    The game is enjoyable until you hit level 50. Then you realize that half the game is bugged, half the skills are not functional, the patches are ridiculous and ruining the game, an entire character is unplayable, mayhem mode makes no sense and it's better to just save + quit until you get good modifiers (because the modifier system right now is dumb as hell. -50% dmg to all guns! +50% dmgThe game is enjoyable until you hit level 50.     This game shouldn't have been released for at least another 6 months and if I could return it, I would. Most overhyped game on the market right now. Just absolutely horrid.

    My first 10-20 hours on the game I'd give a 8/10. The rest I'd give a 1/10 considering how utterly glitchy and broken this game is.    … Expand

    After 7 years of waiting all we get basically is borderlands 2.5, with a horrible main story and one that’s been done before as well, it’s just an horrible boring all female cast to keep the minority snowflakes happy, with none of the great writing, characters and humour from the first 2 two present in this game. 7 years on and still have the same crappy map layout and woeful backpackAfter 7 years of waiting all we get basically is borderlands 2.5, with a horrible main story and one that’s been done before as well, it’s just an horrible boring all female cast to keep the minority snowflakes happy, with none of the great writing, characters and humour from the first 2 two present in this game. 7 years on and still have the same crappy map layout and woeful backpack inventory system, which shows just how lazy and non innovative Gearbox is.     I liked B1, loved B2 and TPS was okay but B3s is just MEH, the writing is terrible all characters are either total DUDE-BRO DOUCHE BAGS or utterly forgettable, the new character (the kid) is just a whiny irritating boring nobody who added nothing to the game that others could not have done better, then there was the framerate issues and all    DISSAPPOINTING boring and coop is total garbage.

    I would be embarrassed to say how much I played borderlands two. That was an amazing game. And someways borderlands three is a remarkable achievement. The new engine, the gameplay, the look, all are worthy of the franchise. But the writing is absolutely terrible. There used to be somebody in that writing room that understood that a little honesty goes a long way. Every single characterI would be embarrassed to say how much I played borderlands two.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only real positive I have for this game compared to it's bl2 ancestor is it's gunplay is better. It's story is pretty average an forgettable which is fine I guess for a Borderlands game. Buts it's end game content blows. Mayhem is just a bunch of random modifiers that might or might not destroy your build. If you find a cool playstyle mayhem is guaranteed to destroy it. 140 legendaries are world drops. So if you want a certain legendary rather than having a source to farm it from you have to farm one boss over and over until you maybe get it. Even then it might have a crappy annointment or no annointment at all. And the game doesn't run that great on all platfors. The menus are laggy and borderline unusable. The game is really just a bunch of negatives compared to bl2.… Expand

    I love borderlands series and have spent countless hours on the games. My partner and I love couch co-op games, so this is a big disappointment. How can they release such laggy game? My game crashed twice within 2 hours, the menu freezes a lot, loading time is slow, and I have to wear glasses to be able to read the text! Please fix this asap!

    Bought this game for the splitscreen Coop. Horizontal splitscreen is basically unplayable. Very disappointed that there is no vertical splitscreen option. Have played once for 30 mins, given up and not touched again.

    UI is completely innavigable and gives no instructions to users. I just want to play the damn game. Idk what happened to all the UX people, but any change shows in this product. Outside of gameplay, this game is complete hassle.

    So disappointed in this game, I played it for about 5 hours with friends and decided to sell it. Absolute trash story line and character development, very laggy menus and dissatisfying gun combat, will stay away from borderlands games in the future.

    I have a bit more than 100 hours and I can say that this game is pretty bad. It is one of the least entertaining games I have played, but I was just striving to make it fun due to my love of Borderlands 2. This game is not borderlands 2.

    The graphics are okay. The guns all look ridiculous, though.     The gameplay is annoying. The enemies blend into the environments and the shooting is unsatisfying.

    None of the 4 playable characters clicked with me, like several did in every other game. None of the characters are fun at all for me, so it feels kind of hollow when I play.

    Guns. They suck. Any decent weapon requires a ridiculous amount of farming, or luck. Legendary guns drop like blues dropped in previous Borderlands installments. That is not an exaggeration. Also, guns have anoints. Now, you can't just farm a gun with some good parts. You need a gun with the right anoint, which doesn't always drop. These anointed guns can do more than double the damage of the original, essentially forcing you to just use what you get instead of what you want.

    Oh yeah, the story sucks. Lilith is essentially Roland, except that Roland was always weirdly calm and leader-like, that was his character. It was interesting. Lilith is just monotonous and annoying. She lost all personality in favor of constantly calling over the player to talk to her.    … Expand

    Why are is vertical split screen not an option? I honestly feel offended that gear box over looked this feature. Borderlands was one of the only games you could literally sit down next to your friends (In Person not online) and play a Good Co-op game, please don’t ruin this for us. My wife is heart broken.

    Totally unable to coop due to the bad horizontal split screen. Lag and impossible to see item stats because of the puny tiny text.
    Worse borderlands series ever if you wish to couch coop.

    The biggest disappointment? Sitting in a “midnight” release line for an hour and getting home to find out I can’t split screen share play on my PS4? Come on 2K/PS4 why market a flagship feature to play with your friends when 2K wants to make everyone suffer if they don’t pay the $60 price tag... greedy sons of...

    After a night of solo play on this game, I can’t see any reason why it should get any sort of great reviews unless the publisher is padding their review scores (which they are allegedly being accused of).     I'm playing single player offline and the game still slows down at times. My chief irritation with this game is the writer who seems to only want to represent women & gays positively and disparage on men. Especially white straight men. Most protagonists are female.     What a weird and poor choice from the developers! They only gave the review edition for PC Players, because the PS4 Pro version runs extremely bad! On performance mode you get mostly 45FPS and Resolution it’s clearly above 30FPS! 5 years of waiting to get this disappointed. Sad choice from the developers. Hope this gets a patched!

I had to turn this game off after 15 minutes with a serious    Unplayable! No Friends Only parties. No vertical splitscreen. Horrible motion blur. Horrible screen tearing. Sluggish controls with a huge deadzone on a standard PS4 with standard controller.

    I've played all the previous Borderlands games all the way through several times on multiple platforms, including PS4. Loved them! I had to turn this game off after 15 minutes with a serious headache. The onscreen movement is noticeably lagged behind the controller. Even with the deadzone setting turned to 0, there's a pause as you move the sticks, and then the screen suddenly tears and jumps to catch up. After "catching up", the motion blur sets in, and you cannot turn this off. If you change direction, the same pause and jump happens again in the new direction.

    One of the best things about BL's 1-Pre was the Friends Only parties and splitscreen coop, allowing friends to join and leave at any time as they were available. Friends Only is not even available, and the splitscreen is horizontal only, which is like peering through a mailslot on a standard widescreen.

    I will not be playing this game until the video and controller settings are thoroughly patched, assuming 2K is on the snap. In the mean time, this was a waste of $60. Don't buy it!    … Expand

    I can't believe that they ruined the borderlands franchise like this :( Terrible writing, terrible graphics, terrible gameplay... it doesn't feel like they tried at all, it fells like a halfassed version of BL2 instead of a proper sequel :(

    Ps4 Pro. A half broken and outdated game. I can't play it cause it makes me feel sick in all performance modes, I play VR few cases of motion sickness so things have to be terrible for me to have knots in my stomach after 15 minutes and vomit in my mouth if I try to push it further.

Useless to play this way, impossible to see stats, weapons, etc. One player's menus overlap into the screen of other player,Laggy, clunky, cringy mess. I've played both Borderlands and Borderlands 2 into the ground, so I was very excited for 3. What a let down after years of waiting.     The game is nearly unplayable as is. I only buy Borderlands because of the couch coop feature. I cant speak for single player, but in split screen mode it's just nothing but frame drops and lag. It should be criminal to release a game like this. I spent $60+ and cannot play it .

    Do not buy this game, I don't care about the drama around it, its just a all around bad game. Prior games had a lot of unique bosses with interesting mechanics, varied enemies, lots of loot, legendaries with unique feels, a open world, etc, this game has none of that.

    There are linear quests that open up briefly to open worlds before shoving you down narrow paths one after another, the    Do not buy this game, I don't care about the drama around it, its just a all around bad game. Prior games had a lot of unique bosses with interesting mechanics, varied enemies, lots of loot, legendaries with unique feels, a open world, etc, this game has none of that.

    There are linear quests that open up briefly to open worlds before shoving you down narrow paths one after another, the open world aspect barely exists, the weapons are bland and more or less just stat sticks, gone are the days of unique weapons with cool innovations. mob spawns dump you right in the middle of fights and you can't really effectively pick off mobs with sniper rifles as they sway heavily, often times direct hits with them don't count as i've put 5 or 6 headshots into a mob with every single one showing a effect of hitting the wall directly behind his head, this also applies to when they are behind cover. Making sniping near worthless.

    The classes are bland and the skills are again just various stat boosts no real innovative ways to build characters just min maxing stats and its boring as hell.

    The story is atrocious as the main villains are literally youtubers, its like they were trying to make a statement about how they hate them especially given how they have been sending literal thugs illegally to youtubers houses before the game released to try and intimidate them. The dialogue is so incredibly cringey its like they didn't even hire writers, the jokes are bad and unfunny in every way, your favorite characters have been butchered in bland pointless characters and the deaths in the game that should feel meaningful don't even hit a single emotional beat as by that point in the game you've probably checked out like i did. IT felt less like a story and more like fetch quest the game.

    The is so little enemy variation, prior games did a dance between wildlife, bandits, aliens and unique bosses to keep things fresh. The wildlife is barely in the game and the monsters / aliens all play the same as do the bosses, everything feels the same like your grinding the same first stage over and over and over infinitely. It gets so old so fast specially given the lack of ways to play and the lackluster weapons.

    This is like how borderlands 2 the prequel felt like it has lost its touch a bit but this one full on derailed and has no magic left. If your into repetitive boring, grind fests while playing a bullet sponge as you literally sit in the open and pick off enemies then this game is for you. They have literally downgraded or outright destroyed every aspect of what made 1 and 2 great, I mean I got to level 20 skipping every side after the first few as they were just terrible, repetitive shooting galleries and when I got to 20 I realized, why am I playing this game? I'm literally not having any fun and the more I play the more I hate it as the effort put in only seems to go down the further you get in the game. Thats not even getting into the woke elements that I don't care to have shoved down my throat when I play a video game.

    Congrats gearbox you've taken a incredible game and literally run it into the ground with unoriginal ideas and milked the franchise dry. I won't be buying another 2k or gearbox game again, this feels like duke nukem forever or fallout 76 levels of crap. DO NOT BUY THIS    … Expand

I should probably grind to another level before I can beat this guy but thats just not cool. If i made it all this way through the campaign, I should be able to beat the boss. I open my menu and it takes 10 seconds to load, I move around my invintory and it lags so hard. it also has a bunch of problems from the other games too. I have no clue where im going half of the time and I get stuck on everything. one big drawback is that you can only do 2 players locally (unlike the other games) so my dad, my brotheri freaken love borderlands. but this game is so laggy.     The writing is quite simply horrible. The bugs are insane. It deletes your Loot stash, enemies are stuck in walls, the interact button sometimes won't appear. They keep nerfing the Loot too. So if you've lost some good legendaries to the bank deleting bug too bad for you because they nerfed the drop rate across the board and you'll spend countless hours trying to get them back but they never drop. They pad game hours by making eridium crystals and texts unavailable until the game is nearly finished. So if you enjoy running the out h 5 load screens for relevant gin game story that was locked behind a stupid plaque you're in for a treat. It's honestly just not a good game. The NPC needed to start the quest (Clay) will not move to the activation point. Players have reported this bug for weeks but 18 days later the bug has yet to have been fixed.     Unbelievable loading: the first one is about of 1 minute and 40 seconds!.
    All of this for a 99 euros and Gearbox don't fix nothing, they only think to the golden keys.

    Originally I wrote a review defending the game when it first came out. After playing it for much longer, I simply enough found the game unbearably tedious, boring and completely void of any really good humor or writing. Its just kinda a big shooty mess of uninspired shooty level design.

    Nothing here stands out as fresh, in regards to the layout of this open world. Pandora and the other planets in Borderlands 1 -2 had much more character and personality as opposed to these newer maps. Its sort of annoying how void of entertainment this game is.

    I understand that it is JUST a big dumb shooter, but GOD! is it dumb. Also the missions as fetch quests are probably some of weakest i've played Everything is so oddly placed and just really lakc any focus, Its kinda irritating.I've played much more calculated and entertaining fetch quests in previous Borderlands games.

    I feel as if i've just kinda grown out of this genre of game. I need more narrative structure these days Humor that is subtle. I guess borderlands just isn't for me these days.

    As a huge fan of Borderlands and Borderlands 2 I expected more. No where near the performance of the remastered Borderlands 2 which runs smoothly at 60fps in full HD. I can't get more than a few hours into a laggy 30fps and below game with grainy and pixelated visuals. Assuming the ps5 is backwards compatible I'll try to play the game again when I update from my standard PS4.

    This game needs to fix the scaling for solo players. The main mission is level 19. I’m 22. The boss is 24. I have nowhere to go to farm guns at my level. Even if I did, I’m still 2 levels lower than the boss. I have to hope the one vending machine on sanctuary might have a decent lvl 22 gun or wait 20 minutes for it reset.     Decent game but pretty easy most of the time - lots to do. Though nowhere near as funny as a Borderlands game should be instead going with the forced agenda. I play games to enjoy and take a break from reality so when forced agenda is rammed down my throat I am not particularly content with that.

    BL2 had WAY BETTER HUMOR

The biggest letdown is the FPS lag on a PS4 Pro - I've not experienced anything this poorly ported before on this console - getting less than 30 FPS. There is a performance adjustment in the settings but that is bad way of covering up low quality porting. I shouldn't have to chose on a higher end console between performance and high quality visuals.

    As for the visuals the environments are pretty and for the 10 hours I put into the game I enjoyed some of the things I viewed, but there was little desire to keep playing because of shuttering.

    Creeps never die and are always respawned in their original locations. Seems like fun if I want to constantly grind, but if I wipe out a level 1 camp I don't expect to encounter it again when I go through that section on my way back to base. In addition the leveling system seems boring and just because I can upgrade to higher dps weapons there is no difference between my toon at level 3 and 9 outside of some perks I chose. Speaking of, it conceptually seemed cool to be able to use these skills in battle but I wasn't impressed by the need to use them in battles.

    Most battles are shoot, throw a grenade, use some sort of special skill perk, repeat. I didn't get too much enjoyment out of running through the same waves of enemies but this time in 'vr' aka a blue filter on the screen and a special semi-boss before I could finish my objective. BORING!

    The writing reminds me of dad joke puns paired with the same type of borderlands game play from this series 2nd installment. I couldn't even bring myself to really laugh at some of the corny jokes and the mature rating was more comical than the stupid jokes I heard.

    This is a game I regret buying (thankfully I got it preowned and can still return it) because this game lacks in many ways. I typically don't find myself bored within a half hour of game play and with this it felt more like a chore to play than to enjoy spending my time grinding through the same low-level camps I already cleared, twice.     I was a huge fan of the series, I actually liked this game, but the performance problems and the lack of fix for it (after all these months) is disappointing.

I really wanted to overlook its flaws and just enjoy the gameplay. sadly the game runs terribly on consoles (my ps4 pro) and consistent stuttering and low frame rates( 7 months later still not fixed) make my eyes hurt. how can I give it more than 0 if I can't even play the game… Expand

    El rendimiento es lamentable y ni se diga jugarlo en pantalla dividida porque el rendimiento es aun peor, el contenido real del juego es por demás si ple y repetitivo, el desarrollo de la trama y los personajes es sumamente simplista, ni hablar de los antagonistas, me quedo con Borderlands 2, es infinitamente superior en todo sentido

    As a long time fan of the series, I tried to give this an honest chance, but BL3 is not the game we all know and love. I WANT to love this game. I really do! But, the constant hot fixes and updates only make it worse and do not fix the things that truly need fixing (kind of like a couple of other notable titles ehem Anthem). The whole attraction to the series was its over the top dialogue and build up gameplay to where eventually your vault hunter was Godlike. Now it’s like a wannabe Destiny without the PvP that frustrates me and makes me go meh, let’s try this new independent title. If you have nothing else to play, Borderlands 3 is an okay distraction till the next big release.… Expand

    Just thinking about this game gives me a migraine.

    Soulless, horrible writing that ruins the experience, performance issues that are somehow still a thing five months later, and a disgusting endgame. What a disappointment.

My biggest complaint is that split-screen is still broken, this is the main reason I play these games and it’s almost March 2020, that’s unacceptable. Every guy in the game is just an unfunny, irritating prick with very "quirky" humour. Every time you want to do a mission you always gotta listen to one these characters.     For a game based on just shooting people the gunplay really sucks. There are no tactics involved. All you need to do is aim the gun and then press the shoot button and you will win fight if you have good enough gear.

    One positive are of course the amount of guns. Its insane how many guns there are in the game. However there still isnt a DPS-counter in the game. WHY? It would be so much more convenient to pick which gun to use with a DPS-counter.

    There is a open world in this game tho, but it sucks. Its so dead and stale. Its just an empty excuse for an open world where the only thing to do is to get guns, over and over and over again.

    I personally couldnt play this game for more than an hour without getting bored because of how repetitive it is.    … Expand

    More guns, more planets, more skills, more… more. If you liked the previous ones, this gives you plenty of the same to enjoy. Borderlands 3 is the very definition of the bigger and better sequel. [Issue#168, p.76]

    Factor in the graphical glitches, rampant texture pop-in and generally asthmatic performance levels, even when running on a PS4 Pro with settings optimised to favour smooth running, and there really is no end of reasons not to love Borderlands 3 (and don’t even think about Googling developers Gearbox Games’ litany of employee relations history)...And yet... love it, I do. Guilty as charged.
