The micro-transactions in a single player game killed the game for me. To those interested do not get the game UNLESS you enjoy endless roman killing / stupid boring grinding.

Probably the best title since AC2. Great characters, AWESOME world, lot of things to do and didn't get a single drop of frames (At least, in my case).

A fresh new start for the series.

I'm giving this game 0 points on general principle. Here's why:

I'm giving this game 0 points on general principle. Here's why:

There's a game concept that's free-to-play on mobile platforms: "If you wanna get somewhere in a reasonable amount of time, pay up! If you don't, feel free to play our game, but be prepared for countless hours of grinding."

Ubisoft decided to take this approach with ACO - a full-price title! Am I wrong in thinking I have the right to be spared this unethical behavior after having shelled out over € 60? This is at eye level with Star Wars Battlefront II.

And they don't even bother to mask this approach. You have this gigantic open world, but every guard, every bandit, every animal is leveled, and if their level exceeds yours, it's certain death for you. Doesn't matter how good you are, they will kill you because their level says so. So in this open world sandbox you have to do what completely goes against open world sandboxes: You have to follow the narrative's path and take on every side quest you encounter, so you can level up to proceed to the next area - and even then the XP system is designed in such a way that it's still not enough, so you have to sink hours in hunting and farming for miniscule XP rewards - or pay real money, and Ubisoft doesn't tire of reminding you that they think that's a really cool option. Wanna go exploring in an open world sandbox game? Pay the retail price all over again, level up to 40, and you can do so!

And if that wasn't enough, Ubisoft went and paid some Southwest Asian click farm to spam Metacritic with fake 10s. ACO could be the greatest game ever to hit home consoles - this behavior deserves 0 points and hopefully sales figures way below expectations. This is an unacceptable business model, and I hope the chickens come round to roost.

Sometimes the fighting is a little bit difficult, it is a learning process. Overall I can say it's a good and very enjoyable game. (the climbing is also improved!) For me this is the best AC there is, just because it's an open world where you can do and see everything, from animals to pyramids and the gameplay is fluid. It's a 10/10 for me. Expand

Let me get the positives out of the way first, the environment in this game looks beautiful, the map is huge. But that's about the only positive that I can think of for this game. Let's start with the bad, the revamped battle system is complete sht. They tried to copy Witcher 3's battle system, which is arguably the worst part of Witcher 3. It's slow, unresponsive, and generally not very fun to get into fights. The biggest issue with the fighting system is this, the enemies can dash backwards, you can't dash forward. So that means you have to walk forward slowly to attack, while the enemies can hit you at that time. So that made most of the melee weapons useless (other than as a finisher when the enemies are stunned). Did they even test play this system? How the f did it even get past testing? So for most of the game I resort to using bow and arrow. They also nerfed the hidden blade, now it'll only do maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the health of the mini bosses. In AC1 if you can time it perfectly you can one hit kill the final boss with a hidden blade counter! Now that's obviously too OP, but there's no reason to nerf the hidden blade this much. The leveling and experience gain also have issues. The exp you gain for kill enemies are very low, that's fine by itself. But they have made the game very level based, any enemies more than 3 levels higher you basically can't kill. So now I have to grind for exp. I'm sure this bs is put into the game to encourage people to buy their Time Savers Pack. I usually don't even mind grinding if the grinding feels natural, but this feels like they deliberately force you to grind (by nerfing the hidden blade) so you'll have to grind for levels. If you don't want to grind then you'll have to buy microtransactions. I think this is the last AC game for me. No more of this bs. I'll be waiting for the big gaming crash of these big publishers. When someone else can buy these IPs for cheap after they crash, they might start to make some good games again. Expand

Actually, I really like Time saver packs because AC Origin is huge. Till now I've spent over 70 hours in game and total completion percent is only 45. Nevertheless, give it a zero! And so on. Come on guys! Really!? Don't be such cry babies!
If you liked previous Assassin's Creed games, then you will love this one too. You can play it in many different ways: Play it like Witcher 3, put more accent on the side quests, explore wonderful world of ancient Egypt, explore tombs, mountains forests and cities, help people along the way, collect goods and advance Bayek’s abilities. Play it in Ezo and Altair style and be an deadly assassin using stealth, sleep darts, poison, smokescreen, parkour and climbing.

Maybe you like direct approach so, use melee type of fighting. Shields, three types of swords and four types of heavy weapons like blunts, scepters spears and blades should be enough for even fierced Warriors.

Don't like close combat? No problem! You can be deadly (and stealthy) from a distance: use variety of bows and arrows (you can choose between four types of bows).

You will learn to appreciate Senu’s eagle vision more than you think, but be warned: scouting with Senu can ruin some exploration delights.

Love Lions? Then tame one! It's a deadly companion! Horses and camels are too slow for you? Use chariots instead! I can write a dozen tips like this.

There is fiew bad things too. For exsample, fighting with some enemies feels awkward, like you are connected to each other with a rubber band. You cannot escape series or blows and will most likely end up dead.
Fire. Bayak’s outfit (no matter which one) acts like it is made of paper and catches fire pretty damn quickly so avoid those god damn, in floor level, brassieres!
And last, supernatural cut scenes. You will see plenty of those. I won't spoil anything, but that was a bit too
much for my taste. Ubisoft should left it out or make it in some other way.

This game was not meant to be played in a rush. You have to be patient with it. Learn fighting mechanics, plan ahead, use tactics, upgrade your weapons and skills. Enemies are not so dumb anymore. In other words take your time and enjoy gameplay. It's not a perfect game, but Ubisoft made this one really good.

I thought he was serious when he needed to be serious and very charming and funny when he needed to be funny. A great blend of serious and charismatic. I have been asking for a Assassin's Creed in Egypt for a long time, and wanted it more than the Japan and and Future. I am glad we finally got it because Egypt has countless possibilities to do. I am a little disappointed they chose 49-46BC rather than Ramses II and Moses 1280BC. Where there could of been the plagues of Egypt, meeting Moses, the parting of the Red Sea. Now that would of been something to see, but maybe that was pushing it to far with the time. With that said I am happy we got an Egypt AC game and I am stoked it turned out this good. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is partial and coming from a non AC player in the past, but have always been interested. I have played this game around 8 hours since picking it up on launch day.
My first impressions where that the grapics were amazing on my PS4 Pro, even though I have only been to two sections on this huge map , Siwa and the following area. There was plenty to do in this part of the game including main quest and side missions.
I have really enjoyed it so far as I have always been interested in ancient Egypt. I'm hoping missions do not get too repetitive. So far I see a variety.
Traveling to enemy controlled areas/bases have been fun. Sneaking around and assassinating soldiers, although not complicated, while your charatcter hides in the tall grass. During these parts of the game a main boss will need to be eliminated. Difficulty of a boss is based on rank. XP allows you to gain a higer number rank which I am currently at 8. Of course trying to take on a higher ranked character than yourself usually turns out for the worse for you.
With that being said you usually have to explore, complete side missions, and level up to move on. It will definetly be harder to just complete the main quest portion of the game in order to finish the game faster. Get ready to grind!
Combat for the most part works. Hit and dodge is the tactic here. You have the ability to lock on to one target at a time. There are many weapon variations to loot along the way. You can use a bow and arrow and switch over to a sword, axe and several other melee weapons based on the situation.
You travel from place to place on your horse, camel or other means and have fast travel options.
You also have a sidekick in the form of a bird that is seen in third person. This allows you to search the map for locations, enemies and most importantly scout ahead.
From what I have read this game is dramatically different from the previous AC titles. Hopefully this review has helped you decide if this game will be of interest or a waste of time and money. I personally am excited to venture farther into this game and huge map !

Things like skill trees and crafting systems have been slipping their way into Assassin's Creed for a while now. Origins however is the first game in the series to fully embrace the RPG genre. Boldly redefining the franchise while taking us back to the earliest days of the Brotherhood.

As interested as I was in seeing how the Assassins got their start, I didn't care about the protagonist Bayek, his wife Aya, or even his quest to avenge his son's death. This is in part because the game picks up a year after he already set out to destroy the Order, giving it a bit of a non-linear quality. I got more out of the side-quests and historical setting. A lot of effort went into making the characters you come across in both the main plot and the mini side-stories scattered across the world feel real and memorable. The best part of the narrative though is definitely the origin story of the Creed. Seeing how all of these different things we've come to associate with the series over the years came to be is a lot of fun.

On the gameplay side of things the biggest change that can be found is the combat system. No longer are fights a dance of well-timed parries and counters. Instead we get something much more free-flowing with a mix of light and heavy attacks not unlike a SoulsBorne game. A wide variety of weapon types allow you to experiment with different playstyles and find one that best suits you. This is true of ranged combat as well. The new bow and arrows are probably my favorite addition to the series. Being able to put some distance between you and your foes can be life-saving. Pulling off headshots never gets old. Especially when you dive further into the skill trees and get crazy new abilities like the power to control arrows mid-flight.

Origins is a massive game that's filled with things to do. Admittedly you're just completing the same handful of tasks over and over again, but the action manages to stay fresh due to how diverse the environments are. Each section of the map is unique. Affectinf things like enemy patrol patterns and the kind of terrain you'll maneuver through. Entering a new zone for the first time and getting caught up in it's beauty and how different it was from everywhere else I had previously explored was enough to keep me going until I got that platinum trophy.

The new modern day segments return to a format similar to that of when Desmond was still around. They introduce a new protagonist for this side of things, but man is she annoying. Like Rebecca and Shaun levels of bad. Not much happens in the few brief excursions outside of the Animus, but it's nice to see signs of Ubisoft potentially doing something significant with this part of the series again.

Origins marks the first real evolution for Assassin's Creed since introducing multiplayer back in 2012. With a better story and more variety across the board the next entry could be talked about as one of the best RPGs of all time. Some excellent groundwork has been laid here, making the franchise feel fresher than it has in years.

This Game blows away the idea of open world game. Origins has a massive world.Maybe bigger than GTA V and Red Dead Redemption. Factors that puts AC: Origins ahead (some might frown) over GTA V and RDR is the immersive game play. Hunting, Climbing, Interaction with envt, weapons, Combat, Enemies, Soundtrack are to name a few.

Combat is pretty challenging. I suggest play in HARD mode. Every enemy has a difficulty level. If they are 1 or two levels above you, then combat is tough, if further above, you'll be killed like a mosquito. One death per hour is more or less certain. Even the same goes with animals.

You can climb pretty much anything. Yes!! Anything. Now you don't need to take a long route to reach atop of a mountain. Simply can climb vertically.

SENU the Eagle is what we always wanted in Assassins Creed. In origins we do not have eagle vision, bur actual EAGLE's Vision. Use Senu to track, follow, set markers, even fast travel (if senu is within 300mts)

A.I is absolutely amazing, for instance: In a side quest when an NPC is asked to go home after the quest, the NPC actually runs home, rather than just disappear. You can follow the character with SENU (the EAGLE) and can even listen to his post quest conversation with another character.

Bayek is always on running mode. No need to press any other keys (AC fans will notice the difference).

How to play: Ideally play all the side quests, explore areas, loot transporting, hunt and reach higher levels.

I reached level 8 before leaving the first area (SIWA). Even at level 8 there are two places in SIWA that you cannot approach. Enemies have SKULL over them (Too high for Bayek)

I played almost 8 hours (in detail, solving puzzles, upgrading,dying- a lot) before "Leaving SIWA".

This game is Massive. Awesome. Challenging. Accurate to a great extent (even the interiors of Pyramid of GIZA

To use DELUXE CODE-> In game, go to store and enter the code and you get 1. A Legendary Sword, Spear and a Shield, Desert Cobra outfit and A bad ass horse. A Naval Mission

I can go on writing, but i suggest buy it to experience it.

After 103 hours, i have earned all trophies. This is the first game for which i have put in so much time to earn all trophies. Totally worth it !!

The combat is great – especially compared to former titles – but I especially liked to stealthy approach. That way, each outpost was a cool puzzle for me to solve.
The story was okay, but I can't really remember much of it. One big exception is the story between Bayek and Aya...but I won't spoil.
Some of the side quests were much more memorable and interesting than the main quests. It never really felt tedious or repetitive. But as I generally like Ubi games, I'm more forgiving, I guess.
Even the discovery mode is working really well and can entertain (and maybe even teach) for a while.
A solid 9, if you are generally into those kinds of games. A better, more memorable main story would be appreciated, but I can live with it.

I'll openly admit I quite dislike the AC franchise. The only AC game I've ever played prior to Origins was Liberation on my Vita. It was so dull and boring I never even finished it. First of all, massive kudos to Ubisoft's art department! The effort and talent that went into creating the universe of Origins is nothing short of impressive. You can get lost for days just roaming around in the world, admiring the beautiful scenery. The game looks simply amazing on my 4KTV.

There's an unbelievable amount of content as well. Main quests, side quests, tombs to raid, treasures to find, enemy camps and forts to infiltrate, horse racing... If you love huge open world games with hundreds of secrets to discover, you'll love Origins. The characters and story are pretty interesting as well!

The great audio-visual presentation is accompanied by smooth controls, and it's just as much pleasure to play this game as it is to look at it. There are some minor graphical glitches (NPCs spazzing out, pots of oil randomly spawning in the air and then slowly descending into water) and once I got stuck inside a wall and was unable to get out, but this was quickly fixed by simply fast-traveling to the nearest vantage point. They're not frequent, though, and the beautiful world itself makes Origins well worth your time. I'm absolutely in love with this game and I'll be sure to give the franchise another try.

    Pros:
    - absolutely beautiful open world
    - massive amount of content and a vast area to explore
    - good controls
    - great sound and visuals

    Cons:
    - occasional glitches
    - the RPG elements aren't very deep, it's just basic "level up to unlock skill points to buy abilities" and "gather stuff to upgrade equipment"

I am quite a ways into the game and it is slowly becoming my favorite Ubisoft, Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed game. As a funny little anecdote on the freedom this game offers vs other AC games, I actually killed my first "main quest mark" by mistake, while testing out a new bow I'd looted somewhere... with a headshot. I was so confused because I forgot to set the main quest as active, and was messing around an ol' temple, when I see some dudes. I get ready to pick them off one by one, and just as I get the first one in the head - mind you, there was no indication that this was the main mark; his lvl was just a little higher than the others - the game goes into a cut scene!!! I've never laughed that much in an AC game, especially after being told by another main character that I needed to prepare well to assassinate this guy.

First things first - This is an open-world, Action RPG; whoever still believes this game to be along the lines of old AC titles has completely missed the influences from Witcher 3. Moving on.

The visuals are incredible. This game almost feels as though it is running the same engine as Just Cause 3, but adapted for 2017. By that, I mean it can be quite astounding sometime, whereas other times, textures get strangely drawn. Speaking of drawn, even on the PS4, the draw distance is damn good. I don't know if they accomplished this by pulling back a little on sky-related visuals, but sometimes you can be at an Synchronization Point (Eagle Point) and watch as a small group of horses walk along a road really, really f*cking far away. For a moment I thought I was playing on PC with max settings.

The fighting mechanics are simple. AC has come a long way, and by "a long way" I mean it has finally realized people don't enjoy these weird moments where you clearly just slashed the enemy across the head but he got the same amount of damage dealt with. In this game, hitting an enemy from the side or over the head or on the arm deals different damage. That being said... ARROWS will be your best friend for the first time in an AC game! (Now where have I seen that before? Zelda BotW...:cough cough:)

Speaking of arrows, and weapons in general. What I meant about this really being an RPG in disguise, is the simple fact that there is crafting in this game. There is hunting for materials, and then crafting. There is hunting and then selling what you hunt. There is enhancing your own equipment with what you loot or hunt. There are many, many side quests and the lands are vast. As in many RPG games these days - Witcher, for example - there is a clear symbol letting you know an enemy is way too OP for you and will OHKO you; a lvl 19 Lion versus a lvl 8 Bayek is a great example of this - trust me, I know.

The music doesn't jump out as much as past AC games, and this is good. These guys took a page from both Witcher and Zelda BotW for this. It's effective. Music plays only every now and then, and then it's quiet. Trust me, you're gonna want to pay more attention to that Crocodile Lair you almost just jumped into instead of pretty music.

So all in all, I give the game an 8. It does a lot of things well, but then there's the cash grab aspect (don't feel like wasting space on that here), and of course, some things can be a little repetitive, as with all open-world games; just look at Skyrim, Witcher 3, Zelda BotW, GTA V. None can escape it. Not till games are fully streamed and incredibly vast in data size.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Assassin's Creed Origins is a fun game. It is a game, for me, that I can come back and play to pass up time, however, the story and side quest are very lacking. It is boring story, and silly. I laugh at what was supposed to be serious moments into the game because it is so ridiculous and done so poorly at executing the vibe that it was trying to get. For instance, when you accidentally killed your son in the flashback. That was one of the poorest executed sad moment in story telling that I've seen in a really long time. Also, the combat is a bit buggy and can be very laggy when executing commands. It is trying to be a bloodborne/dark souls combat style by making try and dodge and roll all over the place in conflict, and it isn't done right. Anyways, despite its major flaw in telling an engaging story and occasional lacking gameplay, it is still an over all fun game that has a lot to do. The world is pretty cool and reminds me of far cry by the random animals that can kill you. I enjoy the hunting and crafting and upgrading aspect of the game. You can mold your character to play how you want him to play like an rpg. It has fun moments, it has dull moments, but it isn't an unbearable game. I am glad I got it on sale for 50% off, because if I did not, I would be pretty upset paying for this game that is from a AAA developer. If you do not have this game, waiting for a sale will feel more justifiable solution. Expand

The time I spent playing the game, it really excelled what I had in mind, the seamless parkour and hand to hand combat seemed like the Assassins Creed game we needed, but there were a few notable, shall we say, disappointments.

The story was, interesting, had a lot of history to it, but the down side was it was a bit jumpy at the beginning, I didn't quite grasp much of what was happening, and being thrown right into a battle, is alright to learn controls, but from a story standpoint, a bit confusing.

Leveling in this game, was a nice addition, worked well with the progression of the story and the harder missions, but, what lacked was the fact that just by doing the main quests, did not set you up for the next main missions, for example, you hit a major point in the story, and your level 10, but the next mission is level 15, the gap is too big, which has me thinking that there is not much in the way of a composed story,

On the topic of leveling, to be able to match with the recommended level, you have to do side quests, now that's fine because some play well with characters you've met or have quirks of humor about them, the only real problem is that they take away from the main story, it's like, now we can go and kill the final boss, but wait let me kill some hippos for a village so I can be ready for the boss fight, seems silly doesn't it.

Note: I have not finished the game, but i'm pretty sure this is how it will continue.

On a final note it is well rendered in visuals, and the story in enticing, but the leveling progression can be tiresome at times, probably rate this my third best AC game.

Second, cats. Why are cats killable? More importantly, why do they like to run into danger so much? I honestly try to NOT kill cats but more often than not they run into poison and die. I also don't know why but every time in the past few days I've used poison there have always been cats around. Every. time. and every time they get killed I feel horrible.
Once I was petting a cat and stretched my arms out in real life, causing the attack button to get ever so lightly tapped, causing Bayek to swing his weapon and instantly kill the cat that I was enjoying petting! AND THEN THE GAME YELLED AT ME ABOUT IT! I didn't mean to kill it! I didn't want to kill it and the game just shoves it in your face like it's YOUR fault.
and I don't care if they or anyone doesn't find it disheartening to accidentally kill cats in a video games, I do!

I've brought this up to them and was brushed aside. I am getting sick of being ignored by them and basically being given a pat on the head every time I bring this up. So for now I'm leaving my rating at 1 till this getting fixed. and the ONLY reason I'm giving it a 1 and not 0 is because when I'm not accidentally killing cats this game is fun to play. It's just that ruins the game for me.

Well for one the world is very large i was blown away by how big the map is its BY FAAR the biggest AC game weve ever had and among the biggest openworld games todate the gameplay as i mentioned previoulsy is phenomenal it differs ALOT from the previous AC titles this time around going for a more dark souls style combat where your level and your gear ACTUALLY MATTER while some old fans arent really fond of it i think its a welcome change to the franchise, exploration is also rewarded by loot coins crafting materials and other things, the game is also very polished and graphically stunning framerate is thankfully stable on ps4 and i havent had too many bugs with the game there is also a big variety of animals weapons and outfits wich is greatly apriciated i also have to mention that ubisoft has definetly taken some notes from the witcher 3 and far cry, the side quests are decent they mostly serve as a way for you to gain xp fast soo none of them are really memorable like in the witcher 3, and of course there are the filthy microtransactions now i understand ubisoft wants to make money but for gods sake why put it in a single player game (i think we all know why)
thankfully they arent intrussive at all and i never once thought about buying anything from the shop
but i have to mention it still because it seems that this is becoming a growing trend amongs games and we need to draw the line in the sand NOW. now if you liked the prevous ac games i think youre gonna like this one too however wait for a price drop before buying the game just to make sure you get your moneys worth 8/10 great game.

Nice appropach toward RPG,; Ubisoft did learn a lesson and tried to make quests richer in little stories but here still something remains to be done and polished. For the final better feeling of the game these things should be improved: 1. better npcs models 2. better facial animations 3. Better little stories of the quest givers and 4. More charismatic characters / npcs. Otherwise a great game. Had a lot of fun with it. Expand

This is not a game that would showcase the Xbox One X powers and I am not quite sure why its marketed to do so. I have spent about 4-5 hours in now, and I don't get it. The game is as ugly as it has ever been, the side quests are silly as always and I'm never fuzzy with frame rate. But around 20 is way to low! Even the animations are choppy and so so. Plus, where's the stealth? I'm supposed to play as an assassin. Not a Egyptian version of Vin Diesel.

AC origins doesn't deserve the praise it has received from the mainstream reviewers a lot of the game is just padding and it all got very repetitive and dull.

In conclusion if you enjoyed the last 20 AC games buy this! If you hoped for a change of pace and a solid story you will just be disappointed paying 100 dollars for one of the most disappointing sandbox game of this year considering shadow of war even with terrible loot box and real ending pay wall had a better story and minute to minute gameplay.

I may be hard on the game but with the bugs the bad mechanics and story players will be left wanting for a better experience after the promises and beauty of the world they created.

Not only is the story weak, but, as someone who's played every AC title to date, it completely takes a big steaming dump on the lore, and here's how:

    1) Why does Bayek have a hidden blade when in the lore of the story Darius in the 5th Century was the first user of the hidden blade? It makes no sense.

    2) Why is Amunet renamed as Aya?

    3) No mention of Brutus, Marcus Antonius or Leonius?

    4) It's made very clear in Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood that the Assassin's existed before Origins, and it's also hinted that it started with Adam and Eve... where did this go?

    Other problems with the story:

    1) Layla Hassan... I won't point it out, but it makes no sense.

    2) Certain missing individuals.

Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant game to play, but the poor storyline is just so off-putting that I just can't enjoy it, it makes no sense.

This one isn't a perfect game, in fact in many ways it is a rather flawed game, but at its core it is fun to play and provides for 30+ hours of story game play.
The redesigned fighting mechanics is a welcome change, unfortunately it doesn't work as well with multiple enemies and it channels a lot of the Witcher however the interplay with the Ranged and the Melee makes for a challenge that for the most part is more fun than frustrating.
Exploration, Riding and the parkour mechanics are very improved and a lot of the frustration of the earlier games is removed. I mean for the most part you hardly have to do much, but trust me there is plenty going on in the game that you don't want to be distracted by broken climbing mechanics.
The Storyline starts very strong and draws you in but about 3/4ths through it just totally breaks. At about 15-20 hours in, I personally started getting bored and I had to take a couple of days off from the game, before the final 10 hours or so of it started. To be honest, i didn't get back into it for the story, because it had become a write off, the game was just fun enough for me to continue with that mishmash of a plot line.
The progression System is possibly, what is on most people's minds, the issue of loot boxes etc. Let's just say that this game is possibly at the borderline of what is acceptable. I bought the gold version and that version comes with really great in game advantages that possibly knocked off at least a couple hours worth of grinding. It also came with a Legendary weapon that i did not stop using till the final mission basically. So this inherently proves that real money changes/makes this game easier to play. Having said that, because of its core single player nature, I did not engage with the in game merchant, or spent any actual money in the store (You were given 500 Helix points for buying the deluxe version and again that is not an insignificant amount). The Merchant inside the game, can basically be ignored and the loot crates that he sells is purchasable using in game money, but its really a high amount and I never bothered with it.
Honestly, the fact this merchant who sells loot crates purchasable in game currency that is intensely purchasable using Helix Coins which are purchasable through Real $$, is basically gambling, but its impact in this game is reduced because of two factors. This is a single player game and the incentive to gamble is reduced and secondly you can basically spend real money to by helix coins to purchase actual goods in the store, without having to resort to this mechanic. So the store itself, that sells everything from weapons to crafting materials negates the effect of this In game merchant selling loot boxes. I am hoping that this loot box/gambling mechanic wasn't put in just to entrap someone who is addicted to actual gambling, because there is really no reason for this feature to exist in this game. I reduced one point in my review for this reason, I think if at all pay to win or as the game puts it timesavers are to be implemented they should be done the way they are in Assassins creed origins minus the in game merchant and his LootBoxes.
Overall, this game gives you value for money in that it is easily 30+ hours of gameplay that is fun and lets you explore some really beautiful levels that are really file like ancient Egypt. Egypt is the star here and frankly, while the mileage you get out of the game might be different, you will enjoy exploring Egypt, with a competent if not perfect combat system and a progression mechanic that is at times very grindy but just about stays honest.

And after that every AC game was the same. Few activities repeated over and over again. AC 4 was little different but it was still same boting ass AC I know. With ships.

I bought Origins because it was first AC game that was released after 2 years and not after 1. And it shows.

Combat is more refined. It's not just right clicking over and over again like in previous games. Nor it is button smashing like in Syndicate. Combat here is actually fun. And FINALLY you CAN DIE during combat. In previous games unless you were retarded somehow, it was almost impossible to die. Stupid fall from high place killed me more often that fight with 10 or more enemies at once.

Graphics are amazing. Egypt look beautiful. Often I just stare at the scenery. And there is something great with desert contrasting with green terrain near rivers.

Quests finally are interesting. At least they are not copy-paste and have some real backstory. It's not like "you need to go and listen to this guy" over and over again anymore. Still there is a room for improvement.

Story is actually interesting and I keep track of it. In all previous AC games I did not care because it was always about "killing X important people from the templars"

Your AC costume actually make sense in this game. In previous games your costume always had same style. Because of that you were looking like a drag queen in kids party on the street. Why guard did not recognize You all the time - i have no idea. Here all make sense. People here carry weapons and cover themselves because of the sand.

So in the end... this is kinda fun game to play. And I think I will actually finish it. It's much better than all previous AC games in my opinion. Worth checking.

People keep saying "that year off really made a difference." Well, Origins wasn't made by the same team who did Syndicate and Unity. It was made by the Black Flag team, and they've been working on this one for years. I'm not sure why these people think this game could possibly have been made in just two years of time.

The ending of the story leaves you pretty unsatisfied (you can check on reddit for a general concensus of that opinion), the new approach to gameplay which changes the usual and tried counter in fights is now changed to an action RPG with influences from The Witcher 3 but does not execute it properly, or at least I felt it so. The graphics also feel rushed and pretty lackluster.

If you're a fan of the series, I do recommend playing it, but most definitely at a lower price than it currently is. If you're not, you're better off playing The Ezio Collection or basically any other entry in the series and just read the minimal progression of the story this game has rather than play it.

Sorry to say this Ubisoft but no amount of money sent to reviewers will hide the truth of an uninspiring game.

Amazingly bad game with horrible bugs and glitches. Animation loops that never end.

And all these fake reviews! Good grief. Most copy actual review text from other people and the user names..? Do they think everyone is stupid?

Nice try paying for good reviews. I guess we see what even YOU think your game is worth, Ubisoft.

Ignore the pathetic ubisoft shills, they are rating this game a 10, I mean look, THEY AREN'T EVEN HIDING IT ANYMORE, shame on ubisoft for manipulating the review system, what a pathetic cancerous company.

I just finished the game, and this is a soulless piece of junk. The story sucks, (you can just mash 1 button the hole time and win every fight) the game tells you every time how to beat the enemy in every fight with helpboxses and messages, it requires you to buy lootboxes for the last 25% of the game.

Assassin's Creed: Origins is the best game in the series, but it's a mediocre action RPG at its core. In this sense, it both succeeds and fails at being a much-needed franchise shakeup.

Origins is the newest installment in rather worn out series and a much appreciated and needed refresh. New combat and graphically fantastic environment with tons of content will gave you some nice moments. The game is not a blast but it is a proof that AC is back on the right track again, for now.

With a beautiful world you'll repeatedly die for and lethal toys to play with, Assassin's Creed Origins finally delivers the game you always wanted from the series. Brilliant. [Christmas 2017, p.87]
