As much as I love Darksiders and want to support it, I must say that this game is a colossal disaster.. I wasn't expecting something mind blowing since I knew it was on a smaller budget, but some things like cut content, false marketing and huge technical issues are inexcusable.

First off, let me warn you about the scummy marketing THQ did with the trailer showing Fury and her horse... You NEVER get to ride the horse. Also, for those who were expecting the abyssal armor (which was in both previous games) it's gone and they're selling it as DLC in the future.
Moving on to it's technical department. Tons of frame drops and screen freezes because the game doesn't load the enviroment properly, as well as a game breaking bug where it randomly crashes loosing your WHOLE progress. Yes, you loose everything you did up to that moment.
Also, I can't possibly understand how a game with such tight spaces and mediocre graphics barely runs at 30fps.. God of War and Nier: Automata had better graphics and 5x times the world in size, yet they both had an uncapped option for PS4 Pro that could raise the framerate to 45-60fps. So what the **** is wrong with this one?
Lastly, I'll mention a couple of things about the gameplay. The fact that yet another game decides to rip off Dark Souls without having a clue on what makes the series good is already irritating.. But what's more irritating is how broken the dodging mechanic is. DO NOT dodge to the sides my friends, there are no invincibility frames unless you do a perfect dodge.
Gore and finishers are also removed in case you haven't noticed.

I believe Darksiders is a franchise with potential and that's why it kills me watching it getting screwed with entries like this. Darksiders 2 suffered from huge technical issues, same with this one. The lore is great, the artstyle is different and unique. It's a promising franchise, it just needs more attention or a new development team.

If you played literally any other Darksiders game then you've played this one. The only difference is the main character is boring in this one.

This game is literal garbage. They got rid of the mini map because they “wanted the player to get lost and not focus on side quests”, they made the dodging mechanic work only 25% of the time, the whip is a trash weapon and doesn’t hit enemies if they aren’t directly in front of you, every time I use the whip to swing from a bar or branch I’m always afraid that it isn’t going to grab aholdThis game is literal garbage. Ужасная игра. Я как фанат серии разочарован, что разработчики не продолжили развивать серию, а тупо сплагиатили все что только можно, пытаясь угодить всем кроме своих фанатов. Лучше бы они не выпускали продолжение.

first of all, this is a PS4 game with late ps2 graphics, really, this is ugly AF.and the camera is so awfull that makes it even uglier. not to mention how hard it is to lock on a target and still dodge everyone else.
i didnt finish but i've killed like 3 or 4 Sins, so i think i went pretty far, actually, but there was mot one thing i've found creative nor interesting or charismatic. for me it just seemed like the most stupid and the most generic "bloodborne meets god of war" i will ever see.

    - Some might have this as a bad point but i like the animation style and even tho some textures look clunky it looks nice overall
    - Nothing really negative to say about the Story itself

Sadly thats about it. Coming to the Con's:

    - Downgrade in variety of skills (No skill tree or actual Magic abilities)
    - The removal of loot which ultimately brings stale gameplay
    - Story progressive based weapons
    - The different secondary weapons give no real advantage over each other
    - Low damage numbers make you feel weak
    - Upgrading your weapons has no point since the damage increase is so low you can barely feel a difference (Whip Lv.9/Thunder Staff Lv.10)
    - Chaos form is extremely weak, its weaker then your regular hits but at least you dont lose HP while using it
    - No quick save
    - The hitboxes on a good part of moves and monsters are terrible
    - Even tho i dont mind the harder difficulty overall, i feels badly adjusted and basically ignores its casual player base since easy isnt really "easy"
    - The Puzzle aspect of the previous games was dumbed down to "swing over hole" and "fire jump"
    - Double jump is bugged and barely adds height to a regular single jump so i found myself constantly in fire form for optimal movement
    - Multiple crashes in just 28h of playtime
    - Dodge delay if you try to dodge back to back
    - To my knowledge there is no armor set available except the 2 i got. The standard grey and Gold one. They dont provide any stats whatsoever.
    - Leveling up Fury doesnt have an impact on the gameplay so you feel absolute no difference. ( i got to lv. 58 on my first Walkthrough, Lv.14 HP/Lv.22 Dmg/Lv.22 Magic)
    - There is seemingly no reason to collect souls other then Leveling up Fury which like i said doesnt denefit you in the slightest
    - Unbelievably cringy and edgy character script of Fury

I play on PC with controller and i have a mostly stable framerate and overall great performance. I see a lot of people complain about performance but i had a rather positive experience even tho sometimes the game freezes for about 2 seconds but continues to run smoothly again afterwards.

Overall i would not recommend this game. It has no variety in gameplay. It offers no satisfaction when upgrading or leveling up your weapons and character. Customization is non existent. Its a shell of a game with huge potential.
If you want to have a fun time hackin' and slashin' I do not recommend this game!

A proper tutorial for newcomers would have been nice, there's pretty much nothing of it outside of press this button to jump and that one to attack. I don't mind harder boss encounters, but holy crap are the reset points bad, like do the entire level before the boss again. Also, if you die during an encounter there isn't a possibility to regain your XP because you have to kill every enemy before the boss again which creates a slog. When you try to be a soulslike, you actually have to understand why it's fun learning an encounter and so on. The last steps and stage right before a boss are also important. Something like that is an absolute fun killer, it doesn't even matter if the game actually tries to be a soulslike or a Darksiders or whatever. Gunfire Games/THQ Nordic failed hard in that department.

Also the game is advertised as open world, though 90% of this "open" world are narrow hallways with bad camera to top it off. Also, the performance is really bad at times, sometimes even the game itself froze and I encountered one hard crash of the console while playing. The fps are capped, but I don't understand why. There are games with better graphics that aren't capped at 30 fps. I think the developer was just lazy here.

In the end, they done ****ed it up. How about trying to be a Darksiders game for once, and not dipping into every related genre of action adventure?

Darksiders 1 and 2 were a mix between Zelda and DMC. This time around the game tries to go it's own way and suffers for it. My biggest gripe is that there is no more dungeons in the game, that's right! The best thing about the old games are gone. Now the game is only a long hallway with some monsters in the way.

Maybe they will patch the poor control lag but who asked for a genre change? When over the many years since DS2 were fans saying make Darksiders more souls like?

For me i just dont like the repetition of having to wade through hordes of mobs every time you restart from a checkpoint. It's boring, time consuming and slows down the story progression. I'll bump it down to easy mode and try and burn through it but then it's getting traded.

Update: Having finished the game i very much enjoyed Fury's journey and story. I even prefer it over Death's but it doesn't bare replaying given the frustration of everything in between the juicy story points.

I was expecting some quality over the game, some good dungeons, good fights, good puzzles, platforming blablabla.. what the previous 2 games has offered. The combat flow feels wierd, if you get close to a group of enemies, it is possible to die no matter where you are, you will be spawned to the last Vulgrim place you've visited. And of course, you'll lose all of your collected souls, you have to fight again - if you want but you can just rush straight ahead -and you can collect your lost souls. Textures not loading fast enough, hitboxes being out of place, "cutscenes" being ruined by texture pop ins or even whole character models shifting and many more issues, that should honestly not be in any game on release.
The combat in this game is equally as terrible, it neither resembles Darksouls or Darksiders of the past and feels like a cheap Chinese copyright knockoff of the two. The game tries for the "close combat" approach of Darksouls but falls incredibly on its face when every move forces you to shift in any given direction and enemies fly around you like ninjas, leading you to switch to Darksiders of old and try and just kill the thing before it kills you.
I am writing this review before finishing the game but I am giving it leniency points just for the story. Yes it is not exactly J.R.R Tolkein quality but I find it satisfactory for a Darksiders game.

As a side note I am glad people are finding this game enjoyable, but giving it a needless 10/10 is completely irresponsible. The game is a shambles and the developers should see the score it deserves, not the score it has been bumped up to.

Darksiders 3.

Terrible. Ridiculous writing, unlikable characters, terrible one-click fighting system. Everything looks clunky, cartoonish and arcade. They tried to make another Dark Souls, but we ended up with a Poundland Sonic knock-off. I got it for free and I still feel like I overpaid.

Boring, it looks like a game of a generation ago, some things that could been added are missing and the story is missing of something.

So this is a personal one...
I recently played the first two games and they kind of reignited my love for gaming, which has been lost for a while. And then I started this. First thing I notice is a solid framerate of 15-25 fps at most. In no way do the graphics or gameworld justify this one bit. Don't get me wrong, it looks good and all, but there are games, that look better and don't have

I recently played the first two games and they kind of reignited my love for gaming, which has been lost for a while. And then I started this. First thing I notice is a solid framerate of 15-25 fps at most. In no way do the graphics or gameworld justify this one bit. Don't get me wrong, it looks good and all, but there are games, that look better and don't have these issues. With the stuttering follows the frustration. Dodging is wonky as hell and you lose orientation pretty easy. The concept of finding the seven deadly sins is a cool idea, but not executed in the most engaging way. And when you reach the sins themselves YOU WILL RAGE because of the afformentioned issues. There are attackes, which you either have to be very lucky to dodge (positionwise) or are damn near impossible to predict and thus to dodge. Darksiders 3 has a few cool aspects to its gameplay and the dialogue is kind of funny, at least between Fury and the Watcher, but other characters are dismissable and forgetable. Next thing is the map. Why do we not get to see the worldmap or partial maps? This complicates traversing and backtracking in a way, that I don't want to do it. The first games had one and they are 8 and 6 years older. Another feature completely gone is quicksaving. The only times the game sets a checkpoint is when you find a Vulgrim location, manual saving is completely gone. This makes many parts of the game exremely frustrating, when you die and you have to do 15-20 mins of gameplay all over again. Another thing, which bugs me is consumeables being gone after dying. I buy shards from Vulgrim before I fight a boss, I use a shard, I die and the shard is gone and I can't buy another one, because all my souls are gone. I really want to like it, but the amount of missing features, framedrops and frustrating moments make it very hard for me to do so. Very sad and disappointing.

Do you have any game that you quit Iin the first cutscene because you don't like the cutscene?

Furry isn't a warrior. Is a stupid celebrity.

And the begining of the game? Oh my, the council admitting such disrespect That's not a comic show!!

Darksiders franchise suffers hardly from an identity crisis. It really dont know what it wants to be. Now it wants to copy souls like success, without knowing what made it successful in the first place. There is not much freedom of criativity in the combat or in customization, there are no builds in this. The game is super linear. Fury is super annoying. But there are some good things, it has good boss design, areas and enemies are actually creative. Overall, its clear that the reason for this is the low budget the game received. And unfortunately the game didnt sold well, now the hope for an ending for the franchis dont looks like its coming soon Expand

I’d much rather have a meaty and engaging adventure that’s happy to embrace its videogame origins over a lavishly budgeted and beautiful ‘experience’ littered with dull introspective and endless navel gazing. Darksiders III gleefully provides the former while completely shunning the latter, and I’m all for it.

If the idea was to get you into Fury's angry mindset, then job done - though in truth you more often feel like one of her lesser-known cousins, Boredom or Irritation. [Issue#328, p.112]

An uninspired sequel that feels like it was rushed out the door.
