The campaign is about 1 hour long, the multiplayer only comes with 9 maps!!! and zombies only has 1 map. The graphics suck and the guns are unrealisitic and sound fake. The game is not worth 60 dollars wait until its on sale or buy battlefield 1.

Very bad game. The maps are have tight cornors so the only gun you can use is an smg. The hit detection is off and the game is just like infinite warfare but with no jump packs. Plus the servers have been down every time I try to play it, if you are looking for boots on the ground get Modern Warfare Remastered. It is just as good as the origional.

    R.I.P Call of Duty.

I was really looking forward to this game because of all the media-fed hype. IMO wasted my money on this lame excuse for a game. There is nothing new here to see.... "please move along". This game is simply a cash-cow for Activision: a guarantee'd earner: micro-transaction hell.

In multiplayer: the graphics are pretty dismal. The maps nothing new. Weapons boring. I'm trying really hard to think of anything that impressed me.

On day of release the servers were running really slow. Sometimes we waited 5 minutes+ to get into a match. One thing in particular that I found annoying was the 'Headquarters' a place where all online gamers congregate prior to finding a match - more like a pen to contain the sheep.

I have bought and played all of the Call of Duty games since CoD 4 and watched as Activision have run out of ideas and produced lesser titles. I honestly didn't think anything could have been a greater disappointment than Infinite Warfare. This is.

The reality is a group of 6 of us - gamers who loved playing CoD were talking about trading the game in on day 2 of release really puts it in perspective.

If you enjoy FPS don't waste your money on this pile of tripe. If we keep buying this junk and filling their purses without saying how it really is then this is the end of gaming. :)

    Have a nice day.

Played the single player campaign. Absolutely pointless quick time events and the most bland missions i've never seen. absolutely standard cod, nothing special. The graphics could easily be from 2010 too. Definitely worse campaign than the "future settings" ones - and those were already pretty bad.

This is 80 gigs of trash. I sold it less than owning it for 24 hours.

Campaign: SUCKS. This is NOT a campaign. It is only 5 hours long. I am sorry, but a campaign should not take 5 hours to beat. I have purchased DLC content greater than that.

Multiplayer: TERRIBLE. COD continues to use the same gaming engine from 2007 and it shows in the graphics, they are terrible. Gameplay and movement is horrible. You are constantly swaying side-to-side which was intentional to give it that feel of really walking, it failed. Aiming is choppy as well. Above all that, the thing that really destroys COD is the community. You still have the same people playing that ruin the game. This game requires no skill, you can pick it up and get 15 kills without trying. People either hide or run around aimlessly like morons.

Zombies: Didn't even play. I was so displeased with everything else that I sold the game not even 24 hours later.

Lootboxes: These are NOT pay to win, they are cosmetic crap only.

I really wanted to like this game so much.

    -Zombies is fun
    -WW2

-When your team actually works together War mode is fun
    -Headquarters is neat

    Cons
-Multiplayer is broken (Spawns, Finding matches, Contracts, Guns)
    -Multiplayer maps are honestly ****
-Campaign can easily be beaten in one sitting
    -Zombies is overly convoluted
    -Multiplayer is unbelievably broken
    -BS deaths in the campaign

I don't care about the supply drops they are in every game seriously if you're rating it low for that shut the **** up. The playing as black people and women in the MP who ****ing cares, The iron crosses in Campaign who cares?! Yeah I wouldve liked it if the Nazi army had swastikas but whatever its no bother. Maybe this time there would be improvements, genuinely well thought out ideas that added value to the game.
I had a weekend to kill and a few friends were buying so I joined in and I wish I hadn't bothered.

The campaign is somehow worse than the most recent transformers, and most recent fast/furious films, and that's just the story and voice acting.
The most frustrating element is the illusion breaking invisible walls and magic shields that force the player to do tasks in exactly the way the developer planned.
This is fine for certain games, but when the illusion of choice is given to you, and then for no logical reason and without explanation is taken away; forcing you to start at the last checkpoint, it's offensive, it's lazy and it's not acceptable for a AAA title.

Minor (and even a few mission failing) bugs could be forgiven if the above wasn't true and coupled with this title's cream of the crop price tag. Something HAS to change.

Whilst the multiplayer is better than the campaign, it too has seen very very little innovation unless you include the headquarters lobby which I don't as it isn't game play. The illusion of being surrounded by players does not create an atmosphere as there is very little you can do to interact with each other and no one bought the game to socialise with random players.

Same old copy paste create a class system with only superficial changes. Same old bulletproof hedges, invisible map walls funneling players into one of seven(not several) engagement positions on each map. Same old grind, fast twitch no scope, zero strategy , low team cooperation as the last 8 COD derivatives.

And FINE. I might be able to forget all this and just sip my BUY&LARGE cup cake in a cup and play..

IF I COULD CONNECT TO THE ONLINE SERVERS MORE THAN 1/20 TIMES.

Obviously don't buy it, but I did so I won't blame you. We need to stop giving battlefield/battlefront/cod/fifa our money and start demanding a better product from them than a repackaging. We need to change the game, so we can change the game.

I have no idea what they've done to the servers but for the past two weeks they no longer work. The lag is game breaking and completely destroys all the fun. It makes the game a frustrating mess. Nearly every game I play I see the enemy first, unload a full clip into them getting 10 hit markers while they kill with one bullet. Even playing with steady aim and firing from the hip doesn't work, as soon as you see an enemy -as you are pulling the trigger- you are dead. On the rare occasion you will beast but sadly knowing it's because everyone else is lagging. Sometimes it hilarious; like when I came up behind a camper facing the opposite direction, unleashed a series of bullets into his head only for him to suddenly teleport around and quick scope me. Sometimes you could cry - like the round I played and went 0.20 because not a single bullet from any weapon would register.

I switched back to IW and there I was, top of every game pulling high scores and low deaths. No other game I own lags like COD WW2. Battlefield runs perfect, Overwatch runs perfect, COD IW runs perfect, COD 4 remaster runs perfect yet WW2 is like playing on a 46k modem.

The social hub is still a ghost town which they haven't bothered to fix, but made sure they added COD Points to buy loot crates!

Maps are a mess, badly designed and boring. There's next to no content.

The war maps are actually pretty fun and for some bizarre reason don't lag anywhere near as much as the standard maps, but there's only 3 of them!

With the season pass you get a remastered map from COD2 which is insulting considering they didn't give enough maps with the main game, no doubt it was removed simply to entice people to buy the season pass.

Basically it doesn't work, we should all be refunded for paying for a product that is basically in alpha stage still.

Worst Cod in the history of cod. Avoid at all costs.

    ....................................................

    Update 06.01.18
Two months after launch I have deleted COD WW2. The servers are completely broken to a point where it is now impossible to play. Lag com, poor hit detection, teleportation and spawns are destroying any fun that could have been had. Every game is a constant frustration and doing well is not based on skill but if you have lag comp for or against you. It's beyond frustrating to shoot first, get 12 hit markers and die to see in your kill cam you haven't even fired a bullet. This is officially the worst COD in the entire history of COD. It's a cheap rushed bare bones mess.

It showed the war without embellishment, real, brutal war. We have forgotten what it is. We used fun to kill enemies in video games without hesitation. After CALL OF DUTY: WWII start to appreciate the peaceful times in which we live.

The story tells the usual story of a military soldier. Together with brothers in arms wades through a real hell. We've seen similar stories in games, the war has not been shown so realistically. Basically, this effect causes dismemberment. Very often we will see people without body parts, burning people and the atrocities of the Nazis.

The plot is simple, but you believe in this war, believe what is happening on the screen. All the characters have their own character, everyone has their demons. It is interesting to observe the drama of the characters.

The gameplay is now in spirit first every part OF CALL OF DUTY. Because of this the gameplay has become more boring. You sit behind cover and aims at enemies. Diversity is not. But there is one good innovation. The developers decided to implement in a single company element of teamwork. If we need supplies, first aid kit or swegene about the enemy - we are asking comrades. This is an interesting thing. and Yes, now health itself is not restored - it is necessary to look for kits. Here you don't feel like a super soldier ready to kill everyone, you could die at any moment.

Call of Duty: WWII is a game about realistic warfare. A single company is not very long, but no time to get bored. It's not the best Call of Duty, gameplay and artistic design can to lose IW, but nevertheless it was nice to return to the battlefields of WWII.

Best Call of Duty I ever played.

The game is very gun-skill based, unlike the previous versions. It rewards the player with better aim on close quarters gunfights. If you don´t have reflexes or good aim you will not kill your enemy. And that is how a shooter should be, just like Quake. The numbers don´t lie, this is the best selling CoD ever on launch already, on console, and the most played CoD on PC ever. There is a reason for that. The game is good, skilled. If you´re not good at it, you will not like it. You can go back to casual and slow Battlefield or Pubg for a different experience.

However, where CoD WWII stumbled the most is in its scale. The campaign has its moments and ends up being a good reason to pick up Call of Duty to begin with but its multiplayer pairing is not so fortunate. Much of WWII's multiplayer feels heavily rehashed from previous games, adding little new to spice up the formula. Maps are typically dense and lead to more encounters between players but that doesn't translate to more fun. Often times, players can be cornered into spawn kill/deaths, especially if an opposing team knows where to stop pressing to keep the predictable computing from spawn-swapping. It really bugs me that no Activision title with the CoD moniker has fixed this problem after years of abuse. Nazi Zombies always has its fun moments, bringing a more visceral experience to the shooter. It's clear to me that this game mode is the only aspect that delivers time after time. It shows complexity, strategic thinking, and white-knuckle experiences because of how unpredictable the game mode can be. Good on Sledgehammer for keeping this part of the game fun and interesting. However, outside of an OK campaign, there isn't much to love here. Call of Duty continues to be nothing more than a re-skinned version of itself, year after year. This is a huge irritation as Call of Duty is begging to break out of its shell. Perhaps the future will yield a larger sandbox feel to CoD, especially as console and PCs continue to advance and offer more horsepower to smoothly handle the heavy computing that can come with AAA games.

As for WWII - if you like the setting, this is not the game to play. Battlefield 1 offers a much deeper and open experience that encourages a little role play here and there. Only CoD fanboys that wait on the scraps that fall from Activision's table will ever find a lot to love here. WWII continues the tradition of CoD failing to impress. It is clearer to me year after year that the original Infinity Ward crew were the lifeblood of Call of Duty and once Activision broke up that team, some of which went on to make Titanfall years later, that the pulse of CoD fell dramatically. With the exception of Black Ops, Call of Duty hasn't been interesting since the Modern Warfare series. I'm still waiting for the franchise to be resurrected and WWII does nothing to make that happen. Buy at your own risk.

Multiplayer is where the ineptitude of Activation and Sledgehammer really shines through though. MP is a bug filled, lagging mess full of hit-markers that don't kill your enemies due to Activision's refusal to implement dedicated servers and one of the most counter intuitive menu systems of all time. The perk system in this game is pretty much non-existent and there are only 9 maps available which are all uninspired 3 route camper fests and a chore to play.

The only reason anyone even likes this game is because the previous three titles in this franchise set the bar so astronomical low that something as asinine as boots on the ground game play seems refreshing to the fanboys who waste their money on this game year after year.

The characters, they have charisma and you really get to care about them, having importance in the story and in the gameplay, helping you with supplies and techniques. You will have differnt types of gameplay, controlling a tank or a plane for example, giving a little of variety to the gameplay. Generally isn't that original or anything, but still pretty fun.
Multiplayer: The multiplayer isn't the best of the franchise, but it's pretty fun. They added some modes that really are worth to talk about, the mode War, it consists in one team trying do advance and complete one objective per time, and the other trying to stop it, this mode really explore the map and how you can use the map in favor or against you, it really reminded me from Rush in Battlefield 3, the mode Pop Hunt that is based on things that already existed but is soo much fun, i enjoyed that one very much, it consist in one team becoming and object and hiding, during the other is trying to find those, playing that with friends are a sure fun moment. The variety of weapons considerable, hand to hand and shooting weapons.
Zombies: This mode in this game really made me had a lot of fun, the zombies here aren't completely new but have some good and interesting inovation, the prologue passes in a small house and you can work around that and keep going on wave to wave, very fun to do it so. The Final Reich worked very well to me, a i did enjoyed how the map was constructed and how it worked out, the amount of enemies is ok, not very much. What i really liked it, are the easter eggs, it took time and aren't that easy to do, if you can get together some friends to do them, you will definely have some hours of fun and struggling.
This Call of Duty is the first one that i played since BO2, so i wasn't bored or even knowing what was going on on the franchise very much, so it possibly counted to this review.

    Campaign -
While i know most play call of duty for the multiplayer, i still love playing the campaigns as well. The one were given here in WW2 has to be one of the worst in the franchise. Characters who i cant remember with the exception of Daniels because everyone was screaming his name every 2 seconds, clipping that can be spotted easily with one example being in the opening scene and vehicle physics that are plain awful. The first level was so much fun but it all just fell apart after that. If your buying just for the campaign, pass on this one.

    Multiplayer -
Here is where the game should really shine but it just doesn't. We all know what a disaster the launch was so i'm just going to skip over that. The game comes standard with 9 maps and to be honest i only kinda like 2 or 3 of them. Theres no map that comes up in the rotation that i get excited to play on. The spawns are AWFUL and i seem to always be put right infront of someone who ends up shooting me in the back. The guns need some serious work as everyone is just running around with the STG, Bar, PPSH and kar. The new mode war is pretty fun until you realize there are only 3 maps to play on with it and the new headquarters is ripped straight from destiny and feels pointless. I dont play zombies so i cant personally speak on that but from what im hearing its not to great either.

I hope one day i'll be able to love a call of duty game again but this most definitely is not the one.

Its a breath of fresh air and everything you've wanted Call of Duty to be for a while.

I will not compare to other games (e.g. Battlefield), because they are different games, each fantastic in their own way. I personally prefer Call of Duty for fast-paced action, and WW2 is no different in that regard. Multiplayer matches kick in to sixth gear from the get-go, in beautifully crafted environments that will sometimes make you stop and appreciate the design work that has gone in.

The usual formula that all prior games use is still here, so don't expect a massive change. There are micro-transactions available to purchase, but these are in no way vital to the experience, as WW2 is more about how well you can shoot than how well you can unlock. Most unlockables are aesthetic, so they will not make or break your ability.

Zombies mode feels incredibly familiar, as there are few new additions to this mode. It does begin to feel like a chore, and there isn't huge replayability in it. The included map is huge, although it would be great if we were given more zombies maps to choose from - even something simple like the survival maps from BO2 (town and farm). That being said it is still a lot of fun, and why change a winning formula?

Many reviews on Metacritic seem very biased and thats because everybody has preferences. If you have been with the franchise for a long time like me, you most certainly won't be disappointed - this is the COD you've been waiting for for a long time.

    Rating the three categories:
    Campaign - 10/10
    Multiplayer - 10/10
    Zombies - 8/10

The gunplay is great, the journey (story) and pacing/variety in the campaign is amazing. The characters are believable and likeable and for some reason the graphics in the campaign is amazing, whilst the multiplayer looks last gen. I like how we switched between characters (kinda like gta 5) depending on the circumstances; and the surprise and smile on my face when we got to fight in the skies was great. It also has amazing blockbuster driving sequences and explosive sequences that are really fresh and jaw-dropping. I can't like and recommend this campaign enough. Fun diverse gameplay, captivating journey, amazing cutscenes; campaign is definately a 9/10. Now the multiplayer is serviceable but it's only serviceable because they slapped a COD on it. Maps are a **** which promotes camping, 80% of it's map are too small and feel like mazes. The divisions are a disappointment and takes away player freedom. Guns feel/look/ sound too similar too each other. Typical COD playlist. Positives on multiplayer: will be dominated by veterans, more tactical and not as much run and gun, is satisfying when you're on a killstreak. Multiplayer was ok for me and is a generous 6/10. In a nutshell I want to say buy/rent (if you want) for the campaign and treat the serviceable mp as a treat. However if you're buying COD just for multiplayer I would advise skip it, (well it depends what type of gamer you are, definitely skip if you want 100 hours into mp type of game, as I feel this MP will grow stale quick.) - The campaign is too short, although decent, forgettable.
    - Game modes are banal (big surprise), done much better in alternative games of the same genre
    - Zombies are still fairly entertaining to play with friends, but the game mode is quite like the nature of a zombie – lifeless, often pedestrian, and mostly uninspired.

This time around, I’d say COD is lower than mediocre. I absolutely encourage waiting for a price drop (unless you absolutely adore COD multiplayer/zombies).

I don't understand the destiny style hub area though. it doesn't make too much sense since most people will rush to match lobbies rather than roam around in some place that could easily have been accessed in a menu. also, at least in Europe, i see no one in the hub area, like 0. I waited for a 1v1 match for 3 whole minutes and I was the only one in the queue the whole time. however, the multiplayer is damn awesome, I love the map designs, really fun and easy to move around in and the designs are actually really cool. cod should probably change their engine in the next coming years since graphics are starting to look dated, it's far from bad but we can see better from AAA games. it's kinda hard to understand how the whole hub area works, I have no idea how supply drops work even after 15 hours of gameplay, I just somehow get them from time to time. I also don't know how to get armory credits, like at all, the whole thing with the quartermaster is hard to understand. I guess I'll have to figure it out as I go along. the weirdest thing to me is that no one is in the hub world, I mean it takes literally no time to get a match but it's no man's land in the hub world. so far the game is 8 but it could be a 9 when I understand how everything works, it's so hard to figure out these things, right now but just playing this game is a joy, I really like these map designs even though the template is pretty much the same. I've played most CODs (some for a long time, some VERY briefly) since the very original on PC all those years, and although the return to WW2 does suggest a lack of new ideas etc, it's one of the better recent releases, especially following last year's abysmal Infinite Warfare. The return to WW2 obviously means no jetpacks, double-jumps or futuristic tech that distracted from the actual gunplay, which for now, is a welcome change. There are plenty of issues too, which I will mention below, along with the positives -

    Pros

    - The single player campaign is fun, which is something that can't be said for the past few iterations of COD. It does visit settings and places that have been done in every other WW2 game but it does it with a level of polish that isn't seen in many others. Objectives are varied, so although it is the familiar campaign, it does help mix things up a bit. The introduction of squad mates who provide you with supplies/health packs/support is a nice addition that keeps you on your toes.

    - The multiplayer benefits greatly from the lack of futuristic nonsense (drones, robots, nanobots etc) and is a much more focused experience for it. Because of the WW2 setting, the developers are more restricted in types of weaponry available and the game benefits from it, meaning it''s a bit more balanced and not quite as chaotic as before. It also introduced Headquarters, which is a social hub, not unlike The Tower in Destiny/Destiny 2. It's initially overwhelming but once you get used to it, it's good to be able to run about in and check with vendors while waiting for a game to start.

    - Graphically the campaign looks great. Textures are nice, it's very polished and it all runs very smoothly.

    Cons

    - Graphically, the multiplayer doesn't look great (which is nothing new in COD) especially now that the devs have had a few years with the PS4 (and XBone) kits, which is disappointing. It looks like it could easily be from the last generation of consoles, but I suppose graphics aren't everything.

    - Considering that it's gone back to WW2, it's no surprise there isn't an awful lot of innovation, and nothing that hasn't been seen in other WW2/COD/BF games.

    - The biggest issue at the moment is the servers - at times the online is unplayable due to errors, extremely slow matchmaking (which has been confirmed to be an issue with the servers as opposed to my connection) and completely empty Headquarters hubs. It's completely possible that if you do manage to connect to the online services that you could be sitting in a lobby waiting for a game for 15 minutes - it's that slow. It is assumed that this issue will be fixed with a patch or update very very soon, but it's still shocking that for a game as big and popular as COD that this is such a problem.

    Other points

    - Zombies - it has zombies mode as usual. I don't care, and never have cared for Zombies but if it's something you like, it's there and is pretty much the same as previous Zombies modes in previous games, so if you liked them then yay! If not, it likely won't change your mind.

Overall, COD WW2 is an enjoyable enough game with a few issues holding it back, none more so than the servers which will hopefully be fixed soon. Definitely worth playing through and having a go on multiplayer - if you loved older CODs (such as 2, 3, Modern Warfare and World at War), then you'll feel right at home. If you don't like COD though, I don't think this will change your mind.

If you want them out, STOP PAYING FOR THEM. YOU ARE THE ONES PAYING FOR THEM TO BE THERE.)

Let me make this short and break it down into three sections: Call of Duty: WW2, the game; Call of Duty: WW2, the Comparisons; and, Call of Duty: WW2, the Community.

--- The Game: This is a game which can be easily scored anywhere between 5 and 8, depending on your mood, on your common sense, on your intelligence, or on your need to defend your purchase of this game, or to attack it in order to defend your purchase of another game (i.e. BF1, Destiny 2). The Campaign is good, albeit short. The MP is exactly like the Beta, plus the usual millions of microtransaction options which just keep getting cleverer and cleverer.

--- The Comparisons: This game is not BF1. It has great visuals and good voice acting/writing. However, because it is not BF1, it also moves faster, which is great. BECAUSE it moves faster, it does not need to look as good. No one buys a game like this in order to stare at puddles in the mud, that's what games like Horizon: Zero Dawn are for. People compare for various reasons, not the least of which is, they simply don't know what they want anymore... and it is not our fault. Publishers and Critics and even YouTubers swing us left and right (bet they have fun doing it) for the sake of a sale, or for the sake of a sponsorship. In the end, so many people ended up buying Infinite Warfare BECAUSE of MW:RE... so it didn't matter. Activision won. Yay! And so did DICE/EA, because they also bought BF1. And so did Blizzard (Activision's merge), because they also bought Overwatch. And there go more than $180.

The Community: I'll lay it flat. Go anywhere. Whether here on Meta, or YouTube, or the Activision community, or just on the mics on PS4 and you'll reach the same conclusion I have reached: Call of Duty has been hijacked by children, and this is here to stay. Children, because, well, that is what children do, are not the best at playing well, although if you don't take the game too seriously, you'll be fine, since they are pretty good at just having plain fun in ridiculous ways, without worrying about dying or having their teammates killed, etc etc, and heck... since when did we get so serious about games?

Enjoy this game if you bought/buy it. That's all I can say. I couldn't enjoy it, but notice my score. My personal experience doesn't change what I see to be a solid COD experience, like in the past with MW and MW2.

Call of Duty WWII is a solid game, though it has MANY flaws. But before we get to the heart and soul of the game, the multiplayer, lets talk about the campaign.

    THE CAMPAIGN:
It's pretty good, one of the better in the series, and the first one I've actually played all the way through since BO2. This campaign is a lot of the same stuff, but it feels more engaging because of the WW2 setting, and shooting Nazis with iconic WW2 guns was pretty cool. The characters were okay, they were a bit flat, but at least there was something here. They felt like flat characters, but they were still characters, which is more than I can say about some of the other games. Overall, it was a Call of Duty campaign, and if you enjoyed the other game's campaigns, you'll enjoy this one. If you're not a fan, I would still recommend trying it, as it makes some improvements I really like, like being able to request ammo, and meds from squad mates. It was pretty good for a CoD campaign, but nothing amazing.

    THE MULTIPLAYER:
    Oh, where do I start.
First off, the good: The gameplay is fun, and it does feel more like the older Call of Dutys without the jetpacks and all that crap. It's pretty fast paced, but I found the gunplay pretty satisfying and the overall gameplay just pretty fun. Also, in this game they introduced a new mode, War, and put simply, its a blast. It's basically Battlefield's rush but in Call of Duty. You have to make it through a few objectives while the other team tries to stop you. I really like it, and hope to see it return in future titles. Yeah, so gameplay is pretty good.
And now, the bad: This game had the WORST launch in all of CoD history. The first 2-3 days I couldn't even get into a multiplayer. It finally started working for me, but it's still a bit shaky, sometimes lagging, or taking longer than it should to find a match. Other people have been getting it worse than me, and apparently can't get into a match even now. This is unacceptable for a $60 AAA game. Also, Headquarters is an epic fail. Currently, it is impossible to get into headquarters with another player, which is the whole point. Your stuck wandering around by yourself. Some achievements even require you to do things with other players, which is hard to do WHEN THERE'S NO OTHER GODDAMN PLAYERS!!!! I also just hate the idea in general, I just wanna get into a game and shoot some dudes while blasting classic rock in the background (Please tell me I'm not the only one who does that). But I don't give a s*** about "Social Score" and doing stuff in the headquarters. Why not just put all that stuff in menus? Anyways, now that I've covered some launch issues, lets cover things about the game's fundamental mechanics. Divisions is a stupid system. When they said they were "going back to their roots" I didn't think they meant they were legit going back and removing some of the great innovative features of the recent CoDs. This system was a complete step back from the pick-10 system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sledgehammer said this one would feature more customization than ever before, which is just a flat out lie. In fact, it''s the opposite of the truth. There's less customization options for your classes in this one.
This game is also lacking some iconic WW2 weapons. For example. the Sten, it was promised before the game launched, but it's nowhere to be seen. The Mosin Nagant, perhaps the most iconic sniper of the war, is completely absent from the game. We're also missing the Gewehr 43. This game doesn't feature a revolver of any kind either, which is most perplexing of all. Revolvers are such an iconic part of any war, I don't see why they wouldn't bother to include one in the multiplayer. Especially because there's one featured briefly in the campaign. They programmed the model and all the animations but didn't put it in the multiplayer?
And finally, black female Nazis. Just, why. NOBODY would have complained if women weren't in the game. It's almost disrespectful to all the men who fought and died in the war. Even more stupid, is that you couldn't play as a female soldier in Infinite Warfare, a game taking place a few hundred years in the future, in freaking space for crying out loud. Nope, no females in that but WW2, yup, put women in it. Wtf?
    And finally,

    THE ZOMBIES:
I'm not a huge zombies fan but this one's okay.

    THE VERDICT:
CoD WWII is a good change of pace, and a solid Call of Duty experience, but is plagued with launch issues and broken gameplay mechanics. If you're a huge Call of Duty fan, and was looking forward to this one, go ahead and buy it. If you're not really into Call of Duty and are on the fence, I might be a bit hesitant to spend $60 on it. 6/10. Solid WWII shooter, and a needed change of pace for Call of Duty.
Edit: 5 months in and I'm done. Boring gameplay, terrible maps, I only have 30 characters left, but no replay value basically.

-Censorship in a game that's supposed to be for adults is inappropriate. Sledgehammer has no right to tell others what's too sensitive to view and what's not. Hiding swastikas in a game about WWII is just immature and illogical on Sledgehammer and Activision's part.

-The outdated connection service they use is really showing just how outdated it is. A mass amount of people that bought the game cannot connect to the servers. The fact that Activision makes literally billions of dollars a year from their gambling crates but still use the cheapest possible multiplayer service is disgusting...

When its all said and done this game could've been amazing. I was excited for COD WWII because I read it had team members from the original Deadspace, and the last COD WWII game, World at War was pretty good.

I played through the first level, the D-day landing and it was okay, but no better than Allied Assault on PC a decade ago. As a historical shooter goes, Battlefield 1 is superior in every way. The Zombie mode is okay, but it's the same old same old deal. If you were expecting anything new or different...

This is the best COD game I've played since the first Modern Warfare, but it still seems like a rushed/cheap wannabe triple a game. Considering it's nearly 2018, this game feels like it's a couple years old. I had no interest in multiplayer, so I didn't try it. Immediately swapped it in for Wolfenstien 2, which I hope is better.

I don't understand all the hate here. Yes, the servers were bad at launch but oh well. Call of Duty is finally back to its roots with World War 2 and boots on the ground. The single player is great and worth a try. The multiplayer is pretty good and so is the zombies.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I enjoyed this game, especially in the context of the underwhelming COD games of the past few years. I have so far only played the single-player, although I have watched videos of people playing the MP and it looks fun- but I'll restrict my comments to the campaign.
First off, the campaign is largely back to basics and this, for me, is a good thing. Gimmicks like missions spent driving a tank or a plane are there, but kept to a minimum. In the main, missions are you and your platoon engaging in advancing towards and objective through waves of enemies with a few enjoyable stealth segments in the mix. This is what I want from a FPS game. I just want an enjoyable combat experience, no gimmicks, no clunky vehicle missions, just fun FPS action- and, in the main this is what COD WWII delivers. (Although there are still annoyingly clunky vehicle sections (but short ones at least)).

The story of the game was also quite enjoyable for me. I liked the characters, the weren't as 1 dimensional as other COD characters have been, I actually cared whether Zussman survives or not. Indeed the fact that your platoon members all have tangible roles and utility (i.e. one can give you health packs, another one gives ammo, another spots enemies) made it for once feel like in a FPS game I'm not winning the war all on my own.

I also thought that the graphics of the game were better than previous COD games, which I felt had produced largely 'same-old, same-old' graphics. This game looked more detailed and vibrant, for a change- although it could be argued that COD still lags behind other FPS games in this regard.

Turning to negatives, going back to my earlier point- there are still clunky gimmick missions- for example the driving the tank section where you're expected to drive a tank in FP perspective, whilst operating the gun and not getting stuck. The problem is that the vehicle controls are always clunky in games not centred around vehicles, thus sections spent flying planes or driving tanks just end up feeling frustrating and gimmicky. The mission where you deliver the briefcase, although arguably gimmicky as well, involved stealth elements which I found quite enjoyable in this game. Thus it was mainly the driving missions which irked me.

In this game sledgehammer have changed melee hits. In previous COD games (as far as I can recall) melee hits are one hit knife kills. In this game this is only true of stealth melee kills from behind, when you rush an enemy and melee attack you hit them with the butt of your gun, this only stuns enemies at full health. As someone who enjoys classic COD games, I personally want a game that stays true to the basic mechanics of those games. What made this COD enjoyable for me was that it was more similar to classic COD in some ways (i.e. returning to BOTG). However, changing the melee kills, and also removing health regen from campaign seemed pointless- if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I also found that there were some glitches in the campaign, particularly I found that heroic actions, where you drag a wounded teammate back to cover would often not resolve themselves when I got the person to the cover spot. By that I mean my character would not set the wounded teammate down when I got to the spot I was meant to get them to. Also I found that sometimes I would be desperately trying to get off of a turret and my character would not do so not matter what I did.

Finally, if you are going to include gimmicky driving missions, try to make the controls not absolutely unbearably clunky.

Overall, I enjoyed this game (the single-player, at least). It returned to a more classic COD formula- with missions that were standard COD-type missions, nothing crazily innovate but highly enjoyable for me. The world and characters were immersive, the story kept me relatively engaged, with only a few glitches and gimmicks putting a damper on an fun experience. I will almost certainly play this campaign again. In summary, if you enjoyed the campaigns of the previous BOTG COD games, then I'd say you'll enjoy this one. As for the MP, you'll have to read other reviews, because as I said at the start of this review I haven't played it yet.

As someone who enjoyed COD: WaW (The other WWII game in the COD series), I thought this was a enjoyable update to the era. I loved the zombies changes and gameplay. I think the maps aren't has fun as I would like but they're not terrible. So far the campaign is alright as well. The loading times between screens is horrible though.

SMH!!! People coming in here to give a bad review just because they suck at the game. People, the game is way better in all aspects than any previous COD game. Is it perfect?? No, it is not perfect. It still has many areas where it needs improvements. But it is way better and way more fun than any other COD. Don't listen to all the exo suit fanboys coming in here to give bad reviews.

I gave up playing that mid year, although the DLC was really good I must say, they were redeeming themselves a bit. Honest Opinions:
I've never played a Call of Duty game for months though this game delighted me. Call Of Duty WWII is a diverse Call of duty game. The game is an amazing with good gameplay, a great story, and a horrifying zombie mode.
The singleplayer was great with memorable characters and missions. Call Of Duty leads you towards the action and makes you feel more like a real soldier.

The singleplayer was great with memorable characters and missions. Call Of Duty leads you towards the action and makes you feel more like a real soldier. Enemy A.I has "EXTREMELY" improved with its actions. Friendly A.I react very realistically to their movement. The problems with the singleplayer are, that when characters talk, the characters don't even look like they are talking, and plus the beginning of the campaign felt like you were more than special but after the first quarter, you start to feel like a real soldier.

Multiplayer is "Astonishing" with its well-paced gameplay and great animations. Call Of Duty WWII supplies you with weapons used in the 1st and 2nd World War. When I first played this, I had a big smile on my face because of how fun the gameplay was. But there is a big fall down with the multiplayer and it is the map design. Though some maps were great, in Call Of Duty WWII's map design, it felt like you knew where to go.

Zombies was a disappointment but I didn't say it was bad. Zombies put you in a great stance if you want to get scared. The experience was great but I didn't play too much of it.

Let's be clear. People giving this game below a 5 are pathetic reviewers. They can't imagine a perspective outside their own and let anger interfere with their judgment. The developers put loads of work into this game and it came out great, while not perfect, no COD ever is. The argument that it deserves a 0 or 1 because it is a twitch shooter is absurd. I don't go and review them as a 1 because they don't suit my taste, or because I'm bad at them. Yes, this is the millionth cod and they are all relatively similar. People complain they want something new. They get something new and complain they want old cod. Accept you guys can never be satisfied. It's not the games fault, you have just grown out of the series. When you start a new job, you may love it at first, but as the year's progress you will find complaints and issues with it even though its the same old job from before. COD games bring in BILLIONS of dollars for a reason. Overall, people cant stop playing, hating, and loving every moment of the games. Get a grip on your all or nothing opinion. Expand

So far, some cons to note are the networks have been off and on, and they disabled HQ mode while they fix it. Honestly, the destiny-style hq mode annoys me - id rather go through menus than fake interactions but whatever, its down right now if thats your thing.

Steep upgrade curve - until you get a few attachments, your basically cannon fodder feeding the silly negative reviews on here.

And i'll just address the negative reviews head on, it certainly feels to me (as someone who swore off any more cod games until I had tried this one and was won back over) that many of these reviews have not actually played the game, and have it out for the devs. Reviews that talk about bad starts, probably legit, but just be wary.

I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]
