Another year and another Call of Duty game. This time they've ditched the jetpacks and what not and gone back to their roots. CoD WW2 unsurprisingly takes place during WW2. We get to play through a story that we've played a thousand times before. Im struggling to really connect with the chatacters too. Mainly because squad mates are bloody useless in a fire fight leaving it up to me to do everything. The AI is as dim as ever and the dialogue is just a clichè fest. Like i said its not terrible but its certainly not worthy of anything over a 6 or 7 out of 10. The MP is as you'd expect. Solid and tight and raining loot crates. Activision go to extreme legths to try to convince you to part with your cash, its kind of embarassing to be honest. There's even a daily mission to watch 3 people open loot crates in the social space. Gunplay is good, sounds are good and the level design is overall pretty decent. Graphically Call of Duty continues to show its age and as i've said in the past its desperate for a new engine. Certainly a better Call of Duty than we've had in the last few years but its nothing special so dont expect too much except your normal Call of Duty experience. Expand

Russian guns in the Normandy, in under three minutes is Omaha Beach taken (it took about half an hour until they arrived at the bunkers in reality, even Medal Of Honor did this right 15 Years ago). That was the first Mission. Okay, it was okay, I didn't expect much but it got worse. The driving parts are so fast, its like playing Need For Speed. And then the tankdriving... Horrible, especialy when my little Sherman with his short 75mm gun takes out multiple Panzer 4s and a freaking Kingtiger... What a laugh! Over alll it was a really nice showcase of how freaking great the americans where and that they won the war ALONE. Well, no... for me it's just bitter how they try to tell this story. I am german and yes, my great grandfathers fought in this terrible war. I know a lot about it. The Story forgot the Brits and Canadians, even on the overview Map there where no signs of them, STUPID. The resistance part of the game was a bit new and gave a new perspective but here was also nearly everything wrong. First i thought the Voiceacting was cool, all Germans speak perfekt german and the conversations made sense but then there was this one offizier that name i forgot... He spokes very bad german with a stupid acsent... and the game lost me once again. So the unrealistic story went on and I played through.... but then there was the part i was most disappointed: The scene at the end with the KZ... Just some random buildings, two hanging copses, some corpses on the ground... nothing really shocking nd tht is the problem. If yo visit a real memorial site of a KZ and you read all the history and look at the pictures you can't sleep for days, thats how horrific it really is and this game needet to tell this story better, more shocking. But no, it looks like a random prison with some people who might have died. Seriously? The developers didn't take the time for research, everything is wrong about it. The Bunkers, the Tanks, the Soldiers, the Weapons... I've been even to france, I know how it should look like.
But CoD isn't really about the campaign, right? So what about the Multiplayer. Well... It's standart, the Wa Mode is fun but nothing really new. I wish i could wright more about it, but the last three days where just a pain in the you know where. Server problems, buggy HQ, Lootboxes disappering. Nothing really works and thats all AFTER closed and open Beta. so no... nothing to be proud of right now.
But there's a Zombiemode. And yes, it's fun, but not for so long. pretty standart, too.
Overall this game is screwed and no recomandation at all!
Battlefield 1 did so much right last year. The campaign was great, Told many storyyys and you cared about the characters. The multiplayeer WORKED and was fun, too.

I am not recommending this game to my friends.

I got it thursday night...and couldn't play it because servers were down, yay. Played some friday morning had some fun. Played saturday with my friend very sporadically because we were both continually being kicked form servers. Zombies was awesome, feels just like the best of the the old zombies. What I played of campaign was decent.

What I played of campaign was decent. Multiplayer tho...it sucks. War is great. The rest tho, is just like other reviewers say, very empty. Absolutely terrible spawns...how many times did I spawn in to immediately (seriously seconds later) be killed by the same exact person! OMG!

Its just so spastic of a game, all reflexes, no thinking. Quick-scoping!? really? Why keep that in these games!? I watched one play of the game where a sniper quick-scoped two people from 12 feet away! So stupid. Campers absolutely galore! Campers and quickscopers will love this game.

It is a much better installment of COD, BUT everything that ever annoyed me about old COD games is still present. And the servers are absolute garbage so good luck not getting errored out. I would think game companies would be better prepared for releasing games than this...why run a beta if you cant even properly release a working game? Cant they figure out how stressed their servers will be by how many freaking preorders they had?!?! obviously not...very disappointed. Theres a good chance this is the last COD I will play.

I really wanted to like this game. I will play it some more. But today was Sunday, I woke up did some chores and played games most of the day, but did not once feel inclined to play COD WW2. 2 days after having it and I already was losing interest. That sums it up for me. I would love my 60 bucks back.

"Call of duty is back to it's roots"
Um no. It's definitely not. This game is full of tiny ass maps where the ADHD children can continue to run to spawns and feel like their tiny dicks are bigger. No one in their right mind would give this game over a 5. It's got a decent campaign and zombie mode but the MP is complete and utter trash STILL.

The first thing I noticed was how HEAVILY supply drops are advertised in this game, that whole headwaters thing or whatever is the most shady thing Ive ever seen in a game. You're basically encouraging little kids to watch other people open their supply drops and get all those cool guns, encouraging those kids to ask mommy and daddy for money so that they can get them. On top of that you have the supply drop matchmaking which puts bad players against good players who have Supply drop weapons, on purpose, in order to further advertise them. If you're a parent DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR YOUR KIDS
The game takes a ridiculously long time to load , the graphics look horrible. The hit detection and lag and insanely bad too. And last but not least , speaking of insanely bad , the MAPS are the worst maps ive ever seen in call of duty. Not only is it super hard to see people in the first place, but the maps themselves have so many openings, so much stuff everywhere. It doesn't matter how you play , you can get shot from behind. I can barely hear footsteps too. There is no way to tweak the graphics to make it easier to see ppl either ,everyone is headglitching and spawn camping in what seems to be an endless labyrinth of bs. The menu is awful, I want the old create a class point system. How does a 5KD player in all other boots on the ground cods struggle to get a 1KD in this game ? How does my 50mbps up and 50 mbps down drop to 2 bars every time I meet an enemy ?
Every cod game seems to be getting worse and worse ever since Ghosts and every time they are trying harder and harder to push supply drops . Its like its not even about the game anymore, its about, what kind of shady bs we can do to sell more supply drops.
You know what Im not even mad. Thank you for the refund PlayStation ! This is the 3rd CoD game I return following Ghosts , Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare.
I swear on my mothers grave I will never buy another CoD game every again ! Not only that, I genuinely feel relieved and dont feel like id miss anything.
Let's conclude this with the fact that supply drops should be made illegal, this is literally gambling, and Im not really concerned about me, as I haven't spent a dime on that scam, I'm more concerned about the younger audience. Manipulation of young innocent children to such high extent with what should be ILLEGAL gambling like I said should be made illegal.
Every single game that has supply drops in it SUCKS, as they are nothing more than a corrupted scheme to steal people's money and CoD WW2 is the perfect example of what happens when you try to push this ever harder.
Good luck dealing with legal trouble in the future Activation , it won't be long till you start getting lawsuits and all those money which you manipulated people and pretty much near stole it from them is going to be taken away from you.

Honestly, I was extremely disappointed with this game. I played through the campaign in a short afternoon, and was surprised at how truncated it felt. A lot of cutscenes and not a lot of game play... trying too hard to shove the story of "brotherhood" down your throat. The squad system feels tacked on, and the campaign brought nothing new to the franchise.

I'm a huge fan of the CoD

Kind of reaffirmed what I thought of recent CoD games. Maybe I'll revisit if my friend tells me they have fixed the lag issues. I remember BF4 had some serious multiplayer issues on launch, so hopefully they fix this game so it's not a complete waste of $60.

A full priced game with Free-to-play lootbox elements? Rewarding players in watching others opening lootboxes??? Are you kidding me? What is this nonsense. 1/10.

I will not stand for a 'return to form' which is simply a re-skin of the same Call of Duty game we've had for years, relying solely on the outdated technical aspects from prior and the resulting lack of impact or originality. The game takes place in World War II just as many people have been wishing for, however from the moment of the game's reveal it was completely apparent that Activision were trying to capitalise on Battlefield 1's success in a desperate attempt to remain prominent within the genre.

The game is entirely lifeless and the setting feels one layer deep, as opposed to the historically accurate 'realism' of war that made the earlier Call of Duty games such a hit. If I can use any gun in any fight, regardless of historical accuracy, I might as well call in a giant Loot box to crush the opponent, that's how immersion shattering it is.

Speaking of Giant Loot boxes....Call of Duty: WWII is absolutely atrocious in it's dependence on Loot boxes to generate excessive wealth for Activision, and to exploit the consumer. Any game that dares to reward me for watching other people gamble in an attempt to convince me to do so as well will not be tolerated at all.

    To Conclude:
Call of Duty: WWII is a half-hearted attempt to cash in on the success of its rivals and restore the dwindling fanbase of the series that lacks meaningful characterization or weight both in its writing and technical aspects. The game compromises the legitimacy of its historical emulation for the sake of Loot Boxes and it shows a terrible lack of confidence or respect for both the series itself and the dedicated fans who've supported the series for years.

When I person can run around the map with just a shovel while everyone else has machine guns, and have the high score your WWII shooter has problems. This game is buggier than road kill. Snipers quick scoping in close quarters without taking time to aim, because the aim assist for snipers is ridiculous. it has the potential to be so much fun too. That's what makes playing it so frustrating.

No bull - just a straight up quality close quarters FPS with ample grime and gore for the console gamer in mind with all three Career, Multiplayer and Zombies being rich and rewarding. Feels like tons of replay value

Firstly, campaign is just mediocre. I would say that the game play is good but story is disappointing thought. Graphic is good but not as good as I was expecting. In campaign, I was expecting Russian, Japanese, Italian and many other countries that were the victim of WWII but the campaign only focus on few events between US and Germany. How could COD not include Russian and Japanese in campaign? I love COD World at War campaign and if I compare to this latest edition I would say it is below par.
Secondly, multiplayer is repetitive and I got bored after few matches. War mode is a good addition but it is not enough to make things right. There are few maps and all of them were small, poorly designed and heaven for SMGs, being a fan of bolt action rifles and M1 Garand it is frustrating.
In the end, I would like to say that it is just like an old COD games with WWII theme. No innovation nothing new in it, War mode is a copy of Battlefield 1 operation mode, Headquarter mode is a replica of Destiny 2 clan, campaign is a more or less same as Saving Private Ryan Hollywood movie. Just 5 hour campaign, it would easily extend to 10 hours by adding more content by including Russia, Japan, Italy and other main players in WWII.
I would honestly give COD WII 5 out of 10, but being a little bias and as a fan of this series; my final verdict is 6 out of 10.

This Call Of Duty is a mockery to the intelligence, it can have in some parts good graphics and few good moments that please those who do not ask much for a game. However, they spoil a very important historical fact by putting boxes of micropayments. Eliminate a moment that should be epic for putting in the face of the player his bad practice of selling items that help you, but you lose the immersive aspect. Despite having current graphics it looks as if it were for children. Then you realize that they underestimate you as a player, regardless of whether you have already played other Call Of Duty's. The campaign lasts little between 5 or 6 hours, the multiplayer seems to have put a lot of enthusiasm seems to believe that the player is conformist and easy to handle.

Sniping is essentially just everyone quick scoping. The sound design is actually fairly good but would ay I mainly noticed it on grenades and explosives. Gun sounds are better in bf1. Game play is better in bf1. Loot boxes.....I mean really? It’s fun to hop on play 3 or 4 games and then move on. Campaign is short, boring, and doesn’t seem to matter to be honest. Glad it’s back to boots on the ground but it is miles and miles and miles away from being a great game or recapturing what call of duty once was. Put simply, it’s just not very good. Expand

This is just a very very average first person shooter, that Activision releases every damn year. It is recycled, which is not a good word in the gaming industry. On top of that, microtransactions, of course.

Return to past was a great move. In this interactive feel train movie I had so many awesome moments. I am more Black ops or Modern Warfare type of a gamer, but this World War II theme was processed amazingly.

The entire franchise is desperate to add something new, but in the end always settles for focusing on the multiplayer side of the game, which the codtards always eat up.

Another MAJOR issue is that the tank controls are awful, straight up terrible. It makes for an incredibly difficult and frustrating experience when your tank turns like a slug, gets stuck on scenery and is downright bad - the controls need to be reworked. Another major issue is the hit boxes, they are bad - really really bad, more than a few times on a quick time event you can just blindly fire your gun and miss the target...but it'll still register as a hit/kill.

I would like to see COD evolve from both a weak single player experience, and a weak multiplayer arena shooter, the logical step would be an open world live war with dynamic missions, drop in/out multiplayer.

Call of Duty really let their fans down with this game. I don't like the game play, maps are way too small, small amounts of people in a game (6 Person teams), and on top of that its just not fun. I was not a fan of Call of Duty's last release of Advance Warfare but looking back even that is 100 times better than this new one. I am trying to find something positive to say about it so I will say that their cut scene are very cool and the graphics are amazing but non of that translates into the actual gameplay. The zombies can be fun and seems to be the main selling point of their game because its really the only thing people play. I would highly recommend NOT buying Call of Duty World War II. Instead, If you are looking for a strategic world war II game with big detailed maps and large amount of players in games then, I would Battlefield One. This game is the culmination of everything bad in the AAA game industry so far.

Oh, but the critics love it, don't they? Well, they would, given that most of them reviewed it at a special swanky event held by Activision, closely supervised for their impressions whilst having their every need catered for. "Gaming journalism" indeed; integrity personified. Amazing how that little tidbit of trivia isn't widely publicised eh? Pfft...

I am convinced people buy this out of habit at this point. I certainly don't buy it, but I think everyone has that one friend who still does because the series made him happy when he was a teenager or something and it's become a drug to them. They tolerate any level of pure crap the series throws at them because they scored that perfect kill 10 years ago and it made them smile.

Good for them. For the rest of us who can't casually discard our brain, CoD:WWII is a complete waste of time and epitomises every single last thing wrong with this ridiculous industry.

My main problem with this supposed next generation of maps is that they are no different than last gen, where is the dynamic settings? why cant there be a physical changes to the map randomly i.e. a battle on a sinking battleship or a war around you with buildings exploding? its just lazy and derriviative but compared to what Activision charges for season pass / map packs its just insulting!

Loot crates are obviously there, disgusting to have them opening on normandy batlefield in your "social area" and visable to all, there really isnt an "enough money earned here" is there!

Overall I feel more down on the franchise now than ever before, it needs to go away and have a high level rethink about COD's future as come next year, COD will not be a pre order or even a day one purchase for me!

I hate most of all, the fact that you get to pick what you look like going into a battle. In the last COD WW2 game, if you were on the side of the Japanese then you wore a Japanese uniform. Same goes for being on the American team, German, Russian and so on... Now, not only do you get to pick what uniform you wear, you also get to pick your gender and ethnicity.

There is nothing special about WWII that separates it from previous iterations of the COD franchise. The story is sub-par and the online play is full of quick scoping snipers, and spawn camping boost lobbies. Of course you have the pay to play loot system for those that are into wasting their money. As a player to the franchise since COD4 and playing pretty much every COD since, I have absolute confidence in saying that this game is hot garbage and if this is the direction and attitude it has chosen, then I am truly done with this series for good. I will breakdown the campaign, multiplayer and zombies and give my thoughts on them:

Campaign - This is easily one of the worst COD campaigns and maybe even worse campaigns as a whole to a game I have ever played. Maybe this is because I'm a history major and researching WW2 as a teen but this genuine trash. The narrative struggles to be either a Band of Brothers style or a over the top action film you'd see from Michael Bay, with explosions and scenes of "loud explosion following ears ringing and dude pulling you on your feet" scattered in too many times. The characters are mostly cardboard cutouts that have no real personality, depth or weight to the situation and their abilities you use in combat are more frustrating and gimmicky than satisfying. The mission variety is typical COD design: boring shooting galleries of killing scores of people with little to no reaction, QTEs and gimmicky additions like tank and plane escorts that don't bring out the full potential it should. The authenticity of WW2 is pretty much trashed; it takes place in 1944-1945, which is invalidating most of the war (in which the first three CODs and World at War did correctly), the Allied forces are largely set aside for the American v.s. Nazis clash and more as gimmicky tokenism of cultures that disrespect their service (despite the opening clearly stating over 50 countries fought and left 65 million dead), characters don't act realistic to the situation, hitmarkers, retreading the same exact structure as other CODs before it. The climax and ending was forced and tonally out of place. It's trash and deserves no love and only scorn. I don't care that people only buy it for the multiplayer; if you put something in your game you want those players to play that in their game. Case closed. 3/10

Multiplayer- Standard COD multiplayer with a WW2 skin. It wasn't like COD 2 or 3 had great multiplayers anyways, it was COD 4 that put COD on the map in the first place. The game modes are still the same, the division system is pointless as you can pick any gun you want anyways, war mode is weak on operations, the inclusion of PC friendly race and gender options instantly destroys any authenticity this game claims to have, a **** hub world copy and paste from Destiny, loot boxes that fall from the sky and promote gambling and skinner box mentality that is abhorrent and should be scorned deeply. I suppose if you play with friends there can be some fun to be had and it feels more grounded compared to the last entries, but it doesn't do anything new that is concerning and by my fifth match I was already bored and wanted to play something else. Also add connectivity issues at launch and you got a fine example of a rushed product. 4/10

Zombies- Usually my favorite mode COD ever has and in some ways is the best to date. I like some of the changes made to the design of the game, but I unfortunately couldn't help to feel that it is too easy (as a vet of zombies since 2008). The characters aren't interesting and boring; their constant breathing and gasping becomes grating and annoying after awhile. The zombies themselves lose their dark charm quickly and their voicework makes them goofier than what should be (since I thought this was going to be a far more edgier zombies). Loot boxes in this mode is pointless and extremely ****. With it being easy and being able to get to high rounds with little challenge, I honestly felt bored and wall guns are just powerful as mystery box guns, completely making it pointless to use. The most disappointing part is each past zombies game (WAW and the Black Op series) had ideas that never got here despite being worth the inclusion. The human like models of WAW, the extra maps from BO1, the passive perks you get and the bank system in BO2 and gumballs in BO3 all could have been in this game, but isnt. The single map at launch is insulting and even with friends it can only last so long before you get bored. Decent overall. 6/10

The game will have microtransactions, has a season pass and generally feels like 'another Call of Duty', no matter if it returns to its roots or not. I am sick and tired of this series, the greed behind it and the stupid masses (myself included) who buy these games anymore and pass it off as dudebro topics. I gave COD a chance and after a decade, it's time to throw in the towel for any hope for the series. COD definitely has found its roots, but to grow a big nasty parasite of a plant instead of the hopeful tree of originality and charm. 4/10 overall. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

I have played many COD titles and always at least tried to remain a loyalist. It wasn't until the N64 era that I really dug into the FPS genre with classic titles like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Call of Duty launched (many years later), and wow what a fantastic beginning to a franchise! Epic multiplayer and short yet powerful campaigns. It almost seemed like it would never stop either, every year a new COD would launch and it was a must have! Suddenly it seemed like it started to falter. It went from a perspective I understood to double jumping and running along the walls; flying through the air with jet packs.. Needless to say I wasn't much of a fan and only bought the new franchise titles when they were on sale or at a killer discount. Even then... After playing Ghosts, I realized the franchise had completely fallen into disarray and I converted my attention more into the battlefield franchise. I played Infinite Warfare with a friend and almost couldn't physically do it. Another COD failure. I should have known better. Then alas! A "boots on the ground" Call of Duty! Could this be a rebirth of a once great franchise!? Could this be another great title; reminiscent of the original Black Ops 1?? How exciting! I had to go out and get it on launch day! Nov 3rd! I had high hopes and hadn't bought a COD title in years. I dove right into multiplayer and tested every available weapon I could. It had a renewed feeling and I was excited. For 20 minutes. Then the endorphins settled and I took note to aspects of the game that became more evident. Like why do I keep playing the same 2 or 3 maps over and over? why is everyone running around with SMGs? Why is every map so small and contained? I quickly started to feel like I spent 59.99 for a few hours of enjoyment, and that afterwards, this game would sit on the shelf with the dozen or so other titles I have that rarely played in the last 6 months or so, and as I sit here typing, that is where CODWW2 sits. In the case, on my shelf, next to The Wolf Among Us. I anticipate that is where it will stay, while Battlefield 1 sits pretty in my Playstation. Mark my words, this WILL be the last COD game that I purchase, and I implore you to not make the same mistake that I did. Now I sit, eagerly awaiting the next Battlefield installment, but even if that takes years, Battlefield 1 will still satisfy me more than CODWW2 ever could. Expand

After putting a solid 20+hours into the game, around 5 in single player and 15+ in multiplayer I can honestly say "save your money", i'm quite regretting purchasing the game myself. When the game is fun, it is great (Mainly when playing with friends), however, it constantly disconnects you from your party, from games, halfway through games, when the game ends, when the game begins. Gives you loading screens that last in excess of 20 minutes. Black screens that you can not back out of, therefore making you reset the game completely. No dedicated servers. No host migration (it simply ends the game if the host leaves). Completely empty HQ thanks to **** connections, so you cant complete some of the challenges e.g. give 50 commendations to other players. The game is shipped out with the bare minimum when it comes to maps and variation, probably waiting to release more maps via season pass (as if we didn't realise Activision is money hungry already). The maps they give us are very poorly designed and thought out, because playing as a black, female Nazi in the London Docks was somehow going to make sense. In the last 2 hours of gameplay alone I have been disconnected/kicked/black screen'd at least 17 times. Party members have been thrown into random games not with the party and if that wasn't infuriating enough when we joined the game, the remaining 3 party members where split 2/1 on the teams, fantastic right?

Honestly, if you are REALLY interested in the single player campaign (which lasts maybe 5 hours) then wait for a sale and then get it, or at best lend/rent it from somewhere. This game is not worth the £49 asking price. Not by a long shot, unless they get their fingers out their ass and fix the myriad of problems it currently has.

Campaign - It's probably one of the best Call of Duty Campaigns up to date. Lots of fun, challenging depending on the difficulty, and more. However I feel like the campaign is a little short, you can complete it within 5 hours, but it doesn't matter, as long as I'm having a good time, I have nothing to complain about.

Multiplayer - Now I will agree that this is probably one of the worst launch for any Call of Duty title, however Sledgehammer is continuing to fix it and multiplayer is now playable. I don't like the fact that you lose some XP or you get the correct amount, I hope they fix that sometime soon. Besides all that, boots on the ground made MP better than the last few CoDs. People are saying that "It's a reskin from the past few CoDs" or "They just copied WAW or BF1", now I will have to highly disagree with this statement, didn't everyone want Boots on the Ground Call of Duty back? Why are they complaining now, by the end of the day they just end up playing it no matter what. MP playing with friends or by yourself is still fun.

Zombies - This mode has been in the last few CoDs, starting with WAW, BO1, BO2, AW, BO3, IW, and now WW2. Now this zombies mode doesn't beat Treyach Zombies, theirs will always be my favorite out of all of the CoDs. However zombies is still fun, especially with friends. Sledgehammer did a good job with the map (The Final Reich), zombies can come out of no where and they actually look terrifying, yet they can even scare you at times. I wish there were more maps to play on but I guess we will just have to wait for more DLC.

Micro Transactions - Micro-transactions has been in almost every multiplayer game, Overwatch, Rainbow 6 Siege, Battlefront 2, and more. It's not surprising that Call of Duty: WW2 has micro-transactions, however I see no point of complaining about micro-transactions and here's why. You don't need it. They're just cosmetics for you to wear or use on your guns, and you don't need DLC weapons to be good in a game. To be good in a game, you must be skillful, yes I understand that some CoD players might just sit in corners just to wait for you but here's a solution, throw a grenade to get them out of there. even if they have a DLC weapon or not, they will lose most likely. It's not like Star Wars Battlefront 2 where you get a hero and you become more powerful. Plus people feel the need to get it and the only way to get it is to buy it.... well here's where they're wrong, you don't need to buy items in a game to be good, most likely Sledgehammer is gonna make it so you can spend your Armory Credits on collections to get a DLC weapon and they're not that hard to get. You can complete contracts that will grant you a free supply drop or armory credits or you can be lucky and get a free Rare Supply Drop by the end of the game. So stop complaining, you don't NEED to buy them.

    Issues -
Maps are tiny (Not that bad though)
Some guns are weak (like the Shotguns or some SMGs)
Not enough maps (Only about 9 playable maps, 3 War Maps)
    XP not working correctly
Disconnected by the end of the game
Party not working correctly (Sometimes it will kick you out or you will see a black screen until the next game starts)

Other than that I gave CoD WW2 a 8/10, not a great launch but it is a great game, boot on the ground is back, fun game, I would give it a try.

Game is trying to make sense of comradory and make you care about characters but problem is that there is nothing special about them to start care. Sometimes you think that game will give you something interesting but after a while you are dissapointed. There is no vilian and story is not cohesive. It feels more like episodes from B1. If I would replace characters in each mission I would not miss anything. QTE is very dissatisfied, even tho you can make them cool (Heavy Rain). There is some new things in the gameplay like you can ask for particular things from your team members. There is some action scenes too, probably the best one is train chase. But these scenes are not impressive because we saw it before. Other games are caught up with crazy action. Lets say few years ago in modern warfare times I would say yes only COD developers can make action as crazy as here.
    I loved France Liberation section.
THE WORST THING in the game is story. At the announcement event of this game Activision was saying about how personal and important this game to them because they care about history of WW2. Well, that was a joke probably. Whole game is representing how you should not make story about WW2. There is some playing with history but in general is so bad. And I am not expecting everything smart from a Call Of Duty game. But why would deveopers lie about how they care about history..... oh yeah it is marketing.

Overall, I partly enjoyed this game. Call Of Duty did returned to the throne of FPS games. It is maybe even step back compare to IW in terms of campaign.

However, this is the part where I say do not waste your money. The reason is because the game is broken. Headquarters is broke. When you get into a game with your friends you are guaranteed for one or more of you to be kicked or lose connection to host after every game. There is a glitch in one of the trophies for doing daily challenges. Sledgehammer has had ample of time to fix the bugs and still have not. They had a Beta and never thought to put the HQs in it and wow now its broke.

The campaign is quite good, quite lengthy as well. Better than Infinite Borefare and BO3's overly complicated plot. It's just a slimmed down, grounded war experience, and that I like. The multiplayer is mostly a very samey Call of Duty multiplayer experience that we have gotten since Modern Warfare, aside from the great new War mode, which is a fantastic addition. But it unfortunately doesn't quite save the multiplayer mode. Zombies. Sledgehammer's last crack at Zombies in AW only proved that only Treyarch could nail it correctly, so I was hoping they could save face here. I like how the mode feels like it's own beast and not a clone of BO3 zombies. The tone is very serious and mature, and that ascends the overly humorous tone of IW's zombies, which is great too. The gunplay itself is quite good, and I liked how the team opted for a proper campaign with horde sections, rather than repeating Treyarch's zombies mode. To be honest, the zombies is probably the best part of World War II. This game is definitely better than Destiny 2, and takes some strong strides in the right direction, but It doesn't earn a purchase at full price. I wouldn't get it for more than 15$. Expand

Playing this game after a long break from the series, it still feels very much the same as when I stopped playing the series. The changes in multiplayer feel very minor, as the experience felt about the same to me as it has always been. The only changes to multiplayer that I really noticed is that there's a hub area in multiplayer that you're in before going into a match and that transitioning to new matches feels a lot more seamless than it used to. However, the changes that were made are probably feel a lot more important to a hardcore call of duty fan than it was to me. The zombies mode in the game is very fun to play with friends. I didn't play too much of it, but the time I had with it was fun and I was surprised that they actually made a campaign out of it. The strongest part of Call of Duty WW2 to me was the main campaign. It feels like the Call of Duty campaigns fly under the radar, which I've always felt is unfortunate. Strange as it may sound, I think that the Call of Duty campaigns can be compared to the Marvel films. They feel like pretty standard cookie cutter stories that always play it pretty safe, but the experience is usually a good time and has characters you can feel attached to. Call of Duty WW2 uses this format as well, and it's probably one of the best campaigns in the entire series. It gives off a Saving Private Ryan kind of vibe, and includes many characters that you actually become attached to and care about what happens to them. The main protagonist Robert "Red" Daniels is one of the more interesting characters, who has a good backstory and his chemistry with the rest of the cast helps make the story remain engaging. Overall, Call of Duty WW2 feels like the same Call of Duty that we've always known it to be. The multiplayer feels the same as it did when I played it many years ago, as does almost every other area. If you are a Call of Duty fan who plays the game every year, you won't need my recommendation because Call of Duty fans will buy the game no matter what. As for other outsiders to the series like myself, I'd recommend either renting the game or waiting for the price to drop just to play the campaign or zombie mode, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. Trash maps that are very few with many guns missing that I'm sure will be released over time through dlc/micro transaction horse **** and butt ****ery...

Here's the funniest thing of all... Apparently the ps4 version is working better than the xbox one version. The xbox one version was unplayable for the first few days of launch for most xbox one folk... At least the online multiplayer part. So why is the ps4 version getting a slightly lower metacritic critic score by the critics???? Lol whatever... Maybe it's got something to do with that over priced and pretty much useless for gamers console known as the xbox one x? Who knows who cares...

There are other problems but I don't care to remember them right now. I'm just caring enough to do this review for laughs and for the good of gaming. DON'T buy jokes of a game like this one. They exist to rob you blind and leave you with nothing but frustration. You people should honestly know this by now. I mean for ****s sake... It's cod... It's crap division... It's supposed to suck lol.

Decent visuals though... Lets not let this review be all negativity... Gotta give credit where it's due I suppose... Just to be fair and nice : )

Even without many of the problems I listed though... It's still just trashy cod at the end of the day so I would still give it a low score lolz.

This is a genuinely objective review: CoD WWII is really quite good.

The last CoD I played was Black Ops 3, and I thought that iteration was acceptable. The last truly great Call of Duty I've played was Modern Warfare 3. After half a decade of the wallrunning, exosuit-toting madness, I was really not holding out hope for WWII to be anything other than a bland money grab. Of course,

Of course, being a giant moron, I pre-ordered it at 11:45 on the night of launch rather than go for broke on Wolfenstein 2. I spent the 15 minutes before actual launch wondering who had drugged my dinner to make me do such a thing. And then I played it.

Barring the launch night issues connecting to multiplayer servers, the game is a beautiful and sincere addition to the franchise. The campaign is, in its purest essence, Saving Private Ryan without the Private Ryan. It even opens with the landing at Normandy, and from there blossoms into a not so imaginative, but hellishly fun shooter. I'm on the third or fourth level at this point, and I'm eager to play the rest: It sounds amazing (Sledghammer took notes from the original Star Wars: Battlefront reboot) and it looks just as great. The audio and visuals have never been better in CoD. Character design is pretty standard for the FPS genre, but the connection and relationships between characters is still suitable to make the campaign enjoyable, rather than a chore.

Multiplayer is quite refreshing in that it gets straight back to what once made Call of Duty the must-own in FPS land: Raw, skill-based arcade shooting, with a delicious array of weapon attachments, cosmetic upgrades, and skill perks to unlock which revolve around a new and intriguing "Division" system. This isn't in line with the usual CoD title, where ten or so custom classes are yours to outfit. Instead, it gives you that option with the ability to truly maximize a given class's skillset: If you play as the "Mountainous" (Sniper) Division, you will see added rewards for keeping your sniper equipped rather than toting an SMG in your ghillie suit. The Divisional loadouts give reason to diversify your classes, rather than set up five different iterations of the same OP rifle or other that typically plague CoD installments. How many of us used anything other than an ACR combo in the old days? Now, you're incentivized to branch out with your custom classes in order to maximize your killing potential. Lastly, the new War mode is really compelling: It can be difficult at times given some spawn and location advantages for defenders/attackers depending on map, but a really neat mode that I look forward to them expanding upon. New maps and variants should make War a great staple mode, particularly for those who like campaigns and don't traditionally favor online multiplayer.

Zombies, too, has met a drastic and much-needed upgrade. BLOPS3 zombies at launch, frankly, sucked. It was too hard to progress, too unclear in its rules, and ultimately if you didn't matchmake with someone who knew what they were doing, it was far too difficult to last beyond the initial waves, no matter how fun Jeff Goldblum is to play with. With a refreshing return to actual zombies and shambling mutants that are - above all else - enjoyable to kill and fight, I was really pleased with the experience. So far I've gotten a few 1.5-2 hour long runs under my belt, although I have yet to meet the "big boss" I've heard about waiting at the finish. That dang zeppelin gets me every time. From the ground up, the zombies mode is creepier and more intricate in its campaign mission and overall tone: It feels more cohesive than any mode before, including my beloved Tranzit from the BLOPS2 days. Guns feel good in zombies mode, and everything but the starting pistol packs enough punch to at least feel useful in some scenario or other. The added quest markers and objective notes make it that much more user-friendly to get to the bottom of the campaign and make tangible progress, which is both friendly to noobs and dismissable entirely for those who want to try their hand at exploring with no direction. The lore is at least suitably engaging, and on the whole it's a treat to play, with friends or online.

    The ultimate bads:

Campaign: Derivative: doesn't do much that's new for WWII, but brings a nice exposure to the conflict to a younger audience that doesn't remember Finest Hour or Medal of Honor the way I do. Characters are well-worn tropes that could use some inspiration.

Multiplayer: not very friendly to newbies. At this point, if you're not well-versed in CoD and FPS shooters generally, you're going to get killed a lot and that's going to really frustrate you. But the modes are just diverse enough to stay interesting. Guns are fun to use and sound great, but really there are only a handful that you see time and time again. The community knows the STG-44 is it.

    Zombies: Needs a non-campaign mode.

    Verdict: Dang good. 8/10.

Whole lot of little children who shouldn't be allowed on the internet let alone rating things with their undeveloped immature minds thinking their pointless opinion means anything. In fairness, the game maps are incredible although I wanted at least 2-3 more. The graphics are amazing. The story is pretty fun so far although not my favorite of the 3 modes. Zombies is actually gorey and dark finally with some amazing multiplayer fun to be had. But most of all the multiplayer is amazing. The servers had their ups and downs at launch so little 9 year old billy finds the need to lose his Hi C over it. but even with unstable servers so far the HQ is amazing, the camos aren't tasteless, it actually has better multiplayer achievements and gives you a sense of reward for good matches. Random supply drops ect... it needs more with updates added. More camos, more outfits and more calling cards. But all and all the game is legendary. Enjoy. :)

Just keeping the review short and sweet.
P.S. don't listen to the positive reviews they're just having you on trust me!
Graphically the game isn't anything special, for a triple A title that had 3 years to work on the game they really dropped the ball big time on this! Gameplay wise, it's your usual COD minus wall running, boost jumping which isn't a bad thing when the game actually

Gameplay wise, it's your usual COD minus wall running, boost jumping which isn't a bad thing when the game actually works, yes, that's right the game runs like total crap!
The game suffers from so many wtf moments of how did I die, why does my gun seem like its doing less damage than his and this isn't just me saying this I've seen big Youtuber/Twitch players say the exact same thing!
The lack of proper servers and the problematic lag compensator really screw this game up couple all of that with the fact the game matches people from across the world to play in lobbies, seriously how is that even happening!!

Authenticity next, do they deliver? HELL NO they don't! Guns have terrible fake animations, it's just incredibly lazy, for an example when you shoot one bullet from the KAR98k and you go to reload instead of putting a single bullet in the character puts an entire stripper clip into the gun and they even put an entire stripper clip into the gun when you only have 1 bullet left in reserve, it's just absolutely laughable!
Guns have no recoil they all shoot like damn lasers, snipers are just a one-hit kill from any range which just makes them the total unskilled weapon of many peoples choice.

    Then zombies... oh my god!!
Making something easier isn't making it better, the zombies are basically invisible, yes they run faster, but it's so damn easy to avoid them you can run through them essentially and the map complexity is nil, void, there is no complexity or teamwork required so props to Sledgehammer on that *slow clap*...

Finally, the story, it's a good war experience it displays some epic moments, nice change up of gameplay requiring health packs instead of regenerating health, but the story is far too short and lacks the same storytelling level that Treyarch brought to such a high standard.

Overall, It's maybe not as low as I scored it, but the game is such a huge let down that I had to score it this way, so much for a short and sweet review.

DO NOT BUY! I lost $65 on this horrid pile of trash, so inaccurate in it's portrayal of world war II it makes inglorious basterds look like real history. The multi player is pointless garbage, it's idiotic.
Trash-hammer games have managed to make "boots on the ground in world war II" feel like some bizarre alternate reality where black females are fighting for the Nazis and shovel's rule

Will be trading my copy in to deny the filth known as activision a sale.

I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]

A solid return to its roots, Call of Duty WWII reminds us what made us all fall in love Call of Duty in the first place. It ticks all the boxes which is both a blessing and a curse. Good fun and worth your time but offers nothing exceptional.

Revitalised and exemplary FPS gaming. Multiplayer trims back to the essentials, campaign shows sensitivity and Zombies...well it's a new excuse to play CoD Zombies. [Christmas 2017, p.77]
