Beyond Eyes is a third person linear game in which you control a young girl looking for her cat. I won't comment on the story, because that would mean there actually is one. You complete levels by walking through them, and since the girl is blind, you have to uncover levels as you walk, giving the feeling of blindness. This is an interesting mechanic, but wears thin after the first level.Beyond Eyes is a third person linear game in which you control a young girl looking for her cat. Overall, there aren't very many good qualities about the game. Expand

I expected more from this one. It started in a very interesting way; you play as a blind little girl, who tries to find her missing cat. The game starts from a scratch, white screen and you start discovering the world by slowly moving around and by following the sounds. However, Beyond Eyes deliveres a short and predictable story that felt as if developers had a lack of ideas.

The game could learn from its pint-sized protagonist. [Dec 2015, p.91]

Despite the fact that the game is only two or three hours long (depending on how lost a player gets) I found it to be absolutely unbearable. I became so bored with the lack of interesting things to see and do that I literally put a rubber band on my controller's left stick to keep her moving for long stretches of time, which gives an idea of how interactive Beyond Eyes is. I badly wanted to quit after the first thirty minutes, but I was determined to see where the story was going. Naturally, the ending was a total non-event and not worth the time and aggravation.

The idea was great, but Beyond Eyes can't really convey feelings or even narrate a decent and concrete story. Quite sad, considering its potential.
