Easily the WORST game i've played in ten years. It is wrong on so many levels.

It's supposed to be hard, but it is actually unplayable. It is not even close of an Alpha build.

Don't waste your time and money on this. You're welcome.

First: choice story difficulty. Because balance is for souls masters. Camera is bad in combat. Story is simply. Game is sometimes good and sometimes bad. But it is still old good darksiders.

And I say this because I fullied Bloodborne and lots of the Dark Souls franchise and the comparison lacks a lot.

The story itself is lackluster without depths and I cannot say that I like the puzzles much. They seem to take out the pace of the game without bringing benefits to the player.

The semi open world design brings joy to me. I dont like the senseless wide open world games that are popular at the moment and Darksiders 3 is able to deliver a nice mix of world like atmosphere and guiding linear gameplay.

The difficulty is very irritating to me. On balanced a normal minion can kill you in 2-3 slashes which seems quite unforgiving and souls-like, then why bother with difficulties in the first place? Kinda left me frustrated with my own decision and expectation which the game induced into me.

Flaws, are apparent. When I stand right before cliff for minutes and I know I should be able to reach but it doesnt, there are two valid explanations, at least on PS4: frame dips on combos in certain areas or game design which you cannot anticipate. Both ends are bad and not enjoyable for me.

After all the game makes me really sad. I wanted to contribute to the game but it feels like a bad decision. Day zero patches that kills of HDR is something that shouldnt happen. Fast paced fighting with 20-25fps cannot happen because it denies every worthwhile experience the game is trying to create. Difficulty expectations should match. If its supposed to be Souls, dont bring settings beforehand.

After all the game cannot be rated higher then 6-7 because it compares itself to titles such as God of War or Dark Souls, which both highly exceed in technical aspects, polish and world depths. I still think you can have fun with this game but wait for patches and at least a 30% sale.

The camera is awful, and it become the worst possible thing ever in the game when you are crammed into small rooms or corridors. The story...generic at best, Fury is the weakest of the 3 as far as i'm concerned (even Death was redeemable in the end), the lack of the horse is laughable and you don't really feel as one of the Horseman. Bossfights are good, not the best, not the worst, but some of them are very "colorless" and dull. The pacing of the game can go from terrible to mediocre, depending on how much fun you can get from platform and normal enemy encounters. And you loose souls upon death , because that's a thing apparently now for action games. Exploration, another big parto of the game, is souless and trivial, no interesting semi-open map section with little to no interesting sideways or else. Expand

I have been a Darksiders fan since the first game, and I was impressed by the aesthetics of the characters and the environment of the first two games. I also found it quite interesting mixing the puzzle solve of TLOZ series and the combat of games like good of war or devil may cry.

I can say that the third installment of the series is an interesting change of direction. Making the beautiful world they have created, into a giant puzzle to figure out "where to go" or " what actions to take in this stage", and changing the combat style from hack 'n' slash to a dark souls like combat style. It is obvious to see that Darksiders 3 is a game that the producers at gunfire games are trying to make a game that they feel is good, and I will give them credit for it.

The character design in the game has also been an amazing as ever. Each character feels very unique as the design shows many of their different aspects of the characters personality, such as Avarice(greed), a goblin like boss, who carries a giant sack of treasure on his back, or wrath, a giant fiery warrior cladded in silver armor.

The environment is also amazing. Whether you are travelling the ruined cities of Earth or in the dark depths of the hallow, each environment feels distinct and gives off this idea of what it would have looked like before the seals were broken. Whenever I have the moment, would just take in the look at the environment of the level I am working in. The levels are also filled with secrets to look for, which contain items that can be used to either level up fury or upgrade her arsenal.

I do want to say that I have no problems with this game, however, due to the amount of bugs, load screens, awkward camera angles and frame-rate drops that constantly plague the game as you go through it, it makes it difficult to continue the game in one sitting. It is understandable that gunfire is working with a low budget and not as many developers as any other triple-A title would have, but I believe the first two games had the same situation and did not find as many bugs or glitches compared to the third installment.

Darksiders 3 is definitely a game to own if you are a fan of the eternal battle between the armies of heaven and hell. However due to the amount of bugs that you will encounter, will make it hard for you to grind through.hopefully gunfire will be able to fix a majority of these through future updates. Although, If you want to buy the game, the PC version seems to be the one that is running the best.

Overall it's a bad game. The game crashes a lot, the gameplay is heavy due to the lags. My game has hung up alone 3 times. The graphics are simple, and the soundtrack is bad and unorganized. The only interesting thing about the game is the characters. I really liked the Fury.

Well, as much as I love the story, I have to admit that this entry into the series wasn't really my favorite. I am not really fond of playing as Fury, but that isn't the problem because I like the concept of playing as every horseman. The graphics feel like it's on ps3, not ps4 and the controls feel a bit sluggish. Still a must if you're a fan of the series

It is truly a shame, because if this was PC I might have found a way to fix it, but on ps4 I’m at the mercy of the developers, but with this latest entry I might be persuaded not to buy any other games from them if this is the level of quality I’m gonna get. Good thing I didn’t pay for this game though (got it on ps plus as one of my two free games one month) if I did, the score would be lower, since this is unacceptable in a console game. Expand

And there are the checkpoints and the loading screens. Every time you die on a boss, you get a loading screen that lasts up to a minute. Then you need to run to boss, that's another minute. And while you're running, you get ANOTHER loading screen or two, because the game has trouble of rendering the world. I also had to redo a boss that I already beat, just because the game didn't save before closing it, even if I was in front of the bloody checkpoint.

All in all, I'd like to see more Darksiders, but not like this. Boss fights were entertaining, but the technical issues are so many the overall experience is really disappointing.

The original release had Dark Souls inspired combat based on perfectly timed counter attackes. You have to wait for an attack and then dodge during a small window to do high damage. Some enemies will block all other attacks, making counter attack essential to play the game. The problems are 1) the lack of notifaction of an attack, 2) not all attacks can be dodged, and 3) combat slows down to a crawl and is not fun. The update lets the player character, Fury, dodge attacks easier and generally strike faster. The counter attacks are still an important part of the game, but if you want to dodge and attack like in Darksiders 1 and 2, you are free to do so. Note to developers, stop Dark Soulsifying your games.

While combat has always been interesting in Darksiders, the real gem was the look and feel of the series. You see it in Darksiders III on a smaller scale. There are graphical issues Fury's hair, for example, looks as stiff as anything you might see in a PlayStation 2 game. Fury is also not nearly as stylized as her brothers War and Death and her design is as generic as anything you would see in the 1990s. You can also forget about realistic lighting and shadows. At least in a Darksiders first, I only fell out of the map once, making this the least glitchy Darksiders ever.

My issue with the design in Darksider 3 is mainly the small scale of the game. Most of the areas are re-used reused subways or ramshackle wooden platforms. The horseman's steed is gone because none of the areas are large enough to traverse on horseback. I feel like the developers only had the resources to make a large world like Darksiders 1 and 2 or a detailed world that would look better on current gen hardware. I don't blame them for choosing the latter, though I would have been dissapointed if I had spent $60 on the game. The enemies, especially the bosses, are as imaginative and resplendent as ever. The underwater areas are a major upgrade from Darksiders 2. You can sometimes see glimpses of something amazing, before you go back to the cookie-cutter tunnels. Not helping is the simplicity of the story, which is just hunting down and defeating the seven deadly sins.

The upside is that the smaller game world means less of a grind. Upgrade material constantly drops and I never felt like I had to kill old enemies to level up in order to take on new enemies. The problem is that most of the upgrades require an NPC that has to be found on the map or accessed via loading screens. To solve the first problem, Vulgrim the vendor demon is found almost everywhere, after every third hallway or so. Still, having to bring gameplay to a dead halt every few fights is not fun. The loading screens to interact with the armorer are even less fun. You can also forget about witty banter with blacksmiths like in God of War. Upgrading weapons in Darksiders 3 is simple busy work. I would love for a developer to eschew the upgrade system and have a character go from start to finish with the default gear like Master Chief in the Halo games.

Now for the unpopular opinion. I am glad the game is short. I picked up Darksiders III as a "free" PS Plus game, and the value proposition is therefore meaningless. What matters to me is the quality of the experience. The shorter game means a higher percentage of fights are premiere boss fights. It means spending less time grinding for experience, less time backtracking, and less time looking for that one path you passed early in the game that you can now unlock with your new weapon. More is not always better. For what it is, it is not that bad.

Basically just the ugly parts of darksiders one.. builsdings, subways, wood.. and one gorgeous underwater level.. but this is definitely the lowest effort game in the trilogy… no horse this time, just follow the skull on the map, do annoying frustrating not fun at all puzzles, and take down the 7 deadly sins which was the coolest part to me.. I was excited to see the twist of each one.. and sadly its just a run of the mill boss battle, .. the character design can be cool, but the battles are super lame.. as you progress the story youll unlock 4 different forms, a fire that can help you jump hier, electric that can help you levitate, some purple rock smashy power, and finally a power that lets oyu walk on water… and what does the game do with these powrs? They annoy you.. especially in the final few hours, forcing you to juggle them, hit this with this form, quickly switch to this form mid puzzle to freeze it in time to progress,.. mind you.. transforming is not intuitive, you gotta hold and press certain buttons all while making ssure youre zoomed in with the boomerand and selecting with l2 and throwing with r2 all while holding l1 down and going through the face buttons trying to remember who is who.. I hted it.. I hated every time a puzzle required 2 chracters simultaneously to solve… other than that I love the darksiders formular of collect osuls, spend them on upgrades, its as addictive here as it is in the previous games..
I midly enjoyed my time here, tracking down the 7 deadly sins, but wow did darksiders go from AAA potential to single A real quick

Darksiders 3 is an interesting mishmash of gameplay design choices that never quite coalesces into something great, but is fundamentally dragged down by a terribly mediocre story that is defined by awfully conceived characters and woefully written dialogue. It's a shame then, because the combat is relatively engaging despite some clunky design flaws.

They have tried to cash in on the dark souls alike bandwagaon, the game can be very unforgiving, which tbh again for me is fine, i kind of enjoy that mastering a boss fight to finally get it done but add how unforgiving it is to all the technical problems and it becomes a very bad joke, one of the worst is the horrific load times on death, its like playing something back on the ps2, add on top of that very unforgiving checkpoints and when you just want to be learning a fight to master you end up spending so much time staring at load screens / experiencing super slow frame rates and then out of the blue your out of the map glitched and have to restart it, the game world though is nicely done and it retains that oh i can go back there now i have got that ability progression type and it works very well, old faces return, it carries on the story which is great, i love the style of the design of the game, that is apart from fury! with how awesome death and war looked, fury literally looks like a 5 yr old school kid has designed an anime char, i love the change with the hollows and while playing its fine but then the cutscenes kick in and you see her face, omg it looks so bad i honestly dont know what they were thinking, its such a shame if they had kept the darksiders game style i would of easily been giving this a 9, but the problems are serious and unforgivable, me and my friend were so excited about ds3, he got it release day and i was so shocked the next morning to wake up to a txt saying dont buy it at full price! and he is a fan boy. :(
Awesome game world that plays the same style as ds 1 and 2
carries on the story with old faces returning
i love the idea of the new abilities/ hollows and the effect on fury
Horrific technical difficulties, long load times/ massive frame drops (single figure in places) / lots and lots of bugs incl the classic out of bounds/ map, makes some of the fights almost unplayable/ unfair
The devs ripped off dark souls style combat ( lazy and greedy and shows they dont care about us fans) + technical issues = very annoyed!
very poor design of main char

The game does nothing to impress, bad visuals, mediocre gameplay a dull protagonist a dull plot line. I got it for free on PS plus and I am still mad I wasted my time!

The opposite of Fun.. Loved the previous ones and there are glimpses here in some boss battles and cut scenes but the overall mechanics and combat decisions make this game extremely hard to like.
And the loading screens, f@ck the constant loading screens! 3 minutes loading screens to fight for 4 seconds where you get one-shot by anything (that can block 100% your attacks while you are not

The combat is not easy its tough, like you will get hit from enemies a lot unless you dodge and counter. There are 4 types of weapons (no gun this time :wallbash:) Weapons can be equipped with enhancements. weapons can be upgraded too which requires certain items just like dark souls.
There are 3 attributes which can be leveled up to increase health, damage and magic damage.
Boss fights are good, missing huge bosses.
There are very less puzzles when compared to previous Darksiders. Its linear open world, can collect everything post game completion.
With new patch they have improved many things, like instant health item usage, more checkpoints and classic combat style.

The graphics look like a late PS3 era game. I understand that not every game is going to be photo-realistic but the backgrounds and environments have no texture or detail, really bad looking.

I didn't hate the story but they clearly put a lot more effort into one or two of the bosses dialogue than the rest of them. Feels like they didn't care about the beginning of the game.

Combat feels OK for the most part. The respawn of enemies upon death isn't needed. It doesn't add anything to the game.

Overall the game is mediocre and I was a bit disappointed.

As much as I love Darksiders and want to support it, I must say that this game is a colossal disaster.. I wasn't expecting something mind blowing since I knew it was on a smaller budget, but some things like cut content, false marketing and huge technical issues are inexcusable.

I’d much rather have a meaty and engaging adventure that’s happy to embrace its videogame origins over a lavishly budgeted and beautiful ‘experience’ littered with dull introspective and endless navel gazing. Darksiders III gleefully provides the former while completely shunning the latter, and I’m all for it.

If the idea was to get you into Fury's angry mindset, then job done - though in truth you more often feel like one of her lesser-known cousins, Boredom or Irritation. [Issue#328, p.112]

An uninspired sequel that feels like it was rushed out the door.
