This game is incredible and follows up BF4 nicely (we won't talk about Hardline...). The graphics are incredible and the game play is tight. I'm glad a shooter has gone back to its roots instead of progressing into the future with every new release - I'm talking about you COD!

It's a true first person shooter that allows skill to come from the tactical thought processes of the player, rather than on the reliance of gun play we see in other franchises which most often rewards the player holding the weapon loaded with the most game breaking perks. The campaign stories are both beautiful, well thought out, and often criticized for their one flaw. Leaving the player wanting to do so many more!!! Classes and squads matter, and each person is a valuable member of the team. I say this with the understanding that many players however may not know their value, or how to utilize the tools given to them provided they choose a class that benefits both their team and skill set. Regardless, Battlefield one is a joy to play, and will leave anyone breathless at the scope and beauty of the sights and experiences they are sure to have in almost every playlist available. Expand

An interesting campaign sample, but does not let deep. But a great multiplayer! In this field is the best warfare FPS of all time in the present. A lot of variety and a lot of action in a game with an enveloping environment, enriched with excellent music, well framed for the time of the 1st World War. Innovative and odd!

Having it take place in a time period that is often not touched by developers is a welcome change of pace. It has a decent amount of content to keep one invested, and the two map packs that recently came out change enough to make them good, if unnecessary editions to the game.

In terms of graphics, the game is gorgeous, and often times looks like it could be photo realistic. There is some minor issues with character model glitches but other than that it is still fantastic. The sound design is great as well, with all the guns sounding like they have real firepower behind them.

The gameplay is also very good, though a bit arcade-y. Being able to drive and fly in vehicles from the time period is great, and the shooting is a lot of fun, but the prevalence of automatic firearms is a bit odd considering the time period wouldn't have that many and mostly had bolt action rifles. The spawning of vehicles and planes from outside the map is also something I'm personally not a fan of, as I like having the vehicles on map to get in at any time. But the overall gameplay is fun and is challenging enough to make you want to come back.

The Campaign, or "War Stories", are an interesting addition. Most of them are pretty well made, having a good production value behind them, though I feel like focusing on only 1 of the campaigns, and making it longer and have better character development would've been a better idea. The lack of any campaign for the central powers was also a missed opportunity, especially considering the rather "Gray" nature of the first World War.

Overall, it is a fun game and a nice addition to the Battlefield franchise, and I think we will see a rise in shooting games from the world war period again due to its success, and nowadays, I think this will be a welcome change.

Battlefield 1 is the latest in Dice's FPS franchise and the development team have taken the game back to World War I setting going back to classic world war shooters of the 90s and 00s

    Positives:

+Awesome World War I setting. Have been saying for years that World War I is an underused era for First Person Shooters and while its not as realistic as other World War I games Dice have done a great job in making it feel like World War I with the environments, vehicles and weapons.

+ The new Tanks. The new tanks are a fantastic addition to the franchise. Choosing what tank best suits your strategy or the teams needs adds variety to the game modes.

+ New airships/train/battleship reinforcements. These new additions can really help during a game in which would usually come off as vastly imbalanced. Depending on the gap in the scores the losing team in certain modes gets reinforcements in the shape of a tank/ an airship or a train depending on the map. I rarely see a game with a large score gap as the reinforcement vehicles do a great job of balancing up the teams.

+ The new bayonet charging mechanic. A nice new mechanic that suits the World War I era as bayonets were commonly used. Its also a good last resort weapon if you run out of ammo and the other time you would have to be close to your enemy but you can switch between using a normal melee and the charging bayonet.

+ Single player. Over the years the battlefield series has lost its footing with the single player campaign trying to duplicate what COD did with modern warfare only for it to seem badly written or over patriotic. The BF1 campaign is a surprisingly good campaign certainly making it one of the best campaigns of battlefield in recent years.

+Soundtrack. The new soundtrack is an absolute wonder in this game and really adds to the games and adrenaline rush you have while playing. I still sometimes get goosebumps when charging over the hills and the heroic soundtrack blares out over the gunfire. Its such a fantastic feeling.

+Operations mode. A new mode that allows players to relive certain battles of World War I with having two teams of attack and defence with the attacking team's objective to capture all objectives which is spread out over two maps. The attacking team gets 3 battalions to capture all objectives to win the round.

    Negatives:

    - Environments are too open for snipers. It seems that Dice tried a mix of open areas mixed with closed village quarters but unfortunately even the villages are too open for snipers and since World War I has mainly rifles it makes it all too easy for long range weapons to hit their target.

    - Operations mode was fun for the first week but has suddenly turned to become a very frustrating mode which is largely imbalanced. The attacking team can barely make it past the first 2 objectives in most maps and 19 out of 20 times they will lose. A lot of it is down to the inept players who don't think about any strategy but it always ends the same way. Dice will need to balance it out if they want people to continue to play it.

    - The campaign has too many characters and is too short. Only 5 hours long with 5 different characters it tries to make the player care about the characters in the stories but when the stories are so short and there are too many characters it is hard to feel any empathy towards them.

    - Locking squads is a baffling decision by Dice. I don't understand the point of allowing players to lock squads. It completely disregards the point of teamwork and the squads itself. Most of the time I play I see 1 or 2 players in a squad by themselves and its locked. Just makes no sense and needs to be taken out.

    - Frostbite physics are still awkward. So many times my player has refused to jump a small object or get stuck in something tiny. The driving physics for the motorcycles and trucks are really weird and the handling is all over the place.

    - Gas grenade is abused. Anywhere around an objective players throw 4-5 gas grenades and while everyone puts on masks it feels like the battlefront game where everyone was hip firing and hoping to kill the other player first.

    - Unable to spawn on squad member under fire. I don't understand why I cant. By all means warn me but surely its my decision whether I want to spawn on a squad member being shot at.

    - Skipping the spawn waiting time. Another mechanic which allows the player to skip the re-spawn waiting time only to then wait to re-spawn at a chosen location. Absolutely zero point to it and players don't wait for medics and instantly re-spawn which discourages medics to bother being medics.

Overall the first 20 hours of this game are a blast and I had a lot of fun with it but over the last 10-15 hours I am enjoying it less and less and I played over 300 hours of Battlefield 4 and it never bored me. Its a step in the right direction as I love the World War settings but there's a lot to be fixed as well.

It feels so authentic and real and terrifying. The graphics and sound are stunning. Maps are brilliant and require skill, map knowledge and team work to accomplish objectives.

Operations is the epitome of grand scale warfare and feels like you are part of a massive war.

Single player is well written, voice acted and plays well.

Buy this over COD! It is by far the better game offering so much more depth.

Snipers will have their way with you for sure as I can tell no distinguishable difference from getting shot at 50 yards or 1000 and on the big maps, and they are big, the distance you run only to be sniped 100 yards from the objective can be a big ol B. However, it makes you stop and plan your route unlike the linear CoD maps, and that gives Battlefield the realistic feel the fans have come to love. I can feel $150 worth of DLC coming, though, and that sucks.
Bottom line is this game deserves at least a rental before making a final decision, but if you are like me, and love the series? Then purchasing it is a no brainer!

It's single player campaign stories, called War Stories, are told through the eyes of 6 different people all fighting in the same war which was spread throughout Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa. The characters and stories are well written and well acted, with a couple exceptions. (The Australian kid, did not sound Australian)

The single player campaign feels as if Dice were not willing to gamble the time and money on developing a deeper and longer story, as the Battlefield franchise is mostly aimed towards the multiplayer fanbase. The single player campaign is a great way to teach new players the mechanics of multiplayer without boring you with a shallow narrative but I am still waiting for something to top the story of 'Brother's In Arms - Hell's Highway'.
I just hope the developers at Dice hear enough positive feedback to maybe focus on developing a full story next time around, because it was really enjoyable.

The sound design and visuals are the best I have seen and heard in a video game. From the sound of tanks moving closer, to the silhouettes of enemies piercing through fog, to the sound of bombs falling from planes overhead, to the massive destruction they bring to the landscape and buildings around you. Simply amazing.

As for the multiplayer, it is everything the single player campaign has to offer all condensed into amazingly designed maps which are a joy to play. This game is a must have for anyone who loves FPS and even for new players to the genre, I would highly recommend this.

When I first played this game I felt frustrated. It felt like your playing your match with your least favorite gun.
-the hit detection is not absolute.
-crazy recoil, machinegun shoots like UZI
-slow reload speed (some rifles reloads like pump shotguns indivisual bullet reloads)
-you cannot slide 2 meter anymore since there is no boost pack and you cannot jump 10 meters and dunk on enemy's face. The movement feels somewhat more restrict than other fps we recently played.

YEAH I was so used to futuristic fps too and forgot that glory feelings of realistic war game. I count my bullets because long reload can kill me, I don't spray because it gets no where, (remember vmp, vesper, hvk, etc all those ultra guns that can kill anyone from close to middle range by spraying? It won't happen here. Your holding guns with 5-to 10 bullets capacity you will want every bullet counts)

Yeah so if your used to futuristic shooters like my self it will be frustrated at first. Bare with it for some time , I'm sure you will get used to it and play the first most realistic world war shooter till date.

Beautiful graphics, more destruction than ever, great atmosphere, well put together maps and some fresh multiplayer modes like Operations and War Pigeons. Also a decent single player is included. While the BF franchise failed miserable when it came to SP experience in previous iterations, Dice now hits back in full force with a strong narrative covering the awe and agony of several characters.

Operations feels like the new main Battlefield mode. A full match spans across multiple games, spread over 2 or 3 different maps. The full map is divided into multiple sectors, where the attacking team must capture all points within a sector in order to move onto the next. When all sectors are captured, the battle moves onto the next map. The attacking team only has a limited number of tickets (respawns), and loses when it fails to capture all sectors before they run out of tickets. The attacking team gets three chances. After failing a first time, the ticket counter is reset, a special vehicle like an airship is brought in for support and the fight starts from the last taken sector. Each operation is surrounded with a narrative giving context to the battle, and how different outcomes could have changed the course of the war drastically. This emphasizes how well finished this game is.

+ Best graphics ever seen for almost fully destructible environments
    + Music
+ Atmosphere. Be ready for some bone chilling moments
+ Both SP and MP well worked out
+ A lot of good MP maps. I didn't find any that I don't really like, which is a first for me considering all possible MP shooters.
    + Operations mode
+ Lots of experience customization possible (like crosshair color and thickness to name one)

    - Framedrops in Conquest mode (only occasional in other large modes)
    - Aim assist is a little overdone. Should be more subtle when activated
    - Laggy menus

I cannot imagine the sheer man-hours necessary to craft a game of this depth and scope. The impeccable attention to detail and intent to honor the men and women who were involved in this horrific period really is incredible. I've never seen effort like this represented in gaming. DICE, once again, have out-done themselves. The SP campaign, for a change, is heartfelt and exquisite. The cut scenes are extremely well done and the gameplay is superb. But, as with every BF game, MP is why I pay the price for admission. And it is wonderful. The sound....the destruction...the deliciously bone-thrumming quality of the gunplay/gun handling. I don't know how they do it, but DICE dishes out the best overall feel for gunplay I've ever experienced in FPS gaming. And BF1 is unique in its representation of this feel. The pace is different and more languid, without being boring...more classically cinematic. The feeling of antiquation is there, expressing a period of armaments so far removed from modern day, that they feel almost alien. And it works. When I play...I feel transported to another time. It's exciting and new...different in the best possible way.

When I heard DICE was going back to WWI for their next BF game, I was very concerned. I had an narrow view of that war which amounted to the dull impression of the quagmire of trench warfare. I simply could not conceive of how this era could be made into an interesting video game. Imagine my surprise when firing up BF1 for the first time. Pupils dilating and being swept away for hours in that timeless bliss that is immersive gaming. I'm looking forward to years of that feeling with this game. I'm a happy gamer, to say the least :)

From the jarring intro to the serialized short stories, DICE really took this in an awesome direction. The gameplay is great even if the AI leaves a bit to be desired. The immersion here is off the charts, with graphics that rival Uncharted 4 and likely the best sound design ever.

The multiplayer is the clear focus here, and it's simply incredible. The best Battlefield game and the best FPS since Call of Duty 4, if not ever. Operations mode is awesome and filled with epic moments. I loved the St. Quentin into Amiens operation. While on the topic of Amiens, it is clearly the standout map of the current group. Plugged into good gaming speakers, this game (and Amiens in particular) is a marvel. Whistles blowing as you charge the enemy, the screams of the dying, things exploding and collapsing left and rights, bullets whizzing past. The multiplayer is more immersive than most games singe player campaigns. It's that good. Getting kills is incredibly satisfying as well, especially with the infantry variants in the scout class.

There has never been a more immersive, visceral, and satisfying FPS.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Battlefield 1 is one of the most amazing game that I ever had, compare with the Call of duty, this is definitely really worth it, the graphics looks so real and story mode is incredible. I really recommend this game comparing to Infinite Warfare and its classic World War 1 game. but I think the price is expensive. but I think is worth to play :) Expand

Chaos. Bombs. Explosions. Chaos. Airplanes. Bombs. Explosions. Tanks. Bombs. Explosions. Chaos.

It's just like that every single multiplayer round. Overwhelming randomness with no rewards. This game lacks everything i like online shooters for. No depth, no tactics (if you believe you playing with your four mates in squad can change the outcome of 64 player battle then think again).

Chaos and randomness with no depth. It gets boring very fast. Character/account progression doesnt exist on this game. Rank 10 weapons are mediocre and often worse than the beginners ones (cough cough medic class). I know for sure i wont be getting season pass since new expansions will most likely be just the same chaos and explosions but on just different maps. Money wasted.

This is a gorgeously crafted game that unfortunately could not go beyond the flaws of its genre. I will keep this brief.

As has been said numerous times already, Dice has indeed pulled off its bet of a WW1 shooter, especially in terms of presentation. Graphics, sound design, level design and animation... fear not, this is all AAA level. Weather effects are especially impressive.

As has been said numerous times already, Dice has indeed pulled off its bet of a WW1 shooter, especially in terms of presentation. Graphics, sound design, level design and animation... fear not, this is all AAA level. Weather effects are especially impressive. However, any real semblance to WW1 stops here. In truth, despite a high level of polish and some originality, Battlefield 1 is still a more refined Call of Duty of sort.

Multiplayer is the core of this game and there is some welcomed variety in gameplay. Modes go from the epic, (the new multi-map Operations), to the annoyingly similar to Call of Duty (Team Deathmatch). I will not talk about War Pigeons.

Multiplayer's problem is that you'll still have to try to survive among the same confusing and erratic cat herd. There is no (possible) coordination among teams or squads (unless you play with friends, which is fun). You will get shot at from across the map. Tank drivers will drive with no consideration of you being in there. Pilots will crash the plane in the first 60 seconds about 50% of the time. You will learn to never count on medics reviving you. All the while, the immortal words of Dwight Schrute will echo in your head "We are no more a team than the people staying at a hotel are a team". Oh and that invisible grey blob hiding among grey rubble will shoot you right in the head.

Even the somewhat interesting but too short to be engaging mini-campaigns bear little ressemblance to how WW1 was actually fought. Unless you enjoy this kind of multiplayer experience (which it definitely succeeds at but does not transcend), I suggest you pass on this game -- even at a lower price than launch.

The best part of the multiplayer? It's really mind boggling how well they have captured the essence of real warfare, and what it might have been in WW1. Basically, if you are an idiot who runs around above trenches with their potato grip SMG, you're going to die. If you play smart, and calculate your movements, you'll be consistently at the top of the charts. The less you die, the better your performance.

Why this game is not a 10 is that there are some odd design choices. The menus are atrocious, reminiscent of Windows 10, laggy as hell, and lack certain functionalities in key places. It feels like the menus were not properly tested before launch.

Secondly, there are some balancing issues currently, that are in no way game breaking, but should be addressed post haste. My personal pet peeve is how strong the medic class is right now in terms to available equipment and guns.

Overall, although using the horrendous cash-grab tactics, this is an excellent game.

The single player campaign is fresh and original, the way it's been constructed into 5 mini stories as opposed to one new one. this has you going from extreme to extreme, always in a different style of action. from driving a tank to flying a plane to sneaking around the desert, it has something for everyone. This creates powerful little set pieces and being all based on real events, the characters and their plights resonate with the player.
That said, it's al a little too short, at just around 6 hours it's not enough, but heck that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a breath of fresh air in an era of stale modern shooters.
The multiplayer sticks to the tried and tested battlefield formula and delivers much more, classics like conquest and rush return and an even bigger mode, operations will test even the best of players/. I never did like these huge maps as their often chaotic, being spawned into a crumbling building or running all the way to an objective to get picked off by some fella who's figured out how to perform 2000m headshots. Still, as a TDM fan I'm covered, whilst out of place the TDM still plays like battlefield and still feels great, on fantastic, dynamic maps with awesome guns.
The visuals, for a console edition, are sublime, crisp textures and fantastic lighting and insane draw distance, I can image this looking ridiculous on PlayStation pro. Sadly having witnessed it on ultra at 1440p on a gaming rig, PS4 doesn't even come close. The sound are fantastic and guns sound and feel spot on, with screams of agony and the sounds of distant fire fights this game truly captures the essence and feel of war and damn it feels good to play.
Campaign 8/10 dropped some points for length
Multiplayer 7/10 this is a personal rating - I just suck at the huge game modes

    Realism 10/10

Right off the bat I knew I was going to enjoy the game and how the controls felt, I've been playing BF's since Bad Company, but truly got into them during BF3 and the controls felt right on par with the prior BF games. Flying in the 3 airplanes that they give you is fluid and much easier than in previous games and I've found myself crashing into tall trees or sides of mountains much, much less. The vehicles, which I've spent most of my time in the heavy tank, feel like they should, they're slow, but sturdy and they get the job done with whichever vehicle you choose. Say you want to get around the map quicker in the light tank because you can drive down allies better than in a land ship ( I like to call it the land shark) or heavy, you have that option. Then you have the land ship which is great for squads who are communicating due to there being two heavy guns that can take out tanks much quicker than the other two options. And then there are the infantry controls, which have not changed much from the prior BF's and feel great to control.

The weapons that are given this time around do take some time to get used to, you're not going to be able going in guns blazing with the medics weapons, but are very effective at medium range. The assault class can be very useful for taking out tanks and the trench guns/shotguns are both great options for closer quarter maps and sections. I haven't played very much support yet, but it's mostly the light machine guns that we've been used to in prior games. Then the scout class, some of the options are more effective depending on the circumstances or the map. There is a rifle that does not have a scope, but can down enemies in one shot even when you're not hitting them in the head, but there are also choices for long range scenarios. I've found a gun for most of the classes that I enjoy using, I just wish we could have more options, since it seems like we have 4-5 choices of guns total per class and then they just added different attachments to call it something else. Last on the classes, the special classes that randomly spawn on the maps are a great addition which add more depth to the game, my favorite being the flamethrower class because when is it not fun to burn your foes in a game?

We have our normal BF game modes such as Rush and Conquest and then the other normal FPS modes, but they've added a new game mode War Pigeons. This mode is where each team is trying to get to the pigeon that spawns on the map first, collect it, and then run out into the open to let it fly away ( it can be shot down by the enemy ), and ultimately call in an artillery strike on your enemies. Then we have Operations, this mode ( or multiplayer story ) is a game mode where one team is attacking different objectives while the other team is defending. It sounds pretty basic, but they've incorporated a story for each different map and these games can sprawl across multiple levels depending on if the attackers are doing well enough to advance to each new area. The defenders each get 3 tries to take all of the areas in the map and after the first time the attackers are unsuccessful, they're given one of the 3 behemoth 'vehicles' which can be a zeppelin that flies over the map, a train than has massive guns and mortars attached to it, or a huge ship called the Dreadnought. This mode has so far been my favorite and make for some epic battles when those behemoths spawn.

The graphics and sound are on par with some of the other games on the market right now and the scale of some of the maps in this game made for some of the prettiest sights in games I've seen in a long time. The guns sound like I'm actually shooting them and I love the iconic sound of when you shoot your last bullet in some of the semi-automatic guns.

My grief with the game so far are the amount of game modes, or lack there of , we were given for launch and then the fewer amount of guns we see here. ( Yes, I understand the time setting ) Here's hoping we can see some really great maps and modes in the DLC, even though that'll sadly split up the multiplayer into people who purchased the DLC and those who just wanted to stick with the base game... Maybe Dice will realize this isn't the best business model and could start taking pointers from CD Projeckt Red.

Overall: Great multiplayer that could be a full package with the controversial DLC model they've chosen again this time, that has great replay value. I recommend this to fans of the previous BFs and new timers looking for a solid FPS to play this fall.

Battlefield 1 is one of the best looking shooters to date. I play the game on my PS4 but even on that it is stunning. Complaining about lag or saying that any shooter in the last 10 years looks better suggests you need a better PC.. The game is beautiful and plays fantastic. True enough it's tougher to hit your target without red dots, stabilizers, etc. is challenging but considering the game is set in WWI that's only part of its realism. Battlefield 1 is less forgiving that its competition but the sheer magnitude of its maps and multiplayer fun is unparalleled. I have played a lot of different shooters from Black, Killzone, CoD to Battlefield and Battlefield 1 is by no means perfect but it is an absolutely great game with amazing visuals and good clean fun.
I suggest people that hate the game to turn to CoD to have fun and leave semi-realistic shooters like Battlefield to the people that love them. By all means rate the game anyway you like but don't give it a 10 (because its not perfect) and don't give it a 1 (just because you have beef with EA or hate Battlefield).
Rate the game because you want to contribute not play fanboy or hater..

This is the most fun I've had with any multi-player game in ages... maybe ever, and the solo campaign is excellent as well. I haven't turned into a CoD hater, but this is a case of the long time #1 selling FPS becoming stagnate while the primary competitor is hungry, innovative and willing to take risks. Battlefield 1 deserves to be genre leader with this entry. Dice brings back Battlefield with an all new installment in the franchise, taking us all the way back to World War 1. World War 1 was the world that shook and changed the world, it was the said to be the wars to end all wars, does this installment live up to its potential or does it die in the trenches? let's find out.

So let us start off with the campaign, in Battlefield 1's campaign you will play as six different soldiers, a British tank driver, an American pilot, an Italian brute soldier looking for his brother, a female soldier working alongside Lawrence of Arabia, legend of the Australian army and, an African American foot soldier fighting deep within the trenches of Europe. Across these journeys, on different continents of the world, you will experience different things like tank battles in a town square in France, dog fights over the fields of Germany, horseback fighting in the middle east. During the course of the campaign in just about every section, you will end up doing some stealth just so you do not get obliterated by every soldier in the area.

The campaign is not where it is at in this game though while being very good it's multiplayer that makes you really appreciate the game. The multiplayer consist of an all new operations mode which is what I have played the most, in a nutshell, operations is rush mode but on a bigger scale. The multiplayer gives you that true sense of what it was like being in the war at the time the dirty warfare of the trenches and, being in no man's land trying to pick off your opponent. You feel a shot of adrenaline pump through your veins when running from an opponent shooting at you through the trenches and the muddy field or, watching as an enemy tank rolls right over you while you hide out in a hole in the ground.

Battlefield 1 may have taken us back to a war that has not been done in many games to this scale, but it's a step in the right direction for Dice and EA. The campaign was short but sweet with very little issues and, the online is amazing and truly one of a kind experience that you won't find anywhere else.

    Battlefield 1: 9.5/10
    Excellent job Dice and EA.

This game as perfectly balanced a lot of things such as the weapons and vehicles. Leveling up also seems to be easier than the past games that took forever to get something of worth. The soundtrack and story campaign was orchestrated beautifully and made me want to listen to it again and again. But however this game does have a few flaws. The story/campaign was a bit shorter than I expected for a non perfectionist player and there were only about 50ish weapons in total compared to the countless offered in the past games. Also, the lack of customization in the whole weapons concept concerned me a bit other than the skins (Which are great as they aren't too flashy and "CoDish" and are how weapons skins are supposed to be like.) The lack of vehicles also concerned me but that is understandable. Overall. This game was worth every single penny I paid Expand

With the direction the COD franchise is going as of right now this is a good alternative, and if you don't like WWI then fine wait for Battlefield V or buy Battlefield 1943. If you like modern day shoot for Battlefield 4 or Bad Company 2.
Now on to the actual game itself, while I have not finished the War Stories they suffice for a good 5 hour distraction from multiplayer. Multiplayer is fantastic offering a variety of tactical choices, but don't rush headfirst into battle like I did at first because you need your teammates as they are essential to your survival. There is four classes Assault, Medic, Support, and Scout. Assault is more focused on as you can clearly tell, assault, it offers a variety of different guns focused on this type of behavior everything from shotguns to automatic weapons and more, this class is also essential to taking down vehicles as they offer rocket guns and anti-tank grenades.
Medics do as they do they are medics, they are more focused on semi-auto rifles as far as guns go, but will help you on the battlefield as they can drop med packs that will heal you faster, they also have a needle that revives players that have fallen in battle.
Support is focused on LMGs for their guns, they can drop ammo packs that will give players more ammo, And that's the jist of them.
Scouts are more accustomed to bolt-action rifles either scoped or unscoped. They have special bullets that will damage vehicles but won't do much, you can also cycle the zeroing distance on most rifles.
Each class has the ability to spot players by pressing R1, and they also have the ability to put on a gas mask by pressing up on the d-pad.

The actual score I would give to this game is 9.5 but, anyways, best Battlefield game since Bad Co, 2. Great history mode, nice graphics. Fun to play. There are some glitches EA, or DICE, could fix, but they do not affect the gameplay. WWI plot is creative and amazing, there is historical inaccuracy, indeed, but the game itself is great.

Battlefield 1 is a fantastic return to form for EA, having taken a different route away from modern and futuristic warfare and going back BEFORE the era that made this franchise a hit.

In all honesty though, for a game centered on World War I, the developers have taken the liberty of using a lot of (functional) automatic weapons and some high capacity semi-automatic rifles. That historical inaccuracy aside, the variety of weapons does keep the gameplay from being dull. It's probably better to think of this as a WW2 game with a WW1 skin on it.

Graphics and sound design are outstanding, as to be expected from DICE. More importantly, the game is not rife with bugs and glitches like the release of Battlefield 4 and Hardline. The game also has a surprisingly engrossing single-player campaign mode, where you see the point of view of old soldiers fighting in different theatres of the great war. What the campaign does right is give you an opportunity to operate the vehicles of the game, a lesson they've learned from BF4's lackluster campaign.

Operations Mode is a relatively simple, yet enticing multiplayer mode that plays somewhat like Rush, but on a much larger scale, operating on multiple maps with an overarching narrative. This change truly makes you feel like you're fighting as a part of something much bigger, allowing you to be absorbed by the conflict in hand.

A few things I do dislike are the certain weapons that take an enormous amount of grinding to unlock, like the Hellreigel SMG, one of the most effective weapons in the game. Certain areas of a map (ie. Argonne Forest) have very narrow choke points that essentially become a game of "Who has more grenades?" and can become a frustrating standstill. Remember Operation Locker and Metro in BF4? Yeah, it gets that bad.

Argonne Forest aside, the designs for the maps are outstanding. There's a natural feel and flow to the landscape, where some areas have a natural advantage and disadvantage without feeling broken or artificial. Hopefully DICE's future works in the franchise are influenced by BF1's map design.

BF1 is the most exciting shooter I've played in years. I've had a blast traversing the fields on foot, and especially in the war vehicles that were in use during the great war (war horse ftw!) Almost everything DICE did with this game is a step in the right direction, and I hope they continue down this path of excellence.

I love settings back to WW1. Battlefield was always brilliant in multiplayer, but campaigns was usually not that great (if it had it at all). Here I liked campaign very much and liked Idea to make it in 6 different settings and characters. Multiplayer take a lot from previous BF's with some nice aditions. Generally, best BF after Bad Company 2!

WOW! This game not only looks amazing but the gameplay is equally as impressive. For anyone who has been a fan of Battlfield in the past will certainly want to pick this title up. Personally I enjoy the more basic weapons and vehicle's as in past installments the guns and attachments got alittle out of hand.

The maps are large and immersive. I can't wait to see the maps in the future.

Apart from a few people taking advantage of hacks, the online community is very reliable. i typically only play conquest however the various game modes keep replay high. Like the other Battlefields; the more you play and help your squad the better. It limits the amount of "lone wolves" out there just doing their own thing. The tanks and planes add a fun aspect and nothing is better than taking down an entire building with a bomb drop or perfectly placed tank shell.

Often times I find myself stopping to just simply take in everything that is going on around me. It's simply the best war shooter available! I would give it a 10 but the sometimes long load times and sporadic server issues drop it to a 9 in my book.

This game is more or less an amazing FPS game, if not the best imo this generation. For once, the battlefield series has a great story, and add its signature multiplayer greatness and jaw dropping graphics, you get a surprisingly great game. Only problem is that it does feel to similar to BF4 in terms of gameplay, but otherwise, buy it

Battlefield 1 is my first ever Battlefield experience, and I approached the game expecting an authentic and emotional take on WW1 from it's campaign. I am disappointed after having played all War Stories. It started out super impressive and promising with a sombre and serious tone, moving quotes and a grim prologue. I was really hoping for more stuff along those lines. I am disappointed after having played all War Stories. It started out super impressive and promising with a sombre and serious tone, moving quotes and a grim prologue. I was really hoping for more stuff along those lines. What I took away from the rest of the campaign is very cliche and cheesy stuff. Tank mission reminded me of Fury which was OK. The flying mission was grand and bombastic, very Hollywood. The Runner mission is very typical of a veteran taking a liking to a private soldier, assaulting a fort on his own. Very predictable. The Italian Iron Man is just completely ridiculous. The Arabian mission is just Deus Ex in WW1. Most of these missions have a one man vs whole world feel to them, with superhuman stealth sections, and overpowered guns. I didn't even bother completing the last war story cos I was just so turned off by the non-immersion of the campaign. I just finished watching Band of Brothers and The Pacific, and World War themes always focus around brotherhood and carmaraderie, with human atrocity lessons and philosophical ideas. This is just action, over the top heroism and unauthentic take on war. Games like Wolfenstein, destiny, titanfall, etcaynget away with this cos it fits their respective themes but WW1?? Come on, I expected much much more. What I got was just annoyance and irritance at a missed opportunity to deliver a poignant WW1 experience.

    Graphics though, are AMAZING!!

I didnt play much multiplayer, except for deathmatch and capture the flag. Kinda fun but my MP time is completely for Destiny. I am definitely missing out on the complete Battlefield experience but i really bought this game for a WW1 single player experience, and it failed to deliver that to me.

If you're buying this for the campaign only, i highly recommend renting it.

Campaign is short, but very decent, they tell good stories and enjoyed playing them. But this is not why most people buy battlefield, including me. The multiplayer is the reason... and well I haven't got bored of it since playing on it for a few months, and that to me is a big thing because I get bored easily. So that's why I give this a 10.

If not for greedy EA and their Premium Pass (Wait for DLC or buy PP), which is not all bought and not small bugs after the start of the game (a curved sight, it is impossible to use weapons after lifting you by a medic, etc.) would put 10/10.

First of, the story is way to short. You follow a few people's stories throughout the front from France to the Ottoman empire but most of them don't have much or any character development and that means you can't grow attached to them and feel what they feel in that moment. The first two story missions are the exceptions with the prologue having real emotion in it and the first real storyFirst of, the story is way to short. The first two story missions are the exceptions with the prologue having real emotion in it and the first real story having long enough to develop characters. It also doesn't have any story from the central powers (Germany, Austro-Hungary and the Ottomans) which means that they are portrayed as pure evil like you would portray the Nazi's in a WW2 game which is horribly wrong. It stands as a nice piece of tutorial for multiplayer though.

The multiplayer is very fun with each map needing different tactics and weapons if you want your team to succeed and win. It has a few game modes with each being very different but some aren't as good as others. Operations is the best game mode with it feeling like an actual battle with progress but War Pigeons is kind of bland but can be chaotic fun. There are a variety of weapons for each class but it is definitely less than what you had on offer in BF3 and BF4. Tank and plane combat is really fun with each vehicle felling powerful and weak all the time. The destruction is brilliant in this game with small bits of wall falling of and even injuring people. However some maps favor certain weapons to much like Argonne forest favoring shotguns and Suez favoring snipers, which can lead to so much rage because you are always killed by the same things.

It is the difficulty of BF1 that makes it so compelling. It is incredibly inconvenient every time you reload your weapon, and your character takes 30 seconds or so to do it, but at the same time, a little grin creeps on to my face each time it happens. Health is hard to regain, unless you have a medkit, and it is not uncommon to be unable to ADS because of the gasmask on your face, protecting you from a deadly cloud of mustard gas. It's these little details, that make this came so compelling.
The story is incredibly powerful as well. From the opening sequence where you play as about 5 different characters, all of whom inevitably perish, the game powerfully conveys the hopelessness of a war where battlefield tactics had yet to catch up to the death dealing technologies of the period. The Short anthology type stories do a great job of highlighting specific aspects of the war. These stories are extremely moving, as they manage to connect you to the characters and create meaningful development over the course of only three or four levels.
BF1 also features an immensely fun multiplayer. The most enjoyable aspect of which is the new operations feature; a bit of a cross between domination, and rush, with the large scale chaos of conquest. One match will take about 3 rounds, and sometimes moves to a different map. Usually at least once in a course of a match, one side is reinforced by a zeppelin, train, or dreadnought battleship. The scope of the matches is monstrous. Each time you spawn in, the camera zooms into a spot on the map, speaking to how small, helpless, and inconsequential each soldier must have felt; especially when there are things like Zeppelins looming in the sky, raining death on all who dare to venture underneath.
Whether you are a hardcore fps gamer, or someone who is interested in history, and compelling heroism, Bf1 is a mightily entertaining experience.

Complete misfire by EA adding the cosmetic boxes, Battlefield is popular because it isn't COD. and simple things like cosmetics are fairly irrelevant in 64 player game modes on huge maps.

Battlefield 1 imo feels like a "back to the basics" type of fps. No more guns with laser sites, calling in a laser guided missiles from a satellite via computer, or trying to shoot players running on walls. Just your basic run around with the familiar "Battlefield" tradition. All your favorite Battlefield modes are back. Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, etc. My new favorite mode though is operations. I don't want to say what it is because I wan't you to experience it yourself but it is effing awesome! Conquest of coarse has always been my favorite, along with Rush but Operations is a great way to mix it up a bit while adding somewhat of a history lesson. Gun play is great, and I have noticed that with these less reliable, older guns it is not as easy to get a kill as it used to be. The general rate of fire is a bit slower all around. I thought I was going to like all the machine guns a lot more than everything else but honestly the semi-automatics are what I like to use best now, which is weird because I never liked the semi-auto rifles in previous Battlefield games. Only because I was never very good with them. The tanks are pretty cool, all ranging from your giant devastators to your little one man machines. The planes are actually my favorite though. You got your bombers, attack planes and fighter planes. All of which have their advantages. Bombers are slow and heavy but deal an incredible amount of damage with 2 different types of bombs that drop 10's at a time. The attack planes I believe are for attacking ground targets and such, then the fighters are your dog fighting planes. They are super fast with machine guns, and rockets. The rockets are cool because there is no lock on or anything so you genuinely need to time them just right if you intend on hitting enemy fighters, but if you do the enemy does not typically survive. I am sure you all know about the horse by now, which was a bit op in the beta but they have since nerfed a bit so it is not quite as easy to decimate entire teams with nothing but a saber lol. If you have been playing battlefield since the early 2000's I think you will be surprised. The campaign is so far pretty good. It's not a revolutionary style of campaign but it is safe to say that it is the best one since bad company. Battlefield veterans and privates alike i think will love B1. Expand

Now to be honest the highlight for me remains battlefield bad company 2 with the return of the lovable losers in the campaign and the incredibly fun multiplayer. With a ton to unlock, destructible environments, and great large maps with close quarter combat amongst infantry and vehicles abound. The later entries improved on this with an okay story line for single player but ever increasing fun to be found in multiplayer. Now not to say that they did not have issues with glitches, connections, or just plain crashing in the middle of a game. However this was nothing compared to the slow plodding game play in the story mode if I could actually finish a chapter without it constantly crashing and sending me out to the xbox menu screen. I never did finish the story mode due to this issue happening every few minuets could not advance so I decided to switch over to multiplayer. Between the long drawn out operations mode which gives multiple chances for an enemy to take an objective as well as huge support units that can really unbalance the match for defenders. When in control they seemed unresponsive and inaccurate with weapons failing to hit its target over and over. The unlocks are few and far between with only a few unlockable early on with no real progression with the ranking system unlike previous entries. This unfortunately goes right into the battle pack system with the parts of weapons being unlocked rather than an entire firearm. The lack of weapons and gear to unlock makes every unit operate pretty much the same where as in previous entries you could mix and match to find what works best for you. I got none of that in this entry as for the vehicles they handle well for the most part horse took time to get used to the planes still handle like crap but slightly better learning curve. The only positive is the incredible sound design and graphics. Expand
