is heart-wrenching. The game-play is fun and always keeps me wanting to come back for more.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I ended up buying this game after I watched a few videos showing how much it improved. Overall it's a great game. If I was to imagine what a post apocalyptical open world infected zombie game would be, it would be pretty close to this. The game does a great job immersing the player into the world. It's fun to drive around on my hog and see what's going on. A lot of the characters are spot on representations. From people who have been waiting all their lives for some end of the world stuff to happen. To others doing their best to protect the people. Everything this game does, it does it well. Shooting, hand to hand combat, driving and exploring feel good.

    That isn't to say there isn't some issues. I find the game has some inconsistences in it's story telling and characters. People do and say things that make little sense or contradict earlier things they said. For instance, earlier in the story I was sent on a job to get something and the guy who sent me out wasn't worried about causing trouble with a certain group of people. Later in the story he tells me I don't want to anger the leader of those same very people earlier he didn't care if I killed. Then 2 seconds later he says we need to take care of the group of people he just said not to mess with. It absolutely makes no sense. Or how about Saint John being a complete jerk to people in the camps, yet needing their help and or working with them. It makes no sense to create ill will with people you're constantly working with.

    There's other another issues that irk me. Anytime you go into a camp and walk by the mechanic or anyone else in a camp, they comment on you being there. If you happen to walk by them a few seconds later, they comment like they haven't seen you in days. You can do this over and over again. At one point I had a mission to check in on a friend. I drove all the way over there to ask him something for him to reply completely incorrectly to what I was asking and that was the whole mission. It's little things like this that don't seem right in a game that gets so much right. Then there's rescuing screaming survivors who are always the same few character models. Why would anybody scream in your face while rescuing them in a zombie apocalypses? Again, it makes no sense.

    Another thing that bothers me is how the game tries very hard to say who would survive the zombie apocalypse and who wouldn't. Only the gangsters, drug addicts, bikers and ex cons would survive. The game even says accountants wouldn't make it out in this world, says who? They try to make this clear delineation of who's capable of surviving and it makes no sense. Survival skills are not base on being a bad$ss on the streets before everything went down.

    But besides these few issues, the game itself is a ton of fun and I would totally recommend.    … Expand

    The game made me hate the freakers, and planting an spiked baseball bat in the body or head made me feel good every time. And offcourse, I will never forget the moment I saw a horde....and then they saw me and came after me. I was running towards my bike, jumped on it, started the thing and drove away just before the first freaker of the horde grabbed me. Then from a distance I stopped my bike to have another view of this terrifiying phenomonen.

    What for me is a good game, is a game I cant put away, that I want to play every minute of the day. Since long time, I had this with this game. Even when I finished the main story, i found myself still playing and wanting more. More hordes to kill, more freakers to smash en more Rippers to burn.

    So if you have the chanche to play it, i truly recommend you give it a try.    … Expand

    Nice game, i just played at this long quarentine i enjoyed this game so much, i love Boozer character so much, He was my favorite.
    the game have a little bugs, but it doesnot bother me at all.

    Bom jogo. É uma ótima experiência de gameplay e a história é bem legal. O problema são as missões secundárias que ao longo do jogo vão se tornando repetitivas. Os gráficos são ótimos e o mundo aberto é muito bom.

    excellent game. I am playing in 2021 on Playstation 5 and, perhaps for countless fixes and hardware much better than the PS4 the game runs very well, immersive world and very good facial animations.
    I liked it more than the last of us 2.

    Extremely derivative of several other games. Specifically, it felt an awful lot like Mad Max in the Pacific Northwest. There is a main, story quest, but much of the story is introduced through flashbacks that you have to watch, but no participate in. The map consists of a number of "regions," each with a set number of "Get rid of 'x'" or "Find 'y'" quests to help you level or gain trust at various camps to provide discounts at shops and upgrades. These are literally the same quest/activity over and over. It all felt very mechanical to me, and never felt invested in my character. Night day do not feel inherently different. So many aspects that felt all a bit incomplete and half-baked. But, it is fun to play and run around and shoot monsters and take out enemy camps.

    Update December 2020. On PS5, this game is a solid 8. Finished main story and ready to replay as it looks and feels like a different game. Same drawbacks with overall game but PS5 takes it up another level.    … Expand

    One of the most frustrating tripleA games I’ve ever played. Poor mission design, bad controls, and lack of interesting loot in exploration exacerbate how this mediocre story drags on. There is obvious potential in it, and if any of the above were decent this game could have been fun

    - the gunplay is simply fantastic
    - the bond between certain characters are so adorable, I couldn't help but smile when they interact with each other

    The bad:
    - the melee mechanic is a bit outdated, especially when you and your enemy are attacking at the same time, your character would just "wait" and take that damage, in the meantime, you can't control Deacon until his animation is finished

    Un gioco che ha saputo intrattenermi, emozionarmi e divertirmi... È assurdo quanto io fossi indeciso sul prenderlo a causa dello **** che girò attorno al titolo alla sua uscita. È vero il gioco a alcuni problemi di entità minore e facilmente risolvibili o aggirabili, ma vanno assolutamente in secondo luogo.

    Se avete occasione giocatelo. Non ve ne pentirete.

FO4 is extremely open, loses its story after about 5 minutes and ends laughably bad. TLOF is pretty much the other end of the spectrum. This game sits in between. So what does that mean? The world to explore is big enough with enough to do. The graphics are good but framerate suffers sometimes. Traveling and fighting are fun and most missions have enough purpose. Plain and simple, the game is fun to play. There are some really likeable characters and a story that's well told and sometimes even emotional. That is, until you come to THAT part of the game...

    Post apocalypse games rarely deal well with their endings and unfortunately this one doesn't either. Seriously, this game is great fun and worth playing. The only downside is the terrible ending. You can still enjoy it and it's fine to stop playing this game at some point without ending it.    … Expand

    Tedious and boring. Spent 10 hours into this game, and basically the same routine. Kill infected and collect some meager resources. The map is often misleading and spent ages running around trying to find a location. Infected respawning makes it tedious traversing from location to location.

    I Always wanted to buy this game but it was never on my top list. Now it is, awesome ambience, soundtrack is just breathtaking, characters and history is amazing, the game has a sons of anarchy vibe, with a amazing open world, driving your bike around its just só freeing. Love it

    2021 Review on PS5. Amazing game. Runs great at 60 fps and dynamic 4k. Amazing story and voice acting. Engaging gameplay loop and combat. I don’t understand the 71 metacritic score! Was it that much worst on ps4???

    Really good game, recommended it. The story is very easy to love and the open world is amazing. The AI's in the game are good. Especially when the hordes are chasing you, I at times got goosebumps.

I find that Most games I try to “accomplish;” few I truly    Spectacular. Liberating. Engrossing. (PS5)

    I went from having low expectations, to Days Gone becoming my favorite game of all time within 10 or so hours of play (Notwithstanding the PS5 misleadingly reporting the game fully installed when it wasn’t, leading to me almost abandoning the game when I reached the first outpost).

    I find that Most games I try to “accomplish;” few I truly want to actually play. AC Valhalla was spectacular in it’s own right, but I found at a point I just wanted to “finish” it. However, Days Gone is the first game since skyrim that I have gone back and explored every corner of the game, while enjoying each moment and detail.

    This was a game where I felt saddened by the impending “end” of the campaign. Once I cleared the main storyline, a number of fun, challenging hordes and satisfying quests remained.

    The production values are on par with an open-world uncharted game, but rather than feeling daunting, the world welcomes you with numerous adventures, all of which have weight. Your actions feel impactful and Even meaningless side quests feel important, while the voice acting is perfect.

    10/10 game. I skipped the PS4 release and recently played it on PS5. Game is absolutely stunning and better than that the story is really gripping. I felt everything’s well balanced in this game only it is being a tad on the more time consuming side to finish.

    I feel reviewers didn't enjoy the game because this game, similar to red dead, ask you to slow down.. Stop, think about your next steps. Rather than a quick checkbox system you can fast travel to and complete ubisoft style like a zombie (no pun intended because they are freakers).. If you liked red dead and the slowness of it, you will like this. Fueling the bike can be a shore at first but it has also brought me one of the most exciting dynamic unscripted events in a game.. in an instance I was traveling and I ran out of petrol near a overrun town and had to sneak through buildings and freakers just to find a petrol canister, I was weak and knew I couldn't face that many freakers head on, so the fear of being spotted while looking for petrol gave me an unexpected thrill I haven't yet had in any other video game that wasn't intentionally scripted.. Alot of walking dead vibes.. I won't even talk about the weather system.. It is the best by a long margin in a video game.. The way snow gathers on the floor after a clear sunny day..     Great game, decent story, loads to do, great graphics, excellent bike (especially when upgraded)...what more could you ask? Its like being in TWD! That said, on 'normal' mode, gameplay is either too easy (most of the time) or (when fighting a horde) too tough....needs more consistency and more of a strategic element. Also, it still has glitches which need patching.

    Amazing game! If you were disappointed by the horrible thing they did with the Last of Us II, then I strongly recommend this game.

    Characters are a big problem in this game for me, the main ones start off as uninteresting, and are completely rude asses to everyone, but they get better much later in the game (same with the new side characters), however since that also took too long to happen, it makes the first half of the game feel almost like torture, I kept pushing through though because I read that it gets better, and it did, just not enough.

    The combat is the best part of the game for me, it is very fun most of the time, but it gets repetitive near the end, with what is essentially the same missions, repeating again, and again, to what feels like no end, and honestly weapon upgrades should be more easily achievable since missions get too repetitive, a quarter of them should've been cut, or made different.

    This game suffers from a few bad mechanics as well, and has plenty of bugs. There are numerous tracking missions that lead you to a location, but from there you're left wandering around with inaccurate controller vibrations meant to lead you to the next clue, but it doesn't work most of the time so it sucks, and there are bugs where:
    - enemies phase through the earth
    - had plenty of times where characters had stop their lines in the middle of a sentence, had to enter menu then back to get them to continue
    - a radio call bug where call stops at crash and continues muffled while off bike then finishes when you get on, missing what was said
    - enemies freezing in place
    - game freeze on loading screens
    - character not entering bike with button hold, unless in perfect place next to it

    Also, having to find fuel cans is hell, half the skills are useless, or make very minimal difference, requiring you to grind levels and side quests for way to long to get the good skills, a skill to mark fuel cans on map would have been more useful than many of them, and plants are way too sparse until after camp three, when the density of plants of items gets just right.

    The next entry, if there is one, should focus more on bug fixes, and QoL improvements like option to auto-refuel, fix bike and auto-refill guns at slightly greater cost when entering camps, greater stamina regen when standing still, skills with more impact, gear, fun items, and enabling more customization, thus more motivation to complete the missions, and having more fun while doing so.    … Expand

I haven´t encountered almost any bugs, sometimes the framerate drops but isn´t annoying at all. The story it´s so slow in the beginning, but after you ride south with boozer, it is amazing. Great gameplay from gunfights to riding your motorcycle from location to location which is even fun. Story is top notch and keeps you interested in where it goes. Characters are extremely well thought out with emotional undertones done extremely well. Upgrade and crafting system is simple and easy to understand. Graphically game is stunning with character faces even relaying subtle emotional ques that I’ve yet to see in other games and open world looks stunning.     This game is such diamond. If you enjoyed Far Cry series, this openworld masterpiece will drag you in. Brillian story, great gameplay, good music, graphics.. Killing 200 horde of zombies, noice. Do not play on easy, go with hard. If you can, play on PS5 with 60fps. Ps4 is fun, but graphics and FPS are not good

    Very underrated game. I really enjoyed the story. I'm not a huge fan of driving in game but I actually enjoyed the driving the bike in this game. Even the bike upgrades, performance and visual are pretty cool.

    the history , mmm , isn't that interesting or complicated , but its good if you are a beginner in vídeo games or if you just want to sit play something that don require so much brain .

    the ambient is good , sometimes you'll have to search some of the hives of the zombies but nothing that doesn't appears in the map , same with some Nero places

    The other mode like survival or horde are pretty fun to play , but it doesn't make the game better or can make you play more .

    One thing that i think that maybe can make you play more , are adding more side-quests for the camps or adding more eccentric characters to make it more entertainment , maybe with a actualisation or a free DLC .

Visually and accustically it's very good, sometimes stunning. Technically it seems the problems have been ironed out, just some minor stuttering in the later areas after long playing sessions.
    It's gameplay is very engaging, and it does well in spreading out it's upgrades until the end.

    On the downside, the main character is edgy, not always likeable and does take a while to adjust to. Quite a few things are repetitive like the lines when picking up items and how side missions are setup ... every time you need to clear a ambush camp or a nero controlpoint you have to follow the same procedure and it's inside areas a very similar. Ressource scarceness is a fundamental part of the game, which does keep tension and the non stopping hunting for materials up, but sometimes it get's annoying. The story background / world setting is kind of a new zombie theme variation and is interesting, but some background story developments seem very unplausible, like only having a few camps full of good people, and everyone else beeing out to kill you ... and once again a game without children and families.

    Overal it's a strong, but slow and lengthy experience with some very moving emotional story highlights and exceedingly fun elements like machine gunning down hundreds of zombies. This game has some major future franchise potential.    … Expand

Man I agree more with the critics than the user reviews. This is at best a 6. It literally brings nothing new to the table and doesn't even do an unoriginal formula well.     Bend Studio made a great game with a rich, believable and captivating story. They’ve also resisted the lure of trends: there’s no multiplayer, no lootboxes, no “game as a service” plans – just a very solid (and finite) singleplayer experience. That makes it a rare gem these days, maybe one of the last of its kind. [Issue#238, p.42]

    At the beginning of the game you’ll feel like you've already played this game... then it will let you go for a while only to return with reinforcements (and lots of bugs). However, Days Gone has a couple of pleasant moments, that can't be denied. [Issue#295]

    I expect and hope for a sequel. Just know that going into this game that there is a lot of tedious nonsense to pad out a really good game to make it feel more worth every dollar, much to its detriment. I want to give this game a better score because the best moments are so good, but the large portion of this game is so bloody tiring that I just can’t.
