darksiders 3 wow after 6 years they finally released another game will this game be good like the first one or is it meh like the second one let me explain everything in my review
this game is a hard core dark souls like hack and slash game that tells the story about the four horsemen of the apocalypse this game takes place in the middle of the first one when war was taken prisoner by the charred council and it happens in the middle of the second one where death goes on a quest to prove his brothers innocence now ill get straight to the pros and cons

    pros:

-game is awesome combat is satisfying and you finally start with a horseman who is not depowered or wounded

-the fact that there is no map just a compass and that's it just explore makes the game all the more thrilling

-finally you don't need to get other peoples weapons and tools and the only new weapons you get is basically this elemental ones called hollows there is fire ice electricity and force and each one has its own weapon with combos

-fury is easily the best horsemen because of her commentary over things sometimes even breaking the forth wall just makes you laugh and get connected to the character

    - the environment is just beautiful and the enemies feel like they are just wondering their own business and not awaiting your attack same goes for the bosses you can actually see them chilling over some place and you needing to get there

    - this game punishes you for being greedy with your attacks this game is really hardcore about the combat and you need to dodge and learn your enemies attacks before you attack yourself kinda like dark souls

-the currency in this game is very similar to dark souls and some other stuff you can see where they got the ideas from for example there is a shard called undying shard which is basically like Tears of Denial where when your health drops to a zero you get some health back and a second chance

-there are some jaw dropping moments that even made my jaw hit the ground

    cons:

    - the story escalated to quick barely giving you a chance to get really into the story

-the parkour and the jumping stuff got a huge downgrade compared to the second game

    - the amount of bug and glitches and rendering issues is to much sometimes making me quit the game and take a break from that it needs to get fixed fast

-story is just to short and shallow

    - bosses aren't that interesting or challenging plus no additional side bosses or side missions

-the lack of horse riding although you are a HORSEMAN but yea what ever

-no replay value what so ever and no new gameplus

    - valgrim is a pain and for some reason they made it harder to buy health shards by upping the price of anything you buy everytime by a small amount but at some point its just to much

in conclusion this game is really good and i had a blast playing it it does have some bad moments but i gotta give some slack to thq nordic because this game was really low budgeted unlike the other triple a games in the market right now i wish they will learn of their mistakes and the next game they make will be a 10 but for now i give darksiders 3 a 7.5 out of 10

The gameplay has been made hard and unforgiving, to the point where I spent three hours just trying to get through the first ten minutes of gameplay on the easiest mode. No dice.

I have no idea what the people in charge of this project where thinking, but they managed to ruin what to me was one of the most promising franchises of console gaming.

Darksiders 3 sometimes feels like a little bit of a letdown compared to previous entries. However, it also gets lots right. Aside from some balancing issues and old-fashioned graphics, it's really a blast to play. Overall pretty happy with it.

The combat is not easy its tough, like you will get hit from enemies a lot unless you dodge and counter. There are 4 types of weapons (no gun this time :wallbash:) Weapons can be equipped with enhancements. weapons can be upgraded too which requires certain items just like dark souls.
There are 3 attributes which can be leveled up to increase health, damage and magic damage.
Boss fights are good, missing huge bosses.
There are very less puzzles when compared to previous Darksiders. Its linear open world, can collect everything post game completion.
With new patch they have improved many things, like instant health item usage, more checkpoints and classic combat style.

I am a fan of the series. I straight up admit it. I loved both previous games. They are the kind of games that you can describe as “best 7/10 this year”. Darksiders 3 is just that to me. It’s missing that polish that previous games had. It’s nothing game breaking and I usually do not notice the problems, but I am guessing others might. The plot is as usually convoluted and with almost no info is provided how it fits the timeline of the series. But I still like the apocalypse theme, I love the cartoonish touch, I like the combat and the Dead Souls-lite formula. It’s a little tacked on, but at least they are trying to highlight that each Horseman is different. I am simply having fun playing this. The maps are a bit bland but their design is very, very good. It’s a Castelvania style game done good. I really recommend this game to series fans. It’s a must play. For new to the series - probably you should start with Darksiders 1 to appreciate it. Buy this game and support it. We need to see the final act 4. Expand

Maybe they will patch the poor control lag but who asked for a genre change? When over the many years since DS2 were fans saying make Darksiders more souls like?

For me i just dont like the repetition of having to wade through hordes of mobs every time you restart from a checkpoint. It's boring, time consuming and slows down the story progression. I'll bump it down to easy mode and try and burn through it but then it's getting traded.

Update: Having finished the game i very much enjoyed Fury's journey and story. I even prefer it over Death's but it doesn't bare replaying given the frustration of everything in between the juicy story points.

Fury, a horseman of the apocalypse has no horse HUH!?

Game has massive run backs that make you feel like you are on playing hardcore with only one life. No iframes in the dodge so why even bother with a counter mechanic when you just die whenever you use it. It's no DS1 or 2, but it's still enjoyable for the most part. Make a direct sequel to the first and make it 4 player coop

The game is pretty good based on the budget it had. The critics who say its not good , maybe has some other agenda. People try this game once, its a good game in the series. It finishes on the positive note that we might see the forth horsemen. Support a smaller studio once and play it yourself and make your opinion then its way better than most of the AAA bugged mess we see these days.

I have been a Darksiders fan since the first game, and I was impressed by the aesthetics of the characters and the environment of the first two games. I also found it quite interesting mixing the puzzle solve of TLOZ series and the combat of games like good of war or devil may cry.

I can say that the third installment of the series is an interesting change of direction. Making the beautiful world they have created, into a giant puzzle to figure out "where to go" or " what actions to take in this stage", and changing the combat style from hack 'n' slash to a dark souls like combat style. It is obvious to see that Darksiders 3 is a game that the producers at gunfire games are trying to make a game that they feel is good, and I will give them credit for it.

The character design in the game has also been an amazing as ever. Each character feels very unique as the design shows many of their different aspects of the characters personality, such as Avarice(greed), a goblin like boss, who carries a giant sack of treasure on his back, or wrath, a giant fiery warrior cladded in silver armor.

The environment is also amazing. Whether you are travelling the ruined cities of Earth or in the dark depths of the hallow, each environment feels distinct and gives off this idea of what it would have looked like before the seals were broken. Whenever I have the moment, would just take in the look at the environment of the level I am working in. The levels are also filled with secrets to look for, which contain items that can be used to either level up fury or upgrade her arsenal.

I do want to say that I have no problems with this game, however, due to the amount of bugs, load screens, awkward camera angles and frame-rate drops that constantly plague the game as you go through it, it makes it difficult to continue the game in one sitting. It is understandable that gunfire is working with a low budget and not as many developers as any other triple-A title would have, but I believe the first two games had the same situation and did not find as many bugs or glitches compared to the third installment.

Darksiders 3 is definitely a game to own if you are a fan of the eternal battle between the armies of heaven and hell. However due to the amount of bugs that you will encounter, will make it hard for you to grind through.hopefully gunfire will be able to fix a majority of these through future updates. Although, If you want to buy the game, the PC version seems to be the one that is running the best.

Textures not loading fast enough, hitboxes being out of place, "cutscenes" being ruined by texture pop ins or even whole character models shifting and many more issues, that should honestly not be in any game on release.
The combat in this game is equally as terrible, it neither resembles Darksouls or Darksiders of the past and feels like a cheap Chinese copyright knockoff of the two. The game tries for the "close combat" approach of Darksouls but falls incredibly on its face when every move forces you to shift in any given direction and enemies fly around you like ninjas, leading you to switch to Darksiders of old and try and just kill the thing before it kills you.
I am writing this review before finishing the game but I am giving it leniency points just for the story. Yes it is not exactly J.R.R Tolkein quality but I find it satisfactory for a Darksiders game.

As a side note I am glad people are finding this game enjoyable, but giving it a needless 10/10 is completely irresponsible. The game is a shambles and the developers should see the score it deserves, not the score it has been bumped up to.

Sadly thats about it. Coming to the Con's:

    - Downgrade in variety of skills (No skill tree or actual Magic abilities)
    - The removal of loot which ultimately brings stale gameplay
    - Story progressive based weapons
    - The different secondary weapons give no real advantage over each other
    - Low damage numbers make you feel weak
    - Upgrading your weapons has no point since the damage increase is so low you can barely feel a difference (Whip Lv.9/Thunder Staff Lv.10)
    - Chaos form is extremely weak, its weaker then your regular hits but at least you dont lose HP while using it
    - No quick save
    - The hitboxes on a good part of moves and monsters are terrible
    - Even tho i dont mind the harder difficulty overall, i feels badly adjusted and basically ignores its casual player base since easy isnt really "easy"
    - The Puzzle aspect of the previous games was dumbed down to "swing over hole" and "fire jump"
    - Double jump is bugged and barely adds height to a regular single jump so i found myself constantly in fire form for optimal movement
    - Multiple crashes in just 28h of playtime
    - Dodge delay if you try to dodge back to back
    - To my knowledge there is no armor set available except the 2 i got. The standard grey and Gold one. They dont provide any stats whatsoever.
    - Leveling up Fury doesnt have an impact on the gameplay so you feel absolute no difference. ( i got to lv. 58 on my first Walkthrough, Lv.14 HP/Lv.22 Dmg/Lv.22 Magic)
    - There is seemingly no reason to collect souls other then Leveling up Fury which like i said doesnt denefit you in the slightest
    - Unbelievably cringy and edgy character script of Fury

I play on PC with controller and i have a mostly stable framerate and overall great performance. I see a lot of people complain about performance but i had a rather positive experience even tho sometimes the game freezes for about 2 seconds but continues to run smoothly again afterwards.

Overall i would not recommend this game. It has no variety in gameplay. It offers no satisfaction when upgrading or leveling up your weapons and character. Customization is non existent. Its a shell of a game with huge potential.
If you want to have a fun time hackin' and slashin' I do not recommend this game!

It's just a bad game at every aspects. As much as I want to love this, I am unable. It can't be compared the the "original" games. When THQ got bankrupted, Nordic and Gunfire Games was the worst option possible to make a sequel. I was expecting some quality over the game, some good dungeons, good fights, good puzzles, platforming blablabla.. what the previous 2 games has offered. The combat flow feels wierd, if you get close to a group of enemies, it is possible to die no matter where you are, you will be spawned to the last Vulgrim place you've visited. And of course, you'll lose all of your collected souls, you have to fight again - if you want but you can just rush straight ahead -and you can collect your lost souls. The only good thing about this game is the voice acting at certain known characters. I am not reccomending the game, not even at sales. The mixed critics are truly right. This isn't the Darksiders game we loved. RIP DS franchise. Expand

I’d much rather have a meaty and engaging adventure that’s happy to embrace its videogame origins over a lavishly budgeted and beautiful ‘experience’ littered with dull introspective and endless navel gazing. Darksiders III gleefully provides the former while completely shunning the latter, and I’m all for it.

If the idea was to get you into Fury's angry mindset, then job done - though in truth you more often feel like one of her lesser-known cousins, Boredom or Irritation. [Issue#328, p.112]

An uninspired sequel that feels like it was rushed out the door.
