A good ending to a fantastic trilogy. The game overall is great and I got addicted to it the moment I sat down to play it. Here's my more in-depth review:
    Story:
Great story! Scarecrow was a fantastic villain and his plan, not gonna spoil anything, is actually really clever with good execution. He is believable, really creepy and the performance is very good. He is very threatening and confident for most the greatest deal of the game and I really liked his design. The Arkham Knight was kind of an opposite to him. Where Scarecrow is calculating and intimidating, the Arkham Knight is more of a brute and angry force. They make for a great villain duo, though the reveal of who the Arkham Knight is wasn't that enormous of a surprise, but it is still pretty cool. There is also a lot of mind trickery and really awesome insights into Batman's mind, which stole the show for me. So, overall, the story is really good, but not perfect and Arkham City definitely had a better story.
    Graphics:
Probably the best graphics I've ever seen in a game. Surpasses the Witcher 3 in some ways, but as for the lighting, the Witcher 3 definitely wins.
    Gameplay:
Just as in Arkham City and Arkham Asylum the gameplay is fantastic and flying over the roofs of Gotham is a blast. The Batmobile is a lot of fun to drive. Especially car chases are a lot of fun. Combat is good, but nothing to write home about and it can be incredibly frustrating. Especially one part near the end. The game itself is far too easy, so I recommend playing it on hard.
    World:
The world is beautifully crafted, but doesn't feel incredibly big. There's three islands, each one about as big as Arkham City. The world is packed with stuff to look at and there's plenty of stuff to do. There's several side missions, but nothing too exciting, really. Just your average repetitive missions. So again, nothing to write home about in the side missions.
    Sound:
Sound design is really good and the voice work is absolutely amazing as always. The music is nothing too special. There's no song that'll be stuck in your head for a long time or anything.
    Overall:
It's a really good game, but not as good as we all expected it to be. There's a lot of fantastic stuff in it, but also some missteps, but overall it's quite a good ending to a fantastic series. Definitely worth a buy, but I wouldn't say it'll be my personal Game of the Year for this year. There are games that are going to come out or that have come out that are definitely superior this year, like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 or Xenoblade Chronicle X. Still a fantastic game!

The game itself is good, but there is one really bad flaw. It's locked at 30 FPS. No way to change it! I didn't pay for a next gen console to game at 30 FPS! I'm surprised more are not complaining about this. It really hinders gameplay and the overall feel. Lower the graphics if need be. I'd rather have a fluid gameplay experience than eye candy.

The look and feel of the world is pretty great. But the core movement mechanic (grapple hook + floating down) isn't particularly fun. Here I'm comparing that mechanic to Just Cause, which seemed to really nail it.

Also, the world is pretty empty. Unlke most games where you have a main character running around a city: I expected to see people, well, moving around and doing stuff. Here

Here I'm thinking of Assassin's Creed, which really nailed that. Also, I thought it would be fun to able to stop crimes just by running around the city. But you would need people in the city in order to have that.

Also, there are too many puzzles. Some of the puzzles require you being in your car and moving it around to just the right place, then using your car's grappling hook on just the right object. It seemed like a very trite mechanic, and I was disappointed to see it in such a modern, blockbuster game.

Batman Arkham Knight is a game that improves on the combat and graphics from previous games in the Batman franchise but everything else suffers because of that, the missions are simple and predictable, the bat mobile which is supposed to be a genre defining feature ends up being pointless and repetitive. This game was WAY to hyped!

Batman and batmobile has a impressive synergy and both complete the gameplay experience. Firstly I love this game as I have the previous Arkham games (Origins perhaps being the exception…), the setting, characters and overall feel are unmatched by any other series and I have bene looking forward to playing it for a long time.

The graphics are sublime, the music and other sound works great and I really like how the game progresses meaning you never finding yourself repeating similar tasks, it always feels like you’re moving on to something new.

    That said… There are problems…

Firstly the controls, which they’ve just tried cramming too into. I understand that every new title in a series requires more of everything to meet expectation but it hasn’t been done in the clever manner that we’ve come to expect from Rocksteady who single-handedly invented to the one button combat system. Buttons have moved since previous titles to confusing locations and despite being no newcomer to playing a wide range of games I genuinely have to pause before I do most tasks which breaks the flow of the game and leaves me feeling a little helpless.

Secondly the focus on how to complete certain elements is hugely flawed… The section at Ace Chemicals that requires you to put the car on the lift was fairly straightforward, a little later on you’re required to blow up a wall in the same area… I decided to swoop in from the sky only to realise there were tanks on the other side… So I thought I’d use the lift again, this initially the Batmobile floating completely unaided but after I’d jumped in it fell to the floor… What was required was to use the lift as a ramp to jump the car – now, why would I think that is what was required when I’d used it different only a few minutes previously?

Another area similar to above is where you find yourself in the clock tower which becomes the scene of a flashback, after watching the action unfold it is completely unclear that the player is required to do anything, so I walked around the room mashing the X button only to find that turning completely around changed the scene in front of me… Then I was required to walk to another area and do the same, again no mention of what I was supposed to do was given leading to me walking around the room aimlessly hitting buttons… This lack of guidance very quickly drags the player out of the moment and left me feeling cheated that another cool moment was spoiled by unwarranted frustration.

I admire the scope of the game but even early on it feels like a lot was sacrificed in order to achieve that, clunky game sections and many parts where there is simply no explanation of what is intended of you (I could talk about how the Batmobile needs to be revved *slowly* to power up towers or how it is never explained how to counter the charging enemies with the red flash above them etc…) and it’s for that reason that I find myself at least a little disappointed that after so many delays that Rocksteady have failed to fully capture what made the previous games special…

Writing this as someone who is not a Batman fan, has never even seen a Batman movie, and generally dislikes superhero-themed entertainment (the one big exception for me is X-Men). I think this game is absolutely fantastic. Gotham is stunning, Batman's arsenal of moves is complex enough to not be a button masher but not too complicated to deter a casual gamer, the Batmobile also has a great set of mechanisms (though having to hold down a button to keep it in combat mode is annoying), and the story isn't nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. I don't exactly know what these people expect. I'm not even a superhero fanboy and I know that superhero storylines follow a very simple formula:
    1. City is in a state of calm.
    2. A threat to the city presents itself.
    3. Superhero is called upon to save the city.
    4. City is saved.
    5. Back to normal.

Without having even played through this entire game, I can tell just by the trophies available for the game that this is more or less how the game functions--like every other superhero storyline in history. Why people want this complicated for the sake of some unseen uniqueness that could very well be a huge disaster is beyond me. Regarding the storyline formula: if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

A perfect 10 if only for the fact that this is the first superhero game I've ever played that thrilled me immediately and kept me interested for hours on end so far. Not the first I've played, far from it, but we all know most superhero games are terrible even going back to the 8-bit era. My interest in this game has yet to wane. Completely engrossing.

Although, I was originally planning on buying it for PC, the reports of strange compatibility with GPU's and such turned me off. Buying it on PS4 then came to a struggle considering that PSN was slowed by the release of this game. Nonetheless, after six hours of downloading I finally had my own copy of Batman: Arkham Knight. And boy, I definitely have no regrets. Having never completed a Batman game before (except a bit of Arkham Asylum), getting into this game was a breeze. All the combat feels intuitive and flowing. Never does it feel like a the chopped up mess some fighting games can be. The combat seamlessly introduces you to the world of the Dark Knight. So far, I have yet to notice anything game breaking. Graphics are phenomenal, fighting is fluid, multi-hero integration is outstanding, and the story is absolutely a breath of fresh air. This game hits every single criteria of being a success, yet is not deserving of a perfect score. Nothing really is. This game is solid and has yet to show show any glaring flaws, it just simply neglects to be extraordinarily innovative or game-changing. Therefore, I am happy and quite confident to give Batman: Arkham Knight a near perfect score of a 9/10. Without a doubt, I would suggest this game to anyone of my friends or family. Expand

I'm reading things like "combat and graphics are great, but it feels like the last games in the series" or "this game should not have been released on PC, there are some framerate drops" or "Warner Bros is a horrible publisher, too much content cut" (honestly, this game is jam packed with content, not to mention it comes with 3 pieces of free DLC right out of the box, this dude must be high) where they then proceed to give the game a whopping ZERO. How unfair! These people have most likely put in a couple hours MAX into this amazing game, and then they come on with relatively minor complaints and give it a ZERO?? When reviewers do this they proceed to lose all credibility, period. Honestly, pay no attention to these reviews, they are bogus, written by extremely immature gamers who are unable to write objective, fair reviews. All that being said, I AM LOVING THIS GAME! I am around 12 hours into the main story line (I felt that was enough to write this review) and I am truly in awe of this game, the graphics, combat, story, voice acting, writing, new gameplay mechanics. I am in Batman heaven. Yes, the Batmobile is a TAD overused, but it is still FUN, I promise. That is my only "complaint" (if you can even call it that). Other than that, so far this is gaming perfection. Rocksteady has proved yet again that they truly know how to make amazing, top shelf games. The current user score is at a surprising and shameful 7.0. This is wildly inaccurate, I can assure you. Seriously guys!? Pay attention to the critic reviews, they tell the true story. If you loved (or even remotely liked) Arkham Asylum and/or Arkham City, or if you love dark, suspenseful, insanely fun action/stealth games, I could not recommend this game more. I am giving it a well deserved 10/10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Batman Arkham games are, for the most part, beautifully designed and fun to play, and Arkham Knight is no exception (even though the developers went overboard with the Batmobile's presence). When Gotham gets covered by Scarecrow's gas was a standout moment due to its frightening vibe and imposing imagery (I get the impression the brown color palette was inspired by Batman Begins). The environments aren't as imaginative as in Asylum or City, but they still keep you engaged.

But truth be told, I found it quite underwhelming in the story department, especially considering it was supposed to be an "epic conclusion" for the saga. Just like the previous games, it ended up becoming a Joker porn experience. Watching him appear out of nowhere in virtually every scene to point out the obvious and that he and Batman are the same for the thousandth time was pretty grating and had the subtlety of a Times Square billboard. Batman and Gordon were written a bit out of character (they surrendered to Scarecrow way too easily), and even though John Noble was good as Scarecrow, I found the Arkham Asylum version to be more memorable.

The most disappointing part is the Arkham Knight himself. Rocksteady and DC promised a brand new character, and by implication, their chance to leave their mark in the Batman mythos outside of the comics, like Paul Dini did with Harley Quinn in the animated series. Instead, his story arc turns out to be a rehash of the Red Hood saga, and one that misses the point of the character. Jason Todd wasn't supposed to be a villain, but an antihero. DC's version of the Punisher if you will. A man that went through a traumatic experience and wants to do the right thing, but has such extreme methods that is seen as an enemy by other heroes. His characterization makes his hero-turn at the ending a gigantic Deus ex machina.

Just like Arkham City, Arkham Knight is a nice looking game ruined by an overblown and generic story. I'd say it's worth buying until there's a price drop or a "Game of the year" edition.

It's fun to just run/fly/drive around, you don't even have to fight. The batmobile is a fun way to get around. You destroy all in your path as you drive around the streets of gotham. The one negative about the game is how much the game forces you to use the batmobile, especially the tank mode. Even the most fun of activities gets dull after constant usage. Batman: Arkham Knight is the best looking game in the series so far, and includes a lot of cool stuff for fans of Batman.
