    If I had to use one word to describe this game I would use disappointing. I was hoping for this game to be the redeeming game for the franchise after MW ruined it for me, but this is worse than MW. The only part of this game I actually enjoyed was zombies. I was gonna go for the dark aether camo, but then they decided to make leveling up weapons in zombies basically pointless. I will notIf I had to use one word to describe this game I would use disappointing.     Feels more like a Call of Duty rip off then a complete game. Clunky movement, bad weapon balance, horrible hit detection, and a lack of maps makes for a boring at best and horrible experience at worse. Save your money and skip this one.

    The mechanics are very different and not fluid. It doesn’t feel like a Call of Duty game, much less a Call of Duty: Black Ops game. This game just feels very uninspired and even rushed. They used to only get 2 years and they still made good games, but this is probably the worst Black Ops game to date.     worst call of duty in history, SBMM is ruining the game, and horrendous more there are two weapons (AUG - M16) which are weapons that kill you with two shots, I'm very disappointed and I'm not playing anymore because of the sbmm, I don't buy More call of duty, they're ruining it, lost 100 pounds,

It’s gun-play and balancing, are a joke, and would be an insult to good games to even call it sub-par. Shotguns are a joke, the game is riddled with bugs. It runs as if it were deliberately designed to run at 5 frames a second. In overall, the game feels like a massive step backwards for the call of duty franchise. It’s only saving graces are what may be an interesting zombies storyline and an exceptional campaign addition to the franchise, when it runs.… Expand

    Game is an utter mess, less content than ever before and has horrific levels of sbmm in multiplayer with no ranked mode. They know the Pro’s, streamers and 99% of hardcore fans want a ranked mode with sbmm and no sbmm in public matches.Yet they insist on keeping it thinking it will make them more by crushing the skill gap and it’s a joke!!!

    For a call of duty game I want to give it more than a 5 but can't. I enjoyed the campaign, really threw me for a loop. Multiplayer is on and off for me, very inconsistent it feels like. Zombies I feel has been very fun and have been playing that the most, however, if this game wants a bigger score, it has to fix its multiplayer, sbmm is an awful platform for players as people can reverse boost.

    There's nothing groundbreaking here, it's pretty much your standard Call of Duty gameplay. But it works just as it has for the past 10+ years and makes for a satisfying FPS experience

    Online/Zombies: 7/10
    i should start by saying I'm not the biggest fan of zombie game modes, but I will admit that this one was pretty fun. The multiplayer aspect shows some improvements from previous titles and is pretty entertaining as well. One gripe that I have is that there are some really sh*tty maps that get old very fast.

    Multiplayer is just trash. Horrible lag, disconnect issues, atrocious framerate, and just overall terrible.

    Campaign is decent, until you get disconnected, or your console hard resets in the middle of a mission.

    Zombies is decent, when you don't get disconnected, and the lag is here too, although not as gamebreaking as MP.
    Just too many problems for a AAAtitle. Don't waste ypur money.

Always the same shot in the back multiplayer year by year with some different abilities and weapons. It’s playerbase mostly consists of the same hypebeats that play Fortnite.     Campaign is the only saving grace and literally that is maybe an 8/10. Multiplayer is clunky, limited in maps and guns, and generally feels like we once again were scammed for $60 by a company who doesn't know how to make a game

    I gave it a 3 because the campaign,zombies and dead ops are the only "good" things about this broken mess of a game. The multiplayer is awful. Awful map design, awful gunplay, awful scorestreak system, awful colour variation, awful levelling up system, awful weapon levelling system. Basically everything about the game besides zombies and campaign is awful. The treyarch we have today and nowhere near the old treyarch in terms of making an actual fun game. I play cod to have fun, not try hard every game. What happened to games being fun?     to be honest i don't think it's bad there is a youtuber in brazil that played all the cods less than ds and wii and i don't understand this game has no filter this game has more different maps than mw and if you hit me you may know that there are map copied from bf, has campers.

    dlc's are free it's a continuation / restart it helps new players and old players to freshen up on a fuking year it makes sense dead ops is a fun game mode and they made a small map of the first zombies on a big map and that's not even 50 % there is a lot more.
    great campaign continuation pro bo1 easter eggs about activision's atari games, plottwists and choices it reminds me of bo2 so much shorter my verdict a 10 for sure    … Expand

I would honestly rather plan AW than the pile of garbage that is mp. Scorestreaks are trash and everyone is going to get a chopper gunner 10 minutes into the match. Sbmm is **** up my casual experience whileZombies and campaign are pretty good and fun to play, but zombies has a lot of bugs with it especially with easter eggs. MP is one of the worst cod experiences I've ever played though. I would honestly rather plan AW than the pile of garbage that is mp.     Such a bad game, the campaign has the worst story i've ever experienced in a video game, multiplayer will make you commit either murder or suicide (whichever happens first). Zombies is the only playable aspect of the game, but even that can't keep this game from being a zero and a total waste of money and time.

However, the deal breaker for me was how strong the SBMM (Skilled-Based-Match-Making) is. I can go 26 and 10 then get in a lobby full of tryhards who have nothing else to do but cheese their way to win. The sbmm is so strong you could go positive in one game andI'm going to ve a little harsh here with a 2 star rating. I mean yes the campaign is amazing, the zombies fun and satisfying.     Even with having above the recommended specs on PC my game still drops in FPS down to 8 FPS for like 4-5 seconds out of nowhere, EVERY MATCH. This is a horrible lazily optimized port of this game and it makes me sad to say, but I will be getting a refund and (maybe) playing when it gets fixed. Absolutely unacceptable for a $60 dollar game released in 2020. Such a cheap cash grab.

    The zombie mode is amazing, the campaign is fairly okay. The multi-player is infuriating due to this **** SBMM. CoD MW 2019 has a far supperior MP.
    Unless you wanna pay 60$ for a zombie mode, don't buy this game

    Really enjoyed the story on this one! I haven’t been a huge fan of the Black Ops but I have really had fun in multiplayer and Zombies. Overall I am happy and pleased with how the game turned out. Just have a hard time with other players using those dam sniper rifles with quick scope.

    Based on the trailers with Regan and Yuri Bezmenov I thought for sure this game would be based. But instead it's just an anti American propaganda piece. I've literally bought every single Treyarch Call of Duty because I am an avid Zombies fan. Never again.

    I was so excited for this campain too. Screw you Activition. Get woke go broke.

    Campaign was fun, but quite short. No real challenge on regular difficulty, so up it if you want to have to try a little. I’ve never gotten into zombies, but this one seems fun enough. Multiplayer is trash. Poor level design/spawns, lack of maps, you name it. I uninstalled the game, honestly. Unless there’s a major update, I’ll go play on COD:MW every day over this game.

Comenzar diciendo que después de haber jugado al cod desde el año 2003 al 2015 y haberlo abandonado por asco y cansancio,Otra gran decepción. Comenzar diciendo que después de haber jugado al cod desde el año 2003 al 2015 y haberlo abandonado por asco y cansancio, esta entrega me tenía ilusionado, ya que el primer Black Ops es una de mis entregas favoritas.
    En el apartado técnico el juego podría ser mucho mejor, por momentos parece un DLC del Mwf ralentizado y con otras skins, Animaciones regulares, (la del lanzamiento de granadas es para darle un premio o algo) interacción con los escenario prácticamente nula, problemas de rendimientos, problemas de conexión (si, sigue habiendo partidas con gente que te ve un segundo antes aunque tenga 500Mb simétricos en 2020), etc…ya ,tampoco se molestaron ni en imitar los acentos en el doblaje como en otras entregas para ambientar, solo por estos detalles se merece mala nota.
    Si entramos a valorar que es una saga con muchos años de experiencia, cosas como que entrar 12h más tarde a jugar que otras personas me supongan casi no poder jugar y morir continuamente por no tener desbloqueado alguna ventaja y estar todo el rato resaltado en el mapa, muriendo por las rachas, o la desventaja de algún accesorio de arma a estas alturas, es ridículo y frustrante a partes iguales. No me quiero imaginar la gente que está esperando por Ps5 para jugarlo si a esta gente le dejan importar su perfil la que les espera.(Hay cross play con Ps5 y si juegas en una Ps4 juega en desventaja) Pero bueno, estas cosas a muchos no les molestan, si no puedo estar 24h jugando COD en mi casa como los Pros o comprarme un Ps5 aunque quiera porque no las hay, es mi problema, claro.
    El balanceo es incomprensible ya que a mi ayer con nivel 12 me metía en muchas partidas llenas de gente de más de 30 de nivel y cosas así También me da que pensar que si hay cross play entre Ps4 y Ps5, en Ps4 será mejor ni jugar ya. Que encima pongas las rachas por puntos para dinamizar el juego, que me parece muy bien,(es mentira da mas puntos hacer racha de muertes que tomar banderas, por ejemplo) pero se sigan usando mecánicas que en vez animar a jugar en movimiento premian que la gente se quede estática, como el sonido exagerado de los pasos (literalmente parece que van a caballo) y que encima pongas un micro que los amplifica en una zona, es la guinda del pastel. En fin, no me extiendo mas que mi tiempo también vale dinero, una retahíla de cosas, que en menos de 24h, me quitaron la ilusión por jugarlo. Si a todo esto le sumamos que el viernes no, pero ayer sábado ya había gente haciendo trampas. Pues me siento muy defraudado y con la sensación de haber tirado mi dinero. Un saludo    … Expand

    I'm struggling to see what people like about the campaign. The multiplayer is universally not well received so I'll ignore that. But I bought this for the campaign. And the campaign is a poorly done 3 hour mess with "choices" that give you no meaningful change. The final mission that you do is like 5 minutes long whatever path you decide to take. Other than that, there are like 3 otherI'm struggling to see what people like about the campaign. The multiplayer is universally not well received so I'll ignore that. But I bought this for the campaign. And the campaign is a poorly done 3 hour mess with "choices" that give you no meaningful change. The final mission that you do is like 5 minutes long whatever path you decide to take. Other than that, there are like 3 other small things you decide on doing in the game that might be mentioned very briefly in the epilogue.

    It's disgusting how much critics are giving credit to this campaign. I suspect there is some shilling going on but who knows. The story is poorly done and the twist at the end isn't worth the slow burn of the campaign. No interesting characters are introduced, the setting is boring, the writing is too similar to past Black Ops games.

    I honestly can't see giving this game anything higher than a 3 out of 10. It's the worst COD game I've played in years. It brings me back to the awful campaign of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. This game falls right into that same category. A game that wastes your time, energy, and money as well.

    In my opinion? Stick with the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It does almost everything well whereas this game, fails at almost everything that game did correctly.    … Expand

    Pressing the Options button freezes the screen in zombie mode and I have had the same problem over and over again. It does not come back from there, it is necessary to turn it off and on. also when you come back you cannot join the same game

    As someone who quit playing since BO3, I am very happy with this game. For those of us that don't live in their parents basement and plays 3-12hr / day, we can now have fun being matched with those of the same skill level. Whiny tryhards complain because they have to play against other good players and can't just stomp on casual players. Don't get me started at zombies. I have tried 6 times, 6 times the easter egg.     This game is repetitive and boring and bad. They’ve used an old engine from 2015 & didn’t bother with a major upgrade to the game. Modern warfare reboot of 2019 was the real upgrade using a fresh new engine to the whole franchise. This game is a downgrade compared to the 2019 COD, worse graphics, audio & visuals, not worth it. Treyarch at this point are the worst studio making COD.

    Everything from the sounds to the graphics to the gun feel seems out of date. The maps have very little variety and are basically 2 dimensional with very little verticality. There are also too many choke points where advancing lanes can be almost completely shut down. Modes like domination can be decided at the beginning of the match. Not polished at all. I feel like I completely wasted my money.

    Multiplayer, guns are op and developers nerf the guns that are already bad instead of the guns which run the show, graphics are terrible and maps feel uninspired.
    Zombies is alright and is very forgetable and buggy.

    The singleplayer campaign is the most fun I've had in a COD game since forever. It has multiple choices and even multiple endings. They've added some "sneak style" missions to it as well.

    I've tried the multiplayer part a little bit but that, unfortunately, is just more of the same boring, repetitive FPS multiplayer crap. They should have worked on the battle royale mode from last game, giving us a soviet-inspired map and weapon system and perhaps integrated the US-Soviet conflict into it to give us something new and interesting. But nawh, its just the same old boring crap. I doubt I will even bother with it much more.

    So, in the end, your left with a very expensive, short but fairly good singleplayer campaign. Normally, that would warrant a very low score. But this is COD, and looking at it from where they have been this is indeed an improvement and I hope to see more COD where the singleplayer campaign takes the center stage. The game, once again has Russians as the villain. The game doesn't want to be innovative. Part of it is due to the toxic community. Surprisingly, the game wants to be non linear. But it feels like the game wanted to do it intentionally so as to earn good reviews about its innovations, something the og cod fans have seen in Black Ops II. A sequel of an awesome game should be innovative and iterative in order to get back the fans who loved the game in the first place. (PS. the AI is so fu*king terrible.)
    The story isn't consistent with the Black Ops trilogy (i.e., BO1, BOCW and BO2). The game wants to explore more ways to let players interact, which hasn't been explored in previous cod titles, and that's the selling point of this game. Overall, campaign is pretty kickass as on its own as a cod game, not as a Black Ops game.
    Now, the multiplayer. This game ranks one above MW 2019 in offering map variety. Eight. Eight fu*king maps!? CoD 4, a game that's 13 years old offered 17 maps. Heck, the prequel this game's based upon offer 14 maps. This is atrocious. Activision/Treyarch have done this intentionally so that they can release cut content as free map dlcs to get good pr. This is completely unacceptable. The gameplay is suited for the campaign, not for the multiplayer. Movement feels clunky and slow. Hit registration is not great. SBMM sucks. Map variety is less. The game wants to feel like BlOps2 multiplayer, but utterly fails at it. The game is yet to implement ranked playlists in its existence of 18 years.
    The Zombies can be fun, but makes Infinite Warfare's zombies a masterpiece and make it comparable to Black Ops 4's zombies. It doesn't feel like zombies. But its, meh. (BTW only 1 map)
    Overall, this game isn't worth 60$. Its atrocious of Activision to charge 70$ for a game that has a lifespan of less than a year. Not worth it. If Treyarch/Activision can use the excuse of COVID 19 for their mistakes, how come the pandemic hasn't stopped them charging players 70$ to play the game?
    This game is one of the worst optimized cod games. The size is ridiculous for the content it offers. Has Treyarch forgotten about compression. It wouldn't be fair as they barely have time to optimize this game as this is an annual release.
    The PS-Activision deal is total dogsh*t. Exclusive zombies mode, extra loadout slots and multipliers on XP on a single platform for one year for a game that barely survives a year of release. Great!

    Graphics are terrible and animation is even worse, feels like 10 years ago. Gameplay sucks, this is just unfinished garbage. Last time I throw away money on this series, a shame.

    Skillbased matchmaking ruins the entire game. It has a good foundation, but it continues the path that MW took: lower the skill gap as much as possible, so that the worst player ever will still have a 1.0 K/D and pump the money into Activision's bank account. SBMM and the low skill gap are the reason that this game is absolutely unbearable.

No being shot in the ass by someone that doesn’t move the entire round is great.     Practically unplayable. Couldn't even finish the campaign because it was so broken it hard locked my entire console....three...times. This isn't simply unpolished it's F'ING RAW!!!!!!

    The multiplayer, warzone, and even zombies don't really interest me and I have no desire to try them after dealing with this uncooked slop Activision has the gall to charge full price for.

    I would just like to preface this review by stating that I have sunk well over 55+ hours into this game and have prestiged twice (as opposed to just jumping on the bandwagon and bombarding it with hyperbolic, outlandish negative reviews.)

    Graphics: Looks absolutely superb on my PC with the High Resolution textures, genuinely the best looking Call Of Duty i've ever seen.     Campaign: As someone who has been a massive fan of Call Of Duty campaigns since i picked up CoD4 as a teenager, Cold War delivers an amazing, thrilling, encapsulating & deep plot, the story is a massive return to form and left me feeling tense and nervous at points, the returning cast are great, the new additions to the Universe are well developed and fleshed out, the fact that they bring back the branching narratives in the campaign which hasnt really been done since Black Ops 2 is a great addition and really adds to the replayability.

    If i was to give it a rating it would be a solid 9/10, Raven Software did an amazing job working on the campaign this year and it would be amazing to see what Raven could do with their own Development Cycle as opposed to SHG.

    Multiplayer: Lets start with the positives, the gunplay is really smooth and the unique recoil patterns make it a challenge to get good which each individual weapon as opposed to each weapon playing pretty much the same, each gun feels unique and have a personality when inspecting or using them.
    The maps for the most part are visually gorgeous, whether it be the snowy tundra of Crossroads Strike, the Sand Dunes of Satellite or the Neon Nightlife of Miami they all look superb.

    However, that's all i can give it for the positives.

    The unbalanced weapons make this incredibly difficult to go even most games, whether or not that be the AUG / M16 1 Bursting you from across the map with seemingly no recoil or that be the guy that's hiding in a chokepoint headglitching with a sniper and several proximity mines / C4 making your life a living hell due to the broken spawning system, or if its the Skill Based Matchmaking that puts you through a vicious cycle of having two poor games and then on the third one you absolute steamroll the other team.

    Camos are glitching out, the leveling system doesn't work properly and shows incorrect levels when you hit Prestige 1, Calling Cards cant be changed for love nor money for no apparent reason, the map Ruka on Dirty Bomb consistently crashes both mine and a friends game for no apparent reason, the lack of dedicated servers and not prioritizing players based on connection is ridiculous in 2020, the lack of maps, the lack of weapons, the slow weapon XP grind, the insane level of head-glitches, the character models blending into environments making it absolutely impossible to spot people despite them dude to the Reveal Enemy feature.

    The Multiplayer as it stands right now is a broken mess, but i still enjoy it (even though i have to play with a group of friends as whenever i play solo i seem to get put against CPL tier players)

    Zombies:

    Nothing much to say here, Zombies is Zombies.
    But it's not really.
    Lemme explain, apart from the design of the map and the Zombies (duh) it doesn't feel like a traditional Zombies mode, the UI looks like the one from Warzone, the Waypoint system removes any level of skill or adventure, the mode just feels like a spec ops mode with zombies elements.
    Fun if you're wanting a break from multiplayer or with friends.

    This review seems overwhelmingly negative, but don't let that stop you from finding your own fun with the game, because that's what I'm doing and that's what makes call of duty, call of duty.

    Game dexterity is fluid. Everything seems to be right. Just wished the story mode had more missions.

There is misspelled text, reused assets, confusing attachment descriptions and sloppy animation work throughout the entire game. Voice chat functionality works sporadically and sounds like you're talking through a $10 toy walkie talkie. Network performance is terrible, as 60 billion dollar publisher Activision does not think its biggest franchise is worth buying decent dedicated servers for, leaving it to a mix of peer-to-peer and otherwise connection, at an atrocious 20hz tickrate (Overwatch, Rainbow Six, Battlefield, PUBG and other titles have 60hz or above tickrates - more than triple)

    It is extremely clear in every aspect of the game that this title was unfinished and rushed out the door by a greedy publisher who doesn't give half a damn about the reputation of the devs or the consumers. Do not buy as-is.    … Expand

    Worst Call of Duty by far. The SBMM is so strict that u have to play with a beginner (to get mixed Lobbys) to compete Camo-Quests. Graphics look like we re back in time and also the Interface visuals looks super cheap. The Game is unbalanced and not in the way it could happen by accident. Its just the third year in a row everyone abuses mp5 from day one. Movement feels bad too. Its notWorst Call of Duty by far.     Dont know what they did with the aiming but something is wrong with it. Does not feel right at all it goes crazy at some point and than it doesn't move fast enough is just bad

    Activision is pushing for profit only and not catering to COD fans. MP is horrible. I’m hesitant to hit quick play button because of strong SBMM. No desire to do better, no desire to grind for something, boring, few maps, very buggy. Some perks just don’t work, C4 blowing you when you hit reload button, hit detection is very flawed, shoot first and die first too many times.     Zombies and Story is very nice. Multiplayer not that great every game feels the same and the connection is not as great because of the matchmaking.

    The Gunplay is fun but the maps are just bad there is not even 1 good map in this game.
    zombies is fun tho but not worth 60.
    just another disappointing cod form Treyarc

    As 6v6 MP only player I considered MW 2019 absolutely the worst CoD ever created. It had terrible maps with too many angles, terrible doors, infinite claymores with restock, no dead silence perk, TTK too fast, camping spots(even remastered maps were ruined with them), strong SBMM in casual playlist, washed out    My whole review is only about MP, I never play anything else in CoD...

It was like game itself decided if I kill or die.

    The last thing I ever wanted from CoD series is realism - the only reason I buy CoD is that it's casual fast paced arcady shooter, so I consider Cold War being huge improvement(to me every single CoD is masterpiece compared to last year MW). It's fast paced, maps are better(but not perfect), perks are more balanced, TTK is little bit slower(but still quite fast), there is just 1 land mine with long CD, game actually has some colors, camping is not the only way to play and it can be countered. It's CoD again and not Insurgency clone made for CoD haters and realism seekers. First 10 hours I had flawless experience - it reminded me times of BO1 and BO2 which are my most favorite CoD games. I wanted to go for 8+ rating but then thick skill based matchmaking kicked in and it ruined my experience with game little bit(and little bit more). Hard campers and sweats started to often fill my lobbies again(but at least whole game is not designed only for them). There should be casual playlist with weak or none SBMM and ranked with this kind of SBMM with ranks and extra rewards. Also on some maps there are flashing textures(sand on Satelite, mountains on Cartel). This was not happening on beta. There are also small bugs here and there like unlockable calling cards are not saved when you pick them. Another problem is lack of 6v6 maps on release so for now its like 6.5/10 for me untill everything is fixed. After that and when they add more maps it would be like 7.5/10. If they add also ranked and nerf SBMM in casual playlist I would go even for 8.5/10 easily. No performance problems at all on my side, runs exactly as MW (i7-7700k+1080Ti), 80-100 fps 1440p maxed out(tested MP only)

    EDIT: Changed rating from 7 to 2 just because of SBMM... It's not objective but I just can't do this anymore. I like game itself in general (much more than MW) but I absolutely refuse to sweat each and every single game to my maximum potential just to keep 1,2+ k/d in CASUAL playlist. I am not ranked player in any game - I HATE e-sport and ranked tryhard-meta trend, only reason I was playing COD was because it's casual MP game and it's not anymore. Game offers absolutely no choice in this matter, no ranked vs quick match playlist, there is only ranked without rank. Burn in hell for ruining this casual MP series and otherwise good game with system like this. I hope at least Battlefield will never give up on completly random server list system... I always liked COD more but this is just unbearable. Game itself decide who and when will do well or terrible in each match, not player skill. You had 2 good matches? Bad for you, next 2 you will be annihilated... You suck in 2 matches? Well, here is your candy - you will be rewarded with some easy game next. This is not even multiplayer, it's just singleplayer with adaptive difficulty with players carefully picked instead of bots.    … Expand

    Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ends up mirroring what the Call of Duty franchise offered last year, with some new additions that are also welcome, especially for long-term fans. While being set during a very intense period, the campaign ends up erring for its disappointing longevity, even though the value of repetition is intrinsic to it. Zombies are back in style, while multiplayer gains an excellent new mode, but here it errs again for the arsenal's lack of variety.

    While Cold War is a part of a series I would have said that I loved, I can’t fully embrace it now knowing that this work is trucking in harmful stereotypes via patriotic-tinged gameplay. A decent CoD multiplayer experience will likely emerge from the currently-underwhelming Cold War, but I’m going to seriously consider whether that gameplay is worth enduring (and supporting) the rest.
