    First of all, I am a big fan of the franchise. However, the story of this CoD was boring and uninspired. The gameplay is heavily scripted and no fun at all. There are not too many different weapons to use. Although you don't bear to much of responsibility in your Squad (that does basically everything and you are just following them), there are plenty of opportunities to die.     Average Single Player, awful Multiplayer.

    Map design is extremely poor and encourages camping over movement and flow. Fundamentally, the Call of Duty formula is outdated and unappealing.

    Multiplayer is broken. The respawn system is awful and will constantly spawn you right on top of killstreaks or right in front of enemy players. Map design is extremely poor, especially Piccadilly. Worst multiplayer FPS out right now.

    This game’s story-mode is insulting: not only it’s short, unimaginative and really repetitive, (the only exception is the kid’s mission which I kinda appreciated) but it’s also insulting in the real sense of the word: KEEP YOUR GODDAMN POLITICS OUT OF VIDEOGAMES.     Game is unplayable without 30Gb instal AND A 61 ****ing GB PATCH. Absolutely trash as usual, Activision. Luckily it was just a bonus rental at redbox and didn't cost me anything.

Campaign tries to have too many main bad guys, so you don't really care about any of them as a result. Finished it in 1 sitting, so not very long. Multiplayer has by far the worst maps I've ever played in making it extremely easy to camp in. Completely eliminated running and gunning in favor of a much slower and much more boring play style. Footsteps are way too loud making it furthermore impossible to run and gun.… Expand

    I enjoy the gun play in the game, but beyond that it's almost pure unfiltered octopus diarrhea. haven't played the campaign yet, but if they could just fix the spawns and latency, it would be a lot more fun to play

    The campaign in this game is fantastic I love the characters and the story that is game provides there are some missions that annoy me but that's about it

    The multiplayer on the other hand is a disappointment...     When in reality what it really does it encourages players to camp which is not a good thing because of this using "Safe spaces" it causes a lot a frustrating and irritating situations..

    * like Players hiding in a corners and certain areas of the map
    * sticking a Claymore or a Bouncing Betty behind a door

    The gameplay mechanics don't exactly help..

    * Dead Silence is no longer a perk which means you can't sneak around the map as effectively considering that it's now a "field upgrade" on a time limit

    *there is No Perk,Killstreak or field upgrade which gives you extra health considering this game gives you a field upgrade for "extra damage"

    But I do like the "gun smith" feature having the ability to change weapon attachments around to create a variety of setups for your weapon is kind of addicting once you unlock the parts for it

    I just wish everything else was fixed up

    And now ever since "Warzone" has dropped I wouldn't recommend buying this game considering "Warzone" is free

    But if you really want a game where you can camp sit in a corner for enemies to come to you I would wait for a discount around say $30 at best

    Unless the developers do something to make multiplayer great again and I'm not talking about new maps,weapons and modes

    If they can make warzone as amazing then they can definitely do something to improve the multiplayer

    But for now I would avoid this game    … Expand

    First of all, the total amount coming in at around $100 for a game are you serious, then you have to download 160 something gigabytes of data THEN have to install another 60 gigabytes to even play, where did that 160 gigabytes go that took 10 hours?, ridiculous on size and price

    Probably the worst game ever made. Just playing the campaign requires you to download like 200 gigs of random data packs that don't work half the time, and when you FINALLY get it working the campaign crashes every cutscene and bricks your system. How this game was even released is beyond me.

    The servers are **** The launcher (battle.net) is even more ****tier. The game is now full of hackers in both multiplayer and warzone. You will find a hacker now in literally every match and they are not even hiding it. They are literally shooting you from across the map through several walls.     I thought playing this game would be great before MW2 comes out. But guess what happened? I couldn't even play the game. Because It says installation suspended even though I downloaded all the packages and apparently they didn't even bother the fix this for months even though it is a known issue. So basically I bought myself a Call of Duty launch screen for all that money.

    The game feels fundamentally broken. While I have 13 days played and feel like it has a lot of potential... Ultimately I feel punished for being a skilled player with their match making system, when coupled with lag issues 50% of the time games are unplayable..... Overall it feels broken and the more I play the more tedious it becomes.... I haven't experienced this before with any other COD

    An actual honest review on Modern Warfare in 2020. (4/4/20):

    QUICK DISCLAIMER: This a fair review of the game and I will not just beat the dead horse with the Russian controversy. Also I will not be reviewing the BR because of how new it actually is and that I cannot gauge an opinion on it. Campaign firstly: Ignoring all the gray zone controversies the campaign is a much needed    An actual honest review on Modern Warfare in 2020. (4/4/20):

    QUICK DISCLAIMER: This a fair review of the game and I will not just beat the dead horse with the Russian controversy. Also I will not be reviewing the BR because of how new it actually is and that I cannot gauge an opinion on it.

    Campaign firstly: Ignoring all the gray zone controversies the campaign is a much needed step-up from the likes of WW2 or Black Ops 3 but yet still fails to deliver in some aspects.

    Pros:
    - Hyper Realistic as promised except for the minor nitpick details (such as the occasional gun glitch or even the aiming at your teammates which was sadly pointed out) but overall a down to earth in your face experience for war
    - The characters are VERY memorable such as the likes of Alex or Farah
    - The effects, scripts, and placeholder elements are up to standard of the like of the best games on the market

    Cons:
    - The horrible plot holes and connections to real events are terrifyingly bad. It's like IW wanted to be bold and pull a Modern Warfare 2 with the turncoat Americans but for some reason went the same route of "Russians" as being the enemy effectively dividing the player base in half about the campaign.
    - It was such a narrow campaign and gave the player a lack choice that would impact the game. This isn't new to cod as Black ops 2 had done this in a way to make it one of the most impact campaigns for players and myself alike. This was also a soft reboot so this could have been done theoretically. Because this wasn't done it doesn't give the players moral choices that will impact the story in some way.

    Overall the Campaign is a solid 7/10

    Next the Spec Ops

    Pros:
    - It brings back survival and does it to a standard of which is on par with the previous iteration MW3.

    Cons:
    - The missions are an absolute trash heap of recycled content garbage from campaign missions and show little to no difference to the actual campaign
    - The content on launch was such a disgrace that I thought it was highway robbery to sell this game for $60. This will later become a common theme throughout.
    - AI is bugged in some missions??? Not sure if this is just based off of my game but the AI would sometimes completely bug out and forget how to do the smallest tasks such as open doors or even would sometimes walk into walls.

    Spec Ops for me gets a disastrous 2/10

    And now the multiplayer.... Jesus Christ the multiplayer

    Pros:
    - The Guns have a ton customization and you can try and make new variants for hours on end
    - Classes now have a non-pick 10 system which everyone is probably very happy with
    - The Sounds of the guns are absolutely outstanding!
    - The looks of the environment of maps are great following closely to real life due to scan imaging.
    - The UI for the Multiplayer and selecting gamemodes are a treat

    Cons:
    - The Maps are awful or at least the base maps created by IW. Even some remakes like Crash and Vacant seem very butchered by horrible map decisions such as doors in unnecessary places and the obvious placement of safe spaces for players
    - Spawns seem to be pretty terrible and I'd argue worse than in Black ops 4. It seems random and most of the time you seem to spawn in front or behind an enemy or the other case is being put so far away from the action (this is especially prevalent on 10 vs 10 maps) that you don't really even want to play the game anymore.
    - The class system favors camping instead of a balanced system. I find myself constantly calling this "crossing the street simulator" because of how unrewarding it is to the run and gun play style
    - The gunfights themselves seem stupidly clunky and it seems like there's always this one overpowered gun someone uses. It's so bad to the point to where it doesn't even matter who the first person is to shoot it's anyone's game now and it would usually be the person with the more overpowered weapon. I know it was like this in MW2 but the difference was that the weapons used in that game were all overpowered and usable.
    - Bugs that were rather displeasing to say the least such as invisible props or even broken player models

    My final rating for the multiplayer is a 4/10

Игра половину дня может вести себя стабильно, затем два дня подряд вылетать из каждого матча. При том, что это происходит не только с бесплатной беттой warzone, но и с полноценной вышедшей игрой. Не помогает ничего, обновление драйверов, переустановка клиента игры, проверки целостности, безопасные режимы, смена настроек игры, даже переустановка операционной системы. Мы играем с друзьями и стабильно у одного или двух из нас, всегда начинается такая проблема... Просто начинает вылетать, играть не возможно, реализовать из за этого - оплаченный боевой пропуск - невозможно. Не говоря уж о том сколько матчей этими вылетами мы загубили рандомным тиммейтам, веть возврат в матч не предусмотрен. В техподдержке игры на официальном сайте, тебя автоматически кидают на страничку с решениями проблемы в духе: обновите драйвера. С подписью "вылетает? ничем не можем вам помочь."

What they actually got: glitches, crashes and evil Russians in a criminally short campaign that doesn't even form a cohesive story. What they actually got: glitches, crashes and evil Russians in a criminally short campaign that doesn't even form a cohesive story. Multiplayer is painful thanks to skill based matchmaking and the devs constantly lying their product. They claimed there would be no skill based matchmaking in Warzone, however players on YouTube have shown with their data that there is no doubt SBMM is in everything. Regardless of your opinion on SBMM, nobody should tolerate being sold a false bill of goods. SBMM is inferior to connection based simply by not providing you with the best connection possible. No further analysis needed. Nobody wants to be playing competitively in 2020 with 60/70+ ms ping. Games from 10+ years ago provided a smoother online experience. The final nail in the coffin for this title is the PC cheaters in Warzone. There appears to literally be no anti cheat in the game. Console players are disabling crossplay, defeating the entire purpose of it existing, and nobody can blame them. This MW should have be been a title for the ages but we were met with straight up lies about the game and a sub par experience.

    FYI Activision has a patent for MTX based matchmaking, that is to say, players who spend money in the game store will be rewarded by being placed in matches with players far below their own skill level. Players who do not pay this literal bribe to have "fun" are punished and used as fodder for the players who do spend money.

    In summary the game has no anti cheat, possible MTX based matchmaking, definite SBMM, mediocre at best story, glitches aplenty, and still has the nerve to harass you with buying gimmicky junk from the store with glorified pop-ups from the 90s on a full price AAA title.

    If players tolerate this behavior, they will have no one to blame besides themselves for future titles. We need to stop submitting to this and start voicing our opinions with our wallets by refusing to pay for this junk.

    This game exists for the sole purpose of squeezing as much money out of gullible players who throw money at shiny cosmetics and swindling players with lies about the games mechanics.    … Expand

    The single player campaign had a fairly interesting story mode. Graphics are amazing. They once again (in my opinion) regressed in the multiplayer. I view Call of Duty as a multiplayer games. Since that's why I buy them. So, that's why my score is so low. Campaign couldn't save it.

On PS4 I’ve spent a whole day trying to just install it and errors upon errors whereas I have amazing internet connection and no issues like this with any other game. Fortunately I was able to download the campaign. I didn’t want to try installing multiplayer because last timeI didn’t play the game and gave it a 0. That’s right because you CANNOT play the game. It’s physically impossible. On PS4 I’ve spent a whole day trying to just install it and errors upon errors whereas I have amazing internet connection and no issues like this with any other game. Fortunately I was able to download the campaign. No dialogue audio AT ALL. except some very very low sound in some parts of a dialogue line. It’s literally unplayable that way. I wanted the game to be a fun experience and not hearing Gaz or Captain Price speak doesn’t make it fun in any way. I searched and searched for a way to fix this but no solutions for PS4 users. Разработчики будто сами смеются над фабулой, помещая на экран загрузки высказывания великих людей о войне вперемешку с дурацкими фразами персонажей игры.

Во-первых, она, несмотря на красоту графики, не зрелищна: в оригинальной трилогии Modern Warfare мы от первого лица наблюдали собственную казнь от руки диктатора, присутствовали в эпицентре ядерного взрыва, испытывали разгерметизацию на борту космической станции... Здесь же запомнилась разве что миссия за детей в осажденном ближневосточном городе и спасение заложника посредством координирования с помощью телефона и камер наблюдения. О том, что приближается развязка, я узнал только по тихо звучащей на фоне музыке - другими средствами никакого особенного пафоса под конец не нагнеталось.

    Absolutely horrible online! The new story is cool and has some great new mechanics, however what started as a nice "season 0" quickly developed into a terrible excuse for an online shooter. They spent way too much time adding purchasable crap, instead of improving core elements like matchmaking and spawning. Not to even mention it's taking up 250GB on my hard-drive for no reason!

    The campain is cool, graphics feelings of the guns, There are a lot of positive things about this game but infinity ward has just been banning innocent players left and right, guns are always the same, no meta changes, and the support is literally non existant.

    This game has so much potential but it is sadly super wasted..

    A very fun game marred by hideously large updates, broken updates and a greedy publisher that does not care about the quality of its game but instead adding more features/feature creep when the foundation is not stable.

    Its call of duty. It plays like every other call of duty game though the slight mechanical and engine changes are a nice touch to making the game feel slightly fresher. Rather than reiterating what cod is about here are some of the key points that are relevant to both the ps4 and pc version (But predominantly the pc). In addition I'll only be referring to multiplayer and warzone since despite having played hundreds of hours of this game I haven't touched the campaign yet.

    Pro's:
    - Rock solid framerate
    - Generally nice graphics (generally is key with weird ass ailiasing and the general shade of brown)
    - Satisfying gun play
    - Dope sound design with excellent telegraphing and punchy gunshots
    - A genuinely fun battle royale mode which is free to play with plenty of opportunities to jump back into the game rather than having to sit by idly (gulag is obviously a meme but it does make the game better)

    Cons:
    - Crashes a lot
    - Updates are broken. It is 19:15, I have been downloading the update since 12:30 and I still have 51.72gb to go. This is an unacceptable issue as its practically occured with every season update.
    - Unreasonable update sizes. Season 5 is 54gb for pc and 36gb for ps4. My friend who plays on ps4 has had to delete everything else off of her system just to play call of duty which is ridiculous.
    -If you don't buy into battle passes then your sense of reward for playing the game will diminish pretty fast.
    - Bugged challenges/objectives. i have attempted to progress a warzone intel challenge 18 times now yet the game doesn't even register that I've done it.
    - I WILL REITERATE AGAIN. SO MANY BUGS. UPDATES THE SIZE OF STANDALONE AAA GAMES, UPDATES YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD AND SO MANY CRASHES.

    I genuinely love playing this game and I say that as a person who despises activisions unethical activities as a company. But it's so marred by problems that make the experience not only unfun but insulting.

    Get your thumb out your rear activision and give your devs time to fix the fundemental problems of the game. Though that doesn't give you another giant pile of cash so you'd rather have them spewing out season passes instead.    … Expand

Or any of the futuristic looking jetpack wearing, running on walls, exosuit wearing games. So when I first heard the modern warfare franchise was coming back, I was beyond ecstatic...but then I played the game. There where so many bugs with it (that eventually got patched), but you can’t really expect anything else from a new game. Then month after month I witnessed the game getting worse and worse after each update. Now, almost 10 months in, the game is completely and utterly unplayable. Jump into a hardcore game and you get more hitmarkers than in warzone or Battlefield or even in Apex. And that’s the best part of the game that’s the f’ed up part. There are several instances where your shoot at somebody and the bullets just doesn’t connect even though when you record it or watch the killcam, you can see the bullets go through the enemy and hit the wall behind them. The ADS speed on pistols are RIDICULOUS. You can basically sprint and go into full on ADS, shoot, kill the guy, and back into tactical sprint within 0.000000001 second. And they can compete with snipers on long range as well as ARs and SMGs in mid range fights. Therefore the 1 % that is actually moving in this game are running around with pistols and there are no way to counter them 1v1. The maps are horrible and have been requested by the majority to be fixed, same with sounds and camping, but IW refuse to make the game playable. All in effort to cater to bad players. Which is where SBMM comes in to play. The way they solved SBMM is the second worst idea ever by developers. Right behind how they created Modern warfare 2019. It’s currently season 5 and for each patch, the game just gets worse and worse. I’ve gone back to older games just to make sure it wasn’t just my aim and tactics that had gotten worse, but when I constantly go WAY positive on older games where the game is balanced and have a good accuracy during more or less every game....then it’s not on me anymore. Then it’s just the game that needs to be fixed. If you still haven’t bought the game, but are considering buying it... go eat tide pods or something, because that’s way more fun than playing this game. It’s not meant for players to get better, rather it’s meant for people to sit still and remain trash and toxic. Would not recommend even to my worst enemy… Expand

    The game play is absolutely shocking! Spawn killing is a major factor in this game! I play hardcore and unloading a clip into someone and still not die is almost guaranteed at least 10 times a game. There is no gunlow perk which is strange for a cod game. The maps are ok, but there is no lobby

    2. Multiplayer. Even though i could handle that nazi stuff in SP, i can't do same in MP. Is it Warface? Or Battlefield? Battleface? Warfield? It's a 155 GB clone of these 2 games. There is nothing of CoD left in there. Literally nothing. You can't see enemies as easily as before 'cause they look like textures. You can't kill them 'cause there is no stopping effect on hit. Now it's not action game that i like - where all you need is aim and reactions - now it's some crappy camping stuff. 'Cause you can't just rush everywhere due to campers those you can't spot.
    They f*cked up hardcore mode. No kill logs. No killstreaks alerts. Nothing. Do they think that people played HC 'cause they want it to be more realistic? No. We've played HC 'cause it makes game even faster with all those 1-shots.
    3. Dev error 6098, 6095 and etc. If you don't know what's it - you're lucky. 'Cause i and lots of people spent like 2-3 hrs to find solution of this crash problem. AAA game. 50$ cost. And it doesn't even launch because of DX11 problem.
    4. And the most irritating thing about this - Blizzard doesn't let me to refund. I've asked about it in about 3-4 hrs of playing and they refused. And i bought full version of it since i thought it'll be awesome. Activision promised us.
    So, to conclude: this is the 1st game of whole series that i do REALLY regret that i bought it. I want my money back.
    It'd be better if i bought cond*ms for 50$ and gifted to devs.

    Not bad graphics and gameplay itself, but DICE does it better (which is not surprising). The plot is one of the dumbest in the series. It's full of cliches about EVILSUKARUSSIANS and good brave American guys, just like stupid 80s agenda movies. No "gray morality". If you want an objective view of war, play Metal Gear Solid 4. Nothing else to say.

    The level of russophobia and hypocrisy in this game is just disgusting. Even the war crime of Americans, accomplished at the "Highway of Death" in Iraq was attributed to Russians. Stop spreading the lies!!

    Everything is upside down. Call of Duty has a better solo campaign than multiplayer after many years. We will remember a perfectly scripted war with a dense atmosphere, but we’ll forget about the unbalanced online multiplayer. [Issue#298]

    After a multiplayer-centric episode, the COD fans will be delight with the return of a nervous and strong solo campaign. Modern Warfare is back with old-fashioned gameplay that is more grounded and efficient. The generous amount of content adds some depth to one of the best chapters of the saga to date. Magic!

    Overall Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a good title that is marred by the expectations that the Modern Warfare name brings with it. The campaign has some really stellar gameplay moments that are brought down by the mediocre plot. Multiplayer was fun but felt a bit like the competition’s output (despite there being no Battlefield release this year) which may be a turn off for some. I don’t think Modern Warfare 2019 has done anything to make me rethink waiting for substantial price drops to play Call of Duty campaigns, because clearly multiplayer is still Activision’s main focus and that’s just not where I get my kicks.
