Aug 26, 2016Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom is a valiant attempt to capture the feel of AoT that is unfortunately encumbered by some underwhelming elements.
-
Aug 26, 2016Though the epilogue has some serious pacing problems, Attack on Titan is a fun, bloody take on the series.
-
Aug 26, 2016While there are some glitches and it could get repetitive for some, Wings of Freedom is a respectful and funny adaptation of the manganime created by Hajime Isayama.
-
Aug 26, 2016Attack On Titan is definitely the most interesting Omega Force developed hack and slash game, thanks to the unique movement system and combat mechanics which require more than simple button mashing. Sadly, this doesn't prevent the game from becoming repetitive due to uninspired maps and lack of mission variety. The game offers plenty of fun anyway, just don't expect a masterpiece that can still feel fresh after 20 or more hours.

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaSep 28, 2016A proper, faithful blast, and it's much better than its release as a stopgap between seasons of the anime might suggest. Who says licensed games suck? [November 2016, p66]
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKSep 26, 2016Colossal fun for the duration of its story mode, it's core mechanics thrill though variety is a bit of a sticking point. Yet for the most part, this licensed gem shines. [Oct 2016, p.80]

Sep 23, 2016Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom deserves a lot of praise for accurately capturing the feel of the anime and translating it to video game form. Unfortunately, once you get past the accurate representation, there isn't much to the game.
-
Sep 7, 2016A smart adaptation that replicates the action of the series without resorting to a typical hack n’ slash knockoff. The cluttered camera and controls take some adjusting, but otherwise this is the first real attempt at successfully adapting the colossal anime hit in videogame form and is another proud notch on Omega Forces’ belt (it also increases the anticipation for Berserk, their next anime offering later this year).
-
Aug 31, 2016This is a game that's content to let players do only one thing: kill a hell of a lot of Titans.
-
Aug 29, 2016Far from being flawless, A.O.T: Wings of Freedom delivers what it promises: an entertaining true-to-the-series game that will make fans quite really happy.
-
Aug 28, 2016Even though the acrobatic slay-em-all gets dreary after a while, this is a solid action game set in the unforgiven Attack on Titan universe.
-
Aug 26, 2016Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom knows exactly what it is. It has perfected the most important elements, seemingly at the cost of other systems. The story closely follows the anime series and adds a little extra, so if you’re a fan you’ll be happy with the accurate retelling. If you’ve never watched the series, this could be a good way to dive into the franchise.
-
Aug 26, 2016The PS4 version of Attack on Titan is true to the original anime. The three dimensional maneuver gear feels amazing and it is a real blast to fly around the maps and slay titans with our swords. Sadly, the game is quite repetitive and lacks real challenges in order to be a must-have for the platform.
-
Aug 26, 2016A.O.T.: Wings of Freedom raises the bar for the musou genre developed by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo. The game is interesting, albeit with some flaws, and has a unique identity that can be appreciated even if you're not a fan of the anime.
-
Aug 26, 2016This is hands down the best Attack on Titan game you’ll find anywhere, though that in itself doesn’t make it a must-have. Whether or not it clicks depends entirely on whether you can get to grips with the finicky combat, and how easily you deal with doing the same thing over and over.
-
Aug 26, 2016While not without its issues, Omega Force did a really good job bringing Attack on Titan into the realm of gaming.
-
Aug 26, 2016Some bits are not needed, there’s a lot of filler, and a lot that gets repetitive, but I still had a lot of fun with it.
-
Sep 11, 2016Manages to capture the anime atmosphere at first, then suffers from extreme lack of diversity. Only for hardcore fans.
-
Sep 15, 2016It has a genuinely cool premise, and the core mechanic of reeling into titans at absurd speeds with the intent of doing hideous amounts of damage is a good one. There’s just very little else to it, so while it’s initially exciting and gives a unique feeling of freedom to murder adversaries, longer sessions allow tedium to set in.
-
Sep 7, 2016In short bursts, Attack on Titan can be a fun distraction. It definitely looks and feels like the animated series, runs through its narrative nicely, and features lots of stuff to unlock, upgrade, and play through. Sadly, almost every mission feels just like the last one, and with very little to shake up the process...Such is the curse of an Attack on Titan game. Unless someone gets really creative, attempting to emulate the way that world works is looking set to produce some enjoyable games undermined by the fact that cutting a giant man behind the neck really isn’t thrilling enough to sustain hours of gameplay.
-
Aug 27, 2016Attack on Titan is an enjoyable experience that is worth a playthrough, but it could’ve been so much more. It surprises with solid combat mechanics and features some exciting and action-packed gameplay moments, but its presentation, story, characters and content outside of the campaign are severely lacking.
-
Aug 26, 2016This is the best game based on the popular anime series Attack on Titan, but with repetitive combat, it gets dull fast.
-
Aug 26, 2016A.O.E. Wings of Freedom is a game exclusively made for fans. However, the gameplay is too weak to lift the fortunes of the product. Good enough for fans: the others would not have reason to postpone the production limits.
-
Aug 28, 2016Initially, fans will eat this one up – the story and visual presentation acting as delectable dressing – but even the best of meals lose their allure over time if that's all there is to swallow.
-
Aug 26, 2016Attack on Titan may be systematically simple and has some visual issues, but I still had fun playing within its world. Well-trod musou layout aside, battling titans and swinging through the skies with futuristic military gear can be an enjoyable experience--if you can look past its glaring flaws.
