May 28, 2019A good session with Beat Saber literally leaves me breathless. When I’m in the groove, swinging red and blue sabers to precisely bisect an onslaught of incoming boxes as fast as I can might be as close to the feeling of being a Jedi at a rave as I’ll ever come. This challenging rhythm game is definitely a little light on tracks out of the box, but what’s there is both catchy and highly replayable due to the way its scoring system encourages pinpoint accuracy and followthrough, plus a handful of alternate modes to play them on.

CD-ActionMar 25, 2019Regardless of the platform (PC or PS4) Beat Saber is one of the best VR games ever created. I know that slashing flying cubes with lightsabers might not sound like much fun, but believe me that it is, in no small part thanks to the fact that your movements are recreated in the virtual world perfectly. [02/2019, p.33]

Mar 31, 2019Anyone can play and look cool with this instant-classic VR rhythm game. The PS4 version is great, but the PSVR exclusive content does not offer that much appeal.
-
Jan 9, 2019Beat Saber is possible the best VR experience ever made. It is an incredibly satisfying rhythm game which uses the immersion of VR to evoke a sense of scale, power and energy that hugely enhances the underlying gameplay loop. The mechanics, music and VR environment tap into something deep in your psyche that creates an irresistibly fun and empowering experience.

Jan 7, 2019Beat Saber comes at the end of a really important year for the PSVR, with games like Tetris Effect, Moss, and Astro Bot Rescue Mission giving renewed life to the two-year old device. These games — but especially Beat Saber — are the best evidence for VR being more than a promising but ultimately niche technology. It has mass appeal and gameplay that just about anyone can enjoy.
-
Jan 3, 2019Beat Saber is a rhythm game that’s both simple and fun. Unfortunately, its soundtrack is very limited at the moment.
-
Dec 20, 2018Beat Saber is, to put it simple, one of the best VR games we have ever tried so far, and one of the coolest and most rewarding music games ever. The soundtrack is overall very good, but unfortunately a little bit limited for a game of its kind, and we could also regret the absence of an online VS mode, but no good reasons shall turn you away from this fantastic rhythm game, which is an instant classic for virtual reality.
-
Dec 5, 2018Beat Saber is a must-play for anyone interested in virtual reality, but not for the reasons we typically associate with the platform. It won’t make you crane your neck to take in the majesty of your surroundings, but Beat Saber uses VR to place you into the music and taps into your carnal desire to hit things with swords. Years into its life, the gaming public is still unsure of this new way to play video games, but Beat Saber has the potential to convince skeptics to take another look.
-
Nov 21, 2018Simple, fun, and addictive, Beat Saber has a hook that will immediately grab players and keep them engaged for a long time.
-
Nov 20, 2018Beat Saber's signature VR rhythm gameplay feels solid on PSVR, even at the highest levels of difficulty. This is a highly active game that not only creates a great sense of embodiment, but can also be a decent workout. The new Campaign mode adds surprising life to the game, and modifiers combined with objectives can bring new meaning and challenge to songs you thought you knew forwards and backwards. A roster of 16 quality songs is a good start, and the company plans to add more over time, but how much additional songs will cost and whether or not they come quickly enough to keep players satiated in the long term is still up in the air.
-
Jan 14, 2019Beat Saber is pure fun. One of the best VR games you can play, great to play alone or with friends. We need more songs, but apparently they are on their way.
-
Dec 24, 2018Beat Saber is an exhilarating experience which boosts excellent music and makes great use of the VR. It's so good we just wish it had more content to sink our teeth into.
-
Dec 21, 2018With this PS4 version which skips the modding part of the PC version, Beat Saber brings a new and unsuccessful campaign mode along with some new exclusive tracks. Still, the concept is amazing, the game content is decent and the PS Move are doing great without being perfect.
-
Dec 3, 2018Beat Saber has just about everything I want from a rhythm game.
-
Nov 20, 2018Beat Saber on PSVR is exquisite. Overall it’s a more polished, feature-packed, and expanded version of the Early Access PC title, while still retaining the core of what made it a viral sensation in the first place. I rarely missed the better tracking afforded by the Rift, Vive, and Windows VR platforms and actually found myself enjoying the crisp visuals and appropriately shaped PS Move controllers throughout it all. The new tracks are almost all excellent, the campaign mode is a great addition, and it overall feels like a complete game now.
-
Nov 23, 2018Music and sweaty lightsaber choreographies merge into an impressive VR experience that unfortunately lacks content and song-import for your favorite music.
-
Jan 22, 2019An incredibly fun and addictive rhythm game that takes the premise of the genre and skyrockets it to new heights with the use of VR technology and the Move Controllers. Sadly, the PS4 version lacks the rich content for the PC version that is created by the community.
-
Jan 14, 2019Beat Saber is one of the most fun VR-games to play on PlayStation 4. The combination of lightsabers, great music and intense virtual reality is pure gold.
-
Edge MagazineJan 4, 2019Beat Saber never reaches the same transcendental moments of synaesthesia as Tetris Effect, but it does make you feel like a genuine participant in the music. [Issue#328, p.120]
-
Dec 20, 2018An unmissable game for any owner of PlayStation VR.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 12, 2018Feel the laser burn with this neon-lined rhythm game. Just make sure you have enough room to swing a cat strapped to a laser sabre when you play this one. [Issue#157, p.96]
-
Dec 12, 2018Beat Saber is a thrilling rhythm game that makes ideal use of virtual reality to envelop you in an enthralling tour down the coloured highway, time after time. We suspect it’s the kind of game that will resonate with just about anyone, VR sceptic or not, and it’s an essential addition to any PlayStation VR owner's library.
-
Nov 26, 2018Beat Saber is an exhilarating rush and an exhausting game to play in the best way.
-
Nov 25, 2018Imaginative use of VR to make one of the best new music games of the generation, and which also manages to be the best Star Wars game never made.
