    The absolute worst game I’ve ever played. Still feels like a beta game with no support. They add more problems than solutions. They are only looking for your money and not your enjoyment. I hope raven studios never leads a game again.

    I will never understand people hating on this game.
    First the campaign. One of few games that puts quality over quantity. You can finish the story in around 5 hours, but it's absolutely amazing, one of the best campaigns in all call of duty games. One of the best parts of the single player experiences for me was finding clues to other missions and deciphering them so that i can get acces to them. And both endings at the end of the game are amazing and unexpected which makes them even better.
    When it comes to multiplayer, it's made so that it is similiar to older COD game. Modern Warfare added a completely new gunplay and customization which was great. The varaiety of weapon customizaton in the new Black Ops isn't possible because the game takes place in 80s when guns weren't that customizable.
    The overall gamplay is more dynamic with smaller maps and new perks. It really is hard to camp in one place and kill somebody.
    For now there isn't that much content as there is in MW, because like in the previous game it's going to be added overtime.
    And now the zombies. To be honest the new zombies are great. The option of upgrading perks, weapons, field upgrades, picking a modified gun from your loadout changes the game completely. The game now isn't so based of getting a Ray Gun from a mystery box. For now there isn't much content, there are only two normal zombie maps and a new Outbreak mode which now has 5 diffrent maps.
    Overall it's a very good game. Of course it is something diffrent from Modern Warfare but it's not necesirly worse, it all depends on what people want from an FPS.    … Expand

    Really fun, I don't get why it is getting hate and backlash. The gameplay is great, the campaign is great, zombies is great. EVERYTHING IS GREAT.

    Every season this game gets more and more problems. It‘s just a scam what Treyarch and Activision is doing with this franchise and their community. Buggy, **** matchmaking but a few imfluencers still support this, just because they‘re payed by activision.

    This is my first Call Of Duty game I’ve spent lots time playing and I need to say: I am not disappointed. I played a couple matches on Modern Warfare but I was always left feeling really disappointed, mainly with the bland maps and layouts.     This is my first Call Of Duty game I’ve spent lots time playing and I need to say: I am not disappointed. I played a couple matches on Modern Warfare but I was always left feeling really disappointed, mainly with the bland maps and layouts. With Cold War, I find myself enjoying the maps thoroughly, with even the worst maps still being enjoyable. Maps such as The Pines and the updated Miami (Miami Strike) are welcome additions. Killing someone in one area of The Pines then running through the hallways to shoot another is exciting. Miami Strike is an improved Miami, in a smaller space that enables fighting. I have to say that the map that didn’t land for me at all was Satellite, and even then I still find enjoyment while playing on it. We see the return of incredible maps as well such as Nuketown (in the form of Nuketown ‘84) which makes me more interested in playing previous instalments. There are many incredible game modes to play on these maps as well, including a personal favourite: Search And Destroy. Every game feels new and exciting, while allowing me to consistently improve. The main reason I didn’t give this game a 10/10 however, is the fact that the game often freezes and lags, even when my internet connection is perfect. It does often get in the way of fully enjoying the game to it’s potential. This game was an excellent introduction into the world of Call Of Duty for me, making me excited for future games in the franchise.    … Expand

    Gdyby nie tryb zombie to równie dobrze pieniądze wydane na tą grę mógł bym zwyczajnie wyrzucić przez okno.
    Jestem fanem serii black ops i grałem w każdą część i uważam że ta jest najgorsza i w dodatku nie ma nawet co porównywać z modern warfare 2019, bo mw jest o 1000 razy lepszy

    Utter rubbish. Activision couldn't care less if you enjoy it as long as they have your money. This game is riddled with bad coding, bad graphics and what isn't bad is just dated and shoddy.
    No feedback from activision or the Devs.
    I have a PS4 pro and the graphics are equivalent to a PS2 on a good day. I will be going STRAIGHT BACK TO BATTLEFIELD after this horrendous piece of garbage

That quickly took a turn with the SBMM system. I did good maybe 3 times and get pitted against people that have well over 300+ hrs playtime, that play like chumps. Head-glitching, camping with the Streetsweeper, proneI made the mistake of buying this game about a week ago. There was a free week or so to play, and I was having fun with my girlfriend, so we ended up purchasing this- thing. That quickly took a turn with the SBMM system. I did good maybe 3 times and get pitted against people that have well over 300+ hrs playtime, that play like chumps. Head-glitching, camping with the Streetsweeper, prone in a corner with noob tubes, you name it. I tried to get a refund, but of course I had the game too long to get my money back. I haven't even been into CoD since BO2 and I can safely say, this is a big step in the complete opposite direction since then. Not only that but I feel like I'm playing a Beta now. What's being done on this game? It feels unpolished. Undercooked and full of grit and grime. If you're looking into buying this. DO NOT.     Este es el peor Call of duty hasta la fecha, no hay equilibrio, errores constantes , campaña que dura unas 3-4 horas y en general es mucho peor que su juego anterior y mas encima cobrando de mas para poder jugar en versiones de Ps5 por un videojuego incompleto , hay que ser miserable y rastrero para hacer eso.

    Only Treyarch is incompetent enough to make a game that doesn't know how capitalize on a better company (Infinity Ward) and still break the game with busted guns like the streetsweeper. Engine is absolutely horrendous and animations look like a high schooler with special needs made it in their free time. Treyarch please do the COD community a favor and never make another title ever again

    Visually the game looks like the weapons and players are plastic toys. I don't know if this was apart of the 80s vibe, but it looks cheap. The fidelity is nice the guns look good, just they look like toys. The animations are okay, but the step up from MW2019 which released a year ago makes them seem "last-gen".

    The single-player story was okay, and I don't play Zombies. So the package was a real wash. The only bright side is I can use the Black Ops weapons in Warzone. So it feels like a 60 dollar battle pass for Warzone.    … Expand

    It has achieved one of the most pleasant FPS gameplay in the industry, in addition to a sound configuration that makes you feel sensations closer to the physical ones only through sound (I have no vibration since I play on PC with keyboard and mouse).
    I enjoyed the Modern Warfare multiplayer more than Cold War multiplayer, but in everything else Cold War seemed much better, especially with Outbreak, this being the zombies mode that I have ever enjoyed the most and to which I am very very very hooked playing solo and co-op.    … Expand

    Amazingly fun! Best Multiplayer since COD: Advanced Warfare. The weapon's are fun and the gameplay feels very realistic. Although the campaign may not be the most memorable in the series, it's the closest thing you could come to a James Bond game in 2021 with nice 80th vibes. Overall, i enjoyed this game way more than I thought I would.

The multiplayer experience is horrible and the game still crashes constantly. Campaign is ver short but not bad and Zombies is the only enjoyable mode out there. This game is just an unfinished mess.

There are way too many campers and it makes the game unplayable. The skill-based match-making is not accurate and you are forced to sweat the entire time and the game didn't add anything new. This isn't a new game this is just a version of BO1 that theyI played through the glitch and stuttery mess of the campaign and it was way too short and didn't answer any of my questions from BO1-BO2. The multiplayer servers are ok but the ZOMBIES SERVERS ARE THE LAGGIEST THINGS IN THE WORLD! I will be sitting at good frame rates and then boom everything in the game is 2 fps. I honestly can't stand this and the zombies mode isn't even that fun. The people making cod need to go back and have pols so we can actually get a chance on getting something we want.     Visuals and audio are a step back from modern warfare. It looks like crap and the audio is garbage. Controls are clunky at best. And the servers CONSTANTLY have issues. Overall I regret my purchase of this game.

Now not only are you constantly being thrown into sweaty matches with people roughly your skill level (when the stupid system works, which is never.) but now you're thrown    The Absolute Worst Call of Duty ever made. And yes, I'm taking that weird offshoot 'Ghost' into account.
    Here's Why this **** gets a 0, and why I wish I could give it a -10.

    Skill Based Matchmaking; An Abomination. Now not only are you constantly being thrown into sweaty matches with people roughly your skill level (when the stupid system works, which is never.) but now you're thrown into those matches with an extra large serving of LAG, because Skill Based Matching Making DOESN'T **** TAKE LATENCY INTO ACCOUNT. The game doesn't give a **** about whether or not the game as playable, so long as it's sweaty as **** Which results in people teleporting around the map, suddenly popping into existence in front of you (and you instantly being dead because they've been shooting at you for a solid 5 seconds before they 'decloaked') and a plethora of really ****ty latency based issues. But does Treyarch give a **** No, **** us, they want us to play the glitchiest, ****tiest matches possible because they, as a studio, hate the **** out of their player base.

    Skill Based Matchmaking has the unfortunate side effect of making the only interesting part of Cold War unplayable. It would be great if just once, JUST **** ONCE, I could complete a multiplayer zombies match without the lobby, the host, or myself simply lagging the **** out and either CTD or CTM.

    The Campaign; Like raw sewage and kale mixed in a blender with exactly two scoops of cake flavored protein mix. It would be preferable to simply microwave week old garbage and insert it into your rectum.

    The Graphics; **** And not just **** but BROKEN **** I've never had to 'recompile' **** shaders so much in my entire **** life. Game gets a patch, and suddenly I have giant walls springing into existence around me with no rhyme or reason. I can't see through them, but they only exist for me. It's like if I'd been dropped into Afganistan with an M-16 high as **** on a mixture of ketamine and military grade LSD. You're not sure whats going on, but the god damn ground is 100% trying to eat you.
    The only way to make these helucinatory walls disappear? Recompile the Shaders. But Guess What?! THAT ONLY WORKS SOME OF THE TIME, HAHAHA!

    I hate this game, I will absolutely never buy another **** Treyarch game so long as I **** live.

I don’t understand why so many developers were used in the game seeing as some of the segments weren’t all that ground breaking and felt a bit phoned in. The only positive points I have are in the game’s performance on PS4 as well as the visuals. This over encumbered game expects you to play online and while I can see that being why people play Call of Duty games, the series for me has cheapened into cash grab territory and that’s upsetting to me. So congrats to the 8 developers by making Black Ops as bland and uninteresting as the other Call of Duty games I guess money pools are more important.… Expand

You can't reload while aiming down sights anymore which gets you killed in zombies all the time! This is by far one of the worst cod games I've played! Regret purchasing it! But never again

    Spent about 30 minutes trying to get into a game and it kept throwing me into full lobbies and i kept getting the same error over and over again that the lobby is full. Unplayable garbage.
    Zombies was the only fun thing in that game and got almost instant matchmaking.

    The campaign is the best of any of the Call of Duty or Battlefield games I've played since Black Ops 1. The story is somewhat interesting, the characters are cool, and the weapons and mechanics are strong. The levels are still linear, though more complex and involved than many of the past iterations of these COD games.

    Multiplayer is the bread and butter here and this game does it exceptionally well. The gun mechanics are crisp and snappy, and they look authentic. Gameplay mechanics are excellent and fast. Other shooters feel sluggish by comparison. You have a wealth of gun attachments to choose from, and the interface actually tells you how each attachment changes the stats of your gun specifically. If you enjoy playing fast, you can increase your sprint speed, sprint-out speed, aim-down-sight time and movement speed noticeably. If you're a defensive-wiz or a sniper, you can kit out for accuracy and precision, while sacrificing your mobility.

    There's also a solid set of maps to choose from, with variety in their layouts--Nuketown, Mall, Sanatorium, Checkmate and Raid are my personal favorites. The maps are generally more straight-forward than Cod Modern Warfare--as your not able to use verticality nearly as much--but they're still enjoyable.

    I generally stick to Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint, and enjoy Nuketown so much that most of my time is spent on the mode Nuketown 24/7. However, there are multiple other enjoyable multiplayer modes--Fireteam, VIP Escort and Control are all a lot of fun, and all very different from your typical deathmatch-style fight.

    I don't play zombies very much, but it seemed cool when I tried it and I know a lot of people really love this side of multiplayer.

    You're also able to track your progress and stats with a wealth of information in the barracks tab. And you can generally enjoy multiplayer without ever having to buy anything besides the seasons pass. There's bragging-rights incentives, as you can earn various banners and emblems by completing challenges.

    Now to the downsides.

    1. Skill-based matchmaking. Enough people complain about this that I feel I don't need to spend too much time on it. I don't hate it as much as many do, however, I do yearn to go back to a world where I can play casually, and not have to exhaust myself with sweaty-level effort every time I enter a match.

    2. The variety in weapons. The list of guns is fewer than Cod Mw, and so many work almost identically to one another. The constant nerfing/buffing adjustments in the updaes results in a tepid mix of firearms, eliminating the meta, but also the interesting mix of strategies that players will employ when faced with a set of very different tools. Often the guns they buff aren't bad at all, they just require more-skilled players to use effectively. And by making them easier to use, and more like the other weapons, you're removing one of the most enjoyable parts of this mode--mastering certain weapons and certain play styles.

    3. The scoring isn't great. Often, you'll play the objective far more than anyone else--say doubling or tripling the next guy on your teams' time in hardpoint only to finish in 4th place.

    Overall, it's a very good shooter with a B- campaign and a B+ multiplayer experience. It could use some more weapon variety to keep the game interesting, but it's definitely worth picking up.    … Expand

    I for one do understand why so many people love call of duty, its multiplayer, and thankfully its just as fun here as its ever been with all of its modes outside of team deathmatch.. that’s usually my favorite mode, but I just wasn’t feeling the maps this year in deathmatch, but I had an absolute blast anyway for hours playing that ultra addicting, spawn shoot die gameplay, and its been a hwile since ive played a call of duty game.. since ww2.. so im not sure if these things are new but I am loving the instant respawns here on the next gen.. and I also appreciate that camping snipers have a little reflection to give away their location.. ive never been a fan of zombies mode, its obviously here.. I cant fairly critique it as it just isn’t my thing… but the main reason I play a call of duty game, at least in my currently life where I don’t have the time to sink days into multiplayer is the campaign.. but thankfully I do have the fun and addictive multiplayer to play through while it takes more hours to download than it does to actually play…
    Here you play as yourself, during the cold war, and the campaign actually started with tons of promise.. I wouldn’t mind if every year we got a well told 3-4 hour long story full of amazing set pieces and a mind blowing experience to compliment the fun multiplayer, and this campaign had its moments, it felt like an interactive movie with great moments and missions, some of the best stealth missions ive ever experienced in a first person shooter, but halfway through the campaign just falls apart, it becomes generic first person shooter level design and story telling, theres even a section of the game here youre redoing the same thing like 5 times in a row… that’s how much you can tell the creative juices have evaporated after an impressive start.. I didn’t want to stop playing, but I had to to let part 2 download… such a let down…
    Call of Duty is what it is…
    You know what youre going to get every year…
    it never changes outside of the setting..and this is where the let down comes into play
    Im personaly okay with a little 4 hour journey each year, but please put a little more effort and see that effort through, especially if again,, its only going to be 4 hours… it better be solid.

    Quite frankly it sucks, the graphics look like they were designed by a small child, the content is lacking, all they care about is pumping out new skins, Zombies is the only saving grace but with only one proper Zombies map that doesn't even cut it, save your money, I'm avoiding the next black ops.

    I liked it, dont see what all the hatevis about. I personly liked the campaign, and the multiplayer is good, if you dont look at the long level grind

    Haven't bought the game yet but the beta multiplayer was ok i had fun but im a huge zombies fan and the free beta access for a week i played was absolutely terrible, didnt felt like zombies at all i mean you can start with a rifle WHAT IS THIS you are supposed to start with a m1911 and end with a puck a punched ray gun. They ruined the franchise once again

    Bunny Hopping & Power Slide - these (magically) have zero impact on aim - I know they are trying to attract the Fortnite crowd but come on. At least have a mode where there is a half second delay (to aim) on conducting those moves. Fire wildly while doing those things and hope for a hit? No problem. But playing in a game with a guy using a candy cane striped 50 cal hopping around quick scoping people is also cartoon quality realism.

    Sliding Knife Kills - A guy running at you with a knife while you pop off rounds into his sternum...yah I'd take my chances on the gun side in real life. In this game? You are dead as they sweep in and cut your...kneecaps off. That is deadly stupid. Finishing moves? Knifing someone from behind? Sure thing. But being shot tends to loosen a persons grip on a knife.....no?

    Of course unlimited lives is silly too but there is a difference. Watching a map full of cheer leaders bounding around shooting with precision accuracy or people sliding 10 feet to knife someone in the shin is simply lame. At the very least, maybe think of having fixed rooms where people who don't want to play "Fortnite Lite" can get some real physical dynamics.    … Expand

It is laughable how this game gets praise, as it is so very clearly a downgrade from Modern Warfare.

    The multiplayer feels arcadey and cartoonish. The movement doesn't correspond well with the map design, being able to slide about 10 feet from a slight jog. The visibility is piss poor, due to the strange lighting on the darker maps and the wonky animations for the character models. This game will be put to rest and give up on within 3 months. Why can't they just continue to update MW?

    The zombies is forgettable. Boring and bland. Campaign is short and cheesey.

Literally all I play is Nuketown and maybe Raid (or other remasters when this review becomes outdated). While it feels a lot like Modern Warfare, this feels better to me. Modern Warfare feels more realistic, but Cold War is a bit more arcady. People who say the game feels weird orFor me, this is a conflicting game. In those games, it felt like a stripped down survival mode, where you need to know the game. This zombies feels so different, more like MW3 survival (that's still really good btw). Honestly, kinda feels like Zombies for newer players, which isn't bad, but when you've played other games, this one feels so different from other zombies games. Weapon tiers are SO stupid, the game feels really advanced with tons and tons of other stuff to setup/etc. TL;DR: Feels too different, you may not enjoy it if you are a previous player.    … Expand

    Just another Call of Duty. The single player introduced a lot of new elements to the franchise that, might be amongst my top 3 CoD campaigns. Zombies and Multiplayer, simple copy paste. Would not recommend for full price.

    I think game developers must stop with this stupid season progress-mode. It kills the game a year after its release, makes potential new players lose interest in it (because they can't access to some mechanics or skins) and forces players to start a rage-full grind. I know they want easy and fast money. Call me crazy, but loot boxes are better, because you can get the full game whenever you want. i.e. Battlefield 4 isn't dead and still makes money despite it's been released in 2013. Same with other games SWBTF2, GTA V, PVZ GW.

    Feels like it was released way too early. No Cod has ever felt so bad, I've played them all and never had any big issues, but this is just abysmal. Riddled with issues. Glad they did a free week on Zombies, saved me £60!

It gets a little bit repetitive over time, but it feels like i'm in 2008 again! Zombies: 7/10. My overall rating of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a 4/10. I feel like this game should cost 40$ at most, it's just not worth 60$. I think it's worth the buy if you like campaigns or zombies, but if you're wanting multiplayer, just stick to Modern Warfare for now.… Expand

The guns look so blocky and plastic, They might as well have taken models from roblox. The dev team is garbage, they all need to be sentenced to running on a hamster wheel until they drop into a faceplant and get rapidly spun around in circles until they puke up their mcdonalds sausage buscuits for this nonsense. The maps are trash and huge. I literally sprint around for 3 minutes straight looking behind every crevice, pre-aiming and bunny hopping through every door finding nobody because theses maps are the size of College Universities, only to get drop shotted in the butt hole by a bolt action sniper who spawned 3 feet behind me because the spawns are diabolical. The game is literally cheating. My aim get thrown around nerds when I try to get them in my sights like they have a fricken force field. My bullets go straight through these dweebs like they are fricking tobi from naruto. I’m literally shooting these nerds in their heads putting shotgun barrels up their nostrils and the bullets go straight through them and I get beamed. Skill based match making makes it to where if you so much as go positve, you get thrown into lobbies full of nothing but unkempt neckbead mouse and keyboard draculas who haven’t seen the sun in 3 months using their giant stack of empty ubereats pizza boxes as a gaming chair and smelling like shIIIIIIIIIITE! Why is scump in my lobby? This is terrible. The streak system blows it takes damn near a nuke in past cods to get a weak choppy in this one. Gotta go a whole match without dying basically to get a choppy only to get how many kills with it? That’s right... none.     1/10 - Vehicles are still just a gimmick regardless of the mode, they feel odd and clunky. It‘s possible to shoot down a tank with rifles easily. SBMM:
    1/10 - It is far to easy to downgrade your skill level. Just kill yourself often enough to get better lobbies. This reverse boosting leads to frustrating lobbies for average players who do not grind at least 6 hours a day.

    Character Design:
    On a scale of 1-10? A zero.
    The character Design in this game looks like a LEGO Version of USA versus the evil Russian. The colours, the details - almost any charakter looks awfull. Even the ones you have to buy. The weapons:
    4/10 - They feel balanced but!! DMRs are WAY to powerfull in this game. 95% of the weapons are straight MW2019 clones. There ist still the M4, MP5, MP7, Uzi and so on but with slightly different names. The Skills:
    3/10 It really shouldnt be possible to have a dead silence perk active all the time. It was perfectly balanced in MW2019 by charging „dead silence“.

    The Spawns:
    2/10 - Its way to easy to get spawnlocked/spawncamped in this game. Spawnflips are way too often with remaining camping enemy players on both sides. So you get farmed as soon you spawn fairly often.    … Expand

    Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ends up mirroring what the Call of Duty franchise offered last year, with some new additions that are also welcome, especially for long-term fans. While being set during a very intense period, the campaign ends up erring for its disappointing longevity, even though the value of repetition is intrinsic to it. Zombies are back in style, while multiplayer gains an excellent new mode, but here it errs again for the arsenal's lack of variety.

    While Cold War is a part of a series I would have said that I loved, I can’t fully embrace it now knowing that this work is trucking in harmful stereotypes via patriotic-tinged gameplay. A decent CoD multiplayer experience will likely emerge from the currently-underwhelming Cold War, but I’m going to seriously consider whether that gameplay is worth enduring (and supporting) the rest.
